I've literally built all of them.... I clearly have too much money lmao the turn a is good but I prefer the turn x, to the extent that I've bought 2 so I can do a custom build on it.
The comment about the Barbatos being heavily slanted towards the frame build makes sense with how much IBO leaned into Gundam Frames instead of just the Gundam
Please do not consider the MG 3.0 RX-78 as a (Must Build). The kit looks good coming out of the box, but a month after building it becomes a weak jointed piece of junk. The MG 2.0 RX-78 is so much the better choice. Build is solid and no issues with joints weakening over time.
I've built hundreds of gundam kits, and the Sazabi Ver. Ka is truly the best one I've put together. The detail is astounding, the build is fantastic and enjoyable throughout. Only downside is it is "questionable" on an action base, but I've had one posed nicely in a "flying" combat pose for over 4 years and it has yet to crush the action base (even though it wobbles back and forth whenever I walk past it, lol)
I actually just built the MG Astray Red frame Kai not two weeks ago, and was blown away. Not only was it my first MG, but the level of detail on the inner frame, and armor you can get to show through is mind blowing. Super solid build aside from it's little side skirts at the waist (every Astray I've dealt with has that issue). Phenomenally fun build, and has me looking to get many more MG kits.
I would recommend the age 2 from build divers though they've changed a decent amount of the inner frame including those terrible shoulders and I'm pretty sure they've sorted out the leg issue too. I wish they'd re-release the double bullet with that upgraded inner frame. P.s. The double bullet comes with the wings of the age 2 normal so can be used for custom builds or you can have them on the kit with the cannons, only thing missing is the dods rifle sadly
MG Dynames and Kyrios are a must from me. Combination of solid build, great articulation, and great colour separation on both. Only complaint is they don’t have the LEDs included but they don’t need them to look good
Excellent list. I think the only thing that I would add is if you get ANY Ver Ka kit, it should be the ZZ Ver Ka. The transformation is incredible, so solid in all modes, and there's detail on every square centimeter of the suit. Gorgeous and sharp and perfect from every angle.
I finished the RX-78-2 Gundam kit this morning. I had started last night but decided to wait and finish it tonight but I couldn’t sleep from thinking about it 😂😂. I’m hooked
Master grade Providence. 100% my favorite master grade of all time. The decals are perfect, the effect part for the shield/sword is amazing, and the kit is incredibly solid for such a bulky design.
the MG Acguy is still a nice kit despite its age to the point the inner-frame inspired the HGUC version's engineering, it even comes with effects parts, still wondering why we haven't got a MG Beargguy.
For my picks, i'd go for the Tallgeese, Zaku Lunamaria Gunner and the Z-Gok (mostly because of how unique it looks), with the VerKa Sazabi and Psycho Zaku with the harness on the top of the list.
I would also recommend the MG Alex 2.0. It is a very solid build (probably also based on the grand daddy frame) and it comes with a boat load of accessories. I love that you get the whole armor, which comes with its own innerframe. So you can apply the armor in multiple stages
The MG burning/god gundam from G Gundam was a lot of fun to build. It also was the first in my experience to involve using actual screws to the joints. It was fun to build because of that.
I loved the Master Grade Turn A as a really unique construction. The Zaku II 2.0 has probably my favorite inner frame, and is a kit that has tons of room for customization while also looking great just snap built together.

Building the Psycho Zaku right now. It’s a fun build but those tiny gold pieces are a b!&@#. I lost a couple (flew out of my fingers while cleaning the nubs) and had to fabricobble some replacements from the runners.
@@Armyoffreaks123 yeah I realized that when both the large size ones ripped right down the seam as I was scrunching them. I’m going to check my local hardware store to see if there’s any sort of plastic/rubber sleeve that I can replace those covers with for a more robust and, frankly, better looking solution.
Weirdly enough I would add the original MG RX78-2 from 1995. Not because it's particularly great but because it makes you realize just how much gunpla has improved over the years and it's still pretty cheap. (Or at least it was when I built mine last year)
Out of the few I've built, I'd recommend the Astray Red Frame Kai. Amazing mechanics, great extras and a really good experience overall. Also the F91 2.0, which has pretty good build experience and allows for LED too in a simple way. And finally the Crossbone X1 Ver. Ka, which is one of the most modern Ver.Ka and has also the pieces to make it the Skull Heart. Really good list btw!
I know it’s a Titans mobile suit but if you want a zeon styled master grade, the marasai is a great kit. I’ve also heard great things about the MG double zeta and Fazz, haven’t built one myself though & I can’t wait for more master grade ibo
astray is at the top of my list for must haves, no matter how many times I build it, its always fun, and I've always loved the simple sleek design of it, and the gerbera adds a samurai vibe to it
I just got into this hobby and I gotta say these videos are a godsend. I'm getting a perfect grade exia for Christmas and I'm trying to bridge my skill gap so to speak.
