She underwent genital mutilation as a child in the place where she was supposed to feel safe, grew up in a toxic, sexist environment and was beaten up by her own relatives. What a breach of her confindence that must have been. My hat goes off to her, I wish her a long and especially happy life 💗💯
As Muslims we should respect other ppl and not control their choices like she wants to do that it's her choice. u can't force anyone into believing in something they don't wanna believe in.
@Ibrahim Mohamed No, you don't get to force your opinions on people, mate. You can make your home a Muslim and conservative home, but what people do in their own lives is none of your business.

So why America don't do anything for Egypt Also, one of the reasons for the decline of life in Egypt is the existence of dictatorial authorities, and the reason for the existence of dictatorial regimes is the presence of Israel, which has changed the form of governments to become dictatorial governments that obey Israel’s orders and in turn America supports Israel We are tired of being called out from America The more America wants reform, the more it spoils Therefore, I do not think that America deserves to be respected for its words as long as it uses the method of deception to control the world

The veil is not the issue here it's that women don't get to choose how to live their lives. If a woman wants to wear the veil and you take that from her how's this any different?
Sorry to deceive you, but religion is the first to blame of this situation women in Islamic countries suffer from. @Hassan Ibrahim Because I don't believe in religious cosmologies and religious institutions in general, and the fact that most religious communities are toxic and abusive I feel like it's not worth my time and energy
@Hassan Ibrahim The people who credit their actions to a certain ideology must have been inspired or even directly commanded by that ideology. @Hassan Ibrahim Humans and their shared commonalities, what else? Do you think the UN created the universal human rights chart arbitrarily without any reasoning?
This is refered to as culture. I hate the word culture when it is used as an excuse to legitimize all sorts of bad and archaic behavior. We need to realize that culture is both good and bad. As an Egyptian believer it’s sad to see someone driven away from a religion because of the actions of their family and people around them .. Many religious people tend to mix dumb cultural practices with religion such as genital mutilation for girls “which is illegal in Egypt now thankfully and been for a few decades” Parents should try to make their children love and believe in the religion not force them and threaten them to follow it ! This is a really sickening mentality that I wish the next generation of Egyptians could erase entirely ! Thankfully I was taught true Islam by my grandparents and parents and after that I did my own research and I fully believe in it and try my best to be better everyday .. but I cannot blame her for attaching Islam to the actions of her brother and parents .. but just a small reminder is to do our own research and not blame the religion .. I believe the religion is perfect but unfortunately people aren’t! .. Also gotta love how this is on NYT of course they gonna show the Egyptian society as a backwards thinking bunch for refusing to accept people from different genders living together outside marriage.. remember that not everyone is perfect as I said no matter how close or trusting your friends are u never know what could happen, we’re taught preventative measures is better than diving into the problem heads first .. Not every country gotta adhere to the “western principles or values” it doesn’t have to be backward just because it doesn’t follow your way of life or thinking .. But again I cannot blame her !

So why America don't do anything for Egypt
Also, one of the reasons for the decline of life in Egypt is the existence of dictatorial authorities, and the reason for the existence of dictatorial regimes is the presence of Israel, which has changed the form of governments to become dictatorial governments that obey Israel’s orders and in turn America supports Israel

As an Egyptian believer it’s sad to see someone driven away from a religion because of the actions of their family and people around them ..
Many religious people tend to mix dumb cultural practices with religion such as genital mutilation for girls “which is illegal in Egypt now thankfully and been for a few decades”
Parents should try to make their children love and believe in the religion not force them and threaten them to follow it !

