this guy dserves more visibility on youtube. cool dude
!!!
Heck yeah, I really enjoyed this video!
Agreed...I'm surprised there isn't more views on his channel...great production, music, content, etc...
THIS.
I like to see channels grow that are putting out good stuff. I started a RUclips channel but it's mostly for fun, not many people are familiar with Spain. Gravel bikes are catching on here.
Thanks for the shout out! FYI Dustin rode up mt. hood and down this massive DH shuttle run on this thing and dusted some endurbros. party on
I still have to edit that footage too. Should be able to get a proper edit out of that one...my damn hands still hurt from that decent..LOL
got blisters from the T2T/Pioneer Bridle descent on my full squish fat bike. Teeth chattering to say the least
Dustin, no one does a better job editing or incorporates more effective creative music in their video's! Another amazing job Dustin!
I got into watching your station initially because it popped up when i was looking for NW Oregon and gravel. I have watched several of your videos now over the last bunch of months, and I love the mix of rides, technical stuff (like this), advice (like the mapping one recently), and other ramblings.
This is some of the bike tech stuff I love to see, where someone gives the build and then gives some idea of the why of each choice, which I find the most helpful as it helps one's viewers also pick and choose which pieces they may want to adopt.
Nicely done!
Man, I'm glad I found your channel. I have been on the Bombtrack for the last week and you basically helped me out so much. I have one on order and not to jack you but I'm setting mine up just like yours. Well, not the paint job but the dropper post and tires that is. You're the only person on RUclips that has actually talked about it in depth, so I thank you for that.
Yeah player!
Stoked you were able to pick up some tips. Those tires(and wheels) make a big difference. Wide and stable able to handle some business. 👊
I just watched this again. Thanks for taking the time to explain what's on the build and why, and with your trademark kind of humor and wit.
Your setup is near identical to mine (even painted my forks myself, just not the frame - I actually came across your vid painting yours when researching painting a carbon bike). I'm Running a Planet X carbon frame which is visually very similar - only draw back is no rack mounts, which is something I will look for in my next frame when I decided to upgrade. My bike bag setup hasn't hindered this though but it's nice to have those options. My best investment on it this year has been the Brooks Cambium C17 Carved which I picked up for a steal at £80. I wasn't sure about the hype surrounding them but with over 1500km on it already and it's been a game changer. Got a 400km ride coming up next week which will be the longest single ride on it (175km has been my longest ride with it so far) but I honestly forget about it it's that good.
I LOVE my gravel kings put about 2000km on them over summer - have just switched them over to Jack Brown Blues (now made by Panaracer) for my longer ride as will have more B roads then gravel and they shred hard (and look cool as fuck)! Will be back on the GK's after the ride for winter.
Dropper post intrigues me a - you should do a vid on the pros and cons of it.
Subbed - Keep shredin' 🤘
This is the dream build. So glad you went full-enduro with a dropper and hacked in the brifter actuation no less! Droppers are one of those things that make riding SO FUN. Worth every gram and I'm looking at getting the externally routed PDW Pine to swap between my rigid 29er and Spec diverge. One dropper benefit you didn't mention is how it allows you to get in a much better body position for railing tight corners, etc. Can't wait to see more videos showcasing how this thing rides...
Good points on the dropper. I am new to them and your totally right they shin the brightest on the single track!
Congratulations to Dustin on a beauty of a bike! Thanks for the great dropper post operation from the LH shifter idea, I just might use that some day! It's great to see someone as excited about a new bike as I get!
Sweet build, Dustin! I'm with you on SRAM and 1X. I'm frankly surprised too that droppers are not more common in gravel builds. Or road bikes for that matter, but look at the resistance to discs in the road bike world. I'm sure that things will change as people's opinions evolve.
Excellent video. I'm currently shopping for a gravel bike to do some on and offroad bike packing, and came across your channel... Keep up the good work.
Annalisa helped me with my bike fit a few months ago when she was down at Golden Saddle Cyclery. Super nice and extremely knowledgeable! We only had an hour but we were able to make some pretty noticeable adjustments to my fit. I've been riding for 7-8 years and have never felt more comfortable on a bike.
gravel kings are one of the best upgrades I made on my gravel bike. build looks awesome!
Good call!
