- The historic 'Mother Road' of America is Route 66. It has connected Chicago and Los Angeles across eight states and four time zones since it was opened almost 80 years ago. It now provides a nostalgic and entertaining journey through a dramatic and exciting period of American history.
From Chicago in the east to Los Angeles in the west, there is only one direction in songs, novels, and for Route 66 lovers. This fabled route snakes its way through the gorges of the city at Lake Michigan before becoming a rural road for about 4000 kilometres across "Small-town America."
In many parts, Route 66 still looks like a museum from the 1930s and 1950s. This three-part series delves into the rich and historic route that has come to resemble a piece of American history, geography, and faded American ambitions from the past.

As long as we all help preserve, visit, and engage with Route 66 and the businesses along the way, there will still be travelers for decades to come.
Great in its depth! From most of the huge number of videos about Route 66, I never knew the Coleman Theater was so splendid. Thanks for the glimpses into small town America.

Don't think things are quite that way in 2022. 🍁😎
What do you mean?
Probably not unfortunately-!!!🤔.
In your description: "The historic 'Mother Road' of America is Route 66. It has connected Chicago and Los Angeles across eight states and four time zones since it was opened almost 80 years ago."
US 66 only crossed 3 Time Zones: Central, Mountain and Pacific...
That is correct-!!!😉.
My father Bill Swan made a lot of iconic fiberglass statues which are placed along Route 66 some can be seen in a short Amazon book for only 14.99 called "The man behind the mufflerman ".
I lived on "Arrowhigh way ie Route 66
I just watched this series on Roku and I have to say I was incredibly disappointed. You rushed through the entire route in 4 shows and managed to somehow miss almost all the best parts of it!
Cattle auctioneers, the original rappers!
Do the ' First Nation ' people, fit in anywhere?
What nation are you referring to-???. Oklahoma contained the " 5 Civilized Tribes "
Madrid in New Mexico would be the only place Jesus would live.
Are there Easter crucifixion reenactments along with vendors selling crucifixes-???🤔.
