As always, I enjoyed your Flosstube episode and seeing your lovely WIPs. That reversible sampler looks hard!! Love the Red Deer. Hope the showing goes well and that you are able to be back in Kentucky soon.
I love your red deer! You have so many beautiful projects. Best wishes on the house showing. I truly look forward to your next video! Thanks for sharing.
I just finished Red Deer and she is hanging on my wall! It was so much fun to stitch! The letters on the bottom are her name, Hannesje Zoet . I did space her name a bit to make it easier to read. Her last name means “sweet” in Dutch.
Loved seeing you tonight Karen. That Red Deer is going to rival Jane as an amazing finish. Never heard of the Montenegrin stitch so that sent me down a very interesyrabbit hole tonight. The book is available on Amy Wittens website & at Traditional Stitches in Canada. Hope you are able to source a copy. Hope the viewing goes well. It's a stressful time selling a property. Enjoy your stitching. See you in a couple of weeks. Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪
Thank you so much, Anne Marie. I did ultimately get the book. I am so late in responding to comments this time. Sorry. No luck on the house yet. Fingers crossed. Happy stitching. Best, K
Thanks for the heads up on DMC floss. I just bought a bunch and 924 blue has a dot, too, as well as 3801, 816, 321 (all reds). I’ll have to make sure not to mix with old threads. Good luck on Red Deer. Also good luck on selling your place in Florida. Happy stitching!
Thank you so much for your comment. It will be a new world having to be careful about different dye lots on DMC, won't it? Thanks for watching. Best, K
Your red deer is so close! I can’t wait to see it finished, as I’m sure you can’t wait either. I love all your planned projects. Fingers crossed on the house showing.
Great to see you again, super progress on lovely Red Deer. The sampler Anne Ohman is so beautiful, i hope you can get to that one. Good luck with the showing.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. I always think I have so much to share that I will have a long video. Then I zip through everything in so little time. I need a director to slow me down. Happy stitching. Best, K
Your Red Deer sampler is stunning. Montenegrin stitch when it's changing directions is challenging, I would try either Traditional Stitches or Attic Needlework for the Amy Mitten book. I've also used The Proper Stitch by Darleen O'Steen for Montenegrin instructions
Thanks for the visit! Your stitching is beautiful, and you are positioned so well to get some great finishes! I have started too many SALs for 2024, so will content myself with "Finishes for Now" as I complete monthly sections of the pieces.
Thank you! You too! It is very easy to get distracted with all of the fun SALs going on out there. As long as you are loving the stitching, it doesn't matter. Best, K
So good to see you again, Karen; you look lovely in that beautiful gold sweater! Red Deer, oh my...what a short way to a wonderful finish! Loved seeing Ann Gott..it is on my wish list as well. I hope your showing is a huge success and you can celebrate with new additions to your Stash!! xoxo
I think that Amy Mitten piece was a chart that taught the stitch. There were various ones but I have not seen them for many years. There are various books with different stitches explained, or maybe a RUclips that would demonstrate the stitch. I use Fathers B’s 21st century Book of stitches but it is basically a chart of stitch and explanation.
Red Deer is looking fabulous, almost done! Maybe there is a RUclips you can watch for the Montenegrin stitch. Fingers crossed for your camper showing! Marilyn
Karen your stitching is Beautiful and I can see why you want to finish Red Deer . It is such a stunning piece. On finding your book for the new stitch.- ebay and etsy might be a source . Good luck with your upcoming showing. Great info on DMC. Fun FT.
I was so excited to see you working on a band Sampler and the Montenegrin stitch. I just purchased a book and plan to make that a goal for learning this year. You’re always up to so many fun things and I enjoyed visiting with you this morning.❤
Susan, Thank you so much for commenting on my video. I am really up for the challenge of learning specialty stitches. Now, if I could only learn to count more accurately! Happy stitching. Best, K
When on your way to Florida from Kentucky you may pass close to me if you travel I-24…or do you go I-75? If you are on I-24, then you could drop off and we could meet and maybe I could help with reversible stitches. I did the Loara Standish sampler…all stitches reversible. Now, I will say…no Montenegrin as Joanne Harvey discovered that what she thought was Montenegrin wasn't. The trick to reversible is that there are multiple passes of the thread…much heavier look than just cross stitch. You're welcome to come visit and see my Loara sampler…it is framed so you can see the back. I’m in Tullahoma, TN…exit 111 on I-24…then a 20 minute drive from the interstate!
That would have been fun! We do travel I-75 as it goes right through our town in KY. I appreciate your generous offer. Maybe we can work that out sometime. I have seen pics of the Standish sampler. It is amazing and very tempting. Happy stitching. Best, K
Always great to see you Karen. I thought of you this morning when hearing of a small plane crash in your area, and prayed you were ok. Or my! I've got to get back to the Red Deer! Yours is looking fabulous! Nicola Parkman is always ready to help you with her samplers of you contact her by email. Those specialty stitches can be a buggar.
I have thought about contacting her, but email is a very clumsy way to describe a problem. Anyway, I ultimately got the book I was looking for. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. Happy stitching. Best, K
I’m also doing Sheri’s Winter Camp. I’m still looking for an appropriate project. Shuffleboard club sounds awesome. I few years ago the whole family vacationed in Myrtle Beach. My then 9 year old grandson wanted to play shuffleboard every day. We had a great time.
Kathy, Yes, shuffleboard is lots of fun. It is a game of skill and strategy. If you only have one, but not the other, you won't succeed. Good luck finding a project for winter stitch camp. Happy stitching. Best, K
The Red Deer is quite an accomplishment, I'd have a hard time putting it down too. Good thing I stitch primitive, so not matching colors is okay by me. But if I did "fancy" samplers I'd be concerned about DMC floss color changes. Hoping your place sells quickly! My sister lives in Vero Beach and I don't visit, fire ants are my nemesis 😳
I signed up for the Mrs Parkman Academy to learn some of those stitches. That will be my next start… oh, and what count do you stitch on while traveling? I’ve just spent 13 hours in the car and maybe stitched for 30 minutes all together. Heading back home from Florida to Tennessee…did nothing today (and it was flat) tomorrow is the stretch through the mountains…won’t be stitching at all! I listened to your floss tube!
I have never been able to stitch in the car. Not because of car sickness, but I can't see well enough and the fabric moves. It is just too frustrating to try. (IMHO) Let me know what you think of Mrs Parkman's Academy. I will probably give that a try too. Best, K
Karen, also another video showing the stitch was good, that you might be able to follow, except she didn’t speak English. Watching might still help you
Fantastic progress on Red Deer Sampler! I lovingly referred to the lower middle motif the “large pot of psychedelic flowers.” Did you try Needle in a Haystack for “Autopsy of the Montenegrin Stitch Exhumed;” it was a spiral bound flip book they offered at one time. Happy stitching! 🧵🪡
Red dear is coming along beautifully. Thanks. Enjoyed
And I love your Red Deer!
Your Red Deer sampler looks fabulous! I agree. Stick with her and get to a finish.
Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
Karen...your information and patterns are beautiful ❤❤
Oh, the Red Dear-So lovely! Great progress! ❤
Beautiful stitching Karen. Love the Red Dear, nearly there. The pattern Anna Ohman is lovely, very tempting! Happy stitching
