Now I am sure there is footage somewhere of Jason Merkel talking about new UMX planes and suggesting that the Timber X was one of those models that could not be scaled down to UMX size but here it is! I am done with my larger Timber X as its just too stressful but this small version is the ideal plane to throw around with no consequences and I no longer have to keep forcing my UMX Timber to do stuff the poor old thing is not designed for. Very well done Horizon Hobby, a perfect little plane for more demanding pilots!
Hand launching that plane to show how "SAFE" mode works was the best.... reminded me when I was hand launching my 2 channel gliders to help adjust control rods and basic trim... I knew I was done when I launched my glider and it flies straight and true..
So I got a carbon cub 1.2 meter, I took my first flight, and of course I'd didn't see the tree limb, until it was to late. So found the tree limb lol, anyways it still flew great, that was a week ago, so today 6/17/22, I took it to my local school, and it was a great big space. It flew so great, I was so excited, I even got into the intermediate mode. It was so fun, THANKS BRIAN, for getting me into this hobby,
Larry - AWESOME! So much more fun in your immediate future!!! I'm so excited for you. You're gonna get hooked, I can already tell! Good for you, and keep it up! There will be some frustrations, but once you get the bug, you will literally be unstoppable. I don't even worry if I can fly a plane anymore, it just happens...now, I do have to worry about the speed for landings and size of strip and these sort of "analytical" items, bus as far as flying, my brain does it, and I don't even "think" about it anymore...you will be here too, if you stick with it. I know you don't believe me right now, but you will get to the point where you won't even think about it...it's a kinda strange thing, but awesome too!!! In fact, if I "think about it" I crash - LOL!!!!!
I’m loving this era of 3S UMX planes! I picked up the new Pitts and am blown away by the speed and scale aerobatics it can do. This one is a little less my speed but I can see how the 3S power would be awesome for floats. BTW I still have the original UMX Timber and it’s going strong after 5+ years. Great video, thanks!
Soooooo, I click the video, see you holding a umx with huge ailerons and used your link to get it ordered while listening to the video... got back to the flight at the end of the 2 min mark. I have the umx pitts and turbo timber, this will be awesome... thanks Megan & Brian
Was a little skeptical that this was just a sales pitch, but got mine yesterday and flew it today, what an awesome little plane, so much fun flys like a dream.
Another Great presentation by you and the camera crew. This looks like a must have. Just ordered a Trojan T28 1.1 through your link. Thanks again and Happy Fathers Day!
Ultra light! Wow that is so small but it has really good landing gear so uncommon for something that small! Loving it 😍, “be prepared to fly it like you stole it”. Epic! Touch and go baby!
I have a Night Timber X that I literally white-knuckle and take 2 breaths in the 5:00 minutes it flies (all 5 flights, lol). I swear half the grey hair on my head came from my Timber X! This UMX Timber appears to be a lot less of a panic attack inducing handful, maybe I can fly a Timber and not feel like I'm gonna have a stroke...lol. As always the Crew Chief did a great job filming the episode, keep up the great work!
I have the UMX turbo Timber and it flies great. When I saw this, initially I wasn't excited about it. Your video has changed my mind. Very nice little plane! 👍
Hopefully whatever direction I changed your mind too was positive - Sometimes we talk people OUT of planes too ;) LOL - but seriously, if it's garbage, we want you guys to know...there's a ton of AMAZING planes out there, no reason to waste time on poor choices (right?). Thanks for being here MWall711
Something I noticed with the UMX Turbo Timber when using flaps. The elevator mix from the flap system menu works like a trim. That causes not only the neutral position to move but also the end points. That can result in movement over (and under) 100 of the elevator. To adjust for this, I set travel to 150 and absolute travel to 100. Absolute travel, at least on the DX is based on a digital range to 2048. So the ends are something like 300 and 1700 (or around that). Be aware of that because when you start to adjust that, you won’t see any change for a long time. Basically, hold the control full throw in the direction you want to adjust. Make the adjustment until you see it come off 100+. No need for the plane to be powered on. Probably worth checking this on this plane on the ailerons also in all the flaperon combinations.
