The truth is that there will not be another Alfa Romeo like this. There will not be another time in which engineers from Ferrari will sit together to design a sedan like this one. There will not be another time in which a few billion dollars will be put on the table to develop the best platform out there. If you have a Quadrifoglio, keep it tight. It is an instant classic.

Thanks for the fine review. I've had mine 2019 model, for two years plus, love the car, no reliability at all. We also have a Stelvio for four years, also without reliability issues. They are great driver's cars. Not your average Audi, BMW, or Merc.

I have one now 6 months. Race mode is actually the mode the car drives the best in. Its like its designed for race mode. As long as it dry , it puts all its power down fully in race and really gives you the full experience of what the car is capable of. In dynamic, while great in the wet, it retricts the car a lot, less boost in low gears etc. Amazing car overall, an absolute monster when you want it to be , but a very comfortable daily able practical car also. After 3 m3s before my qv I feel the qv is definitely more of a race car for the road than an M3 is. It's very unique and a very pure addictive drivers car.

Hi Tom... For your info we own a 2017 QF and its just utterly brilliant... Tip for you though... Find a decent Independant Specialist - someone who knows them and used to dealing with Alfas rather than Main Dealers. No major problems or faults and more reliable than Porsches we have owned in the past.. They make you feel special every time you drive one ... and people stop and chat with you all the time and even women admire it!

I don't doubt that it is! The combination of it not being mine, race mode invalidating the insurance and the fact I can't afford to buy them a replacement meant that the traction control stayed well and truly on!! Damp, early November on summer tyres also a factor. It's plenty of fun as is but with a bit more time (and better weather) I'm sure finding the limits is an endlessly entertaining prospect in this.

Haha! Yes, it's quite the car. Every bit as good as everyone says. In the wet... It's wriggly and that's being polite. But you know what you're getting with something like this. A very distinct car. And entirely agree about the wheels. They look great and really fit the design of the car. They've not overdone it on the size front, just got the whole set up right. 19's on that are likely great and just about big enough. That wheel design, even on a mito, looks lovely 😍

Michelin pilot sports are best tyres in cold, damp, wet ( British ) weather conditions.... standard Pirelli,s just about useless unless its a hot, dry, sunny day...... Bridgestone offer a fitment and they are quite a bit cheaper than the Michelins but in my experience they tend to wear more on the shoulders and nowhere near as many miles....
Earlier cars sit lower than later cars as they have different springs and dampers... so 19" wheels look fine anyway.
We swapped an M4 Competition for ours and traction in the Alfa is way better than that.
But if you hoof 500plus horsepower going round a greasy roundabout unless you are Kimi Raikkonen you better be prepared for the consequences! Especially in RACE mode. You been warned.

Sadly it’s most more likely than not gonna be good. If reselling is an issue (it is with me), then it’s something you should stay away from. I love this car but it’s too niche to sell in a reasonable time frame and price. The reliability concerns title seem to plague the cars ability to hold value or to resell. Also consider what dealer you have, if you have a competent dealer or multiple Alfa dealers it would be ideal for any warranty/recall work. Aside from that, but the car would be in my garage right now. Maintenance and service costs are the same as it’s German competitors.

Got 2019 model. Its not that bad considering we are talking about 500hp car. oil change in authorised service is 400 euro but I do it every 7500 km just to be sure. Every cca 30000 km be ready to change front brake rotors, thats little bit over 1000 euros, and the planed service after 60000 km is little bit costly, I think 2000 euro or something like that. Had couple issues like vacuum ventil on turbo, leaky front cooler and faulty infotainment display, but all these were covered by warranty. Which did end now(2 years) so fingers crossed. If I'd be looking for used one I would want one still with walid warranty, or one which has that 60000 km service already done.

Big service at 30,000 will cost you £1.000 or so but apart from that mini service and oils etc around £250-£300 or so... Got centreline exhaust mid section on ours, NJS Stage one tune 616bhp., switchable exhaust aswell.. it absolutely FLIES!!!
Avoid Pirelli tyres in the winter.. Michy much better..... ONLY thing we have had to change on ours is replacement battery.. bit steep at £180 odd and fuel pump started playing up once in a blue moon and went into limp mode, so replaced that as a precaution...but compared with other marques not bad at all.
No real issues at all apart from that

    • @larrychew1

The Trofeo White Tri-coat is stunning and understated at the same time. An interior designer friend describes this white as "crispy" - it's a very crisp white. I was going to get the Competizione Rosso Tri-coat initially but my friend who has the Competizione Rosso saw the Trofeo White at the dealer when he picked up his QV and had wished he got that instead. The white reminds me of the many white Alfas in the 1960's although those were not metallic. The carbon fiber bits are highlighted by the contrast with the white as mentioned in the review. The carbon fiber parts blend in when the car has a dark color. The tri-coat is pearlescent and in bright light at certain angles you see pink, blue, etc. metal flecks (flakes) in the paint. I also like that a QV in this color could pass for a whiteToyota Camry with a sport package to a non-car person. The Camry's rear diffuser is not as aggressive as the on on the QV.

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again!

Maybe ice on the road or aquaplaned???.... Years ago I was out on a snow covered road in a Range Rover Sport. Brand new vehicle, new tyres, abs brakes, 4-wheel drive, snow mode capability, all the gizmos under the sun.... only doing about 10-15mph maximum maybe.... put my foot on the brake pedal to avoid would you believe a woman pushing a pushchair in the middle of the road and most scary thing ever.... absolutely nothing happened apart from I heard a series of clicks from the braking system..... ONLY way I could avoid running her over was to stuff the car up onto the verge and into a bank.... I almost had a heart attack..... Car was recovered and inspected and like you they found nothing wrong with the car.....
Turns out when ABS brakes have no grip the computer will "search" until it finds grip .... that was the series of clicks I heard.
Lesson learned there. Always expect the unexpected and you yourself say that you slammed the brakes on.
Maybe some other circumstances caused it?
Its easy enough to blame the car but why were you slamming the brakes on in the first place?
Not trying to take the p but perhaps consider other possibilities and actions?
