I read somewhere that if you delete your Lexis Nexis data (which I know is different from opting out), insurance companies might give you a hard time / treat you suspiciously when they notice that. Have you had any issues since opting out? When did you opt out and have you renewed an autoinsurance policy since without a spike in rate?
can confirm. Bought 2017 Chevy Bolt EV with ONStar (although I never connected it) in Jan 2021. My initial premium was $160/month. in 6 month it went to $240/month. I did call my agent and he told me that everybody got higher premiums recently. Now I know why. Especially I loved flooring pedal and feel that instant torque from my electric engine.
Gm has severed relationship with the two and will no longer sell the data. Seems to stem from a lawsuit. By the way, I never enrolled, they just enabled it one day and my clue was the wonderful badges I got for driving safely. 😂😂😂 To opt out click on the upper right of the app where you see your initials in a round circle. Scroll down to the gear icon “settings” and in that you can see to opt out. I’d still recommend keeping an eye on it in the future just in case they try something again. Love my Chevy, hate the monetization of “my” data so someone else can become a billionaire FYI the opt out link you provided wants your social security number. No way will I do that.
Went to a body shop a few years ago to get a shopping cart dent buffed out. Fast forward to now, I take my car to the dealer to sell my car, dealer tells me because my carfax has a damage report, we have to lower the quoted price. I didn't know why there was a damage report as I have never filed any police reports or have been in any accidents. Turns out the date of the damage report was the same date I was at the body shop. I didn't even have the work done on the car, I just got a QUOTE for the work. Turns out the software the body shop uses to make the estimates automatically sells the information about your car that the mechanic inputs. I called the body shop up, and the owner was livid. He had no idea that was going on. He called the company and ripped them a new one. I had the carfax fixed because that was completely illegal. Be careful out there, we're dealing with a next level type of evil and we have to be careful and be smart.
The "smart driver" item is something I made sure to NOT enable since I first saw it. It just seemed like a trap to me. Since I figured that if you weren't 100% compliant with ALL driving rules, as well as whatever else was in the mix, you would get penalized. I don't know ANYONE that's not exceeded the posted speeds on roads at least some of the time. IMO, if the cops don't pull you over for something, you're doing fine.
Sorry for the insurance increases due to my driving. 6.2 tuned all the way up. Last ticket 100 in 55. Cost 800$ to lawyer. No points they just want money . 😂
I think you misunderstood. Lexisnexis sells your data to your insurance company so they can use it to determine your rates, not others. It's like State Farm's Safe Driver or USAA's Safe Pilot.
However your smart phone doesn’t raise your insurance rates. They will raise your rates when it records hard braking which 9/10 times isn’t even the drivers fault to have to brake hard.
Classic GM excuse BS!!! 😂 Remember when their trucks Transmissions were blowing up and they didn't want to cover it under warranty? They said they're not liable be ause warranty covers manufacturing flaws and not design flaws, and that particular transmission had a design flaw. WAIT Who designed it??? GM 😂
relax pal, you literally have to go into the app and go thru MULTIPLE STEPS JUST LIKE HE SHOWED for it to be enabled. Don't blame others for your stupidity.
You can opt out of allowing Lexis Nexis to share your data here - optout.lexisnexis.com/
Bad link.
The link works for me.
@@babayaga2977 Good for you! Go get a juice box.
I keep getting a server connection error message….so….BAD LINK.

Need to read the privacy act!! It’s to sell your privacy! That privacy act also gives them the right to sell your info to any of there customers

GM app in Canada discontinued Smart Driver as of June,26, 2024. They’re running scared!
Good stuff. Just opt out..
We just found it on my wife's 2020 Toyota 🤬🤬🤬
We're you able to remove it?

Just another reason GM cars don't sell as well
Shared or sold? That's insane.
More likely --- SOLD!!!!

That is only two companies, what about the other hundreds of companies they are selling to. They should have said we will not sell info to nobody.
Absolutely. Same thing I thought! It’s not always what’s being said. More often than not, it’s what isn’t being said. Great comment!👊🏽💯
I hate that I love Chevy trucks and Camaro's.... OTHERWISE FUCK GM!
Agree 100% makes me want to never buy a new gm product again.
Dang im not buying the new rax now. I guess 1995 is the last year we can drive from now on
