Ride bikes. 🚲 Drink beer. 🍺 Live happy. 😀
So I always like this guy. Every video I have ever seen he is honest, joyful, kind, generous. I look up to him.
AND in this video he is so approachable. Thank you for this. I loved it.
Vermont Hills, JayP is definitely every adjective you mention... glad that it comes through in these videos :) Ride on!
AWSOME. thank you for these videos with JP
Glad you're enjoying them, Jeff :) Ride on!
Always a pleasure to watch your vids. And watching and listening to JP is like a takjng a trip back to the rad 90s mtb scene!! Lol. He is awesome. Much respect to/for him and his accomplishments!!
Hoser7 love it! rad 90's mtb scene for sure!!! ride on :)
Just Great! Thank you for sharing.
One of my favorite parts about bikepacking is the preparation and kitting up phase, the lead up to a cycling mission.
John, I agree... getting everything dialed and then having peace of mind to focus on the ride is crucial!! Ride on :)
Thanks to both of you for doing this and sharing generously!
Thanks for watching - glad you enjoyed, Rodney :)
Jay is awesome! Amazing to see his gear. So cool to see so much Japanese well made gear featured!
PedalED really does have great cycling apparel for all seasons - thanks for watching and commenting :)
Most entertaining gear video I've watched great editing and vibe.. this guy's righteous
thanks for watching, Michael :) ride on!
That was great! Thanks Dirty Teeth and JayP.
Thanks for watching, Chris! Ride on :)
Cool vid, thanks again Alan.
No pad JP, respect !!!
Shewie01, thanks for watching!
Great video and JP didn’t miss a beat. Amazing how much stuff he carried and you have to remember where everything is. lol. His substitute for a sleeping bag is terrific.
Yep, pretty thorough... so much goes into the prep and gear over a race that long!
"I like maps !" Me too. No batteries required.
Yep!! I miss Thomas guides and AAA maps too... Ride on, Troy :)
@@DirtyTeethMTBHi! How many centimeters is your height? What is the size of the bike frame?
@@Atlantis109 I about 5'9" (175.25cm) tall. My salsa cutthroat is a size medium (older version before changing sizing to cm)... if I was to get a new one, I'm kind of between the 54 and 56, and I'd probably go with the 56cm
@@DirtyTeethMTB flaanimal 5.0 size frame ?
@Snegovik77777 I don’t own a flaanimal -that’s Jay’s bike
Great presentation.
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for sharing, impressive MINIMALISM, like expert backpacker.
Thanks for watching!!
Always good to check how experienced cyclists prepare, thanks!
Thanks for watching, Noman - glad you found it worthwhile :)
This was an amazing opportunity to learn about JP setup and gear. When people started talk about Tailfin I laughed thinking to myself. It is no different then a rear rack, PR for 'bikepacking'. But now with JP prototype rear bag soon to be released. I am looking forward to getting a tailfin.
Thanks for watching and commenting, I can't wait to get my hands on one to test as well!
Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻
It is really interesting to see this kind of videos. Always learning some thing new 👌🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed this one El Viejo Pull :) Thanks for commenting!
Excellent set up! For that brutal adventure is perfect, well done. I like your sleeping system, the skirt and the jacket combination is brilliant, I did the pilgrims way in the south of England over two days and the only inconvenience I had was sleeping in a sleeping bag, it’s restrictive and uncomfortable, was thinking there must be another way but thanks to your video I can start looking for that alternative. Gracias amigo!
Thanks for watching and sharing, Victor - much appreciated!
Superb....many thanks
Thanks for watching and commenting, Alan :) Ride on!
Thank you! I imagine that’s quite an overall investment, but it’s a great set up.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Andy :) Ride on!
thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching, Jorge :) Ride on!
This was so good 👍Thanks for the post!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Foxr6 :) Ride on!
Thank you
Thanks for watching and commenting, Tom!
Great video thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed, Stephen :) Ride on!
Great Video, thanks JP, good information. I was wondering how much insulation was in the Nunatak Jacket that you could use it as a sleeping system? like 2.5 oz or the 3.5 oz ???
