That's a pretty slick tool. If you work on appliances that tool would be so very handy. Glue some felt to the piece of angle iron and you wouldn't scratch anything. Subscribing now 😀
If you take it apart and you heat it up super hot and melt it all together, it will make an even more useful paperweight.
i think this is a great idea older people could use this
I've scaled this up for work to move IBC's apart so I can get in and check them.....works a treat thanks for the idea
It will make trillions.! I stumbled upon these invention videos. I hope if I watch anymore that they’re useful.
..... remember people, what's useless to one person is a godsend to another ;-)
that was a cool welding tool he was using, welds without welding sticks? i don't know any thing about welding but that seemed like something a diy'er like me should have.
4 minutes I'll never get back.
Henry Grimm my thoughts exactly
Thank you for saving me the 4 min
i was waiting for the genius part, but was shown welding and lifting for the mentally disabled.

Why so many bad comments? It did it’s job, and I think it actually could be a pretty handy tool. Would I make it for a one time use, heck no but I could see it being very useful when moving stuff around a lot. Even more useful if it could be built in a bigger size. And it doesn’t take much to build.
This channel: I have not seen another RUclips channel that is as proud of accomplishing nearly nothing as this one.
I do the same thing with my hand dolly and can use it for a bunch of other things too, but Hey some guys just need something to do in their spare time I guess.
I can see something like this being useful for pulling larger objects if sized up. Might make a variant of sorts with my powerarc.
If I made this tool, I would be sure to put it up in a good place so I would know where it was when I needed it! When I need the tool I would have forgot where I put it, as most all other tools!
Thus is excellent and exactly what I need! Thank you!
Some guys are welders, other guys are grinders. You are most definitely a grinder. You might make a good JB-Welder though?
Seriously?!!? Glad I skipped to the end ... at least I only wasted a minute !
Rat Rod Bob Builds I thought it might be something cool so I weighted for the big surprise lol don't I feel stupid.
ME TOO... hah !
Nice hade the same kinda tool to lift the piano.
The take or position the wheels vor transport ♡♧♡
Very amazing.
Most amazing use truck wheel for that sofa.
if I'm one of the first 500 , do I get 2 ? Can't have too many of those babies . Got anything to get these wheel grooves out of my floor ? Never miss a chance to get down on my knees to do something I could do standing . Just having fun at your expense . At least you are trying . I hope you come up with something great some day . So here's an idea . Modify that thing to where it will fit under one of those boots they put on your tire for not paying tickets . Make it so you just pick it up and drive away on those wheels . Eh? Every dead beat will have to have one .
What type of welder is that? Seems handy.
What were you spraying on the parts before each weld? I'm just a do it yourselfer and just do a little welding. Thanks for the info.
With a couple tweaks, that could be used to lift and move a refrigerator on my jobs. i would like to talk with you more about this, You up for it?
I'm sure Harbor Freight & Salvage will be interested in this...
Dragons den will be counting the money out as we speak...lol
I like your Bahco slip pliers. I have several pair and they hold up well.
Watching this disgrace of genius of a video was worth every second for reading the comments.
Bought a one complete with a set off plates on wheels for about £5 about 10 years ago used it to move a 8x6 shed and its sat in the garage ever since unused.
Turn that handle straight up at a 90° angle....make it about 4 foot long. Put a pedal on back behind wheels to help push with your foot. That may be abit more useful to people that have a hard time getting on the floor because of back problems like myself. It's just a thought...
Thanks could you please tell me about that spray, what is it and what is it used for?
Honey, the couch fabric is torn down by the floor. Damned cat !!
There's four minutes I'll never get back.
Great idea ! Just make it bigger !
I bought the same device about 15 years ago at a close out store for $10. I have to say it was very usefull several times. It worked great to adjust the leveler legs on my washing machine, dryer & refrigerator, all are difficult to do with out this tool.
So... I have a few small pointers.