I can't wait for this to hit the UK stores - very excited for it. Brian, you were very cool after the 'prop hang' incident - like you intended to land straight afterwards ;) I video most of my flights just for moments like that :)
Exactly - UMX'es are a blast, and great way to introduce your neighbors to the very positive side of RC...since some might think it's all drones trying to spy on them.
This will definitely be in my hanger when it is released. Seems like a very fun little plane to fly. Already have the UMX Pitts and A10 and really enjoy flying both of those.
My wife just bought this plane for me ( yep, I had her follow your links👍) along with a 3s bat and charger. Can't wait for it to arrive on the front step! The Nx8 is just way out of the budget. I'm hoping to find a used Dx6e for this beautiful plane, when it arrives. The Horizon website lists the Dx6e as a compatible transmitter. Brian, in your VAST experience, will the Dx6e fly this plane? I know you really try to get folks to use the NX line. But, we really had to scrape the barrel to purchase the plane, bat, etc. I know you're really busy. I am SO grateful for you and Megan- sorry- the camera crew. And I'm just super excited to get FLYING!!👍 PS-This is my 50th bday gift. And I'm hoping one of my 3 boys (they're 19,22&23 yrs old) will join me when they see how much fun I'm having.
Nice job guys . I love the UMX planes . This is a great addition with some awesome features , The ball link connectors are a nice surprise . I've been having a ton of fun with the UMX Pitts on 3S , so I ordered one of these yesterday . I have 2 Turbo Timbers , which is another awesome plane , but they won't take a 3S and it's harder to do 3D with them .
Yes! Exactly, the Turbo Timber UMX is one of the best UMX planes of all time, but now we have this Timber X as a serious competitor ;) Now we need the F-16 UMX back, and F-14 ALREADY!!!!!!!
I had to turn the elevator and Rudder ball links 6 turns in (shorten) to both center the rudder (with zero TX trim) and to get the plane to fly level w/o SAFE on and mid-throttle. There is an addendum paper in the box (mine was part of the first 600 pc batch) and now an updated PDF manual on the website for the CG of 56mm, etc. I did have to do the enable of the flaperons feature on mine. Very fun bird on 3S!
Thank you for your advice, we always see you every day, I am fond of flying planes and helicopters, we send you greetings from Vancouver, Canada. regards to Megan. you two are a great team thanks for your lovely video channel
I was flying my sport cub s (in the wind and I know I shouldn't lol) and was wishing it had bigger tires and more power so I might have to get one of these beauties. Great video guys.
Awesome video Brian and camera crew! I really liked how you explain SAFE and AS3x, you guys are awesome! Very new to the hobby and flying giant scale Beaver and Cessna 150Z. Didn’t much like the Carbon Cub for the cartoonish look and tight battery tray. Got used to the Beaver being more scale and flying Dubro tires.
i know this is an old plane but finially decided to pull the trigger just thought id come here first. gs hobby my first stop before draggin to worke late. thanls bryan and camera crew
The transmitter you are using is a DX6E and I’m trying to bind my Spektrum SLT6LP transmitter to the timber. I have bonded the transmitter with a different aircraft before and I’m wondering if I can bind it to a new aircraft (in this case the timber) When trying to bind the remote to the plane, the timber gives a flashing blue and red light and when trying to bind neither the plane nor remote respond in any way. If you have any idea what’s happening here I would really appreciate it! ❤ Thanks Brian!
