I have the Sigma, she sounds amazing and has a great feeling. I choose her over 60+ other guitars, some way more pricy and for me she won every single time.
I really like the sound and looks of the 'slope shoulder Sigma'. I wonder who is making those these days? They used to, back in the 70's and 80's, have ties to Martin. In fact about 5 years ago my wife picked up a guitar for me at a yard sale for $25. On the head stock it says "Sigma", in the same script that Martin uses. It's a 00 size, and in the sound hole, on the inside of the back, is an ink stamping that says "CF Martin Nazareth PA". That, and the name on the head are the only markings on it. It's rosewood with a spruce top, a 'V' shape neck and it sounds and plays great! It's the best $25 we ever spent on a guitar. But that's all we know about it. Always wondered if it could possibly be from the factory in Nazareth??? Never know 8) --gary
I own the larger dreadnaught fender, the Redondo. I gotta say for a casual player it’s great! Neck feels awesome. And who doesn’t love that headstock!?!
The first thing I look for in any acoustic is the nut width. If it's less than 45mm or 1.75" it's not for me, so unfortunately none of these meet my brief. Alvarez is one of the very few brands at this price range that does.
@Ben For me, the Fender sounded the best by far thanks to Fischman (spelling?) and then the Sire. Sigma was great too, especially with Ben on those blues, wow! Also, the Fender Newporter is the prettiest too, just sayin'.
Sire A+, Sigma A-, Fender C, Yamaha C-. Taylor F (sounded like a uke with a low end boost). Since I want to play blues it would be Sigma but the Sire sounds the best overall.
The Fender acoustic guitars lack depth and volume in my opinion but look real pretty and the neck is very comfortable. I think the Yamaha and Epiphone acoustics sound better than the Fender acoustics. Sire Larry Carlton A3 Grand Auditorium sounds the best to me.
Thanks again Ben, love your presentations. I am looking for a "small" that plays easy because of my arthritis problems im shoulders, fingers and wrists. I am 65 years old and do not want to stop because of that totally. I have a Gibson j-45 and a big Lakewood, but not longer able to play them because of body size and/or wideness of neck at saddle. Desperately looking for a smaller body guitar with easy playability. Can you help me??
I have similar issues with large body guitars. I've found that an OM or 000 body size works well for me...nothing much wider then 15 inches at the lower bout. Martin 000 or 00 - 28's & 18's. Taylor's 12 size concert body series (512, 612 etc.) are compact and of course the Taylor neck is really comfortable for most players. I'm sure you can find something that should get you back to playing again.
I started playing Parlour size guitars several years ago, and I love them. Check out the small Alvarez models as a starting point, or the recording king dirty thirty four something a little funkier. There are loads of options out there! 😁
I don't disagree, that Larry carlton sound amazing in the price range. I wonder if Andertons were given a few "golden samples", though. Other than that, the Baby always beckons me. Sounds fantastic, but a very different sound.
Sire and sigma easily the best in there own different ways would go with the sire as it would cover more bases for my £300 ish others Nah especially the baby Taylor , I know these things are travel size but they sound bloody awful .
Sigma was the one for me.
Ben... That was beautiful man 🤟
Sigma sounded the best and looked the best. Loved your playing Ben. Its very casual and of great satisfaction. Thanks for making a nice video.
Sire are knocking it out of the park with the Larry Carlton stuff.
Ben, the blues you played on the Sigma was fantastic. What was it and do you have a lesson on it? Great stuff thanks.
Agreed. Dug that a lot
Clapton unplugged
@@alexrousedds Malted Milk?
I was making it up as I went along! I can give lessons on that style of playing though for sure...
@@bensmithguitar I would like that lesson too.

The fretboard on that Taylor is stunning.
Because it has poopstains?
@@rtxf It has flames my guy.
Damn that Sire sounds awesome!
Really liked the tune you played on the new porter too. Pretty man.
Brutally honest opinion 👌. Sigma sounded the best and looks the bollocks 😀
Is "looks the bollocks" positive or negative?
That's positive 👍@@1bh2nd3md
Great video. I really enjoyed your playing, and your style.
Sigma sounded so good ! 😊
Beautiful playing. Thankyou for suggesting and so well Demo-ing some very nice guitars.

Ok ... I get it ... 4 small guitars and this bigger one which sounds amazing 😁
Nice turnaround play. Big thumbs up. I like it.
Reckon the Sigma stole the show….. and I’m bias with owning an Sire A4 Grand Auditorium.
I've always liked sigma from when they used to be under the wing of Martin Guitars.
God the sire is so far away the best sound of this bunch
I own the larger dreadnaught fender, the Redondo. I gotta say for a casual player it’s great! Neck feels awesome. And who doesn’t love that headstock!?!
The Sire "Larry Carlton" would be my choice, looks and sounds lovely and looks and sounds like a much more expensive guitar
The Sigma looks and sounds better

Did sigma go back to their old logo on the headstock?
Good playing with the sigma❤
Gretsch G9500 is a very nice looking and sounding parlor guitar, and it's priced under 200.
I just ordered an Ibanez AC3400PN because of the 1.77" nut. Its a GC/OO body. USD300.
I would go sire then sigma. The rest I would pass on.
The idea of a camping-sized guitar (Baby Taylor) is appealing but yeah - the Sire really stands out.
3:27, is that written in the stars :D?

Sire Larry Carlton A3 Grand Auditorium sounds fantastic
I have a Sire A7, they are wonderful guitars
That Sigma was love to my ears
BT1 may be good for my move driving through Canada to Washington in the summer.
Love your acoustic reviews..I would like to see a review on the Martin d13e from the road series and hear some flat picking on it

Ben looks like a different person and he wasn’t even that heavy. Amazing. Good for you mate and congrats.
What finger picking style is that? Would love to learn in
The played on the sire
Sigma sge win , ill buy It soon ;)
Herringbone Purfling, the binding is just the outer layer.
What about the Little Martin? (LX1)
I don't disagree, that Larry carlton sound amazing in the price range. I wonder if Andertons were given a few "golden samples", though.

Sire or the Baby Taylor
Thanks they were all good but those 2 stood out for me
Ben where is the rest of you? You look amazing. Oh and sound amazing too.
I would probably go for the Fender (all my guitars are Fender) but I did like the Sire…
I want the Sire, Taylor and Yamaha :PP
Just bought the sigma
wow, that sigma nuts
Sigma👍
I'm bitching at repairing and setting up guitars but I can't play for toffee 😳
Sometimes You Just Got to Have A $300 Guitar and leave the Expensive one Home When Camping 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
Don't be too hard on the Fender Newporter Ben, in their defense they do make a reasonable electric guitar.......................
Sigma
Pay him money to say NICE NICE NICE NICE NICE,,et al. How articulate and insightful.
Sire and sigma easily the best in there own different ways would go with the sire as it would cover more bases for my £300 ish others Nah especially the baby Taylor , I know these things are travel size but they sound bloody awful .
I have found the Vintage range of guitars are super good value for money. Good sound. Found your video very interesting. Cheers ☺️
Did our man do his nails?
Always, nail bar once a month, or they just break..
Ben buddy, you just proved you can make a silk purse👛 out of a pigs ear +1😂😂😇 respect and stay healthy all. 😇
Too much painful sibilance again when using headphones! Presumabaly recorded with the same setting as the Dreadnought episode.
I feel for ya having to shill those ugly poor quality fenders
I am sorry I had to quit watching this because that neck shaking drove me crazy. I admit I am the a-hole but I had to say something.
