That’s a good topic Steve. The only use I have for the maintainers is stuff that’s parked for the winter but the other day I went to use my truck....the first time in a few like 3 mounts and it didn’t start...... I know what your talking about ....you don’t want that maintainer to be a parasitic draw on the battery when your using the truck and just park it for a few days before the next use....good one....we have to cover all angles.....CHEERS
Gator for many today replacing a battery or a no start is a trip to a shop so a low cost maintainer may be a good thing to consider. I have not had a no start in a very long time , maybe back in the 80's LOL
I have never used a battery maintainer. Nice set up Steve. Good video info! My wife retired Dec. 31st. I had to replace her battery because she doesn't go anywhere much.
I absolutely love my battery tenders! I keep 6 or so batteries on the bench in the basement for winter and every time I go down there I cycle the tender to the next battery to keep them topped off. I keep permanent tenders on the utv as it still gets used but not often in the winter months! Thanks for sharing Steve!
Very interesting Steve. Great to see so many different types to see the differences and which will work and not draw battery charge when it’s off or having to fiddle with settings every time it’s unplugged. Thanks Buddy!
Lots to consider and you covered the bases. The importance of circuitry is something I may have overlooked. For the permanent mount build quality (weather proof cables etc) is also important 👍
Steve buy the Battery Tender WP800. It is the same physical design as your new device, but better because it is waterproof and nearly indestructible. I have 3. Considering the abuse I've put them through, they shouldn't still be working.
Thanks Steve. I have some cars I rarely use, so the batteries suffer because of sitting for a month or two, or even three. Looking to have them on a cord between uses. This was helpful.
Have you measured to see what they all draw when not plugged in to 120v? Even with the led off, it could still draw some amps. I would be curious to know. Also, i will go look for your video on how you set these up onboard your vehicle.
I have the old US 3300 Ctek and never had problems. Charged up 6 truck batteries that were labeled dead abd not chargeable. I had a Weathertech that looked like a battery tender and it sucked.
I want to keep my battery maintained for a month at a time sitting outside during the winter in NE Tennesse. I will only drive the vehicle once a month to go into town about 45 minutes away (Highway driving). The maintainer will be plugged in for 30 days at a time. So which battery maintainer will suit my needs?
@@Powerfade54 This is my favorite one that is designed for exactly your needs . Cheers 👍 NOCO GENIUS2D, 2A Direct-Mount Onboard Car Battery Charger, 12V Automotive Battery Charger
How's she goin'? This is interesting to me Steve!! I have not had good luck with battery maintainers, so I'm looking forward to seeing this install. Take care!!!
Hard to find a decent charger anymore their all light weight digital units . I have an old transformer unit made for the last 60 years and never fails .
Is it safe to use a maintainer on a brand new battery installed on a car that won’t be driven but once a week? Also, can you put your Maintainer on the jump posts instead of directly on the battery? My battery is buried under a bunch of plastic components. And one more question: can you use a battery maintainer to supply your cars computer while swapping out a battery?
@@SteveRobReviews I appreciate your time. So should I just use a jump start pack when swapping out batteries to keep the computers going? A trickle charger? Or is there a special device needed? Thanks
@@SteveRobReviews awesome. Thanks. So it’s an OBD plug memory saver! Oh, and you said it was ok to use a battery maintainer on a new battery? I can’t access the battery itself, so it’s ok to use the maintainer on the jump posts to maintain the battery?

Thanks Doug , one dead battery day is a lot of aggravation LOL
You brought a lot of things to consider to the table when looking for a battery maintainer.
There is a lot to consider and the instillation will be just the same. Cheers Lloyd
@SteveRobReviews buying multiple products for your videos could be a tax write off.
Good point! Some makers add bells and whistles to dazzle the consumer into bying their products.
Thanks Steve✌
They do make a lot of fancy charge modes claims but in reality I'm only wanting a reliable charger not a rocket ship 😅😅
Lots to consider and you covered the bases. The importance of circuitry is something I may have overlooked. For the permanent mount build quality (weather proof cables etc) is also important 👍
I imagine the OEM's have stayed away from these as an option because of the liabilities as some live in areas where vermin chew a lot of wires.

I did look at them too , at the time $80 seemed far too expensive but it seems everything has gone up in price with so many shortages.
i couldn't find a deltran wp 800
Thanks Steve. I have some cars I rarely use, so the batteries suffer because of sitting for a month or two, or even three. Looking to have them on a cord between uses. This was helpful.
Thanks for taking a look 👍
is there a particular battery tender that you settled on that you would recommend? i'm in the market for one too.
@fall back this is my favorite so far , low cost and great for just maintaining. a.co/d/0LgtWIg
@@SteveRobReviews how is it in any way better than the noco genius 5?
@fall back Their all pretty good so it's individual experience. I have never tried that brand.
Right, peolpe don't think about the draw, they look at the ma's and buy. I started using a 15 watt solar with a 3 amp reg/charger. so far so good.
15w is plenty , I have three solar panels at the camp charging batteries over the winter all 2w 😅😅 Take Care Buzz
That pretty smart Steve I wonder how you kept everything starting and it that cold we have one cold day or two and nothing wants to crank!
Vehicles today have so much electronics , very hard on batteries. You could rig one of these up too Annie.

Yes absolutely I checked to make sure unplugged they did not have a draw.
I have 3 batteries tender junior i love them my riding tractor my 2 old cars for 5 years and still doing good the battery always ready Togo
👍

The ctek is rock solid as I've used that so much and it just keeps on going 👍
Awesome video. I never use maintainers. I just old school use battery chargers on 2 amps awesome video. 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
Thanks Badge , old school works good too 👍
Good info here Steve - thanks for the video and enjoy the day. Cheers, Ed

So good info there my friend. I have one that's 7 stage desulphate, works great but not sure about the desulphate feature.
Thanks
It works , as far as my battery tester says but all 7 modes I haven't a clue what that's all about 😅
@@SteveRobReviews Lol my moto is if it works thats good enough. 🤔
I just buy the most expensive charger & maintainer for sale to the general public! Got to be the best since the only one made in the U.S.A.😊
👍

Glad you enjoyed it!

Mike I seen the one you had and it did not say if the power was disconnected it would shut down the readings. This spring hopefully on the install.
@@SteveRobReviews I think the one I got only uses 120 AC power and would have no drain on the battery, but I'll check to make sure!!!
Good job pal. Hope all is well up there. Cheers

Good evening Sir, great informative video and very important check point to check before buying 👌👍😉 Keep warm Sir and thank you Cheers 😉👍👌🍻

Great video Steve. And not a bad price at all.
Thanks Eric , very reasonable price . Cheers 👍
I've got a few of those. I do need a decent charger though

Even with your review the tender junior is a long way ahead all your other one the junior is simple and excellent tender by far
Battery tender makes good products.
Good presentation, Steve. I learned a few things. Thank you.
Thanks very nice of you to say👍
I will have to first see what chemistry the battery is before I buy one..not sure what chemistry mine is in 2023 rav4 hybrid..
Good idea 👍
Whats best for leaving my 2023 rav 4 hybrid in Florida for 4 months?thanks..
The Battery Tender brand is very reasonably priced and the two I have are both very old and dependable.
The 800 mah Tender is fine for a common 24F battery?
Great tips sir. thanks for sharing :)
Thanks !!!
Great information!!
Thanks 👍

Mine is so old and not made in China. If yours is marked made in China, its pretty much done .
