Immediately after shooting the 'lobster scene' on the beach, David lean said to John Mills (Michael), "Have you ever won an Oscar Johnnie?" How prophetic was that! Dear Sir John, great actor, great man, sadly missed.
The most heartbreaking scene for me, was the one with Michael and Major Dorian before he committed suicide. And that look between Rosie and Michael when she understood totally the tragedy of the explosion 💔
It is a real shame your "intro and ending" got pulled. For me the nicest bit of all the good music on the film is the Pizzicato ending. Haunting, lovely. I have the special edition dvd and on it the end theme is used as you scroll between play, scene etc. Thank you for uploading, try again?
If the villagers hadn't been portrayed as being so horrible all though the film, the scene where thy strip and shear Rosie would have had a much more frightening impact.
superb acting of John Mills, I didn't know he won an Oscar for it! He deserved it indeed!
It's fair to say that Michael is a kind of cross between Quasimodo and Norman Wisdom.

I love this movie. !
One of my favourite films of all time......
Try to catch the end theme also - the plucked stings of violin.
Maurice Jarre who wrote the music was father of Jeanne Michelle Jarre

Th word "ham acting" was invented to describe Mill's overblown acting in this film. It is a caricature.
Shows what you know.
As Peter Cook said.....
"John Mills won an Oscar for his goblin"

And what a shame Sir Norman wasn't given the roll.
As the crowd chase and make fun of him ......"MR GRIMSDALE"....
2 Oscars for him........
Pelicula muy bella ...en todos los sentidos