Loved it! New subed. Being a roadie, I love my 2X chainrings on my gravel build. I guess I love my cadence! Cheers
The best bicycle in the world is the one you like to ride! I'm absolutely convinced I've got the best gravel bike in Spain, for me!
Another great video! Love the build. Purchased a set of Venture max bars at your recommendation WOW these bars are comfy. Totally changed my ride making it super stable. Thanks again man
That is so rad! very stoked youve been feeling the Venture max bars!! Cheers
I really like your bike build philosophy. It's just how I choose my bike builds too. I also like the editing, music and your presentation fits together and works perfectly. Just like the bike build!
Really nice Video, nice bike. Live in Cologne/Germany (where the bombtrack home is). The bombtrack bikes in general for me, are to "Hipsteresque" ...Love the simplisity of my own Ascent, most equipped with Ritchey Parts, but EvoMax instead of VentureMax, love your Ascent. That is the/your best frame/bike. Steel ist real!
Thanks for sharing your nice Videos.
Beautiful build! Love the camo!
Thanks Player!
Look who's here!
This video was absolutely f’in amazing. So informative, hats off my man.
Cheers player!
Love this review, and especially the Outershell handlebar bag. Did not regret to buy one!
That bag is very on point for sure!
got the same Panaracer , with brown sides, on a DT Swiss p1800 Spline, also tubeless and i absolutely adore those tyres. I have a friend who has the same tyres on his Cyclocross and he is also in love with them! Also now they make them in green, i saw them on eurobike this year-on this bike, DUDE, IT WIL LOOK TOTALY INSANE!!!
well done, dude... absolutely perfect... lovin' it!
Lovely bike. Would love something like this for my commute.
Awesome build. Love the paint job. Are you planning to paint the fenders to match...? I personally do not like like SRAM (came with my Kona Rove) but to each his own...ride your ride. Great video....again!
Love the bike and the video. That said, the Ritchey Ascent is my favorite bike of yours! Make sure to keep it in your rotation and in your videos! At least until I can afford one of my own!✌🏻
I like how the Chris King BB is the high vis orange. It’s the little things
Awesome movie about your bike! Great way how you present your journey to build it, put the pieces together and why you chose those pieces in particular! Love to see more of your (in my sense) "awesome dream bikes"! Cheers, keep on going! Best wishes from Switzerland!
much repsect! Thank you for the positive feed back! More to come for sure.
How much have you approximately spent on this beautiful bike?
Love it. Looking for advice on sanding out an aluminum trek frame that was super screwed up by former owner. Paint chips, notched, scraped. Want to know what to use to sand? Wire wheel? To repaint. Thanks
Love the vid, love the bike, and love some of those plants in the background.
Love the video man, ride on! You can never have too many custom bikes.....never!
No truer words have been said!
Brilliant video.Very entertaining and compulsive to watch. Love the bike
👊👊👊
This video is so Portland. Love the tangents and the wheel talk. Great to see Annalisa getting a shout out at Endurance PDX. The Audax Al is 23 pounds. Im thinking that will be my next buy. Will look into those Panaracers.
Love this video. The bike is epic. That paint is amazing I want one !!!
Just found your videos via the Radavist. Your bike vids are so good! This bombtrack bike check was awesome! You are great in front of the camera. Keep em coming!
So funny, you have an almost identical setup(drivetrain wise) to my Surly Midnight Special build. Custom built with Force 1x, Red HRD with 160mm disc up front(also a friend hookup) and Force HRD with a 140mm on the back. I would do a dropper post too, but there's no hills in the Midwest to justify it. Anyways, cool build and have fun riding!
Yes, this is sick. nice work man, and thanks for all the deets.
Really awesome! Looks fantastic...
I would love to see it with the camo wheels on brother another cracking video love from across the pond
I've got the same Gravel King SKs in 650B on my Specialized Sequoia. On my Hunt Adventure Sport rims (inner width 25mm) they come up almost true to size at 49mm, a lot narrower than on your rims. Just as well, as another couple of millimetres and those babies would grind to a halt in the back at the first sign of mud.
Love those tires!
DUDE!!! Seriously the best bike check I've ever seen!!!
Sweet build! I love the camo paintjob. That dropper-lever-thingy is trick AF!
Thats what up!
