Ride bikes. 🚲 Drink beer. 🍺 Live happy. 😀 - Спорт
I think he could go into the basement of any bike shop, pick through boxes of parts, grab a frame nobody wants and put together a race winning rig. Love his approach and engineering mind. "I don't care how much it weighs" , perfect ... Thanks for sharing a valuable behind the scenes look!
Allen, there's another video idea. Something for this winter. "JayP's Basement Tour, What Ya Got!"
Glad you enjoyed, Isaak :) - yeah, he's definitely an enigma! Ride on :)
Definitely, Jeremy... a tour of the man cave would be pretty fun! you should join us for that one... I'll bring the beer!!
@@DirtyTeethMTB I got ya covered for beer, Melvin Beer. The best beer. Just tell me when.
@@jeremylarsen7353 oohhh.... me likey :)
we need a tour of JP's garage/workshop !!. Looking forward to the gear check video.
That's a great idea, Dan :) I'll put it on the list! - ps, gear check video will be coming out on Sat, Aug 7th - ride on :)
So darn good! Extremely helpful and educational from a most credible pro. Thanks man.
Love it Jay. Appreciate your open and informative videos!
Thanks for watching, Bob - Jay is a treasure trove of info!

Great video, thanks for sharing. Always watching
Thanks for watching, Shawn! Glad you enjoyed :)
Now I see where that tail light was put. Thanks for the video and looking forward to seeing the gear in the bags vid.
Thanks for watching and commenting, John... trying to get the next one edited soon... but all the great Summer riding is distracting me!!
Chapeau Jay ,another great video.
Thanks for watching, Stephen - ride on!
Thanks for sharing! The great divide is on my list of rides I want to do in my lifetime.

The TD won’t disappoint. I’m going back when the world sorts it’s self out !!
Great bike, great guy, great video. Thanks Alan.
Dave! Thanks for watching, brother :) Ride on!
Great video as always. Thank you
Thanks or watching Marcin!! Glad you enjoyed :)
Great to see the kLite Bikepacker ULTRA V2 used for the dynamo light! Fantastic piece of kit!
It definitely is, Jon - I'll be putting out a long-term review of it next month, ride on!
Great video, thanks for sharing. I have a Tailfin rack. Luckily the steel version as I crashed the other week and bent it, it just bent back though. Great bit of kit.
Much Love Ed
Ed, thanks for watching and chiming in :) Glad the tailfin is all that was bent!!! Ride on :)
Like your attention to detail and high end componentry. The ergonomics, suspension and satellite shifters must be superb. Kudos!
Timbo, he definitely thinks about every single aspect of the setup... wait until you see the clothing and kit breakdown... coming at ya next week :) ride on!
Great video! Thank you.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Glen :) Ride on!
That tailfin prototype looks awesome. I have one myself, added with a rockgeist cubenbag and the armadillo. But this one looks very very good
I do hope they decide to produce a version of this prototype... crossing fingers :) I'd love to get one in my hands to test it as well... but seeing how well it handled JayP's divide race, probably nuff said...
This was great
Thanks for watching :)
Nice bike and set up! Great video!
Thanks for watching and your kind words, Omare :) Ride on!
So good 😊
Glad you enjoyed, Stu :) Ride on!
Awesome!

Well done Brotha. ✌️
Thanks for watching and commenting, Bud :) Ride on!
that's some serious bike
It's a pretty legit setup, right ? Thanks for watching, Draculapin :)
That tail fin is intriguing
yes it is, Corey... hope to see some version of this prototype model come to fruit :) ride on!
Great ride dude!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Troy :)
Funny have been planning almost the exact same cockpit setup (grx di2) with the extra brakes and shifters for my new build great minds think alike ;)
stumpy519, sounds like you have a pretty sweet bike build in the works.... congrats :) ride on!
I realy like the tailfin :) something on my to get list for next year :)
ya, Paul... it's pretty sweet, especially with the mods to this prototype... I hope they adapt some of these ideas on a production model soon :) ride on!
Alan, this is one of the videos I keep coming back to over the past couple of years, as I make adjustments to my rig/ kit, and I keep noticing different things.
Now looking for the aerobars set up, I think of going the Fredbar route with Profile Design Ergo Flip 50. BUT I wish the HED flip up Jay has in this video were still available (can't find them in production or selling) -- it seems like HED would rattle less and the hand rails come out from the clamp, not from below it like with the Profile Design, giving a more natural hand position.
Alan, maybe you can share some of your experience or hacks with your aerobar set up?
Yeah, I wish HED never discontinued those flip up aerobars! I've been hoping some would pop up on eBay for years... I just use some older Syntace C3 aerobars (which might also be discontinued now), mounted to a Fred Bar. I like the shape and they're super comfy, but don't flip up... so I've just gotten used to not being able to access feed bags that easily... wish I had more to offer! Ride on :)
Jay P's usual superlative bike check for us gearheads.
When you hear 44-32-22 and supermodel Kate Upton isn't even on your radar, cuz you're thinkin bout' Chainrings, Cassettes, and Gear Inches........😁 Happy New Year 2022 to all. Ride safe brothers & sisters.
Haha 😂 thanks for that Phil - cheers to a fantastic 2022 for you as well! 🍻
@@DirtyTeethMTB Hahaha back at ya. I might have to recalibrate. Ask Jay P in ID. Here is Kate Upton in a 1 mike Cat Daddy dance that I can't at the moment translate into gear inches. ruclips.net/video/MCUnWIs88CQ/видео.html

I am certain your schedule is crazy busy, however it would be awesome to have you come speak to my high school students. You are a great example of overcoming obstacles through pure grit, determination, and perseverance which are characteristics we embrace. Our students would love to hear from you, Jay. We would even let you bring Dirty Teeth as he seems like an okay guy!

