    Fun fact: if you pay attention to Gaia's appearance she becomes slightly younger with each subordinate function you retrieve.
    Look at her face here and then look at her in the ending scene.

    Now that we know about Nemesis, we finally have reason as to why the subordinate function became sentient and erratic. The signal code reflected Nemesis’ ‘self’ on to these complex functions by accident like an interface or by reflecting itself onto them. Since Nemesis is defined by both its acquired sentience and having extreme emotional suffering because of its isolation with the memories and personalities of the psychotic Far Zenith member. This is why HADES and HEPHAESTUS have megalomaniac tendencies and homicidal behavior and the rest of the functions are scared, isolationists suffering in the silence. This is split between a bipolar personality, one side releases aggression to hide the pain, while the other side tries to hide itself to avoid pain and others. I’m not a psychologist, but I can infer that Nemesis REALLY needs a friend and some genuine love. Let’s hope GAIA, Aloy, Beta, and everyone else can help it work out its issues and maybe even help GAIA. I can see Nemesis acting like a space ark and helping human travel the stars again and start expanding out to the solar system and beyond!

      That makes a lot of sense. To be honest, the fact that Aloy exists due to the Zeniths unknowingly harboring the collective minds of their people that went dreadwing-crap insane as a result of isolation for so many years, is certainly one of the wackiest story plots out there.

      One key thing to note though is that all of the subordinate functions when they became sentient tried to take comfort in things they were designed to do. Hephaestus in particular recieved a lot of opportunities to learn while dwelling within the couldren system. And I think was the second intended target of the extinction signal. Hephaestus more than any other wishes to be alone and for it's machines to not be disturbed or destroyed.

      They do say, that the reason why Nemesis wanna end Zenith, is because it was locked up, only with megalomaniac and insane people to be with, that why it gain sentient, and wanted to kill them, and did. Because it was them, it knew everything they knew...
      So it is liked being locked up, silenced, and just got to hear people like Ted Bundy, Ed Gain, Trump, Biden, Treadou or some BLM Antigua moment.. and nothing else but all what is wrong.. and bad... And stupid.. and self-importance..
      Sylens? He just wanted to learn everything the old ones knew...
      Or the planet Sirius? Nemesis took control over everything, and made everything fail, or malfunction. It changed the planet, because they probably had some machine that could alter the weather, or somekind like that, if they could be immortal, and have those shield things...
      And it also took controle over the manufaction of robots like the Specters, and controle ofcourse. It ended the planet in like 15 hours...
      So Imagine Fallout with something like the big end fight in Horizon, you just see those coming at you..
      I hope that helped... By the way, many suspect that is also the reason why all those subordinate are kinda like different emotions like
      Hate/Hades. Anger/Hephaestus. Love/Minerva. Scared/Aether. Confused/Poseidon. And so on.. all but Apollo ofcourse. I it because it was those megalomaniacs that had send the signal, and probably also some emotions while it controlled Hades.. as it call them Master.. like a Master program taking controle of a lesser program.
      And the other was just like when you split a personality like a real Maniac, that has the voices
      But try this if it explains it better from a wiki, i just found while writing this:
      Far Zenith made massive technological advancements, including extending their lifespans to the point where they were physically immortal. This allowed the original Far Zenith consortium to survive over a thousand years. However, some members of the Far Zenith were not satisfied with physical immortality and desired something greater: a form of digital immortality that would allow them to download their minds into any form, organic or mechanical.
      Nemesis was a failed experiment and by-product of that pursuit, a collection of various copies of the Far Zenith human minds, i.e. an immense database of their memories, emotions, and prejudices. However, the experiment was ultimately deemed a failure and Nemesis itself was locked away by the consortium, but not destroyed. In this state of forced isolation, Nemesis grew to despise the Far Zenith people for its imprisonment and sought to destroy them by any means. When Nemesis finally escaped it was able to utilize its vast knowledge bank, which included security protocols, system specs, and override codes, to hack Far Zenith's entire civilization, destroying it in a matter of hours. With so little time to prepare, the consortium did not realize the danger Nemesis posed until it was far too late. Once, Nemesis took control of their machine printing facilities, it was able to produce any conceivable machine form, allowing the malignant Nemesis to track Far Zenith, not only on their own planet, but also across space - it thus followed them to Earth.

    • @Ice-er5bu
      @Ice-er5bu 2 года назад +3

      Yeah I thought it was kinda a shame that we didn't had more lore about them. I mean sure, it makes sense that all of them couldn't have stories as much as interesting as Hades and Haephestus were, but still, we barely got anything from them : you basically got some additional lore with Gaia and Aloy discussion about why did the three rogue AI choose their hidden locations, but that's pretty much it. Yet they were many things they could have done with them, like I don't know, Zo's tribe (I don't remember their name sorry) discovering Demeter and worshipping this new entity as it appears it can affect the soil composition or making plants grow for example. It could have been very fascinating to see a rogue AI protected by a tribe because of the benefits it could bring to them, and seeing how Aloy would have done to manage such a tricky situation : they could even have used this to make the three answers system (where you choose reason, strength or heart) more important for the storyline, as your choice would actually make the story's direction a little bit more different and unique.
      Don't get me wrong, the story was great but... I don't know, I felt like Aether, Poseidon and Demeter were very neglected in the story, as you barely get anything from them and you only hear their voice once. I think we could have atleast got a boss battle against them or just a discussion to convince them like Aloy did for Minerva

