  • Floating tea cup. How to make a floating tea cup. Today I will show you how to make these amazing Floating Tea Cups. You can float almost anything as long as the wire you use is strong enough to hold it.

    you can use a dinner fork or even coat hanger wire these will work too, just remember to bend them enough to support the cup . Remember if it tips over just raise the cup higher by gently bending the wire up until it balances. Or hide a weight e.g a flat pebble glued to the saucer and hide it with your decorations.

    A craft tutorial by a real person?! Someone whose hot glue doesnt dry instantly and shows things can be a bit tricky or fiddly. So refreshing! So many other tutorials make it look so easy that you feel like a failure when its not also super easy for you. Thank you!

      I know what you mean. Goss iv been burnt by hot glue so many times I get frightend to pick up the glue gun because mine dosn't dry as quick as I thought.

    Your cups are adorable. I love your watches. I've just started crafting this past year and trying to collect supplies I need, without having to stop and search for certain items then wait on them. I'm going to order some watches today. That is one of many things I don't have and I see how cute they are and how many different things I could use them on. Thanks for sharing your video with us. This is the first one of your's I've seen. I just subscribed and clicked follow to learn new things from you. You're a great "teacher". Have a great day. Linda from texas

      Thank you loopy hope you give this a try and your mum, remember and decorate it how you like whatever old junk you have. Try bolts and screws and nails for a man and use a mug as long as the wire is strong or even use a fork just bent the tines and a small part of the handle into the same sort of shape i did with the wire only without the hoop. Have fun that's what crafting is about

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  4 года назад

      from a charity shop they always have china tea sets. Remember if you buy any old ones chech the bottom and google the brand and stamp because some can be worth a lot of money. My sister got some that were worth £20 each and she paid £1 for 6. There are a lot of sites that buy old ones for people who have broken ! cup or saucer and need it replaced. She gave a donation to the charity shop and bought herself some craft items with the rest.

      Connie, I would try wrapping the fork in a kitchen towel then slowly bed it or use twisted thick wire, It dosn't have to be a fork. You can hide some bolts in the sacer to weight it down if it tips over. I got these smaller cups at a charity shop bone china cups are lighter too.

      Firstly thank you I appreciate the comment. It is amazing what kids can come up with from a box of junk. I have been doing crafts since I was 8 I got a silver foil kit for Christmas hahaha I was amazed and thought I had something worth a fortune but I saw one like it at a car boot sale and thought Oh my gosh it was just a silver card and a sharp stick. I had to score around a template of a hummingbird cut it out fold parts of it and that was it but to me, it was a work of art.

      Try coat hanger wire, I used garden wire for climbing roses. My neighbor gave it to me. I have used wire coat hangers before or a bent over fork. Loads of people use a fork and hot glue to stick it.

    can we use plastic cup instead of ceramic one?

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  7 лет назад

      I don't see why not It is something I never thought of, you could give it a try if it tips over you will have to hide a weight of some kind on the plate. Be careful the hot glue don't melt the cup

    Not sure if anyone else has asked this because I didn't read through all the comments, but can you use E6000 instead of a hot glue gun, or is the hot glue gun the best glue to use? I've also seen people use forks instead of wire....

    Hi.. just wondering where to buy the watch parts please.. thank you

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel

      My daughter bought them at a car boot sale from a man who fixes watches. She only paid a few pounds for them. I added bits from old watches I had too.

    how do you make the cup and saucer waterfalls and rivers

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  7 лет назад

      If you want it too look like water then use hot glue. You can paint the glue blue like water. or even brown like tea.

    Love the concept but I wouldn't use hot glue because it becomes hard and brittle within a year or so. It would be horrible to see all your hard work ruined.

      Mine have been fine so far and my sister has one that is 4 years old and still in-tacked with hot glue.

      Keep at it this is a fab hobby, A mantra for you every morning say " I will achieve small, but great things" Every prosses has to be learned through trial and error. Even our first steps as a baby so don't give up, NEVER GIVE UP you can give IN and try a different approach but never give UP.
