The mistake the game had was releasing on a near unplayable state in a time where industries have much more incentive to abandon the game. People have no intention to provide good news about the game and this is why the game will never recover from its launch.
It won't, the damage was already done by all the refunds they received so I'm surprised that they have even kept up the updates!
it's sad because no matter how much they update it with fixes, unless they did something drastic like add new content the community won't come back. On pc anyway, most of us refunded it because we already had the classic 2005 edition and that has working multiplayer already with mods
100%. I'm only not annoyed that I couldnt refund on PS5 is because I get to share the experience with others through videos to show how much of a good idea it was to refund XD. But yes, BF2 2005 on PC is in a much better state
Latest update added performance issue on Switch. Almost seems like shader compilation. The longer you play the map the better it gets.

As someone who really only plays the single player modes or local split screen I might actually pick it on Xbox if - or when - there’s a sale
That makes sense, because online just isn’t playable at all :/ have you got a pc? If you do I’d recommend saving your money and buying BF2 2005 and mod it with shaders/BF3 legacy that game is so good

I’m sorry I can’t pay 35$ for a game that has no real incentive for me to do so what they should’ve done is completely upgrade the graphics and textures the models everything and that would’ve justified a purchase in my opinion and have the game in good working condition I love starwars a lot and I know it has a lot of potential.

Yeah, rerelease Star Wars games unpolished in a period of record-low interest in Star Wars, what could go wrong? I think it was dead on arrival anyway. People have a lot of nostalgia for the Battlefront games, but the interest in playing the originals now isn't as strong. Battlefront I & II are an option in an ocean of options when Star Wars as an IP is at its lowest. Also, the Steam versions outclass the new release so people will just play those instead if they really want to.
Yes 100% agree with this. They also are so much cheaper than this so it’s just not worth it if you have a pc. Thanks for the comment!
I play on Switch version since update 1 and I almost never have problems, I only remember a pair of random game crashes and a droideka bug on online, but the rest has been pretty stable. In fact I've had smoother online matches on Switch with the BF Collection than with regular BF2 Steam version.
Switch users are lucky! I'm really not sure why or how it's so much better on there than everywhere else, and the lack of concurrent players on PS and Steam show that :(
Solo offline switch player here.. glad the game is loading faster and interestingly enough I did a quick hop onto battlefront one instant action and was playing a map in less than minute... I also noticed that aiming and shooting was more responsive than usual.. I still died because id picked a fight with a droideka but everything felt more responsive like my hp bar and such.
I didn't notice anything about most of this in the notes but figured id say something anyway. STILL LOVE this one for being a fun "Pick up and play" star wars shooter ^_^
Still sad that its a "Dead Game" online.. but eh.. im having fun and thats what matters
It's good that you're enjoying it still! I think you are one of the few left enjoying XD. The switch version is definitely in the best state. I do love those kind of games that you can hop in and out of, only I wish I could use this game as that..
@@hamsannerI got it for a specific purpose.. to play while im off the clock waiting to go home while I have no real stable internet access.. and for my purposes the game is great
@@belmontzar for that reason yes I 100% recommend it! A lot of us were hoping this game would have smooth online etc etc but all other aspects are fine
I really haven’t had many issues on Xbox. The camera going crazy while you’re respawning happened before the path but it’s good now
I still get it so im not sure why! The main issue for me is how bad the hit registration is

@@Austin2tall97 saying "liar" is bold. In the UK the servers are shot and have next to no players in them. There's no proving otherwise
@@hamsannerNorth America from what I’ve heard plays significantly better, it’s obviously not the greatest and is pretty rage inducing but it’s playable I’ve experienced much worse in other franchises. The fact they didn’t do anything for May 4th is disappointing, they are probably going to need to add content to the game to bring players back at this point.

On ps4 there are new bugs aside from the medal rewards, some stairs from yavin iv are invisible, there are no jawas, gamorreans, geonosians..... in conquest, the online problems still remains and yet there are no ia heroes
Unless I’m wrong then I’m assuming those are mods.. but I might be wrong
@@hamsanner the ai heroes were on pc, but the geonosians, jawas, ewoks, etc spawning were in all the platforms, even in the classic collection before the new update but its removed for no reason
Dead Game. I still play the original Star Wars Battlefront II on a regular basis. I have the Ps2 version but it does not work on my fat Ps2 for some reason. It emulates like crap on the PCSX2 emulator so I bought it on Steam. The best part of the PC version is the mods they make for it. Mods is the reason why I think the PC version is the best.
Yes absolutely. I have installed battlefront 3 mod to my BF2 2005 on steam as it brings a whole new game that I cannot wait to play. Think I might make a video or 2 on it!!

As a kid I was actually ranked number 27 at one point because I played it so religiously. It's a damn shame what they did to this game! I was so happy to be able to play multiplayer again the fact that it's not playable is atrocious. When it comes to shooting someone basically have to shoot a second in front of where they will be. You basically have to lead the shot like it's a Nerf gun. Absolutely ridiculous. Working on getting a refund. Probably going to head back to the newer battlefront
That's sick dude! Yeah I'm so sad they messed this up.. BF2 2005 on PC is so much better than this, especially with BF3 Legacy mod too! I've been playing a lot of BF2 2017 and been loving that, the player base is alive and healthy on that game on all platforms!
Does anyone know if adaptive trigger & haptic feedback is supported & works on PS5?
When a future sale comes I need to know which platform it would be the funniest way to play. As multiplayer is no fun.
Adaptive triggers do work on PS5, I know as thats what I own it on :D however I did actually disable it in the Playstation settings because it was really strong and sometimes it actually wouldnt register that I'd shot or aimed etc. But it is up to you!

The visuals aren’t really the issue, I like how it looks as it reminds me of back in the day. But they HAVE to sort out the servers surely it’s not that difficult

I'm still playing, and I love it.
Anybody who has been playing the OG PS2 version for the past 20 years does not have a problem at all with this game. I think they did great, even at launch. It's all better than 2005, so I'm happy.
It’s just the price tag and the main selling point of this game was that it had 64 player online multiplayer, which was instantly an absolute disaster
I really don't know why so many people had high hopes for this game honestly. Some people even thought it would kill off EA Battlefront. Did you guys really expect clunky/dated 19-20 year old games you played as an kid to become successful and outshine modern games?
I knew that wasn't going to be the case. Everyone's main problem with the game was how horrendous the servers were. THAT is unacceptable from them and they had no excuse

New updates yes, but I think they are only gonna be for fixing issues, not adding new maps unfortunately :(

No I just looked at how many people were playing. If you look at the numbers and the reviews, and then play the game for yourself, it is just not in a good place and hasn’t since it came out
To put in perspective how badly they screwed up the game there are triple the players playing swbf2 (2005) than the classic collection
