Allotment in a Box, ep 3: Salad🥬For long harvests of leafy greens, Kathy loves cut-and-come-again leaves✂️Perpetual spinach is a favourite as it is hardy with a long harvest period. Mixed lettuces are also great but they’re a little more tender. You can plant them out from April, but you might need to put some fleece over them if it gets cold at night.❄️
Once planted out, lettuces can be a bit slow to get going. But as the temperature warms up, you’ll start to see rapid growth.🌱 You can start harvesting the outside leaves of the lettuces within a couple of weeks, and the plant will continue to grow more😃