The older MKII 2.0 MG would be on my list. It's an affordable MG, I got mine for ~$32 at the time of purchase, it has a simple but enjoyable build process with some nice sliding armor in the legs that allows for great posing, and is quite solid. Also, it comes with its own launch deck base which most other kits lack.
Links ma.k videos and your videos can never be too long. I just ordered a bunch of ma. K kits and I’m so excited and I’m gonna watch links videos on how to glue and paint and hopefully that will Segway me into painting warhammer 40k
@@ZakuAurelius thanks for guiding me back into gunpla. I used to do the kits way back when gundam wing was on toonami and the kits were not what they are today. I did the kits with no tools just some scissors to get the parts off the runner(I was 11) after watching your gunpla for beginners guide I went and bought 6 HG and one MG(the talgeese which is a great kit, but one of the integral leg inner frame pieces broke and it’s been a nightmare trying to get it replaced.)
I personally went with the RX-78 Ver Ka, and most of my MGs are from 08th MS Team or Unicorn. But I do have some random kits like the Johnny Ridden Custom, a Strike Gundam with a massive arsenal, and the Ex-S Gundam that buckles under its own weight.
Definitely loving these lists and I'm hoping you have more in the future. Maybe a list of your top kits per review category perhaps? Also, I'm feeling a weird sense of accomplishment having built the first couple of kits on this list. Really looking forward to getting my hands on a Jesta Shezarr type and now due to this video, a Hyaku Shiki in the future.
Thanks a lot, Zaku Aurelius. I like your video. Very informative. After seeing it, I got myself a Sazabi Ver. Ka. Those models you shared, I agree. I have most of them as my MG collection as well. ,✌️
Those 3 MG GM are so good! So right & solid. Jesta and geara doga are nice looking kits, but both have soft ankle joints, I’d suggest to spray a clear coat on the ankle ball joints. Back to the topic, I really like this vid!!! I had 5 kits in my head when I see the title, and all 5 kits are actually shown in your list!!! 1. Sazabi Ka 2. GM sniper II 3. GM sniper custom 4. Rx78-2 3.0 5. Of course the awesome and my fav zaku II 2.0!!!
Sinanju Stein, Fazz Ver.Ka, Dynames, Freedom 2.0, Justice, GM Sniper II, Sazabi Ver.Ka, any Zaku 2.0, RX78 Origin. F90 is another highly recommend one for me, even if it is PB.
Would you recommend hand painting or just buying spray cans? Don't really want to drop the money an airbrush, plus nowhere to really set up an airbrush station with proper ventilation.
@@RyanStarcraftProtoss I'm of the belief that it's just better to get airbrush over spraycan so if there's issues witth getting an airbrush setup for you, then you might as well just go for handpaint. Besides, handpaint colors can be used for airbrush.
@@KrisHomemadeBaking Good point, after a bit of googling I also learned that it's safe to airbrush acrylics inside without an exhaust fan, just need to have a booth and a filter with a fan. So maybe down the line I can get a cheap airbrush set.
Great list, i keep coming back to this because i want to build my first mg. Damn unfortunate that gundam X isnt that popular id love an rg version of it, i mean 13:07 just look at that silhouette that looks amazing on a desk
RX-78-2 2.0, ZZ VerKa, Nu and Sazabi VerKa, Kyrios/Dynames, MGEX Unicorn, and Strike RM are probably my list, different reasons for each but all are the pinnacle of what they aim to be. Strike RM and 2.0 are show accurate and great kits, ZZ has a fantastic transformation, the new 00 frame is the best for posing and playing around with, and Sazabi/Nu are excellent shelf candy with tons of detail and complex builds
Those were two master grades i never expected to build and they surprised me once i did. They're super underrated since they're not main suits, but the build rivals some of the top tier master grades.
Of the mentioned kits I have the Barbatos, Geara Doga, and Buster, and they were all fun builds. Though I will say every time I touch the Buster, a different piece falls off. The MG I'm most excited for is the Virtue, though. Hoping it comes with a million clear bits so you can pose it shedding its armor.
The MG Gundam RX-78-2 3.0 and MG Gundam Barbatos (both Gundam Base Limited Clear Color ver.) was the very first kits that i built and it was so much fun!
Currently working on my MG collection and so far I have 6. The kits I recommend that are must builds by far would be the Freedom 2.0, Hyaku Shiki 2.0, and Wing Zero EW Ver Ka. All AMAZING builds and each of these always come up on comments or subreddits.
It wasn’t mentioned in the video but the master grade aile strike is so amazing it super solid and comes with and action base and was super fun to build
I highly recommend the 2.0 rx78 cause it's a simple but fun build plus all its accessories is worth you're money, gouf 2.0,mg barbatos,mg age 1 normal,mg gm sniper 2, mg gm sniper custom.
