First League Test match I ever saw as an 8 year old, I remember my father and a couple of his airforce mates going off at the tv when Nikau put the game out of reach, awesome win for NZ.
Watching this game as a 13 yr old late that night in 1991 I woke up my neighbours because it was a very rare in those days to get a victory against the Champs. Jarrod McCracken, Richie Blackmore right edge combo was 🔥 George Mann, Brent Todd, Tawera Nikau, Emosi Koloto held the Kiwis pack against the Aussie Superstar pack. My VHS back then was replaying this game for days after this epic victory lol... The Dean Lonergan concussion was the first ever I'd seen also as a kid and never seen it again.
See a few ex Tokoroa lads in the crowd,the kiwis played well that night.The aussies made changes in the next test and they hammered us in the second and third tests.
No ‘decoy’ aka obstructing runners every play...yet plenty of superb handling...forwards actually pushing in scrums instead of resting. ...better game back then...
Yes, I do still remember watching this Rugby League Test Match Game of the Kangaroos vs Kiwis being played at Olympic Park on Television at home in Surry Hills, Sydney, New South Wales in that very same year of (1991) of course. Yes, very indeed so it's very good to see our Rugby League Football being introduced into an Australian Rules Football into the so-called mad State of Victoria and especially in Melbourne and I would imagine that there be an awful lot of Australian Rules Football (Fans) Fanatics to see this Rugby League Football in which is a foreign football code to them for their Very (1st First) time all being among the Kiwi Followers &/or Supporters as such all having a Very Good Time to see and enjoy the Rugby League Football of course. Thank Christ for that at least getting beaten by (24 Twenty-Four) to (8 Eight) which is a (16 Sixteen) Point deficit the difference is NOT this &/or that bad at all which away better than by comparison getting a Flogging &/or Hiding by either (40 Forty) &/or (50 Fifty) &/or (60 Sixty) &/or even perhaps by (70 Seventy) and Plus more Points being scored against you which very embarrassing of a shellacking as a Cricket Score at least of course.
Watching this game I must say it's a pity frano didn't play more fullback for wigan and the kiwis. I understand wigan had Henry Paul and kiwis had Matty ridge but still h e looks a level above everyone out there.
Very hard on Hauf he had a couple of unhappy moments but the majority I thought he played ok. Shearer and Lewis were also dropped both of them almost scored🙄
This win was epic because in these days Australia had the Winfield Cup where only a few Kiwis were playing in eg. Gary Freeman, Brent Todd, Jarrod McCraken probably the only ones in the Winfield Cup so Australia always had the advantage they were Champs because of this. Many of the Kiwis were playing in England and local Auckland fox comp.

Hahahaha yeah my favourite part of this game was when the kangaroos destroyed the kiwis by about 40 in the next 2 tests to take the series and demoralise NZRL. Slice of Heaven hahahaha pure gold.

Yeah the last two games got thumped but the ref killed the kiwis in the second game some of the calls where horrendous.
