I actually liked the emotional progression Aloy goes through. And I thought it was smart of the devs to wait till the end of the main game to introduce Burning Shores. Aloy had spent her life in isolation, convinced she would be alone her whole life. And over the course of Forbidden West, she meets new people, learns to trust others, and builds her own little family (calling Beta her sister is a dead giveaway). So when she meets Seyka and realizes she has these feelings for her, at first she tries to repress them. But slowly she starts to accept them. In the end, when Seyka returns those feelings, I did choose the “Love” option because it felt like the natural next step for Aloy, to accept acceptance in all its forms. I hope we get to see Seyka again in the next game.
never.. not ever in a million years did I ever expect her to find love. Like it was the last thing in my mind, it was always protecting everyone else. She actualyl opened up herself to Seyka, something she's never done before. Rost would be so happy knowing she found someone, even though it might be a while till they see each other again - they will wait for each other. Then in the end, when they kiss - Aloy is finally doing something for herself that makes her so happy.
And why it have to be LGBTQ? Is there no more normal people in this world? This game is actually one of my favorites, but if the dev is continue with the LGBTQ, i must say that this is no longer my favorite game..
@@rivaldi14 um. Why does it matter if it’s LGBT….? I mean have your own opinions on the game please, you have a right to do that but like - it really doesn’t effect the story that much, okay yeah she dates a girl instead of a guy. Even before this, there are a few other gay characters in the game. It’s called being diverse. I’m sorry but I’m not sure I understand your point- I mean do what you want, but that’s just a lot of unwanted negativity that nobody asked for. And “normal people”?? as if people who’s re LGBT aren’t? Well there’s a lot of people i’m sure in this comment section LGBT, including myself actually.
I have no idea how anyone could play either of these games and not know that Aloy was at least far from straight. Like seriously why is this a surprise to anyone?
I don’t think people care about that. It just felt really rushed and unnecessary in this situation. Aloy is a character that knows what world she lives in her world is messed up and destroyed and she is trying to fix it. So when Aloy would say “I don’t have time for relationships “ it made sense because realistically she doesn’t. Yet this just felt unearned they only met 3 days ago . Yet people will give it brownie points anyway just cause.
@Karn Liberated omg here we go. Just because I don’t like a relationship I’m “homophobic” look idc I feel like everyone should love everyone no matter race gender i just really don’t care. But one thing that pisses me off is when game or shows just have LGBT couples in just to get brownie points and people love it JUST for that reason. There some relationships that I really love like PB and marceline because it was actually developed and fleshed out. It didn’t feel forced if they would of had a full game instead of just dlc to flesh out these two character’s relationship more I would of loved it. But like I said they didn’t. Again calling people homophobic just because they don’t like a relationship you like is so weird and shows how insecure you are
@@jackluffy7914 mean, yeah it was three days, but a busy three days. Seyka found someone who actually supported her when she was at her lowest. Aloy helped save her sister and people, and found someone she could fight alongside. They conquered the closest thing her people have to living gods, defeated a metal devil together, and had a good synergy for working together. More people have fallen for Aloy for a lot less. As for Aloy? This was something akin to looking in a mirror. She finally found someone who could actually fight alongside her, was willing to do the right thing even if it meant angering those around her. Seyka is someone Aloy could see as an equal, and they both went through a lot of hell in a few days. Sounds far more exciting then any date I've been on. Also, attraction is naturally weird. Some people you can spend months or even years trying to woo and they will barely give you the time of day. Others, you just naturally click with after only a short time. I feel all the life and death moments they went through together helped as well. We are also talking about an 18 year old who has been through more life or death situations then most, lived with little proper social contact, and is known to have barriers up to not let people in. But Forbidden West has, in part, been about lowering those barriers, and letting people in. Allowing people to be a part of her home. Her family. We are also trying to give justification for a video game character in a fantasical world that we can never truly experience, so eh? Regardless of the opinion of the romance, I think its still a great game and I am excited to see where it goes from here.
15:30 gotta love Aloy here. Aloy inner monologue: “Oh. OH! Oh shit! Oh shit! Talanah is gonna have such a smug look on her face. I’m gonna hear I told you so’s forever!”
I'm gonna be honest: I've been waiting for some kind of romance for Aloy forever. And i saw something like this coming a mile away. Was expecting it either midway through Forbidden West or to start up some time in the next game I played through Zero Dawn like eight times, and every time Vanesha or Petra started flirting with her; especially Petra; Aloy would get flustered and it was both adorable and just downright hilarious because Aloy has no idea how to react to things like that. And with how she's always moving, never taking time to actually form some kind of REAL relationship (not counting her team, they're more like a goofy disfunctional family where the pieces just kinda fell into place than anything else); having this drop on her where she's actually trying to figure out how she feels about this amazing woman she just met while trying to prep for Nemesis at the same time? Its downright adorable because she letting herself actually FEEL something other than comradarie for once and she gets so flustered while she does. Point i'm trying to make here: I don't care if people think this feels rushed or is pandering to the LGBTQ community, I'm just glad our nerdy badass red-headed huntress is finally getting the girl! ...kinda
Can we pls applaud the damn facial animation here on Aloy: 15:15 - 16:15 / especially in this scene where she is feeling all kinds of emotions. You can see it all over her face. Wow! 🤩 And Ashly Burch does such a phenomenal job portraying her. Video games have come so far I’m baffled by these cutscenes always and can’t imagine what they’ll look like in 10 yrs from now.
