I really like how you just went for it, this really showed what the AWD system is capable off. Especially considering that you were on stock all season tires...
That was awesome!!! Living in Minnesota I know what it's like to drive in the snow and ice. Can't wait to get this vehicle! I'm impressed with your driving skills Mr. California boy ;)
I don't drive off-road but I love seeing crossovers venture across land tailored to body-on-frames. I think it'd be really cool if Hyundai made an off-road capable version of the Santa Fe and dubbed it something else like the Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 or Santa Fe Warrior Edition, something to distinguish it's off-road prowess. I love that you keep reviewing this vehicle, but I'm always fighting the urge to walk into a Hyundai showroom LOL.
We drive in the deserts of Arabia, namely Dubai. The similarity between dune bashing and snow driving, is remarkable. You've got some good driving skills. Well done 👍
I bought 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD and Hyundai’s AWD system has improved a lot better than older generation technology. The new Htrac AWD performs more like a 4x4 system now. Haven’t tested as of yet in snow but light or heavy rain fall it performs excellent by far than a 2WD vehicle.
Totally take it off-road. By the way, if you want to see the best deal on the CURRENT model in your zip code, check out: quotes.everymandriver.com?cid=YT - It’s a free site with competitive prices from qualified dealerships in your area. - Everyman Driver Approved!
I had a 2005 Model and I went off road with it a lot! it did very well actually! I added some all terrains and kept up with lots of jeeps....my videos are on my channel...nice to see the Santa Fe is still able to do this stuff :)
the system works because you know how to use it and drive off-road. keep on the gas, point and shoot. Can you test the Forester XT and the Kia Sorento on the same off road area?
Wow, I miss this type of test you do, I know now you have been more restricted, but this is a real life test, an no those rollers used for marketing that some brands use to promote their AWD system. I think all of us we are agree that this Santa Fe doesn't have a brilliant AWD and traction control to help to send power side to side, but after seeing this video, is clear what it can really handle when you put your foot on the gas.
Cant believe the sunroof did not shatter! Thats the story with all our customers, "I was just pulling into my driveway at an angle and the roof just shattered!!!" should show them this video!
Great video. I am thinking of purchasing this vehicle. Were you running with snow tires, or all season? I ski A LOT, and I like this car, but want to be sure about its snow capability.
hey man, i own one and they are really capable on snow. i went out on a snow storm toward thw ski slopes with a deeeepppp snow like 1 meter on the edge of the road and 30 cm on the trail and it performed brilliantly with - 8 degree celcius but i was running on the all new nokian tires which are famous for snow and ice driving, i highly recommend u get nokian weatherproof suv and you will destroy the snow in ur way
With winter tires situation would have been different. Dave has used the LOCK mode , but not always. Dynamax AWD system manages power distribution front / rear , and this in my opinion is enough.
The next time I'm on the miller jeep trail and I see another santa fe and kia stucked and beat up I'm going to send the owner this video. These are on the road mild adverse conditions vehicles and are not meant to be driven offroad unless it is a well maintained fire road. With zero undercarriage protection, no transfer case, low range, front and rear heavy duty diffs, or lockers your repair bill will be massive if you think that suv can go on trails meant for 4wd vehicles. Getting you to slopes in reasonable driving conditions or home from work after a big snow dump yes that vehicles is capable of all day or night.
It needs more complex AWD system with traction control braking the wheel that's slipping. Basically all other AWD cars have one, even the cheapest, dumbest Dacia Duster in Europe (which cost over 2x less money than base Santa Fe).
sic22l It's working a heck of a lot better than FWD-based Toyota/Acura AWD systems that Dave has tested in the past. At least Hyundai's AWD relies less on the traction control to let the core AWD system work as intended as opposed to cutting all power at the first sign of lost traction.
Scott K It is FWD based system! There was no traction control also when it was needed. Santa Fe was spinning like crazy! Traction control not always reduces power, in most AWD cars it can use the brakes to brake the wheel that's spinning (automatically, power goes to the other wheel, the one with some grip).
Scott K not sure which Toyotas you're speaking of but, my two RAV's go excellent in all conditions. The Venza actually scores dead even with the Outback by Subaru, and, well, the 4Runner and Sequoia are actual 4wd vehicles, so, a bit of a difference there. My parents own a 2008 5.7 Sequoia, 4wd, and it only got stuck sideways one time in my driveway because of the 2" of ice under the snow, and my driveway has a slope to it, and it was rutted out from where my wife and I had been in and out so much. The only one I can't speak for is the Highlander. I live where it snows a lot, and have had regular normal snowfalls of two feet and more, and have managed those snows just fine if we go in and out a few times to make a road, before it gets really deep..tires makes a huge difference. . I've never once, in all of my years of owning a RAV4, 2007, 2010, and 2013 model, ever been stuck and pulled out yet..ice is nearly impossible to do anything with. My parents Sequoia tore the snow up. Even 2'..not one problem. Ice, yeah, different story. :-)
Well hell my Santa Fe does not run like that in the snow mines a limited but still!!!!! That is identical to my Santa Fe besides I have black in the iner of my rims!! And my backup camera just turned off on its own
damn! i thought U were gonna get stuck BIG TIME at 2:09....to 3:09....but that SF came thru!! Which begs the question..............Have U EVER got a vehicle so stuck where U needed a tow???
the problem : awd and 4wd , if dont have 4 wheels locking , then u face this , people get cheat when they buy 4wd and awd , plus most of suv s dont have 4wd locking such as 4runner limited one
Santa Fe had an unreliable birth (early models) & performance issues. Now fixed & given the value. Fuel economy isn't what you look for in an SUV but is capable. VS a Toyota which is pricier spare parts & customer service alongside parts are cheap too. Unless you drive in the snow or rugged terrain everyday then you'd opt for a Range Rover, Jeep or tougher models in the same range. However Hyundai is the brand to look out for. Emerging & creeping slowly to win customers. Value, price, reliability (Toyota wins here but...) safety, options, availability are components customers seek nowadays. Kia, Mazda & Hyundai delivers that like a butler with a silver tray. American brands to definitely to level up sooner or later they'll struggle in the SUV department.
+Gustavo Lagioia To have used in this way for few kms, I'm sure it wont make ANY difference in the car, I believe still have the same chances than a totally brand new car, to fail or have some problems in the few thousand kms. I wouldn't mind to buy "this" DEMO, at the end that's why is a demo car, and there's more crazy drivers trying to burn tyres on asphalt (killing eventually transmission) than him ;)
Gustavo Lagioia I seriously agree with you! Dave literally abused the hell out of this car! Probably Need to check alignments, bottom of the vehicles (sure there is no skid plates), any dings or scratches, etc! Way too many to mention