- People without access to welding equipment will not be able to make this. I kinda think this is a step you should have thought of before making this video.
- Whatever you lift is all relying on a small washer. The hook is now from the bottom up, which means that the washer carries ALL the weight. If you make it so that the hook goes down from the top, the weight of whatever you are lifting will actually be on the strong welded metal, and the washer will only hold the thing in place.
- The weels WILL leave dents and marks on the floor if whatever you lift is too heavy.
- The paint might leave smears on anything hard, like the cabinet. A transparent epoxy coating would have been better. And definitely put a felt mat inside the corner metal so things don't get damaged.
- To lift your sofa you spent a lot of time in your shop, welding together a contraption that is already commercially available.
Cool I like it...Angle the handle upwards-and longer...to stay off your knees...
🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
I have one of those. Bought it at the hardware store!
What is the spraycan you use to clean joints just before mig welding?
All that effort to pick up a sofa? What a waste of time.
I have a wife that needs to rearrange the furniture all the time. he is close to a cheap helper, I gave him hints to make it better. I might make one to free me from furniture day, not like this one it's a loss but like I gifted to him yea.
say that when your 80 and have back problems and live alone. dumbass!
He's using the sofa to demonstrate how it works. It'd be useful for something you couldn't lift as well. I use the plastic coasters designed for moving heavy stuff. I could use this to lift my 500# safe to get the coasters under one side then lift the other side with it to move it.
Plus the hardwood floors. You can just slide it across like butter
Genius?
You have snap rings, but no snap ring pliers.
Worlds biggest shipbuilder
Chris holder
Chris holder easter service 2017
A good idea and if you used substanual sized casters & metal frame You can move very heavy items like a metal lathe or Brideport mill machine . or many other VERY heavy items
Hell yeah its all bout leverage baby work smarter not harder
I just wasted my time watching this video and I bet I'm going to need to make a tool like one day and say to myself.....why did I just say it was a waste of time....lol
There's always something new out there and this is just an idea that can help someone out there one day.
Should of warned me to grab my hood. Think I got flash burn man! Lol. Nice gadget 👍
Occasionally, one can buy these at Liddle. I got one 3 years ago and they came up twice since then
Great Idea But I personally would change a couple things (1) Instead of grinding a slot and putting a snap ring I would put a washer over the steel rod drill a hole and put a clevis pin in it ,Then if you need to take the wheel shaft out just pull the clevis pin and drop it out(2) I would build it on a bigger scale like a hand cart with a T handle, Actually this would work well if you worked alone like in a small warehouse and didn't have a forklift,You put the front end of a sofa or large crate on a dolly place this at the backside and push and steer. ...Great Idea though
I like it ... but what about a tool to help pick up the "Handle Tool" ?
There's 4 minutes I will never get back
Maybe you could make yourself a pair of snap ring pliers.
They make coasters for the legs that help mover furniture too, I guess this works if you aren’t strong enough to lift the couch.
Always weld immediately after spraying brake clean on your parts. It helps with a faster death. The more you know (and the little NBC star flies by).
The time it took you to make that I rearranged my whole living room
My bro... all that effort for this? I admit that it's handy... Maybe you'll use it 4 times in your life.
Start with 4 casters attached to their own little frame,,, add a pivot on the top for that arm. The casters will work a little bit better when the stem or theoretical stem of the caster is 90 degrees to the floor. If I wasn’t battling Lyme disease I could finish building my pedal kart. It’s 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steer. I built into its design a locking system so it can lock all 4 wheels in drive. I’m over building the first one so I can put a blade on the front of it and plow the snow off of the sidewalk.
That's absolutely genius. When are you going to invent a wooden floor scratch removing device?
"Give me the stick and place to stand, and I shall move the universe" That's very cool. The suspense was killing me....and apparently quite a few others. But consider this.....You maybe don't have to move a couch with it. The couch may just be a large cumbersome object that could demonstrate one of the simplest jobs for this tool while the possibilities are endless. But I was hoping for a robot with a tractor beam laser or something super cool!