I wonder... is it really a facial animation like in full CGI? I'd suppose they were motion-captured, so the motion actress might have earned the credit :)
Right? It isn't just the sun and the wind that is causing her to turn so red. I don't think we've seen her blush before. It's kind of endearing, seeing her confidence shaking a bit. A Thunderjaw, no problem. Romance, and she's shaking in her boots.
@@Ryanlexzit honestly deserved to be 2023’s best game yet but elden ring was too overrated that it had to take over. Some people really don’t appreciate this game because it’s a masterpiece and also they were talking about aloy and seyka kissing
When you go back to the Base to talk to Varl at his memorial site, after Aloy met Seyka and *before' the ending of the game, she also tells Varl of Seyka. that she met a special person called Seyka with ups and downs in their relationship.
To the people complaining about Aloy being gay, word to the wise. These games are a lot like novels. Preplanned; set up for progress and character development for later plots & conflicts. Which means this was long since coming.
Sorry, all I care about is the golf club DLC. Also, I doubt the developers had full scrip like novels written out for these games beforehand. Even the director came out and said they are using roadmaps for the story, which is smart in my opinion, because when your constantly adding and cutting content the last thing you need is people waisting time writing novels of stories. Just my thoughts.
Seriously!! And like… Aloy liking girls doesn’t hurt anyone or change the story in anyway whatsoever. I totally love how they’re writing her story, for the queer community who have only ever had few good media/gaming representation it’s so nice to have a cool fierce female protagonist who also likes girls! 🥰 I’m so excited to see how they flesh out Aloy’s romance (or romances) in the future games! And show us more of her vulnerable side ❤️
I find that ppl who are strongly against this ship usually r coming from a place of having a preexisting ship, and that's okay. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and u don't have to ship Aloy w her. But calling Seyka terribly written, not deserving of Aloy, "out of the blue" is a bit extreme imo. Cos personally, as a Horizon fan who's never actually shipped Aloy w anyone before, I thought this DLC was fun and refreshing, and so was Seyka as a character. The first thing I noticed throughout the DLC was, Seyka never once called Aloy w nicknames we often heard throughout the games. It's as if, to Seyka, Aloy's not "Outcast," "Champion," "Anointed", "Living Ancestor" or "Outlander". To Seyka, Aloy's just a girl who fell from the sky. Literally. Her whole life, Aloy's been robbed of the chance to introduce herself to someone w/o any preconceived notion, but with Seyka, she finally got that chance, as Seyka never quite discovered Aloy's reputation, nor did she seem to care. I also don't get ppl who r saying that Seyka is EXACTLY like Aloy, because while playing the DLC what I found was that Seyka was a character similar enough to Aloy in that they're both outcasts of their respective tribes, never quite fitted w the rest, and it's understandable that Aloy found comfort in finally meeting someone who could understand what it's like to be cast out and not belong. BUT one thing that separates her from Aloy is, while Aloy tries her damndest to disassociate from the Nora (and she has every right to, given how they've treated her), Seyka juxtaposingly still tries her damndest to fight for the Quen despite all the rejection she's gotten, which makes Seyka reminiscent to the one person Aloy holds dear, actually: Rost. Getting to know Seyka reminds Aloy of that sense of selflessness Rost showed her, that sheer willingness to fight for the people you love without ever expecting anything in return. In the first game, Rost's insistence for Aloy to give the Nora a chance was Aloy's biggest point of contestation, one that she never quite understood let alone had any interest in "listening" to. But in HFW, after finding friends to fight for and discovering her own sense of "home", Aloy started to warm up to the idea of having her own "people." But that alone wasn't enough; meeting Seyka finally brought that arc full circle, as Seyka held onto the very same principle that Rost did. Only this time, Aloy was finally ready to "listen." Once I pieced all that together, it wasn't hard at all to understand how Aloy could fall for her. How could she not?
I was already crying all of my tears with this video but this comment was the cherry on top xD damn I didn’t even notice this “missing nickname” thing but it’s so on point! Brilliant pov :3
Such a great analysis! I love the connection back to Rost! It really makes me sad and disappointed that a lot of fans haven’t given seyka a chance because of pre-existing headcanon ships. Im very tired of the ‘bad writing’ take because it’s so clear how much thought was put into this character. And i was firmly in the no-ships boat before this dlc
I hadn’t make the “nickname” connection at all, but it makes sense. All game Aloy tries to correct everyone who calls her “outcast” or “savior” but Seyka never sees her as anything but Aloy. I see now why the devs waited until the end of the main game before making this available. Not because of Walter or Sylens, but because of Seyka. Aloy, who had resigned herself to an empty lonely future, had to create her own little family and find a sense of home and bonding before she could take that last leap that Rost wanted for her till his last breath…acceptance and love. I hope we see Seyka again. Because now Aloy is not just protecting the Earth out of some vague “Savior” obligation. But because there’s finally something…and someone…truly special waiting for her at the end of all this.
I love how the right wing are losing their collective minds over this. They’ve obviously never played the game. Representation is throughout the the franchise and treated the way it should be, normal.
It was perfect. I just finished Burning Shores, like 15 minutes ago, and after 170 hours in total, I am sad af. Can't wait for the third one and above else, to witness the relationship of Aloy and Seyka. I am extremely happy she opened her heart to it.
Anyone who though Aloy was straight wasn’t paying attention (ace/aero I understand). Anyone who thought Avad had a shot needs help. Every conversation you have with him after the first one is so uncomfortable. Which is sad cause he’s really pretty to look at and his voice is sexy, but the things he says to Aloy make me cringe.
