Agreed Zander, I've been a ManCity supporter since 2010. As an American, you grow up playing basketball and baseball, I didn't touch a football (soccerball) growing up. Yes, I called it football, that's what the rest of the world calls it, and so do I, LOL. But when I watched my first match against Liverpool and I fell in love with Yaya Toure and it was a wrap. Been a massive fan ever since. Thanks, StuntPegg for this video.

I find it peculiar that the interviewee mentions Guardiola coming to the club as the turnaround point. I feel like the more important part is Abu Dhabi coming in and spending exorbitant amounts of money. I don't think Pep would have considered City without that money, tbh.
100%, City fans can be delusional. It was the money, Pep ain't going to Burnley.
Abu Dhabi came in 2008. From 2008-2016 we won 2 titles in 8 years. Since pep in 2016 we have won 5 in 7 years. Guardiola has 100% been the turning point to this era of dominance.

I think it's ok to invade the pitch. It's a way for the fans to say "We're not just numbers that make a revenue graph go up. We're here, this victory is also ours".
I think it's the damage that can be caused by so many people on the field that clubs don't want fans on the pitch. That is just a theory.
Being a loyal City fan since 1988 i can assure people we never take anything for granted and are just enjoying the ride😊
I saw this fan spirit in the Cheeseman videos. I cringe every time casuals who are probably in their early 20s and never been to Manchester or England talking nonsense about "history" or "pedigree", as if they had something to do with it. Very happy for the long-time fans.

Not a single bad word that Manchester City is just a face of sportwashing for Abu Dhabi. Crazy how brainwashed English football fans have become. LaLiga not having that possibility isn't a bad thing, Germany having 50+1 isn't a bad thing, it's what English fans should wish for. Do you really want your league tainted by Saudi Arabia, Russia and UAE - more than it already is.
Yes.
I’ve had countless conversations with people online, RUclips, tv, about these things. I don’t think it’s fair that every single time, us fans at the bottom have to be geo-political. Why can’t we occasionally just chat about football?
Pitch invasions have a place when it’s a crazy comeback or unexpected win to win the league, not a game where the outcome didn’t matter and you already won the league

They're a money making machine because the money they invested into the club paid off with trophies and making it far into competitions, which pays off itself. Just this season they'll earn over 200M from the PL and Champions League, then y'all people who don't bother to do the math act shocked on how can they afford players. Stop sounding pathetic and childish, f&cking grow up already.
The premier league is as much of a farmer’s league as all the other top leagues. There’s one or two teams who are financially dominant and then the rest of the league is fair play. People call Ligue 1 a farmer’s league but in spite of PSG’s overwhelming resources both Lille and Monaco have won the league in the last decade. Just because Arsenal came close this year does not make the Prem any less farmery than all the other big leagues.
And it's only going to get worse with Newcastle Saudi-owned and United probably going to be Qatari-owned.
Edit: Let's also not forget about Chelski....
The Premier lea. is the richest & strongest lea. in europe. England has the most clubs ever to win European cup. 5 exactly more than any other countries.

I wouldn't say that pitch inasions are related to success. In the dark years we invaded the pitch on the last game regardless of how the season went. It was expected and tolerated, if not welcomed.
Same for us at QPR, last home game of the season, pitch invasion. Now it’s illegal apparently 🙄 But I do agree, they should get off after 5 minutes.
Technically it was illegal then too but they enforce it a lot more harshly now.@@davidlummis1961

Gotta love English fans trying to finesse their way around 'It's not a farmer's league' when they've been bashing other leagues for having the same champions with ease. The PL is definitely the strongest league in the world (mainly because teams below 4-5 are MUCH, MUCH more competitive than in the other big leagues), but this is no reason to look down on La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A or even Ligue 1.
in terms of entertainment, there are oceans of distance between Pl and the others you mentioned, but in Europe italians this year, and spaniards everytime they play an English team, are better than the PL. So if I want to see something for fun, I watch the PL, but I know everytime a Spanish team plays an English team, the Spanish team will win 9 times out of 10, so despite my love for the PL I cannot call other leagues farm leagues when the supposed english dominance isn't reflected on the pitch in europe
Farmer's league doesn't refer to repeat champions. It refers to the suggestion that one or a few teams are dominant bc teams in the middle and bottom third of the table are made up of "farmers" who have second jobs aside from football, and thus can never compete. There is more parity in the premier league than the other top leagues. Serie A with Juventus no longer the prohibitive favorite, is the next best I'd say.
@@dipthongthathongthongthong9691 I know that, but its an euphemism to call them lesser leagues, and they arent, even in the aspect you mentioned, because in England the league is turning into a one team affair as well

The Premier League has become and still is the most prestigious league in the world mainly because there is consistently better funding down the pyramid than other European leagues, so all teams compete when they get to the PL, plus the English game is also quicker and stronger, which gives it a unique attraction worldwide, but if state ownership starts to creep in and exorbitant money starts to be spent by two or three clubs, then that could easily take the gloss off and in a few years you're may be looking at a meh, so-so league, just like any other. It'll be up to the FA and the PL to work that out.

