I live with my mom and she drives a 2001 Santa Fe, and to this day, no wrecks, no stuck drive shafts, no major damage. It turns 12 this March (of manufactured, not owned)
The Santa Fe is a dog with the 2.4 also and the diff lock does nothing off road. The interior is awesome and I love the back seats that recline and the window shades!
I love you guys! You do an awesome job on your reviews. Everytime I am looking at a vehicle to purchase I come to the tube to see if you have a review on it. I have to say I was in no way going to buy a Hyundai. However, went out of town last week and the rental place gave us a Hyundai Genesis to drive. I was thoroughly impressed. So I decided to look at the Sante Fe. Love the RX, but for the money I think the Sante Fe has what I like. Thanks Again!
Bought mine 2 days ago (2.0 Turbo) - beautifully made! Excellent drive, the only thing I can say it lacks are power-folding mirrors and power opening/closing trunk. This is a GREAT vehicle!
My mother just got a 2017 AWD base w/ 185 HP here in Colorado (San Luis Valley). Only time it seems to lack power is climbing the passes at 10K feet. Also noticed it seems to pass better than equivalent vehicles from other manufacturers. Granted she's not going to win any races, but she's 69, so that's not an issue. Btw, there is no locking dif only a 50/50 front/back power split mode.
I love the Hyundai Santa Fe. I have one and it is great. I think it is the best Crossover in it's class and then some. Hyundai doesn't make you pay extra for things that should come standard on cars. I think Hyundai is doing great!
I can't wait to own it in a few months! Done a lot of research and this car seems to be the best of its category, if we consider the value/price ratio.
We really liked it actually, only traded it in because we needed more space. The SX4 is tough, gets decent mileage and in 4x4 lock mode it didn't let the worst maritime weather slow it down. only had one warranty call in in the near 7 years we owned it, the drive shaft going to the rear dif has a universal joint in it, that started to go. Factory paint job wasn't amazing as it started showing paint chips rather quickly...overall we liked it a lot, just needed more space.
very good review guys.. I believe the Hyundai is doing great..! they been working so hard to come up with new design without compromising the price to attract a new buyer.. I believe the Hyundai and kia is focus to build more practical cars that most young family buyers looking for..
Thanks Nathan/Roman...great review and explanation of its intended audience/purpose..Hyundai is still attempting to gain a greater market share and with every new product it is evident and seems to be improving.
This is definitely one of your best reviews. Brutally honest, yet also fair (poor acceleration-great interior). Now Hyundai will be sure to have you guys at their next "premier". What I want is a mashup between the new Santa Fe Sport and the CR-V plus the Escape.
I have been more than 6 years with my Hyundai Accent, and it has been one of the best purchase I have ever made... I have no reasons to not buy a Santa Fe 2013 in Turbo Diesel (Hyundai R-Engine 2.2 litres, 200 HP, 311 lb-ft).
Not sure why reviewers continue to test vehicles like this off road. They were not designed for off road or used off road. Test them for what they are meant for.
I've driven Santa Fe many years over Idaho's fire trails, hiking, fishing, and picking in back country areas, and the vehicle is no problem. it's attractive and comfortable around town and taking friends/colleagues out. Agreed, its not a humvee. it's not a humvee, so why grade it like one.
You guys ROCK! It is always entertaining and informative watching you both. Here in the Philippines we don't get the GDI turbo engines, but we do get a 2.2 diesel with variable geometry turbo engine though. It has almost 200HP and about 450 NM of torque. I have to agree with yo it is a good crossover but not really for off-roading. We chose this over the Ford Explorer due to its engine efficiency and fuel cost. Other than that, I think if looks way better than the Explorer - just my opinion
By the way, the quality, fit, finish and performance is good (for me I find it great). I have no doubt buyers will sure say its a bang for the buck. We have owned lots of Japanese vehicles and I tell you this time Hyundai is rocking the boat. I guess the only thing missing is the auto tail gate, which we don't really mind here in the Philippines. Here we always look at fuel consumption because we have terrible traffic, very strong air-conditioning, more toys and of course good looks.
Thanks dudes. Was considering the Santa Fe as an alternative to the new Pathfinder. Not happy with the 0 to 60 though. Pathfinder did way better. Will continue with my research with your assistance of course.
You guys don't do enough videos. Weird saying that with 1 a day lol ! Love your review and love more the off road suv trucks etc review... thx keep it up
How did you like your SX4? They look to me to be a handsome little car with just the right proportions. Also I had a swift GT in the early 90's and it was bullet proof.