@@ZenithofDark You aint wrong, Aloy did blush in Forbidden West when he said our special guest though, but Seyka and Aloy are too cute, it was more lime Avad kept tryna shoot his shot and it never worked lol
@@Hunterese123 I feel like Avad is in love with the idea of Aloy more than Aloy herself, but to his credit he seems aware of that and doesn’t push too hard.
Hope we get more of them in Horizon 3. They have really good banter and chemistry. And just seeing Aloy happy makes me happy. She’s one of my favorite video game characters of all time
Seyka better return in Horizon 3. I know they separated them here so they didn't have to explain why Aloy suddenly has a girlfriend to the people who didn't play the DLC, but I really hope they can continue their romance from very early in the main story, and not on some 3rd game DLC.
I don't think they separated them because some people who haven't played the dlc would get confused. Horizon 2 recapped Horizon 1 and didn't mind that Gildun was a dlc-only character (and kind of still is). Why would Horizon 3 be different. Aloy has responsibilities at base, Seyka needs to help the fleet reunite. Aloys stay in LA was always a temporary one while Seyka can't just up and leave. That meeting at the end is first and foremost about saying goodbye (for now) as neither one knows when they'll see each other again. Starting a relationship under these circumstances feels rather counter intuitive to me to be honest. Makes more sense - to me at least - to do so when Seykas half of the fleet reaches Landfall and she's got nothing more to do than join Aloys team and get to world saving.
I think it was important to Aloy’s development to have her relationship with Seyka, but I still maintain that just like before she doesn’t have time for a long-term romance. Seyka was a brilliant first crush/relationship, but realistically you don’t often stay with those types of people long
Idk why people are having an issue with Aloy showing this side of her. She's BEEN showing signs that she has a thing for women. When it comes to men, she shows uninterested besides just being friends. Although I will say this, I'm surprised that she didn't go with the people she's known longer than Seyka. Talanah would have been a good pick, but Talanah already has (or had) her love interest as shown in FW.
I disagree. Aloy has shown disinterest in anything to do with relationships in general. It's odd to romantacize Aloy in a little love sideplot when Aloy has always been about that grind. She has always put her mission above romance.
This really was the first time in long time since Aloy got to be "just... Aloy". Londra looking for romance interests among his followers is often the position Aloy is in for the main game - she's put in a celebrity/semi-deified/outcast position in almost every tribe she meets and that makes it really difficult for her to find any privacy (or be treated as an equal) to explore something very personal, complicated and sensitive like romantic feelings. I think that's why it made sense to do in a DLC - this is a separate area with no one Aloy knows, far from the main map. She also gets to control what information others know about her - she never tells Seyka about any of the heroic things she's done, or being a clone of Elisibet Sobek, and there's no way for Seyka to learn that from anyone else until she meets Alva. Here she can be "just... Aloy" and learn what it means to love without the added complication of being the saviour/chosen one.
lol I see no complains when Varl literally put a seed in Zo's mother base, how is their relationship not as "forced" as Aloy and Seyka's? And it's not even that bad. It's pretty well built up, the moment we knew that Tilda and Elizabeth were a thing, Aloy could also be into girls then come the DLC. I'm the type that doesn't like romance in games or anime and when it's there I prefer it to be a heterosexual relationship, but I don't mind this at all. They're really cute together. The homosexuality in the series has been present since Zero Dawn in side quests and in datapoints, people are just mad about the lesbian kiss 😂. One thing is for sure that Aloy has feelings for Seyka just by her monologues. no flashpoint can save deny that, but if people are just mad at the kiss you can just skip it you know. People saying their relationship is forced but in reality everything was forced into Aloy in her whole life. Forced being outcasted, Elizabeth's name, the forbidden west and literally saving the world. Now that she found something that she want, let her have it ffs. This also sets up an interesting 3rd game. Now, Aloy has to be a guardian to Zo and her baby, a sister to Beta and a lover to Seyka, while having to save the world. something Aloy never had to do before.
Also, can't people focus on character traits and stop focusing on sexuality. Lesbians and gay men exist in this world. In this game, our main badass protagonist happens to be a woman who is a lesbian. And, as a 34 year old heterosexual male, I can identify with her because of her character traits. Who she falls in love with, is none of my concern, except that I really wanted it to happen (especially when she saw Varl kissing Zo - I thought at the moment she wanted to experience something like this) - and am more than happy that it did. Tbh, Zo being pregnant felt just a little bit too forced as it was handled - story wise it would have had a lot more gravitas if this was known before they went in the Cauldron. The revelation felt a little flat but the acting sold it. Anyways, Aloy and Seyka are cuteness overload. Their dynamic was first, extremely fun, second, their relationship was built throughout the entire DLC.
Yeah I don't understand how people haven't noticed that this has been in the game from the get-go. Aside from Aloy clearly being flustered when Petra or Vanasha flirt with her, there's so much queerness in this game I don't know how it took Aloy kissing a woman for people to notice how gay this game is. And knowing Guerilla and the fact they're a Dutch company, I can guarantee that all the salty homophobes are going to influence them exactly zero. This is the story they want to tell and it is designed to appeal to a specific market
Because the romance doesnt fit the character at the moment. And no it was not well built up. For all her life she believed to rely on herself and only herself. She even tries to ditch the people she fought along with, who she spent so much time with multiple times. She does grow and learn to start trusting and relying on her close friends and allies more, but that would the BEGINNING of her full character growth. The DLC is set within a week of end of the game. A person never ever grows out of their beliefs so fast. Especially when they spent 20 years of their life in isolation and shunned. The romantic tension builds up the moment they lay eyes on each other for fucks sake which would be appropriate for a normal and at least a semi-social person. But a charcter like Aloy would never even think about romance or even friendship for that matter after just meeting a stranger. The conflict put between them for drama and bond growth was shown to be the argument about keeping secrets. But a secret about a world devouring AL from space fairs a bit different than some fucking murals drawn by ones sister showing that the sister might be in an unspecified "danger". This argument was pointless. The main game Aloy never would've pushed for an answer or argued and finished the mission like before. All in all, the "I dont have time for this" option fits better, considering that they both go through some stuff together at least. The romance plot like this would've been better in the third game where Aloy would have time to grow and socialise more and heal from her isolation mentality. PS:- But evan Alva seems more like Aloy in terms of knowledge and curiosity than Seyka. AND Alva can fight too. So the reason of "she's just like Aloy" doesnt make sense.
