This is one of those day I wish I had a friend like Daniel mackler in my life. One of those few who really understands childhood trauma. Baad day today

Fulefilm Have your friends read a book about trauma. 'The Body Keeps the Score' by Bessel van der Kolk is a great one.

edheldude Thank you for caring to take your time. I will definitely check out the book, it sounds interesting. I live in a place that you can get if you loose your home, I have my own appartment but there is staff and a contact person I am forced to invite if I wanna keep the place. Alot of the people here are rehabilitating adicts, where's I come from the psyciatric health department. Many of the people here have problems of their own and the mayority of people are in to the leave the past behind you and get at job mentality. I have two or three friends left from outside where I live, I think one of them would be very intrested in the book but he is going through a similar crisis and is quite hard to get hold of at the moment. But he is very supportive as it is when he is able to hang out and I think he would love the book. I cut all contact with my old "friends" and family. It's hard to cut away but it feels worth it in the end if I can get out of here and start school again.

I'm loosing my self in that thought about self-reflection, mirror, searching for mirror and narcissism. Influenced by this RUclips-Narcissism-SelfHelp growth, getting a mirror in childhood is essential. If not, we'll search it desperately in our adulthood from another people, we'll have relationships where "everything is about us" in order to get a sense of Self from others. This is the energy that narcissists steal from other people. Another type of self-reflection, a healthy one, makes me insecure, doubtful to myself.... but it makes me feel the growth. Thanks

For most, satisfying short term desires is by far more important than understanding oneself...

I actually think that we all strive for a more animalistic mode of being because it relieves us from social stress. A large contributor to the developement of our self-awarenes were the social complexities our ancestors happened to be in. As we move on with society and technology it also becomes increasingly harder for individuals to keep up, so the social system that serves for individual survival becomes detrimental for many in forms of "mental illness".

Ugh sometimes I wish I could distract myself more... at times I'm almost envious of people that seem to perpetually be in that state. I'm probably WAY too self-reflective, but on the other hand its the way that I could really let go of some of the pain of my past.
I just realized that Ive missed some of your more recent uploads. Off to watch

Some people consider that animals have a sense of self that is more relational to their enviroment.

There is the kind of universal built-in double-bind, that echos whatever anyone puts out, and either it strengthens and confirms the good or the fear, but then, to turn it around, now that's really something and takes double the effort. You have to wonder if these humans are going to make it, all right.

@@maythesciencebewithyou So.... meanwhile:)))... before a grand research study comes along, we should just continue putting power in the hands of people who aren't self-reflective, who are irresponsible and too unwilling to face the truth in their own lives? People do not vote based on science. Their assumptions are way less deep than Mr. Mackler's. Wouldn't you agree?! :)

No, we are strangely the same, by intent, design, emotions, all of it. Just that humans have the gifts like speech & other obvious things. Wrongly believing we are more dif. than should be observed. Bigger egos give humankind egotistical misbeliefs when we should just, take it in our strides& which will set you right receiving love from animal friends.

Yes! And I wonder if adding Values, Morals, Ethics, and how to think more consciously, to the school curriculum, from Year 1 onwards, would help. Otherwise I am so fearful :) that the planet will become uninhabitable for humans, before they all evolve enough to co-operate instead of competing.

Specially those people who have disabilities and disorders that ceases their minds to function well,
Will that disability makes them non human at all ?

I like your talks very much. You’ve probably forgotten about this video and it’s exact content but I’ll comment anyways. 😊
There are so many different forms of consciousness coexisting together on this planet that I wonder if we all evolved here together as some sort of weird cosmic experiment to see if we could actually coexist. Why are we supposedly the only beings (if the dolphins and whales aren’t on par with us as you mentioned) that have evolved to be self aware? That’s very odd to me. This exclusivity...
I wonder if other planets in this universe have this multi-conscious melting pot of beings like we do here.

Would confronting them alleviate a lot of the guilt. … shame and anger …you’ve been carrying around since childhood . …. /???

I strongly advise you to read the books of the ethologist Vinciane Despret. 👌🏼
She humorously analyzes the biases with which scientists observe (or think they observe) animals and interpret what they see.
You have to read this to realize how much our species overestimates itself morally, intellectually, cognitively, culturally, ... 😁

Even though we are self aware, animals know their place. They can co-exist with the planet and nature without having to worry about their actions having a detrimental effect on the planet. They are living the proper way. We could chose to live in harmony with our planet, we just don't.

After watching this video I had some follow up thoughts today.. I'm a software developer.. and actually I thought that maybe our industry is driven not by industry need or trying to solve problems, but by developers who want to "switch to something new and cool". Because the developers are actually "the" assets for the companies.. so it's not only non reflective humans using technology, but also technology evolving in direction driven by compulsiveness and children-like impulses.. :S or is it different in the research field.. where's the line between them anyway.. well, just some random thoughts :p

its scary that the non self reflective types are in power to make such unsustainable damaging decisions, they act as if they were a non person free from accountability existing temporarily, disposable mindsets have no place when people acknowledge for the times and technologies available, this is all our home, no one will naturally be exempt as part of it, be mindful of your occupancy in our group, others want it pleasant as much as possible, because we'll make something others finish, something noble and needed.

You would be surprised at the number of people who blame their parents for their failings, character flaws, development and unresolved trauma. We also have to remember that parents are also product of their own trauma, repression(feelings) etc. A perfect discussion with parents is not always possible to resolve, so to get stuck by pinning everything on them is futile imo. Self reflection possibly can help getting us out of the loop probably and be a better version of ourselves. If not, what's the point.
