I believe the AR2 in MMOD and Redux is outdated after Half Life: Alyx, since we saw how the SMG in HL:A works. Both the AR2 and the SMG uses ammunition called Powercells (or call it pulse ammo). They do not act like individual bullets but like magazines (it reminds me of fallout), each having 30 rounds in them.
But how can you have 2 cells as reserve when you have box that cab hold a hundred of them, not only that, but some Resistance NPC's reload by just removing the whole thing and replace it with a new one HHMMMMM!??!
I like how the SMG was modded to make the grenade launcher some what realistic with the pump action but when it came to the shotgun and it shooting two shells at once there's was no attempt at all.
They could easily "fix" it by making it shoot really quick two round burst. Still dumb but makes more sense than the double barrel Spas 12 because no one has the gut to tell Valve that the magazine tube is not a secondary barrel
And let's not forget about pumping it again at the end of the reload animation WASTING a shell. But in the end it's a no issue thing. Just a game and the amount of work and love all these modders put towards these is great. Love the Source modding community.
One of the things I noticed when replaying Half-Life 2 again was how well the weapon animations hold up. Just about all of the animations in Half-Life 2 flow great. The guns aren't flying all over the screen as your hand shake violently being possessed by the tension, but they're elegant and weighty.

You don't need to eject used plugs... or do those mags eject used plugs like Half-Life: Alyx? Redux: Again, these are basically energy bullets. The design looks incredible, though. Why is the mag shaped like that if these are so compact of ammunition? Probably to collect the used plugs to be recharged.
Kinda makes no sense for the pulse rifle in the mmod. Combine having far more advanced technology than humanity, it’s more logical for combine to pack an entire magazine into the single pulse rifle capsule, rather than 1-1 shooting an ejecting just like real firearms. Lore from HL: Alyx confirms it
I don't like how MMod and Redux reload their AR2. They just scrap the entire mag instead of the dark energy core doodads just getting replaced. Gotta make that third-person reload animation make sense! (despite the fact Valve reuses the scrapped assets from another gun...)
As to Pulse rifle: OG used one plug per 30 shots, but question appears why you can carry so little ammo, and why when you take ammo from crate you take couple boxes of it. MMod changed that so each plug is one shot and you need to replace whole structure. It's even more apparent in idle animations in MMod.
Out of all of MMOD was the best as it sticks to the original vision and art the most, did a recent run with it and loved it a lot, especially appreciate the customization it offers where you can turn on or off a lot of additions and changes to make it as vanila friendly possible or a bit/a lot more different. Probably might use the mod again for another future 500th playthrough of HL2 down the line as i just love the new animation, sounds and feel of the guns with it, feels still like HL2 but just newer and nicer.

0:28 I like this mod
Okay MMod is perfect and amazing but what’s the deal with the pulse rifle reload. I also really appreciate the redux crossbow bolt.
As to Pulse rifle: OG used one plug per 30 shots, but question appears why you can carry so little ammo, and why when you take ammo from crate you take couple boxes of it.
MMod changed that so each plug is one shot and you need to replace whole structure.
It's even more apparent in idle animations in MMod.
why are people talkin trash bout Tactical? it seems fine. this has effort
Mmod is like a goddess amongst other mods
Out of all of MMOD was the best as it sticks to the original vision and art the most, did a recent run with it and loved it a lot, especially appreciate the customization it offers where you can turn on or off a lot of additions and changes to make it as vanila friendly possible or a bit/a lot more different. Probably might use the mod again for another future 500th playthrough of HL2 down the line as i just love the new animation, sounds and feel of the guns with it, feels still like HL2 but just newer and nicer.
The only thing I've notices while scrolling down the comment section is how most People really disliked the reloading of the AR2, more specifically the Batteries of the AR2, that these Mods have altered.
i never played half life and im watching this lol, great video btw
Nib you missed a lot

@@stop8576 HL2 and it's Episodes are free to play right now on Steam for another week until Half-Life Alyx releases, now's a tgreat opportunity if you're interested in the series.
@@Tin_Can 1. my pc is poo poo

@@stop8576 my PC is also poo poo and it runs pretty well
Pound for pound MMod is my favorite. Redux has some really nice and sleek guns but MMod brings much more to the table without changing much imo
Pulse rifle in mods: have bullet shells))
Vanilla: no shit, it's the normal game
Tactical: An okay animation overhaul and adds some nice guns, it's old so you can't complain too much
MMOD: A great animation overhaul with improved effects and gameplay
Redux: in many ways, its like MMOD, just with some custom viewmodels.
Redux: Hey can i copy your homework
Mmod: sure but make it not look obvious
Just so you know
Redux is an additional reskin made specifically *_for_* MMod.
Redux crowbar makes ricochet sound? Okay...
Why tf did the crowbar echo like that swinging and hitting nothing but air? xD More like Tactical trash. Nice vid tho. I think MMOD and Vanilla overall took the cake.
Mmod did that to
I see alot of fights breaking out between mmod and redux, but I'm glad to see one thing is agreed upon: We can all shit on tactical
The vanilla crossbow cocks by itself so why Is It manual on the other ones?
It's manual because it makes sense. You can't really see any auto-cocking mechanism anywhere on crossbow model.
Or maybe it cocks thanks to Gordon pushing it back with the bolt.
@@Casto3924 in the original gordon just slaps the bolt onto the crossbow
Gordon Freeman I'd just the doom Slayer of half life
The tactical explosions are the best. MMod has better guns and sounds tho.
Goldfish_Vender wtf are u talking about my man?
@@risk_limao Idk what kind of explosions you've seen, but the ones from mmod are not realistic, they are just for show.
the thing for me about animation is how much they change the *feel* of that weapon, a pistol from HL2 just feels more kicky and sturdy with a more serious or as shown, tactical animation than with it's original animations, and same can be said to other weapons
the pulse rifle doesn't works like that...
MMOD pretty much takes the cake for the best feeling and looking....
_see's tactical_
*look at how they massacred my boy*
That mod was literally made in 2006, cut it some slack.
All The Mods sound really good but nothing beats the original sound for me. Such a great game.
The sound for the tactical shotgun seems a bit delayed
the sound for the vanilla hl2 shotgun is too fast
The textures in every four of them looks pretty good🙂
you didn't see the gravity gun in tactical XD
Why does the tactical use the quake 4 pistol sound
mmmm that redux grenade looks soo good.
15:00 Wtf?
A mix between Mmod and Redux would be great (the smg, grenades and RPG from Mmod and the rest from redux)
Redux is a addon for mmod
MMod looks better for me
thats cool and all, but Gordon still doesn't use the crossbow's scope when he ADS
Honestly I would never install any of these, vanilla is perfectly fine
Both mmod and redux Gordon are holding the grenade completely wrong!! Who the hell made such a stupid mistake modeling the grenade?
Tactical was trynna be too extra and sounded bad too. Like a college kid having a whole camo setup. Lmao
MMod is soooo neat
I don't really like MMod pulse rifle. I always thought the small thing is an entire clip and finding the big thing as ammo clips is dev oversight.
This Battery is supposed to hold 30 shots, as it is seen in both Half Life 2 and Half Life: Alyx.
But Modders did not seem to like that at all, apparently.
I actually like Tactical. Try not to get mad.
Die
Jk
Ok
Wow! Something nobody asked for! Look at me i'm so original and cool!
