That was my mistake when I bought my first budgie. I was given advice to leave them alone for the first two weeks. So I did nothing with her those two weeks except talk to her. It’s been 6 months and she is still terrified of me! I bought another budgie and she is more brave and open and actually perches on my finger but the other one is now teaching her to be afraid of me :(
I thought she would learn by watching the other one, no she’s still terrified. My first one, her wings have now grown back which I don’t mind but I was told to clip her wings again and to try taming again with clipped wings. I don’t want to lose her trust by clipping her wings 😕

I’m currently in your exact situation and I’m having a hard time because the second one distracts the first one whenever I try to get it out the cage. I can feed the first one millet and sometimes get it to perch on my finger but then the other starts chirping and it’ll jump off
i can so so relate! my budgie was tamed and everything, then when I went back to school I thought he was lonely. So I bought him a little friend, now their both scared of me :c
Im in this exact situation, I left my first bird in the cage for about the same amount of time and he is terrified. I got him a companion and this one I left them for 1 day and now they perch on my finger and come out. Do you have any updates??

I’m so excited for this day to come… I was so happy and felt like we had a break through with trust yesterday and today (today is his 3rd day home) because he is making happy sounds, bobbing his head and looking at me when I sing to him lol. He isn’t afraid when I enter his cage to clean or replace his water. I’d love to try the perch thing, just worried I will break the trust I’ve earned so far.
My budgie Luna is stubborn but I am starting to learn what she's trying to tell me through her body language and different sounds. She'll eat millet while I am holding it but she's still scared of my hand and being on my hand. She got on my finger twice and I was so happy. I've had her for about a week and 2 days. I think she's a little over 6 months old. I am trying my best to gain her trust and bond with her, but I went to fast and we both freaked out a couple times so now I am trying to go slow. I have her cage in my room and I talk to her multiple times a day. Even tho I've only had her for such a short time I am pretty sure she's trying to talk/mimic things I've said. Last night I swear I heard her say pretty bird. I love her so much and I am really trying my best to gain her trust so she can fly around outside of her cage. Baby steps. The hardest thing for me is knowing what the next step is and how to do it correctly without stressing her out.

My budgie “sky”, she gets on my shoulder all the time even when the perch she on isn’t even near my shoulder but will try to fly there.

Hey-your technique of using the Dow of taking my bird out! I just want to thank you. My bird is flighted. She flew out of her cage. She is NOT TAMED AT ALL. I did NOT WANT to traumatize her or lose her trust more by catching her with a glove on my hand so I used the Dow to have her step on and put her back in-IT WORKED!!! She’s comfortable with it

I have the same case but after a lot of time talking to them softly and feeding them some millet they like me a lot more so it's really just about time and patience , good luck!
Ive had one for a year now and she has come out on her own but not with me on my hand. She's my most scared budgie so it has been a long year of taming and training just in the cage. But I'm so glad you did this video

I actually got my budgie Picasso to step up on a perch, spoon, and my finger on the first day. I've had him for a few months now but he won't come out and I've literally tried everything! Do you have any tips?
i can relate! my male budgie (jack) was cool with stepping on my finger and letting me pet him. i put him in with my female and now he doesn't like me touching him. I have them in the same room where i work all day and talk to them frequently. i do not chase them around or stress them out.

does anyone have any tips on how i can get my budgie in my finger without any food? they willingly go on my hand/fingers if i have food,but if i just put my hand or finger in their cage without any food they will move away or just do nothing and aren’t interested,only way is with food 😕
Hi I am own two budgies and I have tried taking them out of there cage with my finger and she did it but then she looked around and started crashing I am so sad but she is fine so that is great do you think if I did this she wouldn’t crash pls help I desperately need help

I got three birds in June from Petco and on the second day they jumped out of the cage and it took us an hour to get them out of the cage

The best advice you can give with these birds is to interact with them as much as possible. Yes they will be afraid of you the first day. Give them just 1 single day to relax from the petstore. After that just start trying to give them treats, show them your hand. Try to get them to perch. If they fly out then let them walk around. You'll get them to perch up very quickly. After doing this for 2-3 days they are used to the fact that you aren't going to harm them. At that point the real training begins and the trust develops. Several birds I started with used to behave this way and now they are all free to fly in my house and come to me on command. The more you're afraid and insecure, they will feel that energy!
my little bobby wont even sit on the dowling for more than a few seconds,ive tried rewarding him with millet he wont take it, he has gone backwards since i got him, he would at one time let you touch his chest and come on your finger , i even remove his mirror, still wont come out, thank god hes not like my other budgie i once had who would bite and attack you for putting your finger on his palace , although he would come and cuddle me, Bobby does chat away happily to me and his mirror and he loves music, so hes not sad, i dont know what im doing wrong, i even remove the dog incase he does come out

