  • We're back with a DIY fog machine chiller ground fog tube for Halloween. It's a great way to create low lying fog for a haunted house. This ground fog from our diy fog chiller is perfect for your Halloween display or haunted house. How we plumb our foggers & fog chillers with pipes to create eerie fog effects for Halloween. What's a scary home haunt or a horror film set without creepy fog. If you're like us fog is one of our favorite parts of the display each year so we try to find easy fun ways to use it. If you're in need of some great fog effects this video shares a nice way to set up your fog machines using homemade fog chillers in your Halloween yard display or event. Watch as we share our ground fog setup including all the plumbing piped all over and under our giant extreme Halloween haunted house facade this year which is featured on ABC The Great Halloween Fright. For more prop ideas and information visit our website at www.hollywoodha...
    The options we used are inexpensive and easy to build and set up. We ran 30' of 4" x 10' black convoluted drain pipe from under the front porch of the rundown creepy house and attached a DIY homemade trash can fog chiller and a 1000 watt fogger to the end. The results was a great low lying effect that clung to and hugged the ground without even wetting the ground first. We also set up a similar situation on the the second floor of the haunted house with a converted ice chest fog chiller and a small 400 watt fog machine. We used the same hose or piping with 1/2" PVC and drilled small holes in the flats or wall panels so the fog would creep out onto the porch covering.
    Here is a link for the drain pipe we used

      Thank you and that sounds like a great project. We have several friends that have made these since and I think the chillers with metal dryer tubing work a little better because the cold and metal vs cold and plastic. I think oak lane cemetery made a cool one as well if you haven't already seen it. talk soon

    I plan on using a tidy cat car litter container, putting a metal shelf in it, and going to put dry ice on it, and put a PC fan in the top of it to help blow it out, fan powered by a 9V battery. I did plastic container foggers last year with dry ice and a fan, but the dry ice goes quickly and eventually sat in its own water. So hopefully the shelving will preserve it more while keeping the air cool.

    Looks great. I like to connect and seal the drain pipe with shrink wrap and heat gun vs tape. The lights in basement reminded me of the movie The Burbs.

      @HollywoodHaunter  9 лет назад +1

      That's a good idea using shrink wrap and your exactly right with the lighting. As we were making the haunted house we were like we should do something down underneath the house and then we thought of the Burbs and it was perfect. We were inspired a lot this year from that movie =)

    I can't believe how long the pipe is. I had no clue you could get it to travel so far in a pipe. Very thorough tutorial. Chris you're one crafty dude. you seem to be a little like me with the wires. I'm embarrassed for people to see them cause they look like hell. But it is what it is there no way around it if you have a but tun on lighting. The lights under the house remind me so much of meet the burbs with henry gibson.. it looks awesome . One last thing you have some wild looking lighting coming from the front of the house in a hyper white color and it looks like legit lightening what do you have going on there my friend??

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  9 лет назад

      Thank you, the fog will creep and push its self pretty far through piping and even if you had issues you could place a little muffin fan from a computer in line to help it along. Years past I would take the time to dress all the cables and coil up everything but we just didn't have the time this year. Then I was going to go back and do it and then I was like this is all coming down after Halloween anyway so I think I'll just leave it. We were inspired by that movie big time and used several things we loved from it in the haunt this year. The lightning is several of those cheap silver clamp light fixtures with 100 watt day time LED bulbs they work great! you catch a glimpse of them in this new fence video but we also have a video on our Lightning set up but it was back before we switched to LED Make A Haunted House For Halloween: Making Creepy Trees & Scary Rustic Picket Fence & Easy Set Up For Lightning Effects In A Halloween Display: DIY Romantic Dinner Lighting

    wish I could use a fog chiller here, usually its so cold at night here the chillers cant chill the fog fast enough to keep it on the ground

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  9 лет назад +1

      I know hot air rises but you would think the fog would stay close to the ground in the cold weather. I know the colder the nights are here the better it works.