Well I can say is, Aloy deserves to love someone and be loved in return. Lover wise I mean. Sure she has her friends, sister and even a mother in Gaia. But as much as they mean to her, a beloved is a whole other level.
Dude, the gay panic is so real in Aloy, I just can't even-! That was a GREAT DLC, all things considered. And I honestly couldn't care less about Aloy's sexuality, she is too awesome to be contained in a single meaningless label.
FOR GODS SAKE MAKE IT OPTIONAL. I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN I WANT TO SEE THE. ACTUAL STORY OF THE GAME NOT SOME WOKE PANDERING CRINGY RELATIONSHIP THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL OVERALL STORY AAAAAAAAAA
@@I-like-cows if you don't want to play the game, there's the door. I guarantee you that the fandom will lose nothing if all you homophobes stop playing it
This was a beautiful scene. I love Seyka. She is one of my favorite characters in the series. It's sad that the DLC got some hate for this scene but this is unfortunately the time we live in right now. Hopefully one day this hate against us will stop and it won't be controversial to see gay characters anymore.
Dream on buddy. So long as its not optional and so long as its a part of the story and thus part of playing the game. You're never gonna get accepted ever. So how about you leave your fetish out of the goddammn story and just put it somewhere in a random side quest somewhere that doesn't interfere with my experience seeing the overall story of the game. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FATE OF HUMANITY NOT TO SEE SOME VIRTUAL CHICKS KISSING EACH OTHER JUST *MAKE IT OPTIONAL*
Lol I love how homophobes are using "the romance was rushed" as an excuse to hate on them. Like, have you never met lesbians before? They either hopelessly crush on each other for years or move quicker in the relationship than mayflies on a time crunch. I introduced some friends to each other and they both began crushing on each other the same day, unknowingly planned their first date the next day, made it an official first date 2 days later, and began dating and had their first kiss the day after. This was both of their first serious relationships. Tbh they moved slowly compared to the stories of other lesbians I have met. Aloy and Seyka flirted relentlessly towards each other nearly from day one, they moved at exactly the pace I'd expect lesbians to.
Something I can see happening in the third game is Aloy wanting to spend some alone time with Seyka but thinking that there is no time for that as they have to stop Nemesis. Talanah will give Aloy some advice on love (like she did in Forbidden West) and tell her that the world may or may not end but why deny herself a little bit of happiness?
That's why I love the "yes I do" option. She does not hesitate on granting her positivity related ambitions. And again why I hope it's official and Cannon.
Makes sense she's women since Elizabeth and Tilda were in a relationship, but I honestly NEVER would've expected her to actual embrace love. (Though I did silently hope she'd be ace)
How anyone would be upset at this is beyond me. That must be the most chaste kiss anyone ever gave anyone who wasn’t their mother. And Aloy is such a stiff…have you seen what she wears to sleep? Far before I thought she might be gay I found myself rooting for her to hook up with Petra, just so she could learn to unclench…
I’m glad someone making her happy and smile. Tbh I already knew she was going the lesbian route. Do I care hell naw. Some y’all mad she didn’t get with Erend ol drunk self. I wouldn’t want to date that either.
I can't stress enough how ADORABLE it is to see Aloy crushing on someone and getting so flustered around them. Made me so happy. Though if I'm being completely honest, even though I liked Seyka, I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't Talanah instead that Aloy fell in love with. Their relationship had much more build up
While it was cute seeing Aloy blush like that for once, I feel like letting her have this kind of love story in a DLC with only 6 quests came with a rushed type of writing... Seyka is basically Aloy 2.0 but less interesting storywise, but they forced you to care about her in every way possible in order to give Aloy and Seyka a love story (even if you refuse, Aloy seems to still have feelings... honestly why do they even give you this "choice between feeling or rationality" in these games if it barely changes anything at all) and I cant see this any other way than a deep friendship and respect instead of a romantic interest out of the blue Just like with Varl and Zo honestly, whose relationship also felt way too much rushed (in 2 days only they fell in love so much they had a child? Yeah sure), they wanted to squeeze in some sort of romantic story just because? It's kind of weird to say this, because overall the lore and story of Horizon felt really solid for me, while these "love stories" reaaly needed to be more fleshed out because it seems that tge writers wanted BADLY these scenarios for no real reasons than "it's emotional uwu"
I absolutely do not understand why all the man babies are so upset about this... it was literally an active choice to romance Seyka. Just as it was an active choice to be flirty (or not) towards Avad for example. Don't like it? Don't do it. Horizon has been throwing queer and queer coded characters around since the very beginning. Personally, I was not surprised that this happened. Aloy has always been queer coded, or have you not paid attention to the Talanah story arc? 😅 Anyway... go get your girl, Aloy. You deserve all the love. Kiss her until you both are kissed senseless. 🥰 I can't wait for Horizon 3, and I hope Seyka is in it, fighting alongside her people (it would be so lovely to see her with Alva, WHO IS QUEER TOO, EVERYONE !!!) and, of course, Aloy. 🥲💕
Because you can’t. It was confirmed by the writers that Aloy catches feelings for her no matter what you do. Aloy can step back if you think she isn’t completely there yet to be able to share a moment like that with someone. But there is no “don’t like it, don’t do it.” It’s done already. Just like it was confirmed that Aloy doesn’t like Avad in that way.
