there isn't a "ticket" charge but the owner has to pay for fuel, crew, maintenance, hanger, landing fees etc. There are no free flights (unless you are a friend of the owner)

changing the carpet ina private jet is about 100k to 175k if your going to buy a used private jet... you should also check the total landings, i watched an amateur millionare buy a 1982 flying cofin for 1.2 million... the plane has 7,500 landings. that meant it took off and landed for 20 years everyday you can lease a new private jet for around 300k per month plus the hourly cost for the flights you take i like jacky changs 65 million dollar jet (taylor swift has the same model, and a smart business advisor)
7500 landings is not excessive, especially if the aircraft only has 5000 hours or so. And $300k per month lease payment is more than the cost of the TOTAL aircraft AND operating costs of a $70m Global 7000. BTW, Jackie Chan has a $20m Embraer Legacy, and Taylor Swift has a Dassault Falcon 9X.

I still don't get it, maybe I am stupid....I just can't see it, unless you are a famous person and need a private jet. It seems like commercial will always be more cost effective. If the yearly costs of a jet are 1 million to 2 million dollars for each plane and you travel 100 times a year, even if you are paying $5000 dollars for every first class ticket, you still save over half to one and a half million dollars flying commercial over private jet ownership. If you just want to throw away money, I am here for you.
A lot of the justification is time vs money. I'm a captain on a chartered private jet. Last week I took two business men to several locations for them to do site visits. We were visiting 2-3 locations per day and each location averaged 200 miles apart. If they were to drive, this would end up being 7-8 hours of just driving (not factoring in traffic, bad roads, mountain passes). If they flew via airline, none of the destinations were direct connections of each other which would have made total travel per day about 12-14 hours (travelling to the airport, security, hub connections, travelling from the airport). With the private jet, each flight is about 30 minutes, the passenger shows up 10-15 minutes before takeoff, and the destination is planned to be a suitable airport as close as possible to their meeting location (10-20 drive). That makes their day eight hours total and included three business meetings.
Who the heck has 42 million in the first darn place wether your rich or not there is no way i would own a plane, i would lease then use as a write off loll like i know what the heck i am talking about, shoot folks i have never flown in my life, the very first time will be Monday morning.