We have a trick we use in Canada for driving in snow and ice: Winter Tires.
I really like how you just went for it, this really showed what the AWD system is capable off. Especially considering that you were on stock all season tires...
Just imagine what this thing could've done with proper snow tires... I'm blown away by what he was able to accomplish on the stock tires!
One of the things I enjoy most from these off road videos is how much fun Dave has as he's driving. Facial reactions are priceless!
That was awesome!!! Living in Minnesota I know what it's like to drive in the snow and ice. Can't wait to get this vehicle! I'm impressed with your driving skills Mr. California boy ;)
This thing looks so good in the snow and with those LED tail lights! Great vid! I need one of these
I don't drive off-road but I love seeing crossovers venture across land tailored to body-on-frames. I think it'd be really cool if Hyundai made an off-road capable version of the Santa Fe and dubbed it something else like the Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 or Santa Fe Warrior Edition, something to distinguish it's off-road prowess. I love that you keep reviewing this vehicle, but I'm always fighting the urge to walk into a Hyundai showroom LOL.
this is awesome, great tests. no one ever does anything in their tests or they're catered to that vehicle.
We have a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2000 Hyundai Coupe.
I'm very impressed.
We drive in the deserts of Arabia, namely Dubai. The similarity between dune bashing and snow driving, is remarkable. You've got some good driving skills. Well done 👍
good driving skills always helps. Dave knows what he's doing.
How is it different than this? I drive a 2017 and find it’s wonderful off road
I will say it performs better than this though. I have the refresh version so maybe that changes stuff
I LOVE your car reviews!!! You're so positive, exciting and fun!! :)
Great video as always. Good background music btw Dave...
Rahul Shah Thank you!
Power Hyundai! #HyundaiFan :)
Nice one Dave that was awsome. Thanks for that.
Really shows how good the Santa Fe is off road. Glad I bought one now :-).
I want to buy one. How reliable is this car?
i have a 2012.
these cars have decent
off road capabilities.... but
they need better ground clearance and larger tires
yeah you can get a lift kit , me and waifu just got one and we're already looking at lifting it
I owe this exact vehicle and this video makes wanna take it off road 🤪 great video!