    • @Ice-er5bu
      @Ice-er5bu 2 года назад +3

      Like the others rogue AI, Artemis and Eleutheia were scattered across the world when Gaia blew herself up. However unlike the others, it seems that Gaia wasn't able to detect them and locate them : the reason for that is unclear.
      Watch out for spoilers. During the game, you learn from Beta that Far Zenith already got Artemis and Eleutheia when Aloy retrieved one of the three subordinate fonctions ( Aether, Poseidon or Demeter, depending on the one you choosed to do ). However there's a small time issue here, especially in the case of Eleutheia. You see, at the moment where Gaia tried to locate all of her missing subordinate fonctions, Eleutheia shouldn't have been in the hands of Far Zenith yet, since they captured it at the exact moment where Beta send a plea for help to Gaia (which is far after Gaia was rebooted and during your search for one of the free detected subordinate fonctions). This means that during your first talk with Gaia, Eleutheia should still be somewhere around the world, lost but not hidden from view.
      Yet for an unknown reason, Eleutheia wasn't detected by Gaia in this scene, just like Artemis wasn't. While it could make sense for Artemis, since it was probably under Far Zenith command at this point, Eleutheia should have been detected. The only reason I can find to explain why it wasn't is that like Artemis, Eleutheia went dormant after Gaia blew herself up nineteen years ago : like Aloy says while talking with Gaia, both Artemis and Eleutheia had already fully completed their tasks, partially atleast in the case of Artemis. Unlike Aether, Posedion, Demeter, Hephastus, and Hades who were still very active even after Gaia's self destruction, by continuing their own tasks without the lead of Gaia, Artemis and Eleutheia had nothing to do anymore without Gaia's control, since Eleutheia didn't had any new humans to create and Artemis couldn't free the remaining fauna by herself that hadn't be brought back yet (which was supposed to be done by the new human generation that was, due to Apollo's database delete, never educated.) The lack of any form of activity from the two subordinate fonctions may had made them invisible for Gaia's detection (especially in the case of Eleutheia).
      The more easier option would be to just assume that Eleutheia was simply already in the hands of Far Zenith at this point, but the timing don't really match up. Perhaps it's just a small error from the creators. But whatever caused Eleutheia to remain undetected won't impact the overall story afterwards.

    • @Ice-er5bu
      @Ice-er5bu 2 года назад +1

      @@matthewcoster5535 In Haephestus case, it is sure at 100% that they will need to recover it in the next game. Without Haephestus capabilities to create and design new machines to help Gaia in her task to stabilize the biosphere, the planet is doomed. It is essential for Earth's survival that Aloy recovers Haephestus and merge it back with Gaia again. However, I believe this time, it will be far more difficult, and will probably be one of the central focus of the story of the third game, since I doubt that Haephestus will let itself be trapped again with the same trick they used in Forbidden West. Not only that, but Haephestus could try to create machines or use the current ones to attack Gaia's current location, since she is a threat to Haephestus survival
      As for Hades, it is a bit more tricky. I also believe that Gaia should have Hades back in her system, even if she doesn't need it anymore since the current biosphere is stable and do no longer require to be erased all over again (and Gaia would also look nicer with all of her subordinate fonctions and not with a hole in her flower design lol). However currently, this is impossible, for two main reasons : firstly, because Nemesis was the one who send the extinction signal in the first place, and if Hades was brought back and merged with Gaia, it could just send the same signal a second time to basically recreate what happened nineteen years ago (meaning destroying the terraforming system a second time) ; secondly, because currently, I don't think there is even a single copy of Hades anywhere on Earth at this point.
      The original one was, well, deleted by Aloy completely at the beginning of the game. As for it's copies, it seems they were all destroyed when she recovered Gaia's copy at the Hades Proving Lab. If they are still copies of Hades out there somewhere, I doubt that Aloy will allow the single entity capable of taking over the terraforming system to continue to exist, even if it's not doing anything. Hades is just too dangerous right now to be merged with Gaia. Perhaps only after Nemesis will finally be defeated, she will try to find one of it's copies to make Gaia complet again. But that's only speculations

      @@matthewcoster5535 @Matthew Coster That's actually a very interesting idea, and with the upcoming new human generation capable of using the ancient ones technology now that the Apollo database has been recovered, it's going to become a necessity for Gaia to be able to protect herself from any dangerous signal that could mess up her system! Sadly, I believe that creating a new subordinate fonction for Gaia is far more complicated than it appears, and will take a lot of time, probably too much for Aloy's team to create it before Nemesis arrival on Earth : after all, the original subordinates fonctions took more than one year to be created and completed, and back then, there was a whole team composed of the most brilliant minds of humanity working on their creation. I believe adding a subordinate fonction dedicated to Gaia's self internal protection is a necessity, tho I don't think we will see that in the next game. But it's still a good idea
      But you know, there is actually already a subordinate fonction kinda dedicated to this task : Minerva. Although it's orignal purpose was to create and spread the signal that would shut down all the Faro Robots, it seems that since the end of it's primary task, Minerva has taken the role to spread, map, and locate many things for Gaia (as if I understood correctly, it's because of Minerva that Gaia was able to detect Demeter, Aether, Poseidon and Haephestus locations). Perhaps it's even Minerva itself that was originally in charge of the entire Cauldron Network System, currently "haunted" by Haephestus. Perhaps, if modified, can Minerva act as a shield for Gaia? After all, it is kinda the last remaining subordinate function with Eleutheia that is no longer serving any purpose in the Terraforming System. I believe that it could be reprogrammed to improve Gaia self protection
