Spot on with the 'not entitled' and 'raw' comments about City fans. There's a banner i see on away days that reads' Manchester City - The Worlds Biggest Small Club', which sums up our view of ourselves perfectly. Great video and look forward to viewing your upcoming videos. Also you parked in Clayton, if you park the other side you'll only be a 15-20 min walk to the City centre. 5 mins and £7 in a cab then from the Centre to the Etihad

Well done lads, shame you couldn’t find a pub and you are right City fans are humble and remember what happens when the money runs out. However what makes us special is when it was bad we kept turning up in numbers even in the lower leagues. Will keep watching lads and see how it turns out at the end of the season. CTID.

As a City fan (And season ticker holder in block 116) I really enjoyed this fellas, very fair and respectful assessment. Think your food & drink costs score was a bit harsh, I feel that the pricing at the Etihad is representative of most Premier League clubs, which is always going to be more expensive than at other places outside the stadium. There used to be a couple of pubs nearby for away fans, sadly a lot of pubs have closed down over the years, hopefully with the new arena, this will bring more options for F&B for away fans.
Te pre-match entertainment net to City Square is aimed at families and children, and is situated outside the family stand, so it's not going to be to everyones tastes. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit anyway, I have subscribed and I'll be interested to see how you get on for the rest of the season. I go to away games as well so am intrigued to see how our experiences compare. All the best for the season anyway. Keep up the good work!
Tip for next time you visit, there's an area called Ancoats which is about a 10-15 minute walk away towards the city centre, there's many options around there for food and drink, and this area is growing and developing, so bear this in mind for next season 🙂

City season ticket holder of 30 years (and I’m 38). Good video - mostly quite fair.
The comment about there being no pubs isn’t quite accurate, although there aren’t loads near the ground admittedly. Also feel your comments on the pre-match experience are actually impacted by your own perception of City as a club. The areas you describe are directly behind the Family Stand and are designed to give young children something to do before the game since parents felt old fashioned football concourses were a bit of a bore.
Also, the Champions League games are much much worse for tourists. A lot of the older season ticket holders don’t get tickets for night cup games so they get snapped up by lots of Chinese fans usually. You should come up for one of them if you get chance just for the experience. Could be an interesting video.
Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you stay up.

You saw it the other week as well we are on our best run in years but haven’t won a trophy for 40 years and you saw against you 62500 fans that is credible imo if anything is and we’ll do that every prem game this season watch us the only thing that won’t sell out is hospitality but that’s because it’s a rip off. Hi lads hope you're well.
As a City supporter for 38yrs it was very interesting hearing about your experience at the Etihad 😀.
It's been said before about the lack of pub's in the area for away supporters. When City moved from Maine Road to the Etihad the local council & police wanted to keep away supporters in the City centre for as long as possible before the game & always escort them to the ground.
For some reason they just haven't changed their way of thinking over the years which is a shame.
When it comes to the atmosphere & things to do outside the stadium before the game it is set up in a really family friendly way.
City, as a whole, really prides itself as a very family friendly club for both home & away supporters but yes, I do agree that there could be a couple more bars outside the ground at the away end where away supporters can buy alcohol before the game.
City Supporters have been accused of not being behind the team, not singing, not filling the ground etc etc for a hell of a long time. But we are very passionate supporters & the atmosphere inside the ground is always magnificent in my opinion.
I've never been to the Vitality Stadium before so I can't compare it to the Etihad but if I get the chance I hope I'll have a good experience like you did at our ground 😀
The Bournemouth supporters who I meet were really great & (although you had to travel so far, & in that heat) were really friendly which was great to see 😀.
I have to travel across from the east coast every other week & I'm not always in the best of moods when I finally get to my seat in the ground 🤣.
Anyway. Sorry about the long comment 😆.
I look forward to seeing how my beloved Etihad stands up against the other grounds you visit 😀.
Thanks for sharing your experience & good luck for the season 👍
P.S, Thanks for not wearing red & I've got rid of that red subscribe button 🤣

Quite a fair rating. Unfortunately with how city are going, we have a lot of stuff geared to youngsters & the fan experience. Most of us normal fans ignore it all, but I think city are ahead of most clubs with this kind of stuff. There's a dj inside the stadium as well, pretty shite for us old skoolers but day trippers and kids love it so 🤷‍♂️

I'm a City fan, really enjoyed your away day vlog to the Etihad.
For pubs you need to do your research before turning up as the pubs are close but not immediately visable.
Etihad been open since 2003 and many of the pubs local to the stadium on the walk from Manchester have closed, I can think of 5. We do have 4/5 pubs closer to the ground, Mary D''s is a 3min walk from the away end and can accomodate about 400/500 fans, great atmosphere, disco bar a vault and an external area. We have City Square which is outside the club shop on the other side of the stadium from the away fans, it's not big fod drinking as it's a bit more family orientated.

Appreciate your feedback here! We went to City Square, which was fun, however you couldn't get a drink here (not that it's all about the pre-match beers!). The fact that the concourse is also good and you can drink and sing with your fans must be a bonus for lack of pubs near ground. Some away concourses you can’t even do that. • @mmoodenz

City fan here, from Switzerland nonetheless. Love the concept you came up with and all in all I think a very fair review. As many have pointed out, I think pre match experience would turn as the most „controversial“ topic. Me being a „tourist“, I don‘t really vibe with all funfair stuff that is being provided. In this day and age of commercialization of football, and Manchester City (let‘s not deny it), the club takes decisions based on business. Certainly exciting for the younger generation and people who‘ve been drawn to football more recently (perhaps), whereas the adults or just hardcore football fans feel a bit awkward toward all this stuff.
If I‘m allowed, since you‘ve already have this great list of talking points, I‘d suggest putting chapters of those in your videos. Me personally, I‘ve watched the whole thing, but I‘m not sure everyone is going to sit through a 30-odd minute video. Maybe you can work towards better viewer retention like that :)
All the best for the season and I’m looking forward to our away game at Dean Court!