Zaku II FZ RE/100. a must for any level. it has the simplicity of a HG, but has the details and sturdyness of a MG. The color looks amazing out of the box so wether you want to paint it or not it already looks great.
Your list is very different from mine, mainly because I’m bias towards Gundam Wing. This is the series I grew up on and is what most of my collection consists of. The MGs I own are Epyon, Tallgeese, Deathscythe H EW, Altron EW, Wing Zero V Ka and Shin Musha from the Dynasty Warriors Gundam2 video game. I recently bought the F91 Gundam ver 2.0 and will be building it soon. You had a nice list that mentioned Gundams I haven’t even heard of. I’ll definitely be adding a few from your list to my collection such as the Astra Gundam and maybe the RX-78, I mean that is the OG of the Gundam franchise. Thanks for the video
I know its an older kit now but mg deathscythe was my first kit and it just look so good on the shelf with the wings up swinging the scythe, deff reccomend one for anyone that hasnt built one
Zup Zack, nice list, I myself have built a few of them, and I will be building some from your suggestions as well, I would’ve preferred to see the names written down but I guess I can always come back to this video for reference. Thank bro. Shalom!
I love that 00 is finally getting the Master Grade treatment! i think there is so much untapped potential from 00. there are so many master grades i would love to see from the 00 series. so many of the mobile suit designs were interesting and unique and each faction had their own sort of style. and not to mention all the villain Gundams/Mobile Suits.
Mg Hyaku shiki 2.0 is a must have, out of the fifty or so gunpla I’ve built, this is the king of them all. It has a simple build, cool design, amazing looking gold, lot’s of detail, phenomenal articulation, solid structure and a satisfactory amount of accessories which is made up for in what you can actually do with them (aka storage). It may be a little pricier then most mg’s, but it is worth every penny.
My list: Zaku II 2.0, GM Sniper II, Jesta, Sazabi Ver Ka, Sinanju, 00 Raiser, Dynames, Barbatos, Freedom 2.0, Justice. You’ve definitely convinced me to check out the MG Ball. Hope I can track one down.
One kit id add to the list is thr Aegis. Its such a different build from literally every other kit, especially in the seed line, its a good one to show how weird a bukld can be but make sense at the same time
If I was going to recommend starter Master Grade kits I’d actually go with models like the GM Kai or Mobile GINN. They might not be the most flashy but if you’re coming from a background of HG they’re a comfortable first step.
The MG Zeta 2.0 (and variants) is absolutely a must build. I just wish they included the LED on the tail binder, the slots on the rear skirt for stowing the beam rifle, and the landing gear on the hyper mega launcher, like they did on the original MG Zeta.
I straight up graduated from HG Gundam Wing kits back in my teenage days to the MG EX-S Gundam when I landed my first career position in my early 20s. Now in my 30s and I'm tempted to get back into gunpla after a long hiatus and eyeing the MG FAZZ, EX-S Deep Striker, and Sazabi kits (that I lusted after when I was a broke student).
Super cool topic! Here are my picks based purely on my personal fun factor I also feel these kits really show off how cool A Mg can be. And I feel are rewarding builds. Ps I posted my list at the beginning of your vid. Hyaku Shiki Ver 2, Nu Gundam Ver Ka Sazabi Ver Ka Rx 78 V3 Acguy (yup I'm serious, it's a deceptively fun build) Zaku V 2. GM Sniper II. Turn A My Runners up Sinanju (its just a tiny bit finicky) Zeta V2 Speculative And kits I haven't built yet but I'm really amped to are the MG Barbatos and the New MG Fazz Sentinel, I have a feeling they are something special.
I would recommend the Sinanju Stein, I love it, I love how it looks and the build is pretty nice. I looks impressive. Nice videos, I like this format a little better. Greetings from MX
I haven't built any kits in a few years up until a few days ago. Since then I've built the ball, and the ball with spider legs and I'm currently working on heavy arms before getting into the IBO kits. I bought like 20 kits a couple years ago when my mom and brother passed, built a few and put them down. Just now getting back into it and even though I still have 15 more kits to build I already want more lol
MG Rick Dom Char custom is a good one for beginners imo that i've just built, lots of big chunky parts, very easy to build by MG standards, very stable to play about with posing options as well with those big old Dom feet.
Barbatos is hands down the most fun I've ever had assembling an MG and it really commands your attention on display I really hope bandai does a lupus rex version soon. Another I personally like and I think would be good for beginners is shining. It's an old mg and one of the first. But still holds up today and Is a joy, something about the old inner frames with the screws is still rather appealing to me even with more detailed kits like unicorn and the beast that is mg exia.
