It did, but the version found in the mod Dunkey was talking about isn't what we're familiar with today. That version is more of a vs. game, sending the enemies at your opponent, compared to the PvE popularized by flash games like Tower Defense and Bloons TD. Though, the mod dunkey was talking about does live on in spirit with some games like Bloons TD Battles.

Quitting League was the best idea I have had, a life-improving decision but it's hard to blame Riot for not doing the impossible. They need to keep the game fresh with new champions or the game would have died long ago. I loved the sheep tag, rkr, polar escape and the halo survival games witch were basically early zombies wave games. My cousin was still playing broken alliances on there till the bot got taken down.
Nice. Warcraft III was amazing. The normal campaign was amongst the best out of any RTS, but even that was nothing compared to its amazing multiplayer. It still has an active community, and I think it's growing now that Blizzard is remaking the game. I played it almost every day for around 10 years and still occasionally play it. Edit: I haven't played it since reforged. They fucking massacred the game.

I only had the Shrek fighting game on my GBC, which ironically...WAS GREEN. Tbh it seems like a LOT of Gameboy/GBC/GBA/SP games were trash except for the likes of Pokémon and other Nintendo franchises like Zelda, Kirby, Metroid. The non-Nintendo property games always seemed like garbage and I always seemed to find myself with a litany of shitty movie tie-in games like Disney’s Atlantis, 101 Dalmatians, Shrek fighting game, some Spongebob games. I mean, obviously I had all instalments of the classic original 3 Pokémon generations - Red/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal, and Ruby/Sapphire (I never actually did get Emerald, now that I think about it), as well as a couple Zelda and Mario games - both original games for the Gameboy and ports/remakes of old NES/SNES titles for the Gameboy. And I still have and love Kirby’s Nightmare in Dreamland. And you know what, I kinda enjoyed that Megaman Battle Network or Battle Nexus or whatever it was for the Gameboy Advance SP too (the one that operated as a turn-based fighting game). It’s just weird looking back 15 to 20 years later and seeing just how much of a mixed bag it was when it came to the Gameboy games I had and played to death throughout childhood. Though I suppose none of them would or could ever be worse than the two Tiger Handheld game consoles I had - Disney’s Gargoyles....and FUCKING POCAHONTAS. @@GG-ud5jl All maps have evened out a bit more since bots are gone and anyone can host. You can see lobby playercounts and search for lobbies as well now. It's not like DotA and TD spam clogging up the entire list anymore! Sheep tag will definitely fill.
Many still live on in the Dota 2 custom games. That's why Autochess became so popular. People were already playing a lot of this custom games until 300K people started playing Autochess every day because It was new and fun!

A lot of people played it (myself not included) and still play it and the strength of that following could be said to be the main reason why the other battle royale modes became a thing.

Matchmaking is up to who you queue up with cause solo queue will pit you against groups. The game has soo many champions that there will constantly be matches where entire teams counter each other. People will constantly leave and throw games so then you get comeback victories.
@@notwise9455 I've found that my lobbies have been fairly consistent. The number of games I can high roll stomp is extremely low, like 1 in 60-70 games. I've found that I have to use my brain to get a top 4. Idk what elo you're playing at where DCs are an issue. In the meta comps right now, some comps counter each other but there are 6-7 comps that can win a lobby. It's as balanced as this genre of game can get. It may not be as fun as it used to be, but it's balanced. I don't see where this criticism is coming from.

Legion TD, Element TD, and Impossible Bosses all became full independent releases. DotA is the spotlight one of course, but it's much more than 1 guy moving on. Essentially all of the half a dozen major developers either worked for Valve or Riot, especially with Icefrog being the lead developer of Dota 2. Some other early wc3 MOBAs that stemmed from DotA are in progress, with Rise of Winterchill made by the creator of one the DotA variants, DotA Outland. I'm sure that there are more that I can't think of right away.

I absolutely loved Tower Defence Wars from Warcraft 3. Playing it was such a cool balancing act. Sending creeps into your enemies mazes increased your per minute income, but fed them money from the kills. The more money you saved up, the larger and more dangerous you could make the wave of creeps, to hopefully overwhelm them, but your income stagnated because you weren't sending creeps for a couple of minutes. One custom game mode from Warcraft 3 that sort of made it into the wider world was the hero arena PvE mode. Where you and a couple of other people had a hero that you leveled up while fighting off progressivly tougher waves of AI controlled mobs. I'm thinking of the multiplayer arena from Dawn of War 2 as an example. Also putting it out there, Warcarft 3 had a Warcraft MMO custom mode *LONG* before World Of Warcraft. It was a longform multiplayer RPG that took many days, over a gigantic map and when you loaded it up with, like, 15 other strangers, you all selected characters that, as they leveled up and got new items, generated codes that you could input into the map when it loaded so that, when you came back the next day, your character retained progress over the weeks you played it. It had towns, quests, respawning creeps, dungeons, multi-man raid bosses and all that jazz. I'm pretty sure I put hundreds of hours into that one map alone. I wish I could remember the name of the map, but whoever made it was a visionary genius. You know, I'm going to put this out there. The Warcraft 3 custom map tools that Blizzard made was probably one of the most important things ever created for western pc gaming. So much of what was made on there was literally years if not decades ahead of its time and I don't doubt it inspired the game designers to come later.
Giving me some hard nostalgia for WC3 customs. My favorite was wintermaul wars, which was a specific version of TD war. I had this group of friends I played with all the time and I spent soooooooo many hours doing those. WC3 custom games were really such a unique and special thing that I've never quite felt has been captured again in gaming. I mean that whole time period was great and maybe the only thing comparable are the half-life mods / counter-strike mods and all the things that were spawned out of those.