I actually wanted that as well. Never denied she loved or liked Seyka because she CLEARLY did. However, I am not totally a fan of Seyka as she does now. They should expand her story in Horizon 3. Has to now as Aloy loves Seyla ❤️🥰
I waited so long for a romance with Erend 😭 there could have been more than one romance option, but either way they are cute together and the kiss was beautiful
Oh, how truly enlightening it is to see people give low scores to "Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores" simply because of a lesbian kiss. I mean, who wouldn't want to completely ignore the game's amazing graphics, immersive story, and engaging gameplay just to focus on a single, brief moment of affection? Clearly, these objective critics are deeply concerned with preserving the sanctity of video games. Honestly, it's just heartwarming to see how much some folks care about two fictional characters sharing a consensual expression of love. It's as if they're on a noble crusade, saving us all from the perils of inclusivity and representation. I mean, the LGBT+ community must be thrilled to have such passionate protectors, tirelessly attacking video games in their honor. Bravo to these brave warriors, because clearly, there are no bigger issues in the world worth addressing.
all the nice graphics and gameplay are worthless, when you abuse your own franchise as a vehicle for a nasty agenda. People recognise this. Yes, the LGBT community can be proud of all the crusaders, who systematically attacked, threatened and made streamers quit because of this hogwarts game. They are real knights of the rainbow.
Homophobes aren’t even trying to be subtle anymore and it’s kinda funny 😂 I’ve never played Horizon but they got my attention with this storyline. My friend showed me two of their cutscenes and I absolutely love it; the detail in the facial expressions and body language, the voice acting, the dialogue. It’s so cute!
Devs about modern settings: gay exist IRL thus they exist in the game. Devs about post apocalyptic world where human race at the breach of extinction: let's add some gay anyway, less variety in genome is very good, people will born with more diseases and eventually extinct.
I love the idea of Aloy having romance option but tbh i would have love it in the base game. There are so many characters you can interact with and gain a connection with they should be romancable, guy or girl. I dont think it should be limited to this one DLC character
@Moon Moon I'm not asking it to be. I just like the idea of games having more players' choices on how we choose to play a game, whether it be from gameplay, dialogue choices, or romance and it all results into something different comparedto a different players ending. But in the end it is what it is
@@Oddbug_223 you are asking it to be. Horizon never had players choice. It is a linear narrative game. Aloy is her own person who players control during gameplay, but whose story we never had any hand in. Even if the romance happened in the base game, it would have been with one predetermined character, and the only "choice" you would have would likely be similar to the one here. To accept or decline the relationship. Aloy would like the person regardless of your choice, and she would not like anyone else regardless of your choice. Just because Horizon has the occasional Flashpoint events doesn't mean that players are choosing anything. All of the choices are parts of Aloy's personality. You choose which one she expresses. It doesn't set her personality any which way. So if you want a game that have player choice on dialogue, romance, story events, and to ultimately reach a different ending than another player's ending, you ARE asking Horizon to be Mass Effect. Play ME instead.
@ekaril never played mass effect, nor was I a fan of the game, but like I said in my previous reply, "it is what it is." I still love Horizon for the game it is. I only said a personal opinion on how I would like to play a game, but regardless I will still play a game I like how it is. Except for buggy unfinished games until they're playable
@@STUPIDOvizionI mean Elizabeth being gay doesn’t really overshadow her entire character. She’s still that scientist that risked her life by going outside when things were bad to save people.
My headcanon is that Aloy and Ikrie got together at the end of Horizon 1 and that the second game never happened. But this seems quite nice, as well. I've yet to get around to playing this expansion.
Bear in mind that this event is nothing to do with Aloy - it's a way for the player to express their own feelings about the relationship. No matter which of the three options you choose it won't have any impact on the next game (at least not that you'll have any control over).
I’m not sure what you are saying here, but without that choice, Aloy will always have feelings for Seyka and be interested in her in a way she isn’t with anyone else.
@@moonmoon2479 But whatever choice you make, it has no effect on the game and won't affect how the next installment plays - it's just there to allow the player to express their own view on how the relationship should be.
@@moonmoon2479 Also, look at how this scene was "implemented". Fisrt, consider Aloy's upbringing. Raised in isolation by Rost, she's had no experience of social interaction - that's clear from the scene in the Nora lodge before the proving (although again, you can pick three different options that only serve to elicit different speech from the NPC). It's only as she begins to realise exactly why she exists that she begins to rely more on others out of necessity. When we get to Forbidden West, her personality develops a lot more and she begins to show feelings towards others - it's clear she had them towards Varl as you can see it in her reaction when he kisses Zo - I think this was more Aloy reating Varl like an older brother. We then see how her bond to Beta develops once she realises that she's her sister (at least genetically). Along the way she develops friendships with other NPCs, but I always got the impression that her mission was always a barrier to them becoming anything more than platonic. Then we come to Burning Shores - a completely new character (who is definitely a lesbian) and then we get the ending. The cynic in me sees this whole "same-sex kiss" thing as a way to generate free publicity - it's not like it's the first time it's been done (Last of Us Pt 2), and there are other games where you can have same-sex romance (Fallout 4 had it years ago), so again, it's not breaking new ground and it's not like it's going to impact the next game in the franchise, so the more I look at it, the more I think it was put there for this reason (I had a strong hunch this was going to happen as soon as I saw the trailer). At the end of the day, all that matters is what the player gets takes away from it. One option makes it appears that Aloy is a lesbian - the other two are less clear cut and could be taken either way (which is how Guerrilla wanted it to be). The next game will either have to force the issue or basically ignore it - I'm just annoyed that I can'r play the game until the PC version is released.