Its been a month and my budgie still wont come out of his cage by himself. I cam only get him out through the top. If i try to get him out through the front he will just fly back to his cage and once hes out he quickly flys back inside
Go see my how to get your budgie to like millet and read the blog I mention that's what changed my budgie!
No use a treat they like. mine are a year and a half but still dont like coming out it takes time
any advice for taming two budgies?
It’s harder to tame two budgies because they will always interact with each other. But if you want to tame two budgies, work with the budgie that interacts the most with you and the other will learn by observation.
@@manny291 hi my green bird is a lot friendlier and perchs in my hand then i put my finger next to my blue bird and he bites me. Its been going on for 2 weeks now
How I take my budgie out is I have 2 budgies one is fine with being out and doesn’t get scared and other goes crazy and scared So my cage can open up on the top so I will just open that and sit down or do something to make him less scared and i let him make his way up and he will and I am thinking eventually I can try to get him on a perch or my finger I hope he will be fine with that!
The pet store I got my budgie from the clipped the wings so he can’t fly yet 😢
Update he can fly now and I got him a friend and they’re both tame 😁

I got a question, so if I let my bird out the cage, he won't begin flying crazily everywhere right? Cause I don't want them to get hurt, but I also want them to have fun and get exercise out of the cage!
No actually id guess they wouldn't. My budgies dont, but there is one he constantly bumps into walls while flying, but no they don't fly around crazily
It depends if you have a new budgie they would probably just sit in the cage and not come out. But, if they do come out they won't go crazy as they are quite calm creatures
I let mine out for the first time and yes, they did fly around wildly for a couple of minutes and banged into stuff a little bit until they learned their way around the room ..now they just fly around and perch on things. I was nervous at first but it’s getting easier. Just have to relax and not scare them.
what should i do if my budgie doesnt want to get onto the perch willingly ?
You should give them some time to get used to the perch. Don't give up! And don't force him/her. Do it everyday and they will eventually get used to it and get on it.

Hello everyone, good day/morning/night please can anyone help me? i have 2 budgies that are brand new bought, i do not have any millet spray in the place that i live (sadly :( ) what can i use to tame / gain their trust instead?

I have 2 fully flighted budgies. They both are tamed and will step up when I put my finger out. When I take them out of the cage on my hand they fly away and hit the walls and freeze on the top of the window. I leave them alone for while but they do nothing. I offer them millet but they don't accept it outside. What can I do without clipping their wings?

I have this problem. I got 2 budgies in march 2021. They trust me a lot now they will come to me if I put my hand near them. They will eat out of my hand and one of them will fly to my hand If I Have millet ( This is the present they didn't do this in the past.). I've trained her already to come to me without millet and I reward her later. So the problem is Taking them out of the cage. After 2 months of getting them I decided to take one of them out. When bringing her out she jumped out to the ground and started calling for her friend. Her friend was very scared and was calling for her. I put the cage down and she jumped back into it. That was 5 months ago though. I know the problem is that they are attached to each other and want to be together. They will reject food outside of the cage if they are seperate. If they are together and outside of the cage they will eat. Before their wings were clipped but now they are fully grown and they can fly. They trust me way more now. They are afraid of everyone but me so i cant get anyone elses help. So I need advice on what to do now. I don't want them being in their cage forever. Any Help?

I usually use my finger so when I tried using the dowl to actually get one of them out of the cage, I think it mightve made them mad because now they won't accept the treats I try to give them :(
Ok so I got him out but I have no idea how to get him back in without grabbing him and I don’t want to do that. I’ve been working on building up trust for weeks and I’d hate to ruin that. He gives me kisses and isn’t afraid of my face but is still weary of my hands when I offer him a finger to perch on.
Im sad that my budgie can’t fly and he don’t know, his last owner cut him the feathers of the wing very bad and I think he still thinking he can fly :(
I have one question. My house is kinda open, there are many places for it to escape. The doors have gaps and stuff. In short, there is no way I can guarantee that my bird will not escape from the room. But I want then out of their cage to get exercise. Is there any way to solve the problem? I've had them for only 1 day now. I'll probably try to tame them but still escaping is one of the problems. I don't want them lose. It's a single pair.
You should try blocking the spaces with some clothes or blankets and secure stuff you don't want them to get. You should always supervise them and take care of them when they are outside their cage
