    I thought the scenes between the Xenomorphs and the Predators were the best part of the movie. And thanks to this movie, now Lance Henriksen is now the second actor to be taken down by a Terminator, an alien, and a predator on film.

    I always wanted to see an Aliens vs. Predator movie based more on the video games and comics, where it takes place roughly in the same timeframe as the Aliens film and included the Colonial Space Marines. I feel like Colonial Marines were sorely underutilized in the films, really only showing up in Aliens, and I feel like there is still so much potential with films revolving around them. I'd still happily see an AvP movie more inline with the games and comics with the Colonial Marines if it were actually done well and at a similar quality as Aliens. I was really bummed when Neill Blomkamp's Aliens sequel was scrapped in favor of Alien Covenant.

    • @DrQuagmire1
      @DrQuagmire1 2 года назад +11

      and look how "Alien: Covenant" got shit on by those who saw it. "Prometheus" was alright, but making a prequel to the original "Alien" (let alone two of them) and showing the Space Jockey in full kinda ruins the mystery behind them and their origins

      @TheOther644 2 года назад +5

      Aliens was great, but I do wish they didn't kill off damn near the Colonial Marines. Should have left a few others alive to be picked off as the movie went. AvP was good, I did enjoy them, but they should never have made it PG. And may be set in the future like the games and comics would have been great. I did like Prometheus, and originally thought that it was showing how the Alien came to be. But I was dead wrong. For me, those 2 movies are none canon and that Ridley Scott did it in small part cause he hated the Alien and Predator connection sucks. Blomkamp's Alien 5 sounded awesome and the fact that Weaver, Henn (Newt) and Biehn were done for it made me even more excited. Then of course Scott was all like, make his movie after my 3 movies have come out. So Blomkamp's got put on hold, and then dropped altogether cause of Scott.

    It should be noted that there was both an Alien vs, Predator book series and a Resident Evil series (essentially novelizations of the games) written by S.D. Perry...and Paul W.S. Anderson happened to write movies based on both concepts. I have a feeling Anderson at least read the books because when, in the movie, when a Predator marks Alexa's cheek with Xenomorph acid it's directly inspired by a similar scene where book character Machiko Noguchi is marked in the same way.

Where it failed was the PG rating IMO.. also, there was apparently a deleted scene where Scar plays a prank on Alexa shortly after she kills her first Xeno.. Well, I for one really liked AVP - the inclusion of Charles 'Bishop' Weyland (Lance Henriksen) was a trump card and as you stated, the script and story are solid. Director Paul W.S. Anderson delivered a good film and I agree, an R rated film would of been so much better. (The 'unrated' version is far superior!) The fact that the story does not interfere or contradict either the Alien or Predator franchises and fits nicely into the 'time-line' - is a major positive and shows Anderson's obvious love for both film franchises. While AVP is a good film, most of the fan base would agree that the comic book story titled, "Prey" - featuring Aliens, Predators and humans in outer space - was probably the best story for an AVP film but Fox, for some unknown reason didn't got with that story!

    I loved this concept while growing up. I loved both franchises, and after seeing the Alien Skull in Predator 2 (something friends at school didn't believe me when I told them) I wanted a movie so bad. . I have the comics, every Video Game based on it, even the full size Capcom Arcade. Since the "Dutch" character was in the Arcade Game I think I had too high of expectations for a movie. When it finally happened, I hated every acid dripped plot hole in that garbage. I was so disappointed. I heard there was an early script that the Arcade Game was based on (with Arnold) but I don't know if proof of that ever appeared

    What if Dutch had become the first space marine! The space marines need a back story and Dutch is perfect for that also that guy who was in Predator 2 and aliens, in Predator 2, got that other chick cop, (who reminded me a lot of Vasquez by the way) pregnant... I always figured the game over man guy from aliens was descended from his character in Predator 2 which explained his attraction to the Latina lesbian psychotic in Aliens that shitt runs hot in his blood! Regardless there are so many opportunities that they did not exploit. Same goes for aliens, they are Xenomorphs with the ability to take on the properties of whatever animal the Facehugger mixes with why did we not see more of that, flying aliens, snake aliens,... we kind of have swimming aliens in Resurrection but they really could have gone a lot farther with that.

    I am 50, but had been watching action and horror movies since I was young, so it was tough for a movie to scare me.
    But, I was about 26, playing the first person shooter AvP on PC, playing as the marine (or soldier), and the sounds of the Alien would make your skin crawl, and then it drops from the ceiling and attacks you. I litterally jumped in my chair. I have not played it since, and still have the game in the box sitting on a shelf in mine and my wife's office/collection room.

    In 1994 there was a great AvP FPS released on the Atari Jaguar. You could play as an Alien, Predator, or Colonial Marine. I still find it to be fun every now and again to hook the Jaguar up and play it (and the awesome Tempest 2000) for nostalgia. Crazy it took the studio a decade after this videogame to make a movie.

    Stan Winston was fucking mad-as-all-hell at this movie!!!! Wanna know why?
    Because what Minty DIDN'T mention in this video, is that even though Amalgamated Dynamics was brought onboard to work on the Alien and Predator, the original Predator creator himself, the late-great Stan Winston was pissed that 20th Century Fox didn't even hire him (nor H.R. Giger, for that matter) for a such a big project like this. Because if it wasn't for Stan's brilliance, we wouldn't have the iconic Alien Queen and Predator characters that we all know and love to this day.
