    I heard about Battery Tender many years ago. But I’ve only started using one recently, which I bought from our dealer (they have a private label version).
    Definitely has saved our battery several times. We’re going to get the ring terminals installed the next time we need to take the vehicle into the dealer.

      "Been using Battery Tender" - Me too. But folks should also know that they will dry out your cells if continuously plugged in (It in fact heats up the cells, this KILLS your battery !). Better to have these battery Tenders first plugged into a TIMER; I set mine for only four hours a day. This allows the battery to cool down & not get to the point of 'boiling'; less chance of drying out the battery electrolytes (lifeblood of the battery).

    The easiest way to preserve a car battery is to simply disconnect it whenever the vehicle is not in use for any great period of time. I'm on my 11th year with the same battery doing so, I only use the car in the summer months. Starts like a champ every single time, I've never had to charge or jump it.

    I plugged in my 1.25 A charger 'Battery Tender Plus', like your 4 Amp charger, to my handheld spotlight ( came with a plug socket like your scooter) and the orange and green alternate in flashing. My battery is a 12 volt and I'm guessing it means it's 80% charged . Never seen the orange and green flash alternately before. I did check the plug for POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE to make sure the plug was on it ok. I also just replaced this battery and used it a few times also. The green 12v light stays solid.

    I've been using the Battery Tender Jr for at least 3 years now. I just this morning threw one of the ring terminal hook ups to my 95 f150s battery. I haven't threw one on my wife's 2019 Escape yet. I also have the clips right now on our van since Iowa is really cold during the winter. Is it safe to use the battery tender while battery is still connected to the vehicle. My vehicle has a lot of bells and whistles such as cell service so I can access the vehicle information with a mobile app. I don’t want to disconnect the battery from the vehicle but I also want to maintain the battery since I work from home and drive the vehicle maybe once a week for about 15 miles round trip. I also have a dash cam with parking mode that is constantly powered on. My concern is the charger would do something to the vehicle components and/or dash cam.

    • @TechMadeEzy
      @TechMadeEzy  Год назад +1

      If I understand your question, you don’t need to disconnect your battery from the vehicle to use the battery tender the battery tender is really a trickle charger. So your battery stays connected to your vehicle and you simply connect the battery tender to trickle charge your battery in cases where you’re not using the vehicle for a while.

      you do not need the 3 or 4 amp unit.
      For maintenance only, the .75 or the .80 unit will take care of the battery just fine. It will cycle the voltage, keep the voltage topped off and desulfate the battery. You can leave it on all of the time without any danger to the battery or the system. Really not necessary to be on all of the time though. You can use it on other batteries as necessary. Unless your truck has an electrical issue causing battery drain, you should only need to use the Tender about once a month for a couple of days to keep the truck battery in good condition...

You remove the nut, slide the ring terminal onto the bolt, screw the nut back on. Now, run the cable to an opening between the grill in front of your car. Make sure the cable is zip tied so it doesn't hit any moving parts. Now, you don't even have to open the hood to hook it up.

      If you have caps that means the battery is new, take them off and throw them away if you will be using the battery