Hi Patrick... sorry, just saw this... Jay isn't on RUclips much... I'll try and ask him... but I doubt he'll know for sure... you might wanna contact Nunatak and ask them... small company and can probably give you a better answer: nunatakusa.com -- ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB ok, thank you. will get in touch with them
Another great video. Maybe we could see what JP does in preparation for an event in terms of research and gear selection etc.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Dan - good idea for a video :)
@@DirtyTeethMTB that’s two good ideas I’ve given you now 😂
@@danchesters8757 gotta get you on payroll!
@@DirtyTeethMTB ha ha …..content creator - has a nice ring to it 😂
Thanks for an informative video. I wonder how you deal with cleanliness with just one pair of shorts?
No easy task... :) Lotsa wet wipes!
Awesome. Thanks a ton! Hey what’s the deal with your cockpit. Looks like fold up Aerobar situation???
Yep he uses hed flip up aerobars - discontinued unfortunately
~ awesome video! Did you just bring one pair of cycling shorts and did you have different shorts for camp? Thanks!
pretty sure he just had one pair of bib shorts :) and no extra shorts for camp... ride on!
Awesome! Sleep question: I love the skirt/anorak bivy system but what do you(Mr Petevary) sleep on and for how many minutes/hours at a time?
Thanks for watching, Adam... can't speak for Jay... but if I remember, he didn't carry a pad, just what he shows in the video, and he's told me he tries to sleep for 3-4 hours at a time on the Divide... ride on!
Very cool!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Scott - ride on :)
A zip tie/ or rope, around the action of the lighter, prevents accidental discharges.
thanks for chiming in - much appreciated!! ride on :)
Good info once again
Thanks for watching and commenting, Stoychev :) Ride on!
Hi JP, I'm planning to race the tour divide next year but a bit concerned about bear country. It seems like your only deterrent was a bear whistle. Did you ever consider carrying bear spray, and why did you choose not to (weight?)? Also, did you ever have to consider food safety when sleeping overnight? I.E. what did you do with your food at nights to prevent it from getting eaten by critters or attracting bears?
Hi Sean, thanks for watching... can't speak for Jay, but most folks carry bear spray for at least the upper sections/grizzly highway of the Divide... and many folks carry paracord to hang food if they're bivying in bear country... ride on!
Thanks JP and Alan for sharing this content it was great to see the gear list after watching the divide video. I'm looking for an aerobar bag like that one. Is it a production version?
Steve, sorry this comment got past me somehow... JP's bag was custom made for him... let me know if you find someone making a purpose built aerobar bag, I'd be curious to check it out! Ride on!
Do you prefer the new 840, or still rocking the 830?
I’m currently using a 540 and enjoy it… I’m always wearing a variety of gloves, lots of cold weather riding, so don’t need touchscreen… ride on!
Cool to see a map of Kyrgyzstan on the back wall
it's pretty cool that you noticed :) ride on!
Wash with vinegar and baking soda. Jersey will smell fresh!
great tip, thanks for sharing!
I’m so surprised by the amount of things he’s carrying in his jacket Instead of on the bike. That’s a lot of Extra weight on your shoulder for many many miles
What’s the charging block ? It’s so slim
Draculapin - it's just a standard Anker cache battery - ride on!
What’re can I get one of those storage bottles he has on the down tube ?
You can go spend 15 on one or just use an old water bottle.
I’ll spend the money for the double lid thing
I know I already answered you elsewhere, but in case anyone wants the link the Zefal Z Box: amzn.to/3BvkveS
It should be sitting on my front porch when I get home from the ship today.
What up JP
I love your name, Never to poor to tour :) Ride on!
I had no idea Ed Bagley was an avid cyclist.
hahahahhaaa!
TIL it's called "Pedal Ed" and not "Pedaled"
Thanks for watching
why throw the jersey into the trash?! Just wash it lol
Haha! Definitely some truth there :) Thanks for watching and commenting, Gertsch!