very good review...if you watch roman mica`s review the car couldnt go up you driveway..this one gives alot more credit to the sante fe.
I had a 2005 Model and I went off road with it a lot! it did very well actually! I added some all terrains and kept up with lots of jeeps....my videos are on my channel...nice to see the Santa Fe is still able to do this stuff :)
Wow you Put that car through its paces and they did very well. Nice!
jungle jingle That was a fun day :-) Thank you!
que buena maquina esHyundai
Awesome driver! Very nice car, respect to Hyundai
good video glad I have the exact same car fully loaded lol 😂 now I know what to expect in the winter from this car here in Pennsylvania
the system works because you know how to use it and drive off-road. keep on the gas, point and shoot.
Can you test the Forester XT and the Kia Sorento on the same off road area?
Just wanted to see what they do offroad as I'm looking at one...now I'm subscribed to your channel!🤣
surprisingly capable...
Sangmin Lee
Why is it a surprise? They're developed in Korea, in which gets a lot of the white stuff.
Hey Dave, what a great video. Looks like you put the SUV thru it's paces pretty good.
I am very impress.......... I love it Hyundai Santa Fe AWD
Hyundai Santafe Excellent
This was so cool!
Wow, I miss this type of test you do, I know now you have been more restricted, but this is a real life test, an no those rollers used for marketing that some brands use to promote their AWD system. Hyundai Santafe is excellent value for money..good model & engine
Great car, I got the 2017 AWD 7 seater and I love it.
I want to buy one. How reliable is your car until now?
Thats some good driving skills . Nice video
we need more off road reviews like this (in the summer mud too)
Wow. I really didn't expect this much from Hyundai
santafe can do this??? wow~. in korea, most people don`t believe this before whatching your video.
Not bad for a Hyundai on offroading maybe with good A/T- A3 tires you think
That turbo whistle doe
Awesome ride! Love your videos. When are they sending you a subaru???
Pedro Perez Thanks my man... no word on WHEN I'll get a Subaru. Keep check on our FB page though - Dave
جـــمــــيــــــــــلــة . .👍🏽
Keep up the good work
Can you make a offroad video of Hyundai Tucson 2016?
My wife wants to get a traverse she has the 2013 fwd 2.0t I think that would be a mistake.
i have 2015 satna fe 2015 turbo this car is coooooooool for off road
Great vid. what are the best years for a Santa Fe?. Thank you in advance
Cant believe the sunroof did not shatter! Thats the story with all our customers, "I was just pulling into my driveway at an angle and the roof just shattered!!!" should show them this video!
It's pretty solid off road, for a not that "off-roady" SUV. Just curious, did you had the AWD system locked, or was in Auto mode???
Great video. I am thinking of purchasing this vehicle. Were you running with snow tires, or all season? I ski A LOT, and I like this car, but want to be sure about its snow capability.

I'd like to see a Where Are They Now as my AWD konked out two days ago...
With winter tires situation would have been different. Dave has used the LOCK mode , but not always.
Dynamax AWD system manages power distribution front / rear , and this in my opinion is enough.
It's the cheapest, dumbest AWD system on the market.
If you don't have it, just shut up !!!
scartos scarto Your answer is full of arguments...

Does the 2013 sante fe awd have the same awd system or was 2015s upgraded?
Impressive, particularly if that's the only way to get home!
can you turn on an off the AWD lock while the car is in gear or moving?
best cars Hyundai no doubt about it!
Finally, Hyundai bettered itsAWD system. Dave, i guess since the 4Runner incident, you never gonna attempt that icy puddle again. hahahaaa
i love santa fe good
Nice job on the music
Awesome! Dave, was it on all season tires or winter tires?
Ike Lee All Season.
50% car 50% skills
Seems rear wheel dominant.
don't do it in a tucson folks, you'll break every god damn protective cover under it 😂
Qué maravilla de coche 👍👌
Reduce little bit your tire pressure
Just think if that thing had better tires on it, I think it would of done better!

+DazdnCofuzd I agree. This looks just like the various Subaru's I've owned over the years. All behave similarly.
Это по вашему бездорожье?
This is such a sexy Crossover! Everything else is boring and doesn't make me happy!
Well hell my Santa Fe does not run like that in the snow mines a limited but still!!!!! That is identical to my Santa Fe besides I have black in the iner of my rims!! And my backup camera just turned off on its own

Водитель молодец! 👍👍👍
Did you have 4wd lock on

Amazing suv nice video thanls
Why didn't you lock the differential?
It don have diff lock
@@PoopHahah-yk5zb Thank you for getting back to me! I haven't been able to sleep over this since 2022!
Does this car have diff lock?
It was cool!!! =)

If there wasn’t snow it would probably would have been different
Hyundai sees this they might never give you another one. 😂
The front bumper got a smack at one point. 😭
And a couple of weeks after that same santa fe was sold as a "DEMO" lol.

Failled the diagonal test.
Santa good😍
Would like to see how it goes in deep mud
Paul Robinson give it a shot :-)
i think this car is specially manufacturized by hyundai for ad
impressive
Крутая тачка!!!
Please don't use music. The exhaust note is all we want to hear. The track is annoying AF.
Mike Burley ok, I’ll fix it.
@@everymandriver Great videos otherwise, glad someone offroaded a Santa Fe, not many will take the time.
Shame it can't lock the difs...
why? why? why would u take that off reading? gee wiz
+tom Jones I promise not to take it off reading ever again, thank you.
Why? Why? Why would you make such a dumb comment?
AWD is so bad wow ! axles do not work in sync front spins while rear does nothing...without momentum it is useless
With better tires it will be so much easier