I wouldn't say they are surpassing them, they are on the same level now. Not only due to the german designers and engineers working for Hyundai. I work at a Hyundai car dealership, the newer generations are awesome.
I dont know whats your problem, but I have 2 Hyundais in my family, and they have been GREAT cars, Both are running great, the older is over 6 years old and it is running like day one. If you still have the same perception of Hyundai over a decade ago, then please do some research and find all their cars are among the most reliables in the world now, with high owners loyalty, and it is an Award Winner brand, over others that havent received an award since years ago, like Toyota.
my 2011 easily goes thru what they did and only need the rear diff. locked on hills and some tuff mud orvery uneven terrain... but lightly ruff and shorter moguls, I do them in 2wd (on demand awd)... it's a very capable off roader, but not enough ground clearance for deep ruts or very deep water, or rock climbing.. but most light to med. level trails, can be handled !! technique is key for off roading as well. Oh, 19" rims aren't off road for sure.. I have 17's and room to air down few psi... granted, on some of the rougher stuff I've been thru, I had mickey thompson stz's :-)
Wasn't sure where you were taking us at the top of this review. Looked like you were not going to like the new Santa Fe...but looks like you liked it enough. Most of us are not members of the National 4-Wheeler's Club...so good for road driving and rain/snow...but perhaps not a sports car. Thanks for the info. Between Santa Fe (lwb), Ford Explorer and Buick Enclave - who wins?
I'm happy with the stereotype its forced the company to prove themselves so 30 years ago they had crap cars but not now. I've saved thousands over the years buying 3 different Hyundai products and usually get features other makes charge thousands more for.
Great review, in Australia they have 2.2 L Turbo Diesel which drives really well & has heaps of touque but still want to see the new Subaru Forester and Outback review before making a decision on a new car.
I'm trying to figure out which engine is suitable and maintenance is not too high, there is a 2.4 petrol and a 2.2 diesel for Santa Fe. Sometimes, I have some flood around knees level. Which engine is a better choice ?
They should have tossed some Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 tires on for a better all terrain drive. And the scrapping? Who cares, that's what the shield underneath is for! Awesome car
Well thats a premium brand with V6. Dont get me wrong, this is a beautiful car and I am planning to buy it, but just wanted to point out the MPG numbers were wrong.
Great looking inside and out. Mpgs could be better but with awd and actual power not bad. But when you see them at dealers the price is rather high. Saw a base2wd $33k not cool. Looks great but for the money ....
Venga vealo, manejelo y sea propietario hoy, es bien facil le dare una larga lista de opciones para escojer. Estoy en Curry Hyundai en Cortlandt Manor, NY. TE VEO AQUI PRONTO...
i hope you guys do roller test on 4x4s & awd so we will know how capable they are on snow and ice rather brinig them on colorado mountains where only true 4x4 can really do it(whats the point in doing it anyway)just explain the road clearance for that
I can't say, I haven't driven either :( But I'd get the Santa Fe, cuz the Vitara doesn't look old! But if you need an off-roader and you think the Vitara is a better off-roader, then of course you should get that :)
Question-- Does the diff lock actually split power 50% to the front axles and 50% to the rear axles? Or is the diff lock used to lock the axles from side to side?
BTW, I am also a HONDA owner, I used to have a Civic, now I have a CR-V, plus the other Hyundais, so, you can have an idea of what I expect from a car, considering I also like Honda.
Ha.... yeah it is tricky, which is why I put it in quotation marks. For starters though, Hyundai is much bigger than Suzuki, and offer a much larger range of cars. Also Hyundai is much more global (Suzuki is thinking of exciting the US market for instance, while Hyundai simply cannot keep up with demand for their cars). My opinion, but I would say that Suzukis don't look as attractive as the modern Hyundais. But I like the Kizashi and the Swift is a very popular car in my home New Zealand :)
LOLOLOLOL!!! Loved the end of the video. I'm starting to see these pop up in parking lots and I am impressed over the previous one as well. To bad they couldn't get at least 28 MPG for the HWY. You would think with its 10 speed transmission it would get a little better.
On Hyundai's scale of Invite TFLCar, Think about TFLCar, Send a car to TFLCar or Forget about them. Hyundai just might forget about them. They did the exact same expressions as Roman did when he scratched the bottom.
who cares if it's a off road vehicle or not, these reviews are entertaining to watch.
I live with my mom and she drives a 2001 Santa Fe, and to this day, no wrecks, no stuck drive shafts, no major damage. It turns 12 this March (of manufactured, not owned)

