Wes nerds online say the actual date and personnel are as follows: Recorded in The Netherlands (Hilversum) on April 2, 1965. Wes Montgomery - guitar Clark Terry - trumpet Pim Jacobs - piano Ruud Jacobs - bass Han Bennink - drums One of these folks said of the above personnel: "I compared the recordings of the album Straight, No Chaser with the recordings of VARA Radio - 1965 (label VARA Jazz, 8219) and they are the same except for the order of the tracks, the (wrong) title Wes Got Rhythm (Rhythm-a-ning) and the (lacking of the) extra track The Theme. The playing is the same, so the personnel is also." The CD issues of this performance list the rhythm section that joined Wes in Paris during the same tour (Harold Mabern (p), Arthur Harper (b), Jimmy Lovelace (dr).)
The only guitarist I never get tired of. Humble and nice person to boot. I remember where I was standing upon hearing the news of his passing. It numbed me! Sorry Clark but I wish you would have played hookie during this.
Thanks for pointing out that VERY IMPORTANT fact. I read once where he also was constipated for 3 days! Imagine being that brilliant considering he wasn't able to use the toilet for 3 days.
Clark Terry and Wes were - riding high - during those exiting years. Saw Clark just over 10 years later live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, with Griffin, Basie, NHØP and a firing Milt Jackson. There’s only one Wes and he’s sorely missed. Great upload. G’day & Cheers!
Brilliant line up, great music to outlive decades and decades of years to come. The tune that brings the sense of serenity and hope to your soul. Thanks for the upload, cheers!
Hi mistermister. I miss 1 jazz album that you upload in the old days. Could you tell me name album that when you before leave, remove on your youtube channel? (Likely sleepy jazz and image of red, black color, 3 musician..). Thank you so much.
From the internet: "straight, no chaser." (bartending) An alcoholic drink served in its pure form, without anything mixed in, and not followed by a non-alcoholic drink.
Indeed, Straight, no chaser refers to ordering a main drink without accompanying soft. However, in the title the comma is put after the "no". So I wonder if there is some kind of pun or word-play here... Straight no, chaser... maybe it's still about cocktails, but the other way round: no alcohol, only soft? maybe it's about getting rejected? maybe it's only a typo? What do you think?

That’s right.
In a mellowtone - possibly the sweetest solo Wes has ever played, all 3min 45secs. Absolutely fabulous.

"never get tired of" - those words describe the indescribable
Many try to copy Wes but Boss Guitar was it with Jimmy, Mel and Wes.

Self taught couldn’t read music, never the less was brilliant.
Don't have to read it when you can just hear it and create it yourself. LOL!

Early in the mornings after his night work was over and quincy
Was on his way to school.

Great sound quality , thank God , makes this timeless .
Masterful Clark Terry.
The true master of the chord solo among other things Bravo!!!!
Great
Drums - Jimmy Lovelace 特に彼を聞くと、ビリー・ヒギンズが、なぜあんなに持て囃されたのか不思議。人付き合いや面倒見の良さとか。
Thank you mister
こちらのアルバムも良いですね🎸
有難う御座いました☝️

Great album. Is this album commercially available?
Wes my fave but that bassist can also solo!
Anybody on stage with Wes was gonna be world class. His stuff with Wynton Kelly is absolutely mind boggling.

👍👍👍👍👍
Jazz con mayúsculas
Less is More , One of the Softest Playing Styles Ever
But So Melodic
Unlike many others who hit too many meaningless passing notes, Wes hit only choice notes.
🌸😀🌱💙

Music great, constant commercials ruin the music- no thanks.
«straight no. chaser» - what does that even mean?

What do you think?
I gave it some thought during the weekend. Wes Montgomery did not drink alcohol... this is why he is saying 'straight no' to booze...