Norco does the Left lever dropper post trigger on their Search XR gravel bike from stock! such a sweet solution
I just picked up some Gravelkings SK's , running the G -One now tubeless.
Youll be stoked on the durability of the GK SK's
Well done and thought out sir.
Great video. Bike looks really good and I bet it's a blast to ride. My bike is a Fuji Sportive and it has the same setup for the brakes as yours. 140mm in the back and 160mm in the front.
Rad, thought it might be a bit more common then I thought. Sounds like a rad bike.
They are rad bikes. Very versatile. Go on long rides because of the more upright sitting position but with enough clearance to add wider tires on it. Keep on keeping on, duder.
You really nailed this build. Love the use of "Multicam" camo. Nice setup..
I'm glad you like it! Much respect.
Looks so good 🔥🔥
So sick! Dropper to the left shifter is brilliant.
Dustin is the best!
Loving this bike. Damn! And those wheels.
My own limited experience on my own gravel grinder has been leading me to a similar conclusion build wise, especially with respect to the dropper and 47mm tires over 38 (max. I can fit is 40mm, bike came with 38mm).
I wasn’t sure about the compact double up front, but on flatter terrain I like it, the 11-32 cassette is easy-peasy on the road, but a 11-36 would be better minimum for those long 12% plus skidder and fire roads.
And I had the same question do I want a 22lb XC bike or a 22lb gravel bike...more cush or the challenge of underbiking?
Oh, and baggies all the way, eh.
Totally agree 2x on the flats is the JAM. I think N+1 is a good default when trying to figure between bikes ;)

Road bar tape: a mystery
PRO!
Solid job! I'm really enjoying your videos!
Thanks for the review. Clearly an awesome bike. I’m looking to build one up for myself but unsure of small/52cm vs medium/54cm.
The standover height of my current bike, a medium/54cm Open UPPER, is 767mm and leaves me almost 2” of space between the TT and my junk (I’m 5’8”). But the Medium/54cm Hook EXT-C has a standover height of 804mm.
How tall are you Dustin? What’s your inseam? What size frame did you get? I plan on running 650b with WTB byways. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Great video, sweet build!
Ha, nice selection, that Cinelli topography tape is fun, done up a few customer's bikes with it (alas, I prefer grippier tapes).
A Working-class asth... asth... athlete is something to be. I am shopping for a wireless dropper post for my Fargo build😃
That bar tape is new old stock Cadence.
Your Fargo sounds like it will be legit!
love the dropper post routed to the left lever trick! shawn at sun and air did it on his drop bar mtb also.
Its such a cool feature!
NICE ONE! Sweet looking bike ;) Got my heart set on the Niner Magic Carpet Ride, that's gonna float my boat.
Many Thanks for the vid, and Kind Regards for the build list. :)
Sweet build Dustin, thanks for sharing. Hey where can I get hold some of that sweet Cadence bar tape? Can't see it on the cadence Collective site and I'm keen to represent, and bling up my gravel slayer....Thanks
love my ext-c. it's mostly stock, with some carbon 29er xc wheels, but it rips. we're 3500km/2000mi into our relationship and it's as hot as ever
love that paint job
So the ext c will fit 29er?
@@fractalofgod6324 the fattest i've put on is 700x42, but they measure out at 45 (23mm internal rim) and there's a ton more clearance. i'd hazard to guess you could mount 2 inch 29er tires easily.
`I've got Gravel Kings on my road bike and had the SK's on their all winter, 26mm....the dropper's a big deal, we rode our sequoia's out in tucson over the winter and on loose gravel, stone, steep woulda come in handy.Five outta Five, great work !
Sounds like you've got some pretty smart builds!
Dude a dropper post on a gravel bike Awesome I was thinking to do this also! LOve it
Damn. The multicam paint job on this bike is absolutely amazing.
This Bombtrack looks fantastic, good job! "Steel is real", though. ;-) I own an Ascent too, and I'm in love with it (yes, it's a bit heavy, but it's ok for me).
So rad you have an Ascent! That bike is so good! I still love mine. Looks so fresh and rides just right.
Outstanding bike 😍
Plants are looking good man! Also that bombtrack looks like a lot of fun!
its such a ripper
This was my first foray into the world of Klein....... slippery slope! 😂🤘🏻
My man!!
