Honestly I think there is a better chance for a Mother remake similar to that 3D Remake Mother 3 fan trailer. Although I think there is a greater chance for the Mother franchise to be dead for good and will never return, especially anywhere outside Japan.
Honestly, I think the more information that spread about Earthbound/Mother, the more Nintendo distanced themselves from it. In early Smash, Ness was iconic enough to roster. But as we entered the RUclips age, more scrutniy started to surround the game's themes, and the creator's story of Gygas being inspired by him walking into a theater playing a highly-graphic scene. Let's not forget to mention the nature of the final area. It's just a theory, but from my perspective, they wanted to move a franchise with that "baggage" away from its modern/international brand. And so, Mothre has simply become a cult classic that Nintendo will only acknowledge today as a couple of Smash characters.
Call me insane, but I am hoping that Nintendo remakes Mother 3 in a 3D style, almost like Links Awakening (I probably sound like I need to be put in a psych ward)
I hate to be a bubble-burster, but I think the more scrutiny that spread around the Mother series in the RUclips age, the more Nintendo distanced it from its modern/international brand. We learned more about the series' nature; what inspired Gygas, what the final dungeon in 1 symbolized, etc. Now that the cat's out of the bag so-to-speak, it's just not something I think Nintendo is confident in returning to.
The fact Nintendo like refuses to release the game is just one example about how Nintendo just gives zero craps about their fans anymore. Pokemon games are crap, third party support is most shovelware on the Eshop, over priced games that are barely worth replaying, and the list just goes on from there. Do I want Mother 3 to be released, yes, will I be frickin thrilled and buy probably 2 copies just to have one as a keepsake, you bet, have I given up hope that its going to happen, a looooong time ago...
I do agree that examples like these show how shitty Nintendo can be. Although idk about the Pokemon example (I've never played it) because I know game freak usually does their own thing. But still they are pretty shitty
Buying two copies will just give them more money to keep being shitty lol you’re just feeding the monster at that point. I guarantee that if anything for mother 3 comes to America itll be to distract people from something shitty they’ve done. They’re doing it with Pokemon az right now
@@aubreyh1930 I am you're not wrong. But if they release the game I've been waiting for 15+ years for them to do some it would be dumb for me not to buy them XD
Just play the damn game on an emulator or a flash cart... like why do we need to give nintendo money for this game... its so insane that people are fighting for this. I remember when the developers of the game were basically like "just play the English patch it's great and this game never getting localized anyway" 👍
I've always understood the idea behind an officially published English translation, but if it is that meaningful to you, you're absolutely right. Just because it hasn't been localized doesn't mean you can't play it altogether. Very good point!
My guess is because star fox 2 already was translated and pretty much completed. Not saying a translation is a lot of work, but that might have been their mindset
I have had the English translated roms of Mother 3 and Mother 1+2 on GBA reproduction cartridges ever since 2018 and have been playing them on my GBA ever since so I think people need to just play the English translation and call it a day unless Nintendo one day actually localizes it. This has been going on since the 2000’s and unfortunately only time will tell since it will come down to Nintendo.
@@CoolDave69i think you need to get the lobotomized parts of your brain put back in. its not even that you dont like mother 3. you just cant spell for shit.
If I were Nintendo I wouldn't release it on US too, why? Fanbase aren't huge enough to warant it, and whatever amount of the fans that exists already played the fan translation. And finally the creator of Mother 3 already done with the series, he wants to move on from it. If Mother 3 were to release on US, there's a chance that fans would demand another sequel or a remake and shit that have a high chance of getting low sales again. Why risk it anyway
Switch Online being a subscription service means they have no financial incentive to localize this particular game. The people that would play the game are already paying for Switch Online anyways.
I'm guessing Mother 3 isn't being localized is because of the portrayal of the Magypsies, since they appear to be trans/drag queens, despite claiming not to go by any gender. Nintendo can't rewrite them, either, as they're key to the plot of the game.
Reggie said it wasn't about the material in the game It's because of the soundtrack having copyrighted material that only applies to the US and Europe law
@@JohnnyD1986 mother 3 does a lot of tributes Using similar notes to certain songs In the US n Europe You legally cannot have a song sound too similar to another unless you pay a fee And with the fact some tracks take parts from the Beatles you can tell how expensive it would be to pay all of it
It's really funny that Live-A-Live, Radical Dreamers, and MOON all got official localizations before Mother 3
Other people simply do what Nintendont.
Id rather pay 20 for the fan game than 50 for a couple of years worth of overseas language barriers.

there’s a bunch of legal stuff preventing mother 3 from coming out
honestly ive given up all hope a long time ago
Honestly me too, but what legal issues are preventing it's release here in the states. I've never heard anything like that?

What Nintendo is doing is flat out unacceptable. Toying their fans, I've had enough with the B.S. This isn't funny anymore!
There is a lot of issues with the mother 3 soundtrack
Either they need to change some tracks to remove some Beatles tributes
Or they won't localise it

The official localization will be bad compared to the fan translation and Nintendo knows it.

Ya it probably would open up a huge can of worms, I mean look at what happened when Warner Bros released the Snyder cut, the fans only wanted more
I don't know. That decision only adds more fuel to the fire. Not every fan is okay being toyed with by a company. I wouldn't put up with it either.