City season ticket holder here. More than fair review.
As a regular away day goer myself, I understand the frustration of not being able to find a decent away pub nearby. There's not a lot of pubs in the area anymore in general home or away, but there's a few that will allow away fans. Just have to know where they are.
most away fans tend to drink in the city centre, it's only a 20-30 minute straightforward walk to the ground or 10 minutes on the tram/bus from there.
City Square is based outside the family stand. It's essentially a kids zone. Good series this and refreshing to see you look at it as objectively as possible without the usual Internet misconceptions.

Brilliant idea and execution chaps - congratulations! As a city fan I agree with a lot of your thoughts. The biggest gripe I have is the location of the stadium being east of the city is a pain to get to. The tram and buses work for local fans but for those a bit further out and obviously away fans like yourselves it’s a pain to get to. Interesting as city have a few hundred couple of thousand fans that don’t turn up for the lower profile games due to this reason. Didn’t realise there were no local’ish pubs for away fans - can see that’s a pain. Cheers and good luck for the season Bournemouth.

Great objective comments there lads. Regarding a pre match beer, plenty of bars around piccadilly Station, which isn't far from the ground. You have to bear in mind that 20 years ago eastlands was brownfield and underdeveloped, and regeneration takes time. Its a long term project, and it's looking good so far I'm sure you'd agree. Great review lads. The City pregame experience, as a ST holder, isn't for me either. I think you should consider the game when it comes to the atmosphere in future, perhaps only as a reference because if a game is close (which is wasn't) then there's going to be more tension and atmosphere. In terms of the fans and the tourists, at least with the ST holders who I'm with near the away fans, it's all the same people year in year out, the ST holders at least are all Manchester. Shame about no away pubs, that's not on if you ask me. Surprised it took you to 65 minutes to sing 'where were you when you were shit'. We're used to that in the first ten minutes haha.

I mean, take bolton wanderers for instance, there in league 1 and their ground is half empty, 1 day they will be back in the premier league, and sing to city where were you when youbwere shit. No issues at all with away fans ( well, obvious exceptions maybe). Have a look and try it next year perhaps. 👍🏻

This was fantastic to watch, next time go to The Victoria pub on Croft St, north of the ground. The landlord Jason is great and no reason away fans won't be welcomed. I agree with you about the matchday experience especially outside before the game. We do now get lots of tourists but we also have over 35000 season ticket holders. Our core support is nothing like 55000 thousand so the club has to try and attract families.

Wearing colours pubs near the ground isn’t going to work. Loads of pubs you can go into in town. Piccadilly Tavern being the usual one for away fans as it’s the right side of town to get to the Etihad. Shambles Square pubs the ones used by the European teams for a bit more day time drinking before an evening game. If you’re into your beer there are a load of amazing Craft Beer pubs, bars, tap houses and breweries. I always like to see pubs/bars in the city or town as part of my away days. Anyway good video and enjoyed watching it.

Well done Sam and Tom, very honest. 🙂👍
    City fans are humble.
Thing is I think there's a DNA difference. City is much more family orientated, lots more women and children and less toxic than some others. Back in the day when City were in the third tier, their crowds actually increased.
It's a usual charge against City that it is quiet. Probably reflecting the more families.
It's an area in transition. It was largely an industrial wasteland, so lots of pubs got bulldozed in the area''s decline. It was a coal-mine.
Am a tee-totaller so beer not required but ironically you were underneath a specially built pub "The Ardwick" you may have seen signs to it? It is in the angle of the South Stand and the East Stand, a couple of levels up. Check it on the internet. A traditional pub. City were formed as Gorton Sr.. Mark's with red and black stripes like A.F.C. Bournemouth, the "Ardwick" kit, which reappears as an away kit.
Glad you liked the CFA Stadium. There's a third stadium on the other side of the main stadium which was used as a warm-up track for the Commonwealth Games and has been retained for athletics and track and field and sometimes used for football I think.
As Glyn mentioned there is a fourth stadium near the North Stand,, an indoor arena, the largest in Europe at 23,500 being built by Oak View an American company who jointly own it with City's owners and Harry Styles. Largely for pop music. The club have announced they plan to extend the North Stand so the concourse will be bigger.
Because City's clientele is rather different, maybe some of the other arenas may be should be used to increase the match-day experience, depending on the weather, of bar-b-queues etc.
Best pubs in the city-centre are around the Cathedral in the Medieval Quarter, for alternatives there's the Northern Quarter.
Glad you liked the safe-standing. City are innovative and am sure would appreciate feedback.
Sorry about yesterday's result. I hope you will be fine. 🙂👏

As a hard core city fan myself I find city play really well with a decent atmosphere. Liverpool and United fans make jokes about city having plastic fans and the atmosphere being dead in the stadium but there’s no substance to this, I used to be a season ticket holder relatively close to the away stand and I always remember the atmosphere being amazing no matter who we played. I feel like we were done dirty with covid because we had to play behind closed doors and that’s why we didn’t quite win the premier league whereas Liverpool are used to playing with a fairly quiet stadium during the game anyway.

Matches against Liverpool or United etc or when things get a little rowdy they’ll have a line of stewards or police stand between the two sets of fans. I’m a season ticket holder, that atmosphere is pretty much how it is every match. Obviously more intense with rivals. But apart from the lengthy Bernardo song it was actually quite muted for a normal City match.