No, we were using an NX6, NOT the DX6e, a transmitter we've never used. The SLT6LP (RTF) transmitter you're trying to use will only bind with a select few "MULTI-PROTOCOL" planes. Slow Ultra Stick UMX (Dual Protocol - INCLUDES DSMX) 700mm STOL Apprentice UMX (Dual Protocol - INCLUDES DSMX) ...so far... There are a few more coming soon, but also, keep in mind some RTF's coming with the SLT6LP are NOT dual protocol, like the brand new Blade Revo 90 FP, which uses SLT, but not dual protocol, therefore NOT DSMX :(... Hope this helps! You can't do what you're trying to do, unfortunately.
Yes! Now this is one that I'm excited for! So glad I waited and didn't get the Pitts. I mean, I'll probably still get one, but this is now priority... And the F-14.. (If it doesn't get delayed again) haha I've really been wanting a umx 3d or even a 3d profile plane really bad here lately. Something I could just mess around with in front of the house. This looks super nice and super FUN!! Great video, Brian!
Another great video and review (Also just finished the Saylors' review}... this new offering is kinda like my UMX TT on steroids. I like it, the upgraded linkage and power is really nice. Aside: Brian do you think you could set up, using two leads, flaperons on the Aeroscout 1.1 and still keep SAFE and AS3X?
Not sure if you could on the aeroscout. I know you could with a new Rx, but that's a lot of cash for what you'd have in the aeroscout. Full length flapperons would be nice.
Like the way this flies. Beautiful little plane. Checking out the UMX line of planes. So far this one, A 10 and Night Vapor. Already own the Night Vapor for indoors during Wisconsin winter. Great video, thank you.
I've crashed before, and I'll crash again. I don't get nervous about what I understand. Practice helps a lot, but even if I crash, I understand better now then I did when I was new, that it's not the end of the world, but it does lead to a lot of wasted time...
@@BrianPhillipsRC I just looked at HH website manual. I don’t see any addendum. Manual is wrong for wingspan shown on the shadow drawing on p. 3. It shows 700mm. Should be 570mm.
Nice. I just got the UMX Turbo Timber. It was a toss up between the X but ultimately flaps won out. Pretty good punch for 2S but gee whiz Eflite for the money, can you at least put a plastic spinner on it? lol. For what it costs in Canada ($209.99) it really should be like an FMS with clear windows and some plastic details and hard points. The leading edge slats lasted about five minutes..dumb me I had the windows open in the car and it moved and torn one off. My 10 year old UMX Sback will still crush anything ;) You are def good with the sticks!
I have definitely noticed that this new plane has plastic tail and elevator holders. Because anyone who has flown the UMX Timber or Turbo Timber, the rudder can just fall off. Same with the tail wheel. Definitely going to be the next plane in my collection 👍
Great informational videos as usual. ALSO the camera wife does a great job. One question. How much time did you get from that 3s 300mah battery. Let me know please. THANKS.
so its smaller has 3s and big old ailerons ? the umx timber had (if im not wrong) the biggest wing of any umx , you put it next to an ultra micro p51 and the timber looks huge ,but also flew really good , hopefully this smaller one flys great also
I change the velcro in every plane to the right piece...the hook side of velcro. The loop is what goes on the battery. Less hair and what not on the batts
Hobbyking approached us, and we respectfully declined to work with them. It was MORE about their TERMS than their planes, but to be honest, I remember dealing with Hobbyking when things WEREN'T going well - their warranty was a joke. You had to argue with them for hours and I would get so pissed, and never get any help. It's such a far cry from what we get from Horizon Hobby, that even though I'd love to hit them up on a few select planes, I just don't need to go back to "Dynam" planes. They have a time and place...limited budget, and LOTS of time/effort to make them fly well...and there's a huge market for that, but honestly, I'm not there - way too busy for the hassle, but someone who has the time might LOVE their stuff!
I clicked on your link for the plane and 2 batteries. I should be getting it today. My larger Night Timber X has some sort of problem where the low battery warning goes off 1 minute into the flight. I think somethings wrong with it but cannot pinpoint what it actually is. Very frustrating. I hope this one fills the gap until I figure out what the issue is. I fly the bigger one in my neighborhood and can put around with it, but as soon as I goose the throttle it gives me the triple tone alarm. It's either a servo, Rx or the ESC causing the problem. The same batteries work fine in my Commander (which is my favorite plane that I'm flying right now).