I mean, obviously I had all instalments of the classic original 3 Pokémon generations - Red/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal, and Ruby/Sapphire (I never actually did get Emerald, now that I think about it), as well as a couple Zelda and Mario games - both original games for the Gameboy and ports/remakes of old NES/SNES titles for the Gameboy. And I still have and love Kirby’s Nightmare in Dreamland. And you know what, I kinda enjoyed that Megaman Battle Network or Battle Nexus or whatever it was for the Gameboy Advance SP too (the one that operated as a turn-based fighting game).
It’s just weird looking back 15 to 20 years later and seeing just how much of a mixed bag it was when it came to the Gameboy games I had and played to death throughout childhood. Though I suppose none of them would or could ever be worse than the two Tiger Handheld game consoles I had - Disney’s Gargoyles....and FUCKING POCAHONTAS. Dunno what the games were or looked like or what you did in em, cuz I could never make out WHAT THE FUCK WAS HAPPENING ON SCREEN OR WHAT THE BUTTONS DID, if they even did anything at all!!

Those old Warcraft III custom games, there are a lot of them on Dota 2’s custom game gallery as well.
Most of them suck sadly, HVH, Angel Arena, all the anime battlers and the tower defences just don't feel the same. Whether that's due to the developers or the Dota 2 tools will be clear once WC3 reforged releases

Matchmaking is up to who you queue up with cause solo queue will pit you against groups.
The game has soo many champions that there will constantly be matches where entire teams counter each other.
People will constantly leave and throw games so then you get comeback victories.
@@notwise9455 I've found that my lobbies have been fairly consistent. The number of games I can high roll stomp is extremely low, like 1 in 60-70 games.
I've found that I have to use my brain to get a top 4. Idk what elo you're playing at where DCs are an issue.
In the meta comps right now, some comps counter each other but there are 6-7 comps that can win a lobby.
It's as balanced as this genre of game can get. It may not be as fun as it used to be, but it's balanced. I don't see where this criticism is coming from.

Legion TD from Warcraft 3 actually became a thing. It´s available on Steam as a game by itself.
Legion TD, Element TD, and Impossible Bosses all became full independent releases. DotA is the spotlight one of course, but it's much more than 1 guy moving on. Essentially all of the half a dozen major developers either worked for Valve or Riot, especially with Icefrog being the lead developer of Dota 2.
Some other early wc3 MOBAs that stemmed from DotA are in progress, with Rise of Winterchill made by the creator of one the DotA variants, DotA Outland.
I'm sure that there are more that I can't think of right away.
And now in 2020 Blizzard has honoured all those custom built games in Warcraft 3 by basically giving a giant middle finger to everyone.

@@Monk3y_C Yeah, I still hop in to training mode every once in a while with the discord build, it was super cool of the devs to release it, and also by extension cool of riot for letting them I guess, assuming it was in their power to stop them legally.
I absolutely loved Tower Defence Wars from Warcraft 3. Playing it was such a cool balancing act. Sending creeps into your enemies mazes increased your per minute income, but fed them money from the kills. The more money you saved up, the larger and more dangerous you could make the wave of creeps, to hopefully overwhelm them, but your income stagnated because you weren't sending creeps for a couple of minutes.
One custom game mode from Warcraft 3 that sort of made it into the wider world was the hero arena PvE mode. Where you and a couple of other people had a hero that you leveled up while fighting off progressivly tougher waves of AI controlled mobs. I'm thinking of the multiplayer arena from Dawn of War 2 as an example.
Also putting it out there, Warcarft 3 had a Warcraft MMO custom mode *LONG* before World Of Warcraft. It was a longform multiplayer RPG that took many days, over a gigantic map and when you loaded it up with, like, 15 other strangers, you all selected characters that, as they leveled up and got new items, generated codes that you could input into the map when it loaded so that, when you came back the next day, your character retained progress over the weeks you played it. It had towns, quests, respawning creeps, dungeons, multi-man raid bosses and all that jazz. I'm pretty sure I put hundreds of hours into that one map alone. I wish I could remember the name of the map, but whoever made it was a visionary genius.
You know, I'm going to put this out there. The Warcraft 3 custom map tools that Blizzard made was probably one of the most important things ever created for western pc gaming. So much of what was made on there was literally years if not decades ahead of its time and I don't doubt it inspired the game designers to come later.

I loved Footmen Frenzy. I've been dreaming of an alternate reality where Footmen Frenzy grew into a genre instead of Dota for years.
Giving me some hard nostalgia for WC3 customs. My favorite was wintermaul wars, which was a specific version of TD war. I had this group of friends I played with all the time and I spent soooooooo many hours doing those. WC3 custom games were really such a unique and special thing that I've never quite felt has been captured again in gaming. I mean that whole time period was great and maybe the only thing comparable are the half-life mods / counter-strike mods and all the things that were spawned out of those.
I'm sure Nickelodeon Kart racers would work on the iMac