@@Weissman111 the writers have now confirmed what this choice is. Aloy likes and has feelings for Seyka no matter the choice you make, this is just you deciding if she’s ready to take that next step or if she “isn’t quite there yet.”
Ok I gotta admit something I find it pretty hard to complain about a girl who loves a girl. It's completely off on the days love is different ways. It's such a cruel thing to say it's not worth it.
I gotta say I didn't see this coming at all. I thought for sure Aloy was gonna remain single throughout everything. It's good but if I had to choose a girl for Aloy, Talanah would've been the first pick.

Ahh my heart is soo happy!!! I’ve always felt so sad for Aloy, she’s so lonely and has been through so many hardships.. she deserves to experience this closeness and love with someone ❤ really hope their relationship is canon for the third game!!
I was really hoping for Aloy and Erend, or at least Aloy and Avad, but this, I'm definitely happy with this. I just wish they would have introduced her sooner, instead of them falling for each other so quickly. She's had longer and deeper relationships imo, but again, I'm definitely happy with this pairing! 💙💙💙

Oh, you missed a few interactions in the park, including one of my favorites after Nova dies, Seyka says she's glad she has Aloy and Aloy says, "I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be." I also recently discovered there is a fun interaction if you take too long hunting Brimshine in the first Londra base, Seyka will call out, and I don't remember the exact wording but something like: "You're a lady who likes her shiny objects I see."
Honestly, the second that Seyeka revealed her boat... My first thought was, "Oh she's not just a warrior. She's just an Asian Aloy." My second thought was, "Yeah... they're gonna kiss." Sincerely, Aloy [and Elizabet too I guess] needs someone who can keep up with her physically and intellectually. Not many people can do that.
This relationship went from 0-100 in literally no time. It felt so rushed and forced, just for the sake of making Aloy gay. Sad... Turning every character black or LGBTQ in the most non-sensical manner just to score DEI points, isn't that what the wokes LOVE to do? Having Aloy romance Talanah or even Petra would have made more sense.
I’m so happy for Aloy! I don’t know if anyone else felt this way- but it was always in the back of my mind playing the game that I hope ally finds someone. I kinda shipped her with Kotallo- but I love this romance! Hopefully we get to see more of it in horizon 3🎉
@@erinocelotl3578 identical twins, yes. Aloy is not a twin, she is a clone. An exact copy of Elizabet Sobeck. Right down to the last micron. No other DNA. I'd say she has a genetic predisposition for same sex romance. I also feel she would be emotionally confused, if she rejected such a relationship. This bond only serves to strengthen her resolve.
The romance was so horribly written in Burning Shores, and it didn't give me the option to say. "Sorry, not interested. I just want to be friends." If it just gave me that option, it would have been fine. It seriously felt like it was just thrown in for American political reasons and ruined the story for me. For example, The Last Us 2 is a great example of a lesbian romance that was well-written and not political. Maybe, it's because I have personally had that same situation happen to me twice in the last year or so, and I really don't like it. I'm bi and two of my best friends (one is gay and one is trans) and they both started wanting a romantic relationship, which I don't want right now, and it has ruined the great friendship we once had. Then, I'm playing the best game on the planet, Horizon series, and the same thing happens out of nowhere at the end of Burning shores. It ruined it for me, and I wish I had not played the DLC at all.
Notice the moth motif in Seyka's design; the wing-like cape, the hair, the antennae. Aloy is always described as having "flame hair." It's literally like a moth to a flame, God dammit. Subtext people!
As much as I'm very bisexual and love that aloy gets a love interest, I was hoping a character we already know, man or woman that she has much more chemistry with.
It just fealt so out of the blue while playing, I was hoping for an Aloy love interest, but didn't expect someone she just met. Erend, Talana, Avad, the chick in chainscrape with the ale. Lol. Buy I am glad she finally has someone
I think the whole point was that everyone she met so far were more like family and all quite different to aloy, while seyka has a similar story and attitude to aloy. I think the idea was that is caught both aloy and us as the player off guard that she started to develop feelings for seyka. I loved it and I think seyka is probably the best match for aloy, both strong fighters with amazing determination.
@Tommy it makes sense. I'm just loving the idea that Aloy opens up, but I'd be conflicted what to choose because I'm so used to her turning people away and I still see that somewhat more of her character, but yeah it was cute to see aloy finally kiss someone. She always gave me fruity vibes, but I felt like she had feelings for some men but idk.
@@oookoshka3734 I think she admired some men, but was never romantically or sexually attracted to any. If you remember throughout the game we learn that elisabet sobek was in a lesbian relationship with tilda so it makes sense that elisabets clone would also be into women.