    • @HauntedTents
      @HauntedTents 9 лет назад

      Hollywood Haunter fog chillers usual cool the fog down to 50 to 60 degrees . provided the outside temp is warmer than that they work great. here in my area of Washington state we normally have around 40 degrees.. which is still colder than the fog -(

    Looks like it worked out great!! Do you guys run your foggers on a timer? I thought about it, but was afraid that if they ran out of fog juice and kicked on it would burn them up. Good luck with the contest, you guys definitely deserve to win!!!!!!!

      Thanks we are super excited! We just have them turned on all night and when we notice the sound change the fog machines make and that there is no more fog being created we quickly shut them down and filler up again. We don't run fog every night just the calm ones with little wind and we haven't burned one up yet so far.

    How are you connecting the pipe to the fog machine? I have everything set up great except that connection keeps leaking. I have tried pvc glue, flex tape, etc but it just keeps coming undone and letting fog out that way.

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  Год назад

      Well to be honest we just placed it over the nozzle without attaching and yes it did leak sometimes but sometimes you may want to have the fog machine and the hose have a little space in between. It worked better for air pressure depending on temp etc. Keep messing with it weight it down with a brick to hold it in place etc. to see what works best. hope you figure out something and it works like you hoped.

    • @rickarchambault4756

      From what I've researched, don't connect the inlet pipe of the chiller to the fog machine. Separate the two ends 2 inches. You'll get more fog coming out the chiller's outlet for some reason. It's science...

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  9 лет назад +1

      We try to put as much ice in as we can. We also make our own ice filling up Tupperware bowls and freezing them to make big ice blocks. Whats nice is what ever doesn't melt each night can be put back in the freezer for the next day.

  • @kevind810
    @kevind810 4 года назад

    Hi wait late here... But given your experience do you think the same 4 inch plastic tubing with frozen 2 liter bottles inside would work? As a way of not using a garbage can. Just slide a bunch of frozen 2 liter soda bottles all inside the tubing... Wonder if that would cool effectively

    • @kevind810
      @kevind810 4 года назад

      So if there was 15 feet of the black tubing running along a fence with slotted holes...put a frozen bottle every foot or 2

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  4 года назад

      So you could try it and see. My guess is the bottles of ice may melt pretty fast being smaller and separated. I hear metal dryer hose conducts better than plastic. Here is my thoughts the longer the hose the more time the fog cools and will stay lower when it creeps out. In our experience the fog would stay inside the long hose cooling then the next burst would push it out and replace the fog in the tube over and over again. I'm not sure the ice really did much of the cooling. 🤔

    ghostsofhalloween dot com are the originators of the trash can chiller. I show their version with dryer duct on my channel. I also put ice in bags. Less messy overall. ^v^ Funny thing is they don't use itanymore. They use corrugated drainage hose. Basically like you show but with small holes in it and larger diameter. they tape the end so the back pressure makes ti come out of the hose. You can put frozen water bottles and small ice packs in it. I like the DIY Vortex cooler based on DeathLord's he sells I also show (I thought of using the cube shape) or the trash can (easiest to make). A CountZero lawn and leaf bag on the outlet slows down the velocity.

  • @seansmith4440
    @seansmith4440 4 года назад +1

    Why use the plastic tube, which has horrible heat exchanging properties, to insulate the hot fog away from the ice? Why not use aluminum dryer duct, which has excellent heat exchanging properties, instead? Why use any tube at all and let the fog touch the ice and really cool down? also pull the fog machine 4 inches away from the inlet of the chiller that way the fog touches the air first. You'll see a big difference. That's the way it's designed. Don't feel bad though it's a common mistake. good luck.

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  4 года назад

      We didnt want any fog coming from inside the house half the fog leaked out and floated up if we had it set back even a little. We plumbed the fog over 40' on the bottom and 20' on the top plastic hose was just cheaper. To be honest we didn't need any ice the fog cooled down from traveling through the long tubes. We hardly ever put ice in the can. It would stay inside the tubes and cooled until the next burst pushed the old one all the way through. It worked really well for us but Im sure there are other better ways.