Way classic vid, totally relatable. Don’t stop. Bend , OR.
might check out those panaracer gravel king tires for an old 1985 miyata 210 I've updated with 700c wheels and 8 speed cassette. not tubeless of course
I love your videos man, I love your garden also! Haha! Most of all I aspire to produce videos half as good as yours, I’ve only just begun, and its hard!! .. keep on keeping on. Thanks!!
That bike looks like a carbonda cfr 696. Do you know where these frames are built and how much is one?
Stumbled upon your channel today. I really like your style!
Love to hear this!! Stoked you found it.
FINALLY !!! waited sooo long for this vid...looks amazing!!!!!,similar Setup than mine.just came back from my tour to the Eastern Sea/German Coast with my Steel Hook EXT. Shortend it up a bit...By the Numbers:1402 Km/ 12700 Hm.Always Headwind up and down :(....The Bike served me very well, i had not one fail or flat in any components also because i did the build by my self witch is critical i think...if i ever come to the states i have to visit your place...talking bikes and smoke some weed ;)
Incredible build enjoy the ride
hmmm would you get the redshift suspension stem? please post a review if you can. thanks
I am open to trying this. I would need a contact over at redshift tho
Thanks for the tip on bars.... Epic👌
would be awesome to get these wheels in 700! great video dude!!!
Great guy. Love the calipers. Awesome Gravelbike 🤘😎🤙
7:00 no freakin' way😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dude you are freakin' genius 🤙😂🤙😂
Hey you mtb road concerns over the world - you must have to are required to sponsor this guy
CHEERZ
Loving your stuff, Dustin
Respect!
The Frame/fork looks like one I checked out on Bikes Direct
Hi, quick question : what's the size of your bombtrack and what'your height ? Thanks for'hour help.
Very nice bike man!
Love it! Nice video mate ;)
Love your garden. Your time management skills are right there, man. Not sure how you get it all done.
Much respect my dude! I do what I can. The Plants help keep me in major multi task mode ;)
love that bike...am jealous
Awesome summary of your ride! Do you have the same type info video to the Wilier Triestina Jena?
Looks amazing.
Really love those bars, may have to try them out.
Currently running a croix de fer 30 2016 version I’m the root beer colour way.
Love the look of it.
Can you link the company that sorted your bike bags please?
I’ve just gone to the same gravel kings on a set of hope 20five wheels, roll so sweet on the tarmac as well as gravel.
Love that style, must see if it’s available in the uk, although I’ve got my eye on the new 650b option coming from Saracen Bikes for 2019
Bag link is in the descriptions. Will do you a solid: Bags: Outershell: bit.ly/2KPjgzO
Perfection is in the eyes of the beholder! But they keep getting closer huh!
I am going to have an almost identical build for a new LOW// Gravel! Does the brake+dropper lever require any additional customization or is it pretty much the same mechanism that raises/lowers the seatpost?
Your Low// sounds Epic! Dustin made the dropper happen. I am not totally sure what he did to make this happen, but there was some re working that he did.
Your video is gold even in 2020 .
Massive compliment!
Nice videos man!
Just got a Bombtrack too! I love it ❤️
That is one epic build!!
CHEERZZZZ
Dustin Klein any plans to do videos on your other bikes?
Great video!
Where are these available in the U.S.?
Looking for a new frame.
Hey Dustin I am also looking to buy a bombtrack hook ext c. I am 6’ with about a 32 inseam. I saw you run the medium size frame. I also saw you say you were running the 56-57. The site shows the medium is a 54. Just wondering if you could help me out thanks!
No words, dream bike
Respect!
What a rad bike! "Very nice" indeed.
Cool Dude, cool video, and a great build!
Respect!
Am I four years late? Yes. But is this bike amazing me to this day? Absolutely. What a crazy, awesome build. This thing seems like a dream to ride. You’ve got me 300% invested in running 650b on gravel bikes. When I build/get one that will be the way I go.
You are 4 years right on time!
Keep us posted on your new build, Im excited to hear what you think.
@@EverythingsBeenDoneDo you still ride this Bombtrack or did sell for your Wilier?
Cool build.
Do you feel like the dropper is worth the weight? With your carbon frame its still a light 22 lbs but with say my heavy ass Salsa..now we’re getting husky..
