If it was aired on television, these programs would have been edited for more commercials. Look at what CBS did to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as an example.
I'm not so sure that we will never see "such things again on TV." Television responds to market demand--when there is an audience, the programming appears to satisfy the demand. In the meantime, there are alternatives to the mass market, such as Toutube--Seek and ye shall find 😊
Possibly the most moving speech about Christ I have ever heard...and I was a Choirboy in a Cathedral... But these are beautiful, magnificent words about Our Lord When I hear them at Christmas,I cry,Always My favourite Christmas Hymn EVER... Even better than Wham! Last Christmas....and I adore that.... Let us remember what this Season is all about, and forget about our temptation of accumulation God bless you all Merry Christmas everyone 🎆🎄🎇🎄❤️
3 people gave this a 👎!?!?!? Bing Crosby was an amazing singer and artist, not to mention a wonderful person. This particular clip always gives me goosebumps. Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Thank you for uploaded this classic. It's a wonderful experience to see Bing Crosby singing and talking about Christ as he does in this show. Merry Christmas and may your family have many blessings.
This segment came from Bing's special, "Merry Christmas, Fred, From the Crosbys". It originally aired on CBS on Wednesday, December 3, 1975, at 9:00PM EST, following CBS' annual airing of "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer". Airing opposite this program, ABC showed an episode of "Baretta"; NBC presented a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation about Valley Forge (America's bi-centennial celebration was only 7 months away, and the networks aired programs in commemoration for months prior). The "Fred" in question, is, of course, the man sitting behind Bing, Fred Astaire. The program also featured Bing's family(Bing's daughter Mary is sitting next to Astaire) as well as The Young Americans, a show choir started in 1962, which is still around and giving performances. This was the first Christmas special Bing made for CBS Television, after six holiday shows for NBC, and eight prior to that for ABC. Bing's final Christmas show was in 1977, although the Crosby Family did appear in a program on CBS in 1978, entitled, "Bing Crosby - The Christmas Years", which featured clips from prior specials. @3:40 They must have done "The First Noel" in one take, because Bing is clearly distracted and hits a couple of klinkers as a result. Not a criticism, merely an observation. Also, an odd coincidence. The Young Americans appear on Bing's 1975 Christmas show. That same year, David Bowie scores with a hit song and album both entitled, "Young Americans". Bowie would appear on Bing's final Christmas offering in 1977(where they performed, "The Little Drummer Boy" together).
MisterUptempo my clip cuts off the first Noel. I was curious on the klinkers. What I was able to hear he was adlibbing his own notes, Just as he did to his music when he sang that style in his young years, as when musicians give their own interpretations. He was excelled in that talent. So I wish I could have heard the whole song. I was enjoying it and it was cut short☹️ So If so, I missed it.
@@buckjohnson1119 Hello. The First Noel a Bing is singing is actually from different show. It is 1971 Bing Crosby and the Sounds of Christmas. There is actually whole video on youtube: ruclips.net/video/TWIQ31--xt0/видео.html

Bill, thank you for putting "One Solitary Life" and "O Holy Night" together...........however for about 25 seconds the audio drops on "One Solitary Life." Is there any way to maybe re-upload the same post, but with no loss of audio? Thank you and God Bless you this Christmas!
It's so sad we won't be seeing things like this on TV anymore.

Fred Astaire is lurking on the sofa lol
I am guessing that this video was recorded in the late 1960s. Can anyone confirm (or dispute) this?
+Rossbach2 This special was produced in 1975.
ya
"Never put his foot in a big city"?
Um, I'm sure Jeruselum was considered that during his time.
+Osseous Rex (Color Streak) no one cares. Also, no, at the time it would still have been considered a town compared to Alexandria or Rome
correct. Jeruselum was downright puny compared to Alexandria and Rome.
Um, NO, or, Jerusalem was NOT considered a big city.