This warms my lesbian heart! Though I'm actually bi and was totally shipping Aloy with Erend but unlike some men on the internet, I don't get pissed off when the fantasy I built up in my head isn't followed by the devs who want to do their own thing lol
Aloy is a character that i thought wouldnt find love just because of how she doesnt seem too interested in the concept at all, but im also not surprised shes lesbian. Lets face it, alot of characters have been 'interested' in aloy at some point, erend, the sun king avad etc which aloy would just brush it off as nothing. But the way she kept looking at Seyka made it obvious she loved her. I do personally think that it did escalate a bit too quickly considering shes spent less time with Seyka over other characters, but i like this alot. Also to anyone thats moaning and calling this out for being 'woke', please stop acting like a child and grow up.
To be fair, have you ever heard of "U-Haul Lesbians"? Escalating the relationship a bit to quickly is so common in lesbian relationships that its like a massive inside joke
About the last scene where Aloy kisses Seyka, I noticed that Aloy does not wear the head piece that comes with the Nora outfit. Whereas in every other scene the head piece is worn. I’m curious, did you remove the head piece manually? Or was this removed intentionally by devs just for that cutscene to allow the kiss? I am always removing the head piece from outfits when i play, as most of the times the head piece does not complement Aloy’s face very well. So i have no way of knowing during my play.
I like this story despite how some people are reacting to it. To me this doesn’t feel rushed, but rather a natural progression of Aloy’s character, which evolved majorly in the base game. At the beginning of FW, Aloy was pushing the people who cared about her away, to focus on her mission and to live up to Elisabets example, who she had put on a pedestal of sorts. You can see in the prologue where Aloy pushes Avad away when he asks if she can be with him whenever she returns. She rejects him not just because she sees him as a friend and nothing more, but because she’s telling herself she can’t let herself get distracted from saving the world. You also see her push away Erend and Varl, who each just want to help her because they care about her. And in the story of FW, Aloy realizes she doesn’t need to do things alone, that there is strength in allowing others to help you. She also realizes that despite her and Beta’s relation to Elisabet and each other, they are all fundamentally different people and her and Beta don’t have to be the exact same person as Elisabet, as she had her own personal struggles and wasn’t perfect. Despite how much people respected and cared about Elisabet, she was a very lonely and distant, even when she was in a relationship with Tilda. So when Aloy finally decides to be not the next Elisabet but just herself, this relationship with Seyka is a result of that decision, to be close to someone romantically. So I actually support this romance not just because I want Aloy to have someone in her life, but because it thematically fits with Aloy’s character progression.
Mass Effect, Fallout 4. Dragon Age just a few. Whenever I play a female character w/romance options she is a 1000% Lesbian. It is what it is. They should have hooked her up with Talanah or Petra.
Thats cool but those games give your own choice if the MC wants to be straight or gay, forbidden west should have done similarly not force one side towards the public
@@kalliskivikeno it shouldn’t have. It doesn’t need to cater to your hurt feelings. The devs have the story they want to tell, and they are telling it. They aren’t going to do options. They have shown time and time again they don’t really care about people that get angry that they didn’t get what they wanted
I may lost my connection with Aloy, but the gameplay and its story are amazing. Whats gonna make this better is if Nemesis does indeed have a humanoid form like the theories are saying.
I never expected aloy to end up getting in a relationship, I thought her and erend MAYBE but I doubted that. I probably would have preferred her to just not have a love and that's that, just living on. but I'm fine with this too they are a nice couple
I don't think we've seen many smiles from Aloy like the ones Seyka brings out of her. So nice to see her finally be happy and let someone else in.
P55 is becoming woke
Maybe because she’s never had time to find love nobodies ever liked her cuz “outcast “

Without a doubt, Aloy deserves all the happiness in the world. It would be very sad for her to end up alone like Elisabeth
Aloy will never end up like Sobeck. Like she said to Tilda she is with people who ask what she wants
Who's elizabeth?
In my headcanon she's aro.
SHe's more stunted than anything, but the MOMENT Tilda mentioned her and Elisabet were a thing I knew it was only time.

I would love to see that in the next game.
What a forced trash this game turned out
I'm gonna be honest: I've been waiting for some kind of romance for Aloy forever. And i saw something like this coming a mile away. Was expecting it either midway through Forbidden West or to start up some time in the next game
I played through Zero Dawn like eight times, and every time Vanesha or Petra started flirting with her; especially Petra; Aloy would get flustered and it was both adorable and just downright hilarious because Aloy has no idea how to react to things like that.
Point i'm trying to make here: I don't care if people think this feels rushed or is pandering to the LGBTQ community, I'm just glad our nerdy badass red-headed huntress is finally getting the girl! ...kinda

At least you can reject her. I would enjoy rejecting her every time.
Thank you! Totally agree!
Aloy's reaction after Seyka kisses her - that genuine happiness that true love conjures - just melts my goddamn heart.

It's wild people are surprised, this was foreshadowed with Elisabet

And show us more of her vulnerable side ❤️
@@jordanweinberg4579 No it wasn’t!
But in HFW, after finding friends to fight for and discovering her own sense of "home", Aloy started to warm up to the idea of having her own "people."
But that alone wasn't enough; meeting Seyka finally brought that arc full circle, as Seyka held onto the very same principle that Rost did. Only this time, Aloy was finally ready to "listen."
Once I pieced all that together, it wasn't hard at all to understand how Aloy could fall for her. How could she not?
Well said! 👏
Goated comment 🔥🔥🔥🐐
Couldn't have said it better :)

Completely agree on this
Seyka better return in Horizon 3.
Seyka was a brilliant first crush/relationship, but realistically you don’t often stay with those types of people long
I really hope they dont, but they’ll probably ruin it more than they already have
Idk why people are having an issue with Aloy showing this side of her.