Brave woman! Fight for what you want!!
Beverly Huttinger@ Male Muslim religious psycho who selfishly sees only his side of the story and pretends not to see the other. Or doesn't want to acknowledge. Keep living your miserable life thinking you're on the right path whilst she isn't.
@Beverly Huttinger
Your a man.
Think as, if you are a woman!
Would and could you live happy, with that?????
I do not think so.
You only use 50% of your people,in Egypt.
If you use 100%,your 50% smarter.
YES,THERE ARE LOTS OF VERY SMART WOMANS,WHO WON A NOBEL PRICE.
The islamic world, won a poor 1% of all Nobel price winners.
ITS YOUR RELIGION,WHO KEEPS YOU POOR.
🙄🙄
I'm extremely proud of her
I can understand her struggle but it's all cultural ..I'm muslim and live alone cuz of my job though I hate being away from my family ..my family is extremely religious and they support me and encourage me to be independent since childhood so blame the culture not the religion
this "culture" is because of religion
proof is that before islamism, salafism became proponent in Egypt women where a contributing factor to economy and work but copying saudi culture.
Also you are wrong or just replying in bad faith ur last sentence is extremely contradicting , takes 30 seconds to google fatwa by well known and respected muslim scholars that its unlawful for women to work, especially if it was with a man and without a veil 😆
This "culture " is due to misunderstanding the religion, also you don't know what's this person's job @@YoungKepler
If anyone has the power they should get her out of there.
i am grateful to live in indonesia. have more freedom and open society but still keep our culture and tradition.
If there are ills in Egypt there are also too many good things in Egypt. This is the way in any society.
meanwhile feminists in the uk and us are fighting the true patriarchy /s
Lol patriarchy is everywhere. You men are protected even when you commit crimes against humanity. Don’t look at a more harsh end of the patriarchal system and think that the other aspects of patriarchy cease to exist, they don’t.
I adore how she fights for her beliefs ❤
“This is not real Islam, real Islam is based on free will”
Yeah, under the real Islam she would be killed. Lucky her.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Im an ex muslim
Its dangerous to expres your ideas or lifestyle in closed society like egypt where ruled by crazy military dictaitorship
sadly true, people refuge is the internet or a close knitted group although, arguably better than under muslim brotherhood or any form of islamism rule, will be way worse for all minorities
Asylum for her. We must ensure everyone has the opportunity to live a free and safe life and as females in middle-east and other muslim countries have it worst, we should start from them.
The fact the shes doubt Islam is not a crises, Islam, at least from my perspective allows you to doubt the different interpretations of what one should do as a muslim as interpretations change. As a muslim i was taught that Islam is very flexible, its culture, and people like her brother thats the issue
Islam is definitely not flexible enough to allow people to interpret it as they wish. Ever heard of the word بدعة ?
Islam is flexible? lmfao
EXACTLY!! Being religious to an EXTREME is what caused her to leave Islam and give up. If she had learned Islam the right way, she would have still been muslim right now. The reason she left Islam was her mother. She can still find peace in Islam.
Esra İ hope you are doing well. All the ladies from Middle Eastern countries, never give up. Toxic males are gonna learn how should they act in a respectful manner twords women.
I hope she didn't marry him, She did all the way to escape religion and now she is going to marry a guy with the smae religious mentality.
She's really pretty.
Her friend in the car is so funny😂
I know this is a bit of a jump in severity but anyone interested in how far this often goes should look up documentaries on Qandeel Banoch (?), Amina and Sarah Said, and Banaz... you won't have a hard time finding them with just names alone on RUclips. These young women were murdered for choosing to reject arranged marriages a/o Pakistani and Egyptian Islamic-based cultures. I don't want to insinuate that ALL Muslims or forms of islam are extreme, however. It is a varied religion with many different levels of commitment.
I am a new Egyptian atheist and I would like to have Egyptian atheist friends.

Her brother beats her. Leave him in a room with my dad for a minute.
what a brave girl!!! I hope she will have a normal life as she wants
Nice mother... worries about what will be with her when she is dead and then talking that she does not have good relationship with her daughter like she had with her mother XD
I have hope young people can change Egypt slowly
I think she was raised in a very conservative, religious family because i live here and i honestly never experienced this, none of my friends here either. When i visit the Countryside here tho i hear alot of similar things as she has experienced. I hope she finds peace tho, the youth needs to overcome our toxic society norms.
Also, her brother shouldn't be entitled to tell her what to do or how to act at all! She is an adult.
Which city are you from?
From what I understand it’s normal there, her family is not particularly conservative.
@@jewellui it depends on your socioeconomic class. Cases like hers are more common in poor to lower middle class, whereas like myself and op, if you’re from the middle or upper middle class it’s not really common. The issue is that more than 50% of Egyptians are poor.
@@asurvivor6150 as you said many Egyptians are poor yet OP said he or she has only heard of these things in the countryside. From what I understand this is common in most parts of Egypt not just the countryside so maybe his or her social circle is a little more fortunate that’s why I was asking where.
@@jewellui well you can clearly see in the video that the woman in the video who was being controlled was from an urban area. Her family just seemed very uneducated and they also didn’t seem particularly rich. So, yeah it doesn’t just happen in the countryside but it’s more common there.
I can’t really pinpoint why her brother is abusive and controlling. There are many reasons. For one why did his parents enable him to act like that from a young age? Because his family think this behavior is ok. Why do they think it’s ok? I just don’t know.

Hopefully not with that dude.
She still married to ali
Wait, so did she marry the man in this video or someone else?
She looks, speaks and sounds so much like someone I know that I felt like I know her on a personal level.
I wish she would be a bit afraid, it doesn't mean that you're weak or wrong, it just means that you want to survive.
Nothing good happened to all the people who came out publicly like this, even after escaping the country the mental toll is so great that it can lead to suicide.

I am Muslim and there is nothing in the religion that says hijab is a must
You are halfway there, and there is no religion of ISLAM either, Muslim = submit to God no affiliation with man made traditions and dogma. I Hope you are one of them. Peace
Most Muslims wouldn't agree with you on that.
Yah but ppl make it out to be like that ,that's the problem