MG Dynames has been one of my favorite kits I have built. Good articulation and solid build with unique weapons and cool wings. One of my favorites for sure

I’ve also heard great things about the MG double zeta and Fazz, haven’t built one myself though
& I can’t wait for more master grade ibo
ZZ is a blast, the legs are an experience of themselves
astray is at the top of my list for must haves, no matter how many times I build it, its always fun, and I've always loved the simple sleek design of it, and the gerbera adds a samurai vibe to it
I just got into this hobby and I gotta say these videos are a godsend.
Awesome!
12:34 The katanas are called the Gerbera Straight and the Tiger Pierce
The big boi sword is called the Tactical Arms
Hands down mg rx78 2.0, has no issues and still holds up
11:58 If you don't paint your kits, I recommend skipping the MG Sengoku Astray
All of the red plastic is the wrong shade of red
Would you recommend hand painting or just buying spray cans? Don't really want to drop the money an airbrush, plus nowhere to really set up an airbrush station with proper ventilation.
@@RyanStarcraftProtoss I hand painted mine, which is risky cuz the whole inner frame needs to be painted. Be mindful of where the pieces to eachother.
@@RyanStarcraftProtoss acrylic is excellent for hand brushing too. Vallejo, Tamiya, Mig, Acrysion are some good acrylic brands
I would also say the the Nu Ver Ka. It’s a difficult build but man once it all comes together it’s so damn cool and has so much presence
Great list, i keep coming back to this because i want to build my first mg. Damn unfortunate that gundam X isnt that popular id love an rg version of it, i mean 13:07 just look at that silhouette that looks amazing on a desk
It’s a great looking MG for sure! If you can find one!
Thanks for a fabulous selection. Makes my life simpler. Great work.
Only things I'd throw in there is the Mg Acguy and Guntank, two just incredible, unique builds that are a joy
+1 for the acguy. That's one big boi.
@@papaengot i was surprised at the bulk once fully built and the weight in hand. It's a very solid kit that gets overlooked
Those were two master grades i never expected to build and they surprised me once i did. They're super underrated since they're not main suits, but the build rivals some of the top tier master grades.
MG ACGuy for sure. I haven't built a Guntank yet and don't want to shell out 200 USD for one right now.
@@charlesgao2179 $200?!! Who the hell comes up with these prices 😂
Surprised you didn’t mention the MG Qan[t] while talking about OO kits, since it’s also a pretty good Model kit
My picks would be the Barbatos, the Freedom 2.0 and the Dynames.
Those are also pretty much all I have though.
lol you havent built shit kek
So glad to see the GX on your list, nice simple build but super solid and looks fantastic.
Kotobukiya Zoid was my first build. It was just as satisfying as building a racing drone.
Thank bro. Shalom!
Good suggestion! I’ll include text in the next one 👍
2.0 shiki coating is the superior gold coating and I wish Bandai would use it more than the chrome gold plating
My first ever kit was the Ginn MG and it is such a satisfying build
I found at least 3 kits from this video that I’m buying. You put together a great list so thank you for that!!
Glad to see you recommend the Double X.
Very nice list. I hope to see something like this for other grades as well (HG should be interesting considering how many there are)
I feel MG Aile Strike RM is a good build for the MG. Quite solid.
Indeed! I placed that on my list of best MG for beginners 👌
The amazing red warrior..this kit is so underrated..i love every single piece of it..also not mg but close enough..re 100 zaku 2 fz..
I mentioned that in my best MG for beginners list! I agree it’s really nice
Super cool topic! Here are my picks based purely on my personal fun factor I also feel these kits really show off how cool A Mg can be. And I feel are rewarding builds.
Ps I posted my list at the beginning of your vid.
Hyaku Shiki Ver 2,
Nu Gundam Ver Ka
Sazabi Ver Ka
Rx 78 V3
Acguy (yup I'm serious, it's a deceptively fun build)
Zaku V 2.
GM Sniper II.
Turn A
My Runners up
Sinanju (its just a tiny bit finicky)
Zeta V2
Speculative
And kits I haven't built yet but I'm really amped to are the MG Barbatos and the New MG Fazz Sentinel, I have a feeling they are something special.
Really enjoyed the RG bracket, maybe this spur another backer for the best MG…
Sazabi Ver Ka and Nu Ver Ka. Two beautifully designed kits. Also the 00 Raiser (my favorite MS).
totally agree with you !! i have some of theses kits, and damn i loved building them and now admiring and posing them !
Turn A is one of my favorite series. Ive been looking for both Turn A and Turn X kits. Glad they made your list!
A few of the kits I was already thinking about before watching, the GX and Double X are in my top 5 for designs and I really enjoyed both builds.
I just built my first gundam which was the lupus Rex HG next I definitely want to build gushion rebake with the giant bolt cutters
@@malikmadison6304 gushion is fpr sure a very unique build
Youll have a lot of fun with that one
MG Dynames has been one of my favorite kits I have built. Good articulation and solid build with unique weapons and cool wings. One of my favorites for sure
