I like being an individual contributor so I can work on work and then do what I want after work. More responsibility for a company that doesn't care about you and can fire you at any time anyway sucks
Hey Kevin, I am just feeling the same... going from L5 to L6 , but now due to stress taken a sabbatical. I totally relate to this. We should decide a stop in professional growth and involve more which makes you happier, be with family do gymming. Thanks for the video.x
Definitely don't want to be part of this meaningless tech grind for 40 years. Getting to L6+ asap and grinding it out for a few years will allow you to retire after 10-15 years, invest into some passive income and/or find something to work on that's not a rat race in a corporate ladder that's all about pushing revenue at all costs.
Yeah this was my plan. There's nothing broken about promotions, with the anticipation of building enough capital to GTFO the industry way before 40 years (10 years for me).
yea this is the valid answer basically. If you're not building a side business 10-15 years with stock coming in every year in big tech should allow you to retire in 15 tops
I this is channel is in a bit of a bubble. Most devs in the world are not trying to climb the ladder. But those who end up on his channel are more likely willing to push much harder in their carreres
… but it sure makes the misery a lot more affordable. Joke aside, I don’t consider a promotion a REAL promotion if I don’t get a significant monetary and career gain. I think management knows that I know this because I never got promoted after that. 😂
95% of you aren’t subscribed and now i’m sad
But I am, since 5 years.❤
