The owner of the Eggboard reached out and clarified about the bearings. I looked into it further and they actually are ABEC 9s. I always thought the number of ball bearings was a direct correlation of the ABEC number, but I was wrong. Just wanted to set the record straight.
@@josealaluf9584 ABEC is related to the American Bearing standards, which do NOT measure speed, only the tolerance for error in manufacturing. That's why ABEC doesn't tell you the quality of a skateboard bearing, because a higher quality only means it's more accurately built and would work better in a machine. For a wheel, a higher ABEC tends to loosely correlate to better rolling but really, it's a misapplied scale that doesn't help much. That's why brands like Bones have scrapped the idea and don't use ABEC at all
The number of balls is a manufacturing decision, because smaller balls require larger races and larger balls require smaller races. I personally use Bones Big Balls, which are Reds that use 6 balls instead of 7; the races are thinner BUT the lower number of moving parts significantly reduces friction and has made the bearings last me far longer than normal Reds used to. My Reds used to explode frequently but my Big Balls have lasted me over a year of hard skatepark riding with rare cleaning. Strongly recommend, only $10 more than a standard pack of Reds.
That board is terrifying, I'm so used to my 41' longboard. I had to switch from a penny to this board because it was too small, and I'd always mess up my footing. (I skate Goofy.) As someone who loves big boards this doesn't sit well with me lol

Heya dude, lovely video as always! Just wanted to help you in whatever way I can: I do a bunch of metal machining and repair with friends, and we deal with bearings in nearly everything we build or repair. The Golden rule for testing bearings is that they cannot be tested without a load! I've seen so many people testing bearings by loosely spinning wheels but it actually tells you nothing, because a bearing's free spin is more dependant on the lubricant and contact surface area of the balls. The best way to test your bearings is to ride the board, which you did here so that's awesome! Cheers guy 🤙🏽
It's just so easy to sit there and spin the wheel... Nah but that totally makes sense. I have read some people can watch their wheels spin for minutes, gotta be some big ass wheels and it must be really hard on the hands. Do you have any expert opinion on how wheels seem to spin less when the wheel nut is tightened down?
Hey man, thanks to you I impulsively subtracted my bank account and ordered an eggboard, hah! I can see how much work you put in your videos and I appreciate it. Keep it up man!

It’s not the bearings that’s slowing you down it’s the urethane quality although it’s rated at 78a that’s just the hardness the rebound quality of the wheel is what will rocket you forward a high-quality wheel uses the hardness and rebound quality together and is more important than the bearing. That said, I do use swiss bones for almost everything.

If any of you guys have a longboard and a deck from some cheap pennyboard sitting around you could slap on these thicc trucks on a penny so you can see how it feels before you buy it I did so myself and got a stupidly fast yet relativly stable board that fits into backpack with ease
Wheel bite is what happens when you’re turning hard on your skateboard/longboard, and the wheels scrape up against the bottom of the board. That’s why lots of longboards have the wheels sticking out so you won’t get wheel bite. :)
It looks really fun. They advertise pretty hard and I have thought about pulling the trigger a few times. But I don't think I would use it outside if travel. But when I travel I like to take a board I can skate the parks with. But it is in the radar.
@@concrete-waves I recently purchased an old Sector9 longboard with crazy flex. Never seen such well made fibreglass and wood deck (super thin, weughs nothing) except maybe Madrid and those were rare slalom decks costing $100 each (shoulda bought one !). That's probably the issue - good call. Although, I doubled checked and they are indeed ABEC 9, so that was my fault. Bearings are something I need to learn more about. I always thought that the number of ball bearings directly correlated to the ABEC number.