If you are going to use a circlip use the right one external not an internal clip
Steven Morris Good eye , I didn't notice that, only that he was having difficulty, had to get out the pump pliers. And , get some circlip pliers.
E Clip would be more appropriate.
You know what would make moving this couch across the room ALOT easier? If I fabricated a lever out of steel.
Gee whillikers, maybe I could move those by hand, you think?
Perfect only for that couch that floor and that placement
This guy has never seen a pair of snap ring pliers. Makes my head hurt.
LOL, you could have just pushed the couch back and the cabinet...LMAOL!!!
Next time, lag bolt a boom hoist to the fireplace chimney. Move furniture everywhere, bring the car motor in through the window, build an addition or set up a Christmas tree with it. That's how the pyramids were made. Inside with a boom hoist on a ship during the floods caused by the missing pin that held the stone hinge together.
Thanks for the video, very interesting and could be very useful. Don't pay attention to the millennials comments below, if it doesn't attach to an XBox they have no idea how to use it. They have never had to move anything in their parents house.
Congrats, you made a mini dolly.
the formula one pit crews use a similar tool for quick pit stops...
You throw the word genius around like you know what it means.
I noticed that you dragged the footpad off the rear leg of your sofa. I saw you cop a look at it, too. Next video, show us how to conceal the scratches in a fake wood floor.
it would be handy for a drywall installer to get the middle seam tight.
will it pull an 8 second quarter mile ?
You can buy one for $3 at the multimart. And the clip should be at the bottom
I have almost the same tool at home to move furniture I call the tool kids
Hay! Quá tuyệt vời.
Great idea could you make another with an “S” shape handle for leverage?!
Actually this tool is quite useful. I bought one years ago.
I have a professionally made one that I have had for 10 years. What will you invent next...the can opener?
It's a furniture lift. You're welcome, I just saved you 4 minutes of your life.
add a rubber/plastic grip on the end of the handle. I love the idea
I think I can handle lifting pliers by hand. and as far as lifting heavy objects, ever heard of a Johnson Bar?
If you have to use this to help you move a foam coach across a slick wood floor, you should probably hit the Gym...
Keep it up dude coz the same things were said to benjamin franklin, nikola tesla, george lucas, steve job and many others.
Is there a problem of moving the furniture without it?
UAUUUUUUUU. GREAT IDEA
very good
Not a bad idea if it were bigger and had larger wheels.
Kinda hard to see it (on fast fwd), but it looks like all the load is on the clip, put the collar under it, you wouldn't need a clip. Interesting though,
Don't quit your day job.
Bob Mustari AAAa
He probably doesn't have one. Who the fuck would hire an IDIOT??
another amazing tool is "c" ring pliers they work awesomely for "c"rings. don't have to scratch up the paint on your couch mover
I bought mine from Lidl complete with skates to go under the furniture.
Must have far too much time on your hands and another useless tool.
Rex Oats
Agreed
JUST FORWARD TO 3:30 save yourself time to know you do NOT need this "tool"
This video is like watching an episode of This Old House's What is it ? Segment!
I thought he was making a skateboard... ahajaja!
But will this cut your electric bill 30% Iike the mist and save?
probaste con levantar el sillon con la mano?!
You used an internal retaining ring in application where an outside retaining ring should have been used. Other than that, needs more cowbell.
What exactly does it do because last time I checked you can just slide a couch anyways
Could this guy be the answer to putting an ash tray on a motorbike
Well, handy, but "Absolutely Genius", I'm not so sure. Sliced bread is absolutely genius. Night baseball is absolutely genius. But a couch picker-upper? How often do you move furniture around anyway, don't answer that.
Can you load an ice box, into the bed of a pickup with it? 😨😲
this is a copy of an actual device sold in stores in the 70s and 80s looks almost identical. came with feet with wheels so after you lifted the object you could lower onto the wheeled feet.
