My teacher at school was the same way, he used to mock racing and despised me talking about my real life racing experiences and my iRacing experiences. One day he came in and told me how much he respected racecar drivers and all they do because he went to the hall of fame in Dawsonville. Not all haters stay hating.
I don’t know if this is just for the legacy version of daytona but personally i get slightly faster laps when i go about half a lane up on the straights
NASCAR, how hard could it be... 😅 EDIT: Thanks for all the tips guys! It was so much fun driving these cars I want to do some more soon and try everything you all mentioned!
If you get to C class you can do the entire nascar schedule, dirt, road, short track, superspeedway, and speedway. You get the full nascar experience and there’s cautions and pit strategy since most races are half the full length race. I’ve won 4 of them and I think you could win some also
@@dudewithacamera_ That's just Bristol dirt and it depends on iRating. If you try like a 1.5 like Kansas or Texas the racing might be a bit more enjoyable, it's all a variety of things that will get you good racing, now I'm not saying an SOF of 3k won't wreck at Talladega this weekend, but iRating plays a factor. But I don't blame you wanting to stay away if that was your first NIS race. Sometimes even in bottomsplit they have long green flag runs like at Martinsville we got a 50 lap green flag run until the next caution.
When running qualifying at Daytona, run your first flying lap (and out lap) in the middle, to give yourself a run coming off the banking, then on the last lap, hug the double yellow, and make the track as short as possible. Also, make sure you don’t run next to the wall in qualifying, as the air coming off your car will bounce off the wall, then hit your car again, slowing you down
Tips to not cause wrecks and race properly 1: Don't push it three wide every chance you get because that will put everyone in a bad position and cause a wreck or get someone mad at you. 2: Never ever look at chat or takes you eyes off the screen because doing that could literally ruin everything and also cause a big one. It's basically texting and driving except at 170+ 3:Don't wait till last minute to slow down and also don't pass someone when entering pit road, be patient because if you don't then it could end badly or end with a black flag. 4: If you dont know if your clear, don't chance it, wait until you can see the front splitter to jump down like that (unless you have a spotter and then he will tell you). 5: When you are in a draft, try to stay there as long as possible so you can push to the front, unless you know 100% someone will go with you or you can pass the person. A quick summary for this is mainly be patient and don't try to pass unless you know it would be a better move then staying behind someone.
In NASCAR they used to have a rule where you are allowed to pass before the line as long as its on the right. However NASCAR has since changed this to where you cant switch lanes before the start finish line, but iRacing has not adopted this rule into the sim yet so it is completely legal for you to do that.
First: No, you are not allowed to move out of line and advance your position before you pass the start/finish line. Once you pass the line, however, you can pass as much as you want. That rule stands for every track in NASCAR, not just Daytona. Second, at 3:35, that was a bad move. You should have given the car ahead of you a push. Stay two wide. Staying in the line will help your line advance, as you had mentioned that the outside was really moving good, and it keeps you out of a three wide situation. Getting three wide gives you less wiggle room if a crash were to happen. Notice in real life, most of the biggest crashes happen when they are three wide as nobody has anywhere to go except straight. Straight into The Big One. Third, at 7:02, same situation. Don't go and try to pass, let alone without a partner. That crash was 100% avoidable if you had stuck on his bumper. You and him could've worked together up to the lead. Lastly, at 8:12, same thing as the last point. Stick. To. His. Bumper. I cannot stress this enough. You want to stay in line and get that line organized. Once your line gets organized, it will be so much faster and everyone will try to get into it. Daytona is one of the most unpredictable race tracks in the world. If you can get into a single file line, you have an easier time avoiding situations as a whole pack qnd you can stay there until the end with a few laps to go when you can go step out of line. With 1 or 2 laps to go, if you step out of line, someone will go with you and you can push to the lead. Same technique used in multiple Daytona 500s that has gotten drivers to victory. Overall, superspeedway racing is a crazy difficult type if racing that is unlike anything else. Hopefully you see this qnd can learn from this and possibly watch some real Daytona racing and notice the drivers' techniques. Good luck racing Nick. Edit: And you have a 5th gear. USE IT.
Nick has much to learn if he's going to do more NASCAR in iRacing. 1: These cars have 5 gears now, so you might want to take advantage of that. 2: Technically, you're supposed to hold your line until you cross the start-finish line, then make your moves. It doesn't seem like iRacing has that rule, though, otherwise you would've been black flagged. 3: For qualifying at Daytona and Talladega, go straight to the wall (you don't have to stay on the apron) and hug it on your out lap. This makes the track longer and gives you more time to build your speed. Then, as you cross the line to start your timed lap, cut down to the double yellow line and stay there all the way around, making the track as short as possible.
I actually got my first (and only) iracing win on my first attempt with the gen 6 cars at daytona in the rookie series. There was a big crash on the 2nd lap that I managed to get through with minor damage and I won by 32 seconds also that was my first race after buying the new version of Daytona Edit: also this doesn't have to do with iracing but I just want to put it out: I did the NASCAR Racing Experience at daytona last year and it was AWESOME
Just a btw… these cars a 5 speed now😂 also, patience is key in pack racing, making moves to the inside and outside when you get a big run will only cause wrecks!
Nick I noticed you were in 4th for a lot of the 2ed race just a friendly FYI the new next gens have 5 gears and you don't have to activate your clutch to change gears unless your going in or out on neutral
Ok. The next gen NASCAR would be fine if they: Fixed the wheels by giving them an interliner, made them steel and not aluminum, more than 1 lugnut, smaller wheels Fixed the axles by making them metal and not McDonalds happy meal toy plastic 4 speed transmission (H pattern), 5 gears makes no sense No more rack and pinion steering, way too dangerous And PUT THE NUMBERS WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. They have been in the middle of the door for 70 years. Now throwbacks cannot look good. There you go. How to fix the current NASCAR. Also, thank you Honda for not entering.
I enjoyed iRacing, especially oval stuff, but it's just so damned expensive. I'll stick to Nascar Racing 2003 Season (The game iRacing was originally built on)
Don’t leave the yellow line in qualifying. It’s faster here. And don’t go 3 wide early in the race. Ppl will get mad and you’ll wreck more than it works. Save the move for later
Yes superspeedway racing you wanna make friends, because they'll leave you room or shove you to the lead and then try and beat you and have an awesome photo finish. That's the approach that worked for me in B Open at Talladega and helped me break the 2 year Talladega Official win winless drought
Nick does illegal starts like David Reagan and passes like Brad K. Because of the restrictor plates the draft at Daytona and and Dega is the way to pass. Even in real life telemetry shows guys that are in the draft are running 1/2 to 3/4 throttle while the leaders run flat out. All I know it this looked like the old EA NASCAR days with guy spinning out for no reasons.
Nick before: "NASCAR sucks, it's just turning left, anyone can do it"
Nick now: "NASCAR is so hard and fun, i LOVE it" 😂😂

Whenever I think about the before part, I’m always like “but can you survive a usual NH lobby?”
Fun Fact: At tracks like this and talladega, for qualifying you only need to stick on the bottom of the track
That's only for your fast lap. You ride up high on your out and 1st qualifying laps to gain speed.
I don’t know if this is just for the legacy version of daytona but personally i get slightly faster laps when i go about half a lane up on the straights