Agree. I have a 2018 2.0T and love it. Interior is great and power and ride quality is great but I don’t know how far it would get me off-road 🙂
Nathan has way too much fun in this. I guess that's why you left him out when you tested the viper. Thanks for another great review. Keep 'em coming.
I love you guys! You do an awesome job on your reviews. Everytime I am looking at a vehicle to purchase I come to the tube to see if you have a review on it. This is a GREAT vehicle!
Would you like to give us a 8 year later update??? =)
@@theminicooper In a Palisade now - best 7 seater ever!
Hello from 2018 😂😂 your videos has improved a lot since 2012
My mother just got a 2017 AWD base w/ 185 HP here in Colorado (San Luis Valley). Only time it seems to lack power is climbing the passes at 10K feet. Also noticed it seems to pass better than equivalent vehicles from other manufacturers. Granted she's not going to win any races, but she's 69, so that's not an issue.

I can't wait to own it in a few months! Done a lot of research and this car seems to be the best of its category, if we consider the value/price ratio.
at 7:20 the side profile of that car just looked so beautiful and upscale, damn this car really has me thinking Hyundai for my next 40K purchase
Enjoyed that last bit Nathan. Great review guys.
Oh shit, I bought my wife one a year ago. She loves it. It's an awesome vehicle for her perpose
very good review guys..
This crossover has a lot of features for a 2013 model. It's aged well too. Could pass for a 2015 or 2016 to the average person.
This is definitely one of your best reviews. Brutally honest, yet also fair (poor acceleration-great interior). Now Hyundai will be sure to have you guys at their next "premier".
What I want is a mashup between the new Santa Fe Sport and the CR-V plus the Escape.
You peoples really put this santa up to its limits. well done. for the car its a looker but Ok as a SUV.
I have been more than 6 years with my Hyundai Accent, and it has been one of the best purchase I have ever made... I have no reasons to not buy a Santa Fe 2013 in Turbo Diesel (Hyundai R-Engine 2.2 litres, 200 HP, 311 lb-ft).

exactly.
Santa Fe beats anything of equivalent price. I couldn't believe how much it trumps over rivals.
2013 SantaFe is owned 2013 CRV... I drive a 2008 CRV, i think its now to get a hyundai...
Tucson is greeat, Santa Fe is awesome...
Im in Oz and i bought the top spec 7 seater with the 2.2 turbo diesel. plenty of response and power
Great cross over, not offroader.
Its great when both of you are in the video
You guys ROCK! It is always entertaining and informative watching you both. My parents were about to get this car and then my mom went crazy and we ended up with an Lexus RX, but whatever, I still love them both.
We test at high altitude. We mention it often. The air density is less pervasive and less air to use for combustion.
Love your review and love more the off road suv trucks etc review... thx keep it up
Love your reviews guys. Watching from Littleton.
Finally!!! Both of you said something good about a Hyundai! (Thanks though) =)
I dont know whats your problem, but I have 2 Hyundais in my family, and they have been GREAT cars, Both are running great, the older is over 6 years old and it is running like day one.

