    Glad to see my old pride and joy is still going strong and so well looked after so many years later. Looks like she’s good for another 14 years…

      @@TheOverlandLegend I'd have taken it with me if it wasn't for all the emission regs and DPF requirements that made it well nigh impossible. I did get a D4 on the other side of course!

    Love your Disco 3, it looks great after 15 years, bit jealous about lack of winter salt & corrosion where you live.
    I think being aware of unusual noises and things that don’t work quite the way they should and being prepared when unexpected things go wrong is a good thing is something we all should do, not just Land Rover Owners!
    I would buy a car from a guy who was a bit of a perfectionist “worrier” every time over someone who just ignores every noise or warning and you end up buying their basket case, been there, not again.
    LR Time is a great resource, very capable and resourceful and independent, I like that plus surprisingly humorous for Germans.

      Thanks for the comments, appreciate it. That’s a good point I am very lucky with the climate here, it makes maintenance so much easier. Also it’s great that there is so much info on these vehicles on the internet now @Vera_and_Christian is one of the best

    Great balanced content. I took an 305k 2005 2.7tdv6 Hse as an trade in, drove it 15 minutes and was sold out, the space and comfort are next level. Also fitted 18” BF Goodrich KO2’s and other add-ons to follow. If you are handy, I personally found this LR not so difficult to maintain. There’s lots of good advisory content out there and a variety of parts that are surprisingly quite affordable. Never thought I will but now I had also become a fan!

      Thanks for your comments and I totally agree, as with most Landies if you are handy and prepared to get involved then they can offer great value.

    Love and hate relationship indeed. LR3 is an amazing ride. I have had mine since 2019. Zero mechanical issues to date. Only experienced sunroof water leak and power steering leak due to worn out membrane. Nothing major but cost of ownership is high.

    Love my LR3. The look, size, performance, V8, etc makes me so happy to sit in it every time. It’s a treat to take it out every time. My Toyota friends laugh at me but they spent 3x the price.

    Thanks for showing this great video. We own an LR3 4.0 V6 that we bought new in Muscat, Oman in 2008. We love it and brought it back to Scotland a few years ago.
    I totally relate to everything you said about the vehicle, I also have that love/hate relationship with it but can’t imagine being without it!
    Looking forward to some more videos on your Discovery 3.

    The value proposition on these is insane. You get so much bang for your buck, there really aren't any vehicles that can compete. With that being said though, it seems you need to be handy with a tool set, and have plenty of time on your hands. Not ideal for a person working the 9-5 corporate job, who actually needs his weekends to rest and catch up on admin, rather than spending the entire weekend under the car. But ja, these vehicles are so tempting, and so so charming!

    • @TheOverlandLegend
      @TheOverlandLegend  2 года назад

      Well said and very true. Considering the low purchase cost it is also possible to find a reputable independent workshop to maintain it as long as you have budget. Still way less than anything new

      It is a great colour isn’t it. Called Atacama Sand, it’s kind of gold with a hint of green. I was lucky to get it because buying second hand you don’t have a choice

    Thanks for you video. I have a 2005 D3 and I share your thoughts on the love/hate thing. There's so much I enjoy with mine, but the maintenance costs are fairly high. Mine is now over 400,000km on the odo and I've put around 240,000km on it now. I've had a few more issues than yours in that time.

    Not bad going considering the luxury/weight of this Vehicle. Love watching LRtime on a Sunday probably why this channel popped up on my RUclips. Your LR3 still looks good for its age, LR's are so good at looking good for many many years unlike other brands.
    P.s don't own a LR3/4 but admire these vehicles ( maybe one day )

    Great Video. I really thoroughly enjoyed it. Sounds like you have had some amazing times in your vehicle. Very informative and very helpful as a first time LR3 Owner and about to set up a maintained experience schedule so I can do a lot of outback travel in Australia.
    Did you change the EGR valves or have to pull them out for cleaning at all. I noticed you didn’t mention them at all.

    Yes I truly know what you mean, my Discovery 3 always puts a smile on my face every time I drive it 😊 I do sum extreme 4x4 in the mountains totally off road very steep and Narlly Terrain it goes anywhere without getting stuck 😊 im very impressed with it 😊. Much better than my old Toyota Land Cruiser BJ60 Wagon and that had LSD DIFFS!!

      @selebalotsiu7139 Год назад

      You couldnt have said it any better. My LR3 just makes me smile by just looking, driving and offroading. It is a V8 HSE. Quiet engine that always gets "w😮w" on spectators faces when we do offroading. On tarmac slow as it is but I once clocked 190km/h on 1 stretch for just 2 minutes.

      I drop my oil every 5k miles as a matter of course. Oil is cheaper than metal! Timing belt I Did at 70k only £100 as I did it myself. My wife loves to drive it it owes us nothing. Little pricey to run with diesel in U.K. but. Need to pull a big trailer occasionally no better vehicle.
