- In November 1984 Sikhs were subjected to genocidal massacres throughout the Indian subcontinent. Bokaro was one of the worst hit areas where Sikh families were brutally targeted with genocidal violence. About a hundred Sikhs were killed in Bokaro in initial days of the month of November in 1984.
Bibi Paramjit Kaur and her family was also living in Bokaro at that time. She lost five family members- her mother, father, two bothers and a bother in law (husband of her elder sister) in the 1984 Sikh genocide. She and her three sisters somehow survived along with two daughters of her sister. All male members of her family were killed in this massacre.
Bibi Paramjit Kaur and her sisters were permanently displaced from Bokaro after the genocide. She now lives in Jamshedpur.
In this talk with the Sikh Siyasat, Bibi Paramjit Kaur recollected the painful memories the genocide. She remembered that how her mother, father and brothers laid their lives to protect their (her and her sisters') honour. She fell into tears while remembering that how her younger brother, who was a master of nun-chalku fought till his last breath to protect his family and he was brutally injured but alive till evening but she and her sisters were not able to give him water when he asked for it while breathing his last breath.
She said that some of the attackers were known to their family. Her sister had some of the identified the killers in police identification parade but none of the culprits were punished.
She said that the memories of the genocide are engraved in her memories and 1984 Sikh genocide can not be forgotten. Even the generations to come should also remember the 1984 Sikh genocide so as to prevent such bloody episodes in future, she said.

Here after watching Grahan . I am 20 year old bokaro resident and just imaging what happened then in sector 9 gives me chills and scares me . Just imagining anything like this happening in such a peaceful calm and lovely city was beyond my belief. But i hope justice prevails and congress leaders of that time gets what it deserves for doing all of this instead of what glamorous lives they are enjoying now.

जिन्होंने 1984 के कत्लेआम किया है वो आज भी खुला घूम रहे है,, मे हिंदू हूं पर मैं कहता हूं,,,,,never forget 1984

I am from Bokaro and this is so shameful for us. I have studied in Shri Guru Gobind Singh public school and I was 1 yr old when this happened. My.parents talked about t the horrors of the riots.
Be it Sikhs or Hindus , Canada or Bokaro, please dont to this to each other. All of the survivors of such heinous take it to their respective funeral pyres.

It’s so painful to watch. I was so little that time. If it was me or had my family got killed by some assholes, I was going to become a Khalistani too.
