This Week With Cars - Episode 0262
#LMTV #GovPlanet #MilitaryTruck
I would paint the trailer to match the truck. Love the camo colors
I don’t know why, but I love it.
Wow Steve! That was a great instructional video! The only negative comment that I have,is, the pod looks like a barnacle on a break water! Out of place! Will you please Paint it with the same matt camouflage details that the lorry has??? Well done! Can't wait till episode 3 for the respray ! ! ! 🤓👍😆
Those stairs were a really good addition to this project.
I would paint the travel trailer to match the truck.
Brilliant work, that would really piss me off how the manufacturer put the sticker for the solar controller in the wrong place, well out of order and very sloppy.
That truck frame is designed to twist I believe over 20 degrees. You should look into a zero torsion frame so that when you go over obstacles the truck frame twist doesn't destroy the habitat. Rvglobetrekker
That thing came out looking really good even the wheel Arch like lines up on that truck. It had been nice if there was a way to have it all the way connected to the cab with a pass through but still that thing is epic as hell. I've seen people take old like State bed trucks and put all trailers campers on them before. But this by far is one of my favorite
Nice. I think a second set of the truck's front fenders would look awesome over the rear wheels, attached to the side of the R-Pod.
Cool beans 🙃
Go anywhere - anywhere - camping. Very nice, good idea and a fun project, I like Steve's work. Cassy again fulfilling her (important; she brings the glamour) role perfectly.
Awesome rig dude.
Absolutely I do, want to see more vidoes like this one
What a awesome build Steve you really outdone yourself this time. Thank you for the awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great rig!! I hope you paint the pod green!
That's what I call camping in style!
Good job Steve.
Enjoy your outdoor shenanigan's
Looks like fun and comfort. Enjoy!
It is looking like it will be an excellent camper when completed Steve. A bit of a bugger about the solar controller cut-out sticker being located incorrectly, though the permanent fix you proposed will sort that out nicely. Please post a video of the camper set up at your camp site.
This type of content interests me, I am sure it interests others. Please post more of the same. Viewers have many interests, not just the classic cars you have. Keep up the good work 👍.
Looking good? Well as long as you like it🥸
A lot of work there Steve but great progress. It's a shame they put that panel cut out in the wrong place but I know you will make it look good. I like the solution for the stairs really nice fit as if they were always there which is what you want to achieve on any build. From the camera angle I did think it was now too high to get it out of the shop but I know you would not make such a basic error. Enjoy your camping Steve and thanks again for the video. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Are you still planning on moving the aircon on the roof to a safer place? Maybe a 'bash plate' over the front will protect it from branches and other obstacles.
I have a concern. The reason why I have a concern is your truck will have a very rough ride. Aren't you concerned that that is going to shake that little trailer to pieces in the back since it's connected to the truck very rigidly and you don't have any dampening measures taken to help soften the blow's at this trailer is going to see.
It should be a lot smoother than those tiny tires on the original trailer. Next step might also be a self leveling air suspension on the camper.
Camping trailers have going down the road with a hurricane and an earthquake relationship simultaneously for decades....the R-Pod will be alright. 👍
I've had trailers and honestly I think it being loud on that truck is going to be way better for it those little tires that most those campers are on and the frames for the trailers are not very strong I've seen those things flex that truck has he that he is not going to flex it might shake it around a little guarantee of less than it would be if it was on its own wheels I seen people do this plenty of times before.
This is one awesome machine!!! The only thing I would do is fix up some solar panels that you can setup away from the camper should you find some shade to park under.
And now for the camo paint job on the R-Pod.
The camper look nice and I love the army truck
As usual a wonderful job ,,
Thank you! Cheers!
Sorry I forgot to say its awesome.
great stuff thanks
Hi Steve. Has anyone mentioned using the wheel arches on the camper for water or fuel storage ?
Years of fantastic travel ahead for you with this rig.
No can you post a link to explain more what you mean?
Did you see Jay Leno with an "EarthRoamer LT1"? Only $800K.
I'd rather have what you got going here. Looks much more capable.
Great work and looking good ...thanks for sharing. Camo paint job would finish it off nicely. Personally for stairs up into the camper i might have explored the possibility of a ladder mounted between the chassis that could be retracted at night so the zombies could,nt get in but nonetheless great work and keep the vids coming! 🙂
🙉🙈🙊man, Far Out😺😎😎
THNX👍💪🍻🦅🦅🦅🦅
A few people saying paint the camper unit same color as the truck, but I say paint the truck same color as the unit and drive it way up north, an arctic expedition!
