      No, it does not.
      You look after your own.
The cafe owner is trying to make a living. He may even be the owner of the cafe.
What is so wrong with earning a crust from affluent tourists, if you can help out your neighbour?
That is humanity and civility right there.

    • @Bobskiboy85

He didn't mean it that way at all and its not a tourist trap. Thats actually a very nice gesture as he acknowledges that salaries are not the best in comparison to countries tourists come from, so they give the locals a little break. Nothing wrong with that at all. I live in Eastern Europe now myself and when I do eat out, I am conscious one meal in a middle of the road restaurant, which is still very cheap in comparison to the West, can be quarter of someones monthly wage. I can go to Paris or back home to London and get more royally screwed by prices in a restaurant in my own country!

In eastern EU if you go to a proper restaurant you will wait 30 minutes or 40 for the food, because they don't use any, microwaved food, or caned and frozen food, they buy the freshest ingredients and they prepare it on the spot, so you do have to wait for them to prepare the food for you.

Food might be underwhelming at times but if the staffs makes any effort to make your visit pleasurable then most people won't bother giving you bad reviews. As for good reviews, either you have to be exceptional in one way or the customers is a big foodie OR he is someone who reviews everything.

And gotta say that waiter's blaming it on people from third world countries like African countries sounded off, perhaps even a bit racist. How many African tourists does he think they get? Those reviews we saw came from Sweden, Ireland, Ukraine, Slovenia and Greece. And it sounded to me like they were from people who were used to travelling, as well, and perhaps knew a thing or two about what to expect. The interior of the place was fancy, and the prices matched it, so if the costumer service and food wasn't top notch it would obviously disappoint any experienced traveller. I think the term "tourist trap" seems like a very appropriate description of this place, even though Peter was generous with his star giving it was obvious he was not impressed with the food.

Jeremy Jk oh, you have to pay or otherwise you will face charges. For example in China, say maybe Beijing - many foreigners get scammed. Usually approached by young women who talk them up in English and invite them to a specific cafe where they scam you. You order food or a drink, but somewhere in the smallest script it says the prices like $300 for chicken and a salad. Or maybe they don’t show prices at all to confuse you. So when the bill comes out, it’s huge but you can’t do anything about it really. I don’t know much about taking matters to court but as far as I know the scammers use the law in their own favor

(im not sure myself to be clear) I don't know but in my country there is a program called Undercover in het buitenland, where he visits every foreign country to expose these people and put himself in danger. and he has taken the bait on purpose, in many cases it were people preventing him from exiting and starting to threaten him. But that's in the really sketchy cafe's that bad tourguides get paid to lead u towards. In many cases these people are very scared of the police because police tries to help tourists. But then we are talking about rediculous prices for drinks, a full setup scam that happens everywhere around the world.

In Greece the water is also free. Some restaurants serve you a bottled water, sometimes they don't ask, but the cost is from 1 to 2 euros the most, for 1,5 liters bottled water. Almost in every restaurant there is a basic fee for the service, which is from 0,50 to 2 euros the most. But generally in the center of Athens, in the tourist area, the food is not expensive. The greek salad costs from 5 to 7 euros with feta cheese included. With the money these 2 guys spend, 60 euros, four people can eat everywhere in the center of Athens, with beers, salad and 4 or even more plates full of food.
Of course there are and the fancy expensive gourmet restaurants, but you have to go on purpose to eat a gourmet food and to spend much more money. But apart from that, the prices are reasonable.