just traded our 07 SX4 in on a 2.0T, SE trim SantaFe.....man its nice!
Very cool video, especially the end!
Thumbs up for the drive by shootings in the background.
my 2011 easily goes thru what they did and only need the rear diff. locked on hills and some tuff mud orvery uneven terrain... but lightly ruff and shorter moguls, I do them in 2wd (on demand awd)... it's a very capable off roader, but not enough ground clearance for deep ruts or very deep water, or rock climbing.. but most light to med. level trails, can be handled !! technique is key for off roading as well. How's the road noise? Though Hyundai is offering a lot of standard equipment for the money, the Sonata was far from quiet.
we bought this car and our second Santa Fe too we love it...
Is it really zombie ready?
You guys never reviewed the XL version of this car. I am soooo looking forward to that one!
Wasn't sure where you were taking us at the top of this review. Looked like you were not going to like the new Santa Fe...but looks like you liked it enough. Diesel every time. the performance is much better in every way. i have the 2011 version with the diesel and it's excellent
I couldn't finish this video. These guys are way too obnoxious.
I love the interior that’s my favorite color
Bought one, if your going offroad turn-off the traction control, makes a big difference.
the leather is sick
What a funny and great video. Loved it.
Yep. Our ORV trail takes us past an outdoor shooting range.
These guys rock! I love their reviews !
They should have tossed some Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 tires on for a better all terrain drive. And the scrapping? Who cares, that's what the shield underneath is for! Awesome car
wow wow wow you made my day. I didn't laugh this much for years. thanks for fun
You guys are awesome.

which one would u prefer? this or the new escape 2.0t ????
my dad went offroading with fj cruisers and pathfinders and really messed up road and we didn't hit a thing?
Hyundai Santa Fe отличная машина. По проходимости по заснеженной дороге превзошла все мои ожидания.
What kind of sunglasses Nathan has? Brand, model?
but the offroad was pretty good with on road tires right???
what's the wading depth for this car?
Is the santafe better or the CX9?
Roman u need to review. The Nissan Murray crosscabriolet convertible
Venga vealo, manejelo y sea propietario hoy, es bien facil le dare una larga lista de opciones para escojer. Estoy en Curry Hyundai en Cortlandt Manor, NY. TE VEO AQUI PRONTO...

2013 Honda Accord Sport or 2013 Santa Fe sport 2.0T ?
Great vid!
I can't say, I haven't driven either :( But I'd get the Santa Fe, cuz the Vitara doesn't look old! But if you need an off-roader and you think the Vitara is a better off-roader, then of course you should get that :)
This Santa Fe looks better than the CRV, Murano, or the Rav4 for sure.
the hyundai santa fe did pretty good with on road tires
Sweet review; focus st review pleaseeeee
Question-- Does the diff lock actually split power 50% to the front axles and 50% to the rear axles? Or is the diff lock used to lock the axles from side to side?
Don't hate the maker, hate the stereotype shadowing the maker.
P.S. I'm a Hyundai fanboy.
Woooah. 30 grand base price! Is it worth it guys?
BTW, I am also a HONDA owner, I used to have a Civic, now I have a CR-V, plus the other Hyundais, so, you can have an idea of what I expect from a car, considering I also like Honda.
You guys should look in to the new 2014 outlander and the outlander Hybrid.
I like this car. Looks very nice, but I prefer the azera even though it cost $7k more, it looks alot better.
Will you guys do a review on the 2014 Subaru Forester when it's available?
Ha.... yeah it is tricky, which is why I put it in quotation marks.
For starters though, Hyundai is much bigger than Suzuki, and offer a much larger range of cars.
Also Hyundai is much more global (Suzuki is thinking of exciting the US market for instance, while Hyundai simply cannot keep up with demand for their cars).

But I like the Kizashi and the Swift is a very popular car in my home New Zealand :)
Can u pls review the 2013 jeep wrangler and more on road than off road
Well it use to be unreliable, but now it is a lot better brand! People just hasn't given it the time of the day.
Instead of using the awd why not try the 4x4 version its a total different drive and performance of road is good
LOLOLOLOL!!! Loved the end of the video. I'm starting to see these pop up in parking lots and I am impressed over the previous one as well. To bad they couldn't get at least 28 MPG for the HWY. You would think with its 10 speed transmission it would get a little better.
It this car big enough for a guy whos about 6ft 3 ???
Never think of going off road!
I really like the design
Important to toe that this car isn't made to go off road like some truck you talk about. Not Santa Fe's intended clientel
The gunshots in the back excites me
i luv the front design wtf
On Hyundai's scale of Invite TFLCar, Think about TFLCar, Send a car to TFLCar or Forget about them. Hyundai just might forget about them.
They did the exact same expressions as Roman did when he scratched the bottom.
For some odd reason I am getting errors when I try to paste the link. Mine did it in 8 seconds flat with 87 octane fuel and 600 pounds in the car.
"We Rule" 8:46
"Who is this WE Kimosabe?" Roman
Please do a 2013 Ford Edge Limited Review please TFLCar!!!