Nice
Very nice, I prolly would have explored ways to reduce the height some, but for what it is it looks sweet, those stairs are slicker than snot. too much niiice!
--have you seen those ladder racks that rotate down the side, that would be cool for addition solar panels because solar irradiance isn't always the best, plus you could just park with the side of your truck facing the sun and lounge on the shady side. probably would be good idea to add some safety components, DC cutoff switch, fuses ect. good luck bro
Can you post a link to a picture of such ladder?
@@ThisWeekWithCars KARGO MASTER SINGLE DROP DOWN VAN RACK ruclips.net/video/PbiZ6Nv_WgE/видео.html
Great 👍👍
Looks great but will it fit under a highway over pass or traffic lights ?
It is under the 13'6" national limit.
@@ThisWeekWithCars That's Awesome.
@@ThisWeekWithCars watch out for residential streets the cable company is notorious for running low hanging wires across streets.
👍👍
Where is the ammo stored? LOL - Looks great.
😎👍
Camo paint. That is all.
STEVE, WHERE DID YOU FIND THE STAIRS? THAT IS A GREAT FIX FOR GETTING UP INTO UNIT.
In the description.
Yeah right on... the episode got a sub outta me... good stuff, brother.
Tell me, if you would, why you chose this mounting system and not a U-BILT three point like used on unimogs and others...??
Just curious 🤔
Peace and love from northern 🇨🇦
This will be a nice off-road rig. Why did you use wood spacers instead of hard rubber spacers? I would think rubber ones would be more durable and flex a little.
With the camper rigid mounted the frame flex will rip the trailer apart. How tall is the top of the AC unit?
That is why I am not going to rigid mount it.
@@ThisWeekWithCars Looks like a rigid mount is it not? Where are the springs?
What engine is in there, and what are the axle capacities?
what are you sitting at for overall height?
Beautiful rig!! I would love to build something similar, as it appears it would be very versatile. Concerning the Bluetti: have you actually run your AC with it? I have a 13.5 BTU AC, and an O. G. Bluetti AC 200 (2000W/1700Wh) it's supposed to have a 4800 watt surge. It appears to not have enough amps to run my AC😢. Do you use a soft start? Thanks for your insight in advance!!
Yes I ran the AC no problem with the Bluetti but I did upgrade later in this video: ruclips.net/video/V5xCz3-6Blw/видео.html
@@ThisWeekWithCars Thank you for your feedback!
This is a nearly perfect zombie apocalypse vehicle except there is no snow plow on the front to get through the hoards and there is no way to get to the back from the front without exiting the vehicle. Can the motor run on rendered zombie fat?
Have you figured out how much the average draw is for that AC and how long that battery can run it?
You can get efficient 6k btu mini splits that run at 700w, would be massive overkill even with the poor insulation, but with a 30% duty cycle you’d get 9h run time which would get you through the night and be real nice assuming the inverter is efficient.
The bigger issue is I’d bet that panel would be lucky to collect 1.2kWh a day so your second day you’re getting more like 4h of AC.
I would camo the trailer to match the truck. It looks out of place up there with the color it is.
How long do you think that you can invert AC, with that inverter? Hopefully it will hold up so you can fall asleep.
How much it cost everything, thanks
How long will the inverter power the AC? About 30min?
That looks really tall. How tall is it? Are you legal height?
Yes it’s well in legal height
Legal height is…? Have you ever answered the height question to the peak of the ac unit?
OK HERE IS MY QUESTION. SINCE YOU WILL BE DOING A LOT OF OFF ROAD, THAT TRAILER SITS VERY HIGH, HOW DO YOU COMPENSATION FOR A HIGH CENTER OF GRAVITY SO IT DOES NOT TIP OVER?
That trailer weighs much less than anything that truck would have carried. The center of gravity will never be high on a truck that heavy.
OK IWAS JUST WONDERING WHAT THAT TRUCK CAN HAUL.
What R Pod model do you have?
RP-153
How tall is it?
Forest River… have yet to be impressed by any of their products quality sad to say
Not sure any cheap camper build of sticks and staples would be any better.