I would still consider that a one club league. Doesn't matter who's doing it, one club is still dominating the league.
@@StoutProper City did it by breaking all the rules, it's worth considering. I get your point but half of that team shouldn't be there with all the financial fuckery they've been doing. Haaland cost way more than was stated in the media and that money didn't come from selling tickets.
It's more okay when United dominated, rival fans weren't happy as always, but it wasn't as much of a scandal. They were legitimately just a better club with better players and a better manager etc. United had to contend with the Invincibles and Mourinho's Chelsea as well as City, people forget that. It's not like United won the league every season by 30 points and never lost a game like Sheriff Tiraspol do, they had tough opposition that held them off a number of times.
Liverpool have done it once with the best team they've ever had, with a tiny margin of points, but otherwise no team can cope with City's infinite spending, dodgy deals and infrastructure. City have 3 different starting XIs that could win the league, have signed players using financial fuckery and it's just a given that they'll win the league. How can any team compete? Teams did compete with United back in the day, Arsenal and Chelsea did. Who, next season, can possibly outdo City? And how, without just spending a trillion buying the FifPro World XI. City are like Celtic at this point, yeah this will come to an end and they'll slip up once or twice and cause an upset, but it doesn't mean it isn't boring and predictable. I'm going to bet money City win it next year.
Lovely film. Saying the Prem is a one club league is taking credit away from City for what they've done. We've been pushed to the limit by Liverpool more than once and Arsenal too. As Pep often says, it's these teams that help to raise our game.
6:07 When Alex Ferguson (he never dominated as hard as city has done for the record) was around, the PL was absolutely not "the greatest league in the world", no. Serie A had that title during the 90s and 00s, followed then by La Liga.
The PL today IS absolutely a one club league. 6 years, and 5 league titles. What else do you call it?
6:33 The same goes for Bundesliga. Bayern has won 10 straight league titles, which may or may not change this season. If you take them out, it's competitive and tough. That does not make a difference, it is still a farmer's league. Just like the PL.

Several things to point out here:
1. As a non-supporter, you were still able to get a ticket for the game they were crowned as champions. How???
2. And notwithstanding the above, City could still attract crowds of 30,000+ when they were playing in the third division just 23 years ago. Why can't they fill the Etihad now that they are the most successful club in England?
3. Great content.... again!
1. Probably just bought a ticket? I'm not from England but I am pretty sure anyone can buy a ticket to get to the stadium... But in Indonesia sometimes entering the stadium is free from what I heard.

Definitely not a one club league. That's why we love it.
The Prem is by no means a Farmers League, but neither are many of the leagues that get lumped into that category. Teams have periods of dominance, it happens, and it's possibly going to happen more often because of the very capitalist nature of the way most leagues are structured. The place you'd think it would be least likely is Germany because of the way the Bundesliga is structured, yet it still happens. I certainly don't think the Spanish & German leagues are "farmers" leagues as they've been part of what I would consider "the Big Three" European leagues of the past decade or two. The Italian Serie A seemed to go through a quiet period after financial collapse, but is now bouncing back. The one that has really not seemed competitive is Ligue 1, yet even there Lille won recently, and they've actually had the largest number of different champions (8) across Europe's Top Five leagues since the turn of the millennium.

Yes, the league as a whole is far more competitive than pretty much any other major league on the planet (although that speaks more to how dull the other leagues are), but it's hard to deny that the Premiership has been completely dominated by City.
Why say 5 out of seven when it's five out of six aha? Weird to count the one before the five as well
5 of 6, really. But the trophy count is only a tiny part of the story. Only one of those five titles was won in any way that could be considered dominant, and that was 2018, when we bagged 100 points (and only just at that). In 2019 and 2022, Liverpool ran us extremely close, 2023 we had to come from 8 points behind to overhaul Arsenal and in 2021 we didn't hit the top of the table until March. Not exactly dominant.

If it was "farmer's", you simply wouldn't be attracting the range of elite proven managers (Pep, Klopp, Emery) to that next tier of elite up-and-comers like Arteta, tenHag, DiZerbi and Thomas Frank. They want to compete against each other to test themselves.
Very true. I think a big part of that is down to the overwhelming amounts of money across the entire league. Lots of the guests made great points.
@@stuntpeggnieve The money is a major factor for sure. But most of these men are "middle aged" or close to and I suspect they are fairly well off financially. But they can't find elsewhere the weekly battle of wits that exists in the epl. And now Pochettino is back, along with Kompany in a managerial role. Just need Tuchel and Ancelotti back.
Thanks as always for the first class perspectives and insights.
Ten Hag? You mean Seven Hag 😂🤣😂🤣
yet when those managers and calibre alike was in Spain, you guys called it a farmers league...very interesting
@@garthmanuel5701 You don't seem to know the definition of a "farmer's league." It has little if anything to do with the quality of managers.
Football being my most support and favorite sport, i definitely need to come to Europe to experience it! Greet from Taiwan
3:13 “I love the Smiths”
A one club league, perhaps not quite yet but its beginning to feel like City are the English equivalent of Bayern Munich isnt it? Ive been a City fan since the mid 90s and nothing, not even winning the Chamions League will ever rival the joy of beating Gillingham to climb back to the Championship (or Div One as it was). Since the first Premiership win under Mancini its become less and less rewarding and despite having players like DeBruyne and Harland i now find watching Brighton and Fulham more exiting to follow. If only English clubs were owned by the fans like the German model of ownership
Every area of Manchester that i've ever lived in has seen more City fans actually going to the game than United fans ... City fans have never been anything but resilient and loyal.

most corrupt club in britain. should be docked 1 point for every charge against them.

Has she become more blue than Bolton ?
It goes in waves.
Utd dominated the early stages of the Premier League, winning 8 out of 12 I believe? It'll eventually change when Pep has had enough and goes....
When the money goes. They won the league before Pep
Love the Intros of The Smiths songs especially days after Andy Roukes death x
Not a City Fan. But im not bitter that City is having this success. I resent the uncontrolled amount of money and takeover that its happening. The league is supposed to help local players rise their game and local managers too. English football is the one who will suffer for this.
That’s a very good point, David. I can’t help but agree
@@stuntpeggnieve Sponsors and Inverstors are the one benefitting from all this uncontrolled wealth, but are the grassroots benefitting from it aswell? I don't know.
