Critical mistake if u want to create a big scene is to go into details like ACs and wires. It counts the poly up really fast, only go into details if they are closed to the camera or it's the main ground or something ur characters can interact with.
could be interesting to also add coloured emition shaders to the windows and other lit parts. could look very good as a backdrop in the distance from atop a hillside.
You could also make the windows transparent, project an image of a room onto the inside of a cube with 1 face missing, give that an emission and place it behind the windows👌
Hilarious video… This is a great top down approach to introducing people to blender. Now if tutors would do videos like this and then make individual clips showing how to do the individual steps as well would be a great experience for wannabes.
The funny part is that the building textures you’re using is actually a 3D render of a building. You’re taking a picture of a 3D model and using it as a texture for your 3D model. Nothing wrong with it, I just find it funny
can you make us a video with same concept but to turn character images to 3d ? like for exxample Leonardo or midjourney generated pixar images! that'd be interesting cuz no one on youtube did this!
@@unknownidentity8655 well I'm trying to make a model from a old game but due to me not know what the files mean I'm trying to use pictures from different angels to try to make the model.
Why am I having a hard time finding building images like this one? Can anyone recommend a search term or even a site? I googled it and got a lot of repetitive office building windows, but nothing yet like your example. Thanks!
Okay but where do I find textures for this? All the texture websites just turned into anti-consumer corporations demanding $100/month for a picture of a house
Hey buddy. Is there am easy way to turn a 3d model. In the lowest possible 2d Equivalent? Just a plane. Imagine to focus on one axis. What you See shall be the Plane, just one face
Go to edit -> preferences -> addons, search for and enable the images as planes addon (comes free with Blender). In the viewport, hit Shift + A -> Image -> As plane
It looks bad, creating 4 duplicate sides, very bad effect. The better method is this. 1. Create a large rectangle the size of an apartment building. 2. Apply a box UV map with the texture applied to all 4 sides. 3. Create edges around windows and extrude with a negative value. 4. Select all windows, give them a different material ID. 5. Apply multi-sub object material, for the material associated with the windows apply glossy reflection, and for the regular part of the building retain low gloss.
Creating entire city can now be done in just 1 week, with hundreds of building variations. Thanks a lot dude.
Any other way to create real city 3d ?

This trick only works well with hard surfaces
i was wondering how do you do this with multiple pictures? like lets say i have multiple pictures of a car but want to make it into one full thing.
if its a blueprint then its not a hard thing to do

Someone should just write a book on how to use blender, cause these tutorials are no help at all🚶🏽♂️
go do the 3d donut and then you ll understand
useless preview tooltips at the end...

How do you extrude without losing faces?
Answer to my own question: when importing the image as a plane, make sure to deselect "Show Backface".
