Great run with both trucks, never get tired of the backflips either! I'm with you on the stock esc and motor with the 20/50 gearing. I run that on both my XMaxx and XRT, plenty of power and control on both and you don't break as many parts in the long run... Another nice bash out there!
Hell yea man ... nothing at all wrong with stock esc and 20/50 gearing .... i tried making the point in the video that you dont need to buy a brand new Xmaxx and change esc straight away ... sure once it breaks whack in a Max6 .... thanks for watching bro 🙂🤘🏻

I literally just bought the max6. Should b here tomorrow. I guess it’s a matter of opinion and every xmaxx is diff. There is many vids out there where they show the max6 is better. Only thing that’s matters is the smile on ur face bro.
Dont get me wrong , the max 6 is better (more options).... but there is nothing wrong with the performance of the stock esc .. i say use stock until it fails then upgrade .... i have 2 spare Max 6's brand new wating for such time

I have 2 XMaxx’s, one I bought new about a year and a half ago and the other I bought off of eBay used. My original is completely stock except for the servo upgrade 2085X, Duratrax 6 packs tires/wheels, and 20/50 hardened steel gearing and also a cush drive eliminator. Extremely powerful and punchy with the stock ESC. My used XMaxx had/has a Castle Mamba Monster X, stock motor, 20/50 gearing and copperhead tires/wheels from the Kraton 8s. This one shuts down after about 10 minutes and doesn’t have nearly as much punch and correction in the air. I tend to agree that the stock ESC is more than adequate with a bit more punch than the Castle (I know you’re comparing to the Max6) but I presume they are similar to the Castle. I actually bought a Max 6 but I haven’t installed it yet. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot with Castle to see what’s wrong with it. Anyway, nice run brother! My bash spots aren’t quite as nice as yours. That location you’re at is primo.
I think stock Xmaxx is an awesome machine with 20/50 and some slight mods like you said with hardened steel gears Etc ... the stock esc does a great job! Ive never used Castle is any of my Rc's.... hobbywing is my go to
Awesome vid, is the punch on the max 6 adjusted to max or are you just comparing it out of the box? I was considering getting the max 6 combo with the 1650kv motor for my xmaxx. You can sell the stock system and by the max 6 combo straight across like a trade. What that be a good idea in your opinion? I got my xmaxx used so I figured getting a new combo would just make sense if it’s not costing extra money.
Hey mate .. i had the max 6 on punch 3 The max 6 is an awesome upgrade when the Vxl system gives out or if you are looking for more adjustments... but if you are not wanting to blow unnecessary money right away and happy with the stock performance then run it as is until something gives out .... im running the red xmaxx now on 20/46 gearing with the stock Vxl and motor amd it performs great .... watch the latest video i did on it 👍🏻
I am full on your way....last 2 years drivin my XMaxx every Part dies on time but not the ESC is still going....Servos ar still a big Problem in my opinion i drive a 1/5 Scale Mod now because of 3 Servos are died.
Yes the servos i changed almost straight away , i keep them for the Xrt which i find run pretty good .... stock esc does a really good job and wouldnt change it until it dies 👍🏻
Awesome video and comparison. I’ve just gotten an xmaxx, mine doesn’t seem as punchy as yours does in the air, mine feels like you need to give it like 90% throttle to get some correction. Even needs almost full throttle to pop wheelies. Is there a way to adjust the punch on the stock esc? Also what brand gearing do you use? Struggling to find places with harden steel gears here in Aus!
Hey mate thanks for watching I run both my Xmaxx's on 20/50 gearing , that should give you the punch and backflips easy .... on my green im still using the stock traxxas ones ... its lasted well over a year now ... and the red im using HR spur and arrma pinions .... Aliexpress is awesome for HR gears 👌🏻
@@kaosr.c appreciate it mate. I’ve just ordered some 20/50 gears to give it a shot! Also bit of a diagnostic question for you, I went to run my xmaxx and it ran for about 2 mins before it shut off. I noticed the V light flashed red, but my batteries were fully charged. I put them back on the charger to see what they read and it was balanced and 4.15v all round. Put them back in the car and no issues. The next day I went to run it again, and it did the same thing except I didn’t notice the red light flashing. I switched the battery connections over and it ran fine. Any ideas? It’s a second hand xmaxx, couple years old. Could this be an indicator of my esc dying?

Outcast 8s is fun too ! I love mine but it is a lot heavier ... xmaxx is still my favourite

Justin has the stock tyres which are lighter by far ,which makes a differance to the heat and not shutting down ,

How do you stop the body shell from banging when you land? My xmaxx makes a loud bang when landing

You turned the punch up on max 6? My blue turd kept going into thermal mode after 10/15 mins
The punch on max 6 is on 3 i may try punch 4 later
Light stock tyres and fans that work stop the thermal,which is what Justin is running