Aloy has shown 0 interest in women
I disagree. Aloy has shown disinterest in anything to do with relationships in general. It's odd to romantacize Aloy in a little love sideplot when Aloy has always been about that grind. She has always put her mission above romance.
No one cares about this forced trash
She hasn’t shown interest in anyone
Forced gay romance to fill the woke box. This is what it is. Why im not surprised. At least you can reject her .
Aloy" and learn what it means to love without the added complication of being the saviour/chosen one.
exactly
This is very true. I think this is the issue that Sobeck had with Tildi as well. Aloy is human but most people treat her as a goddess
She acts nothing like herself in this game, she acts completely alien from the first gams
OMG this cured any depression left in my body
lol I see no complains when Varl literally put a seed in Zo's mother base, how is their relationship not as "forced" as Aloy and Seyka's?
@@Lasurius "And Bi too" the famous phrase
Well I can say is, Aloy deserves to love someone and be loved in return. Lover wise I mean. Sure she has her friends, sister and even a mother in Gaia. But as much as they mean to her, a beloved is a whole other level.
Dude, the gay panic is so real in Aloy, I just can't even-! That was a GREAT DLC, all things considered. And I honestly couldn't care less about Aloy's sexuality, she is too awesome to be contained in a single meaningless label.
Also you get to choose which way to go so it's totally unnesscary to complain about it.
Nice joke scores on metacritic shows normal humans are tired of this forced trash what a way to ruin a great series
@@dienadinewhat to be fair, writers confirmed you can’t actually choose. Aloy likes Seyka, no matter the choice.
I mean if Aloy was going to finally fall in love with someone, it would be the girl that reminded her most of herself.
which was who exactly?
you mean alva? she has someone back home already
It’s something that I think would work, because if this happened, it works no matter the decision you made.
This was soul healing. Seyloy FTW!
I dunno how to feel about that combo, but the names are not the best fit for mixing together lol. I guess it beats “Aleyka”.
Their relationship had much more build up
I feel like a proud mom watching Aloy find love
While it was cute seeing Aloy blush like that for once, I feel like letting her have this kind of love story in a DLC with only 6 quests came with a rushed type of writing... Seyka is basically Aloy 2.0 but less interesting storywise, but they forced you to care about her in every way possible in order to give Aloy and Seyka a love story (even if you refuse, Aloy seems to still have feelings... honestly why do they even give you this "choice between feeling or rationality" in these games if it barely changes anything at all) and I cant see this any other way than a deep friendship and respect instead of a romantic interest out of the blue
Just like with Varl and Zo honestly, whose relationship also felt way too much rushed (in 2 days only they fell in love so much they had a child? Yeah sure), they wanted to squeeze in some sort of romantic story just because? It's kind of weird to say this, because overall the lore and story of Horizon felt really solid for me, while these "love stories" reaaly needed to be more fleshed out because it seems that tge writers wanted BADLY these scenarios for no real reasons than "it's emotional uwu"
Thank you
I absolutely do not understand why all the man babies are so upset about this... it was literally an active choice to romance Seyka.
Anyway... go get your girl, Aloy. You deserve all the love. Kiss her until you both are kissed senseless. 🥰
I can't wait for Horizon 3, and I hope Seyka is in it, fighting alongside her people (it would be so lovely to see her with Alva, WHO IS QUEER TOO, EVERYONE !!!) and, of course, Aloy.

I love the idea of Aloy having romance option but tbh i would have love it in the base game. There are so many characters you can interact with and gain a connection with they should be romancable, guy or girl. I dont think it should be limited to this one DLC character
This isn’t mass effect. It doesn’t work like that.
@@Oddbug_223 you do not understand where player choice is appropriate and where it isn’t. Aloy is a character you do not define.

Thank you for this amazing video ❤
This is very reavealing: ruclips.net/video/nCzm2w0FPlw/видео.html
@@Weissman111 the writers have now confirmed what this choice is. Aloy likes and has feelings for Seyka no matter the choice you make, this is just you deciding if she’s ready to take that next step or if she “isn’t quite there yet.”

She's just an Asian Aloy."
My second thought was, "Yeah... they're gonna kiss."

I could care less if Aloy was lesbian. I found the interaction; the development and unknown future for them can be a major part of Horizon 3.
The facial captures in those games are getting SO bloody good...
I’m so happy for Aloy! I don’t know if anyone else felt this way- but it was always in the back of my mind playing the game that I hope ally finds someone. I kinda shipped her with Kotallo- but I love this romance! Hopefully we get to see more of it in horizon 3🎉
After Forbidden West, it was clear Aloy is gay. She is an exact clone of Elisabeth, who was also gay.
She could be bi or pan, but there’s plenty of evidence that sexuality is not as simple as the genetic.
@@NcxX-c8f Are you sure about that?
My exact thought
@@pozytywnawibracja17 it's how it works, identical twins can have different sexualities. It's more than just simply genetics
Barf a rainbow....

Notice the moth motif in Seyka's design; the wing-like cape, the hair, the antennae. Aloy is always described as having "flame hair." It's literally like a moth to a flame, God dammit. Subtext people!
Absolutely loved this! Seyka is great and Aloy deserves happiness.
How about her relationship with Erend then?

As much as I'm very bisexual and love that aloy gets a love interest, I was hoping a character we already know, man or woman that she has much more chemistry with.
Same, same, same, same, same, and same here!
Never thought a game would make me feel so much.