@@DirtyTeethMTB Thanks for responding! It would be awesome if you two could make it out this way. I would do whatever I could to make it happen.

@@jaypetervary5358 Sounds good, Jay. I sent you a private message through Facebook.
Great video, as usual! Tks Jay and Alan for posting! Any chance you could provide a link to the HED aerobar, pads, and risers that Jay described on his bike? Thanks much!
They discontinued them years ago.
Another top video thanks. Where did you get the flip elbow pads, or were they custom made? Thanks in advance
Adam, Jay is using HED cliplite aerobars - he's had them for years, but unfortunately they're discontinued :(
Congrats on the win! You're an inspiration to us older folks! Haha Quick question, no issues with recharging the Di2?
Thanks for watching Wai Sing Lee... he talks about it in the next video on gear/kit (I'm editing it now and will post next week) - but he carried 2 di2 batteries and had no issues... they charge fast and last a long time... ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB Two!? Wow....okay, looking forward to it!
An absolutely unbelievable race Jay! For anyone who doesn't know, he completed the route in less than 15 days. What was the biggest day mileage wise?
yep, dirtnastyish, pretty stellar rides by him and Brendan... I asked Jay/Brendan that question during our Q&A and neither of them really kept track of that stuff... more concerned with time on/off the bike... but probably ~ 180-200ish... ride on!
great burn it down presentation!! feelin sorta plain and ordinary, but that's okay
hahaha, thanks for watching and commenting, Greg - ya, feeling sort of plain and ordinary over here too :) definitely ok! ride on :)
What about the beautiful Salsa WarBird you used to showcase the GRX a couple of years ago? I like the Flaanimal & the Trail Donkey, but the 2019 and newer WarBird is an aesthetic marvel very few bikes can match.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Leo!
AeroBars that flip up and don’t rattle like my ProfileDesigns ones do! What are thooose!!!!
I wish they still made them, Gary! HED clip lite aerobars... they gotta bring them back, they'd make a killing :)
Why the Tailfin rack and not just a seat bag? Does the rack add something that I've been missing? Thanks
boneshaker panniers- many people don't the the "shaking" or "swaying" from heavy seatbags... and certain dropper post compatibility issues, or fitment on smaller frames, etc so there's been a trend back towards rear racks - all subjective, personal preference, and ride/terrain dependent, but always nice to have options IMO - ride on!!
Could the 10-45 rhythm step cassette work with this set up? I think I'll need a bail out gear.
42 is already stretching it... you'd have to test yourself... maybe a goat link would help? hit up wolftooth and get their thoughts? I'm curious to see if it works!! ride on :)
s0 good
thanks for watching and commenting, Vermont Hills :)
Bikes, dude.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Joe :) Ride on!
👍
Fizik Airione here. Other videos I've seen the Fizik Tundra with those flexy wings. Which do you prefer?
Paul, I know this question is directed at Jay... and don't wanna answer for him... but seems like he goes Arione for more "gravel/road" stuff and Tundra for "mtb/fat bike"... FWIW, I've been rocking the Gobi with wings for a while and dig it... anyhoo, thanks for watching and commenting! Ride on :)
Yeah, what Alan said...2 different positions means 2 different saddles.
What was the brand of the cargo bottle? Zephyl? Zethyl?
Thanks for watching, Vic :) It's a Zefal Z-box Storage Container: amzn.to/3BvkveS -- works great and is cheap, I have the same one... ride on!
Great video! Why not to use full framebag?? Btw, you both should come to acrossandes in Chile!
I wanted to try a different system and had a goal to mount nothing on the fork legs. Aero...
Pancho, you had me at Chile!! Gotta put acrossandes on the list!!! Ride on :)
Whats that thing called used to mount the aerobars separately from the handlebar? Could not quite understand the name of it in die video.
ohh ... Fred Bar (should have typed in my question from above to google first ;-)
Yep, It’s called a Fred Bar 👍 ride on!
How’s the mezcals in wet muddy conditions? Thinking about it but want tire that can handle wet decently too. Is barzo ok or too slow rolling?
Mezcals are good all around tire with low rolling resistance... that's why so many are using it on the divide... barzo is great, a little grippier, but a little slower rolling IMO - ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB I was mainly concerned about mud. Any experience in that? How much clearance would you say it's safer especially on carbon frame?
@@samuraioodon mezcals are so-so in mud, in terms of handling, sliding out, etc... not as good as a knobbier tire... but in terms of shedding mud, they're pretty good... clearance depends on your frame and fork, but you'll have slightly more clearance than that of a knobbier tire, with similar width, volume, etc - hope that helps :)
At 8:43, is he missing a few brake rotor bolts? Either he's tryna save a few grams or they rattled out!
He just rides with 3... but as you'll see in the next video with his kit unpacked, definitely not gram counting :) ride on!
?????@@DirtyTeethMTB
Did the 11-46 cassette require a goatlink or did it work straight out of the box? I hope it also works with ultegra di2.
46 or 42?
My bad, I mistyped and originally meant 11-42.
@@kirkpatrickang4599 no problemo
I know I'm late to this, but I'm just confirming - he did not use a goat link, ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB Awesome. thank you for the heads up!
Thanks for the vid! Got a question: how much does your bike weigh? ;-)
Michel, Jay hasn't weighed it... mentions at the end of the video - ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB lol, I know so it triggered the smartass question... Keep up the good work!
@@mvc2000dw I'll tell ya though, it ain't light. I picked it up and moved it around a bunch... steel is real :)