Can you go into the TELEMETRY AUDIO WARNINGS and make sure they're set to a reasonable level? This can be annoying!!!!!!!!! But might be just a setting that needs to be adjusted.
...sometimes this alarm will start early and then it locks out your screen! I hope this IS what you're fighting, since the alternative would be a bad battery, more than likely.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I can't seem to find that menu. Is this only accessible when the plane battery is connected? I just don't see where this warning is being set.
A bit like the aarows pioneer 620mm, but better with flaperons and lights. However not rtf, but in most cases that's better. Although, after flying bigger birds, I don't want to go back to something this small. Lol. 😁 I'm spoiled now.
PSA- 3s 800mAh flies pretty heavy in this plane. You need to grease every landing. Otherwise you're picking up pieces of UMX off the landing strip. But, dang! It'll go darn near half an hour (I'm primarily flying in SAFE as a very new pilot) 👍
what if you first glued a strip of that shelf liner to the loop Velcro and then wrapped it around the battery so the shelve liner contacts the battery! Then it would not be able to slip out of the loop of Velcro wrapped around the battery. I really like that shelf liner.
Ich fliege dieses Wahnsinns Modell auch und bin begeistert. Was ein unglaubliches tolles Flugzeug. Fliegen auf engsten Raum, dazu noch kompletten Kunstflug, der Pure Wahnsinn. Ps: Am Montag kommt die zweite Timber X🤪🔥🔥🔥
They just announced this release and you have the review up the same day. What about the new eflite Corsair? Is there gonna be a delay on that release?
Hello, new to flying and was thinking of getting the Sports Cub S until I saw the new UMX Timber X! Do you think the UMX Timber is ok for a new flyer who never flew? I know the Sports Cub is for beginners, but I think in the long run this will be more fun. I'm also going to get the RealFlight simulator as well. What you think?
You won't believe me until you're doing it, since the differences between these planes is subtle... Start with the Sport Cub S2 UMX Then upgrade to the Turbo Timber UMX OR the Timber X UMX
Brian I love your Videos, I just watched the UMX Timber. My question regards a AreoScout and a nose gear repair. Should Use CA or FOAM to FOAM for the repair? IF you would like a pic I'll be glad to send one. Thank You, Tracy
Not sure what you did to it? Are you just reattaching the HOUSING that holds the nose gear bogey, or are you trying to fix the HOUSING? If you're just gluing it back in, then I'd go for FOAM TO FOAM, but if you're trying to glue the housing back together, you'll probably need to try CA, then FOAM TO FOAM it back into the correct position.
Tough call. Both great, and both great on 3S .... I would usually decided based on what ELSE you have - use this to help you decide. For example, if you have Turbo Timber UMX, you might get the Pitts first...but if you DON'T have the Turbo Timber UMX, then this one would be a great choice. Pitts bit.ly/3IUkTrF Timber bit.ly/3OjD6jf
Yes I have the umx turbo timber and had the timber x full size sold it and just ordered another. I ordered the pitts today but wanted to wait for your response. Thanks again
Hi Brian you are the best in videos! I fly the aeroscout in intermediate mode at the club field with the buddy box system. I have more fun flying the hobby cub S2 at the school field, less stress!😊 Should I get the turbo timber or the timber x ? Would the Pitts 850 be the next step after? Oh ya,Meagan is the best too!
If you're new and still buddying up, I'd definitely go for the Turbo Timber UMX FIRST, between the UMX timbers, but if you want to bypass it, I would suggest going with an Apprentice 1.2m or 1.5m...any of the "3D" planes out there will have a ton of power to weight, and while that can be helpful, it can really feed on the weaknesses of a new pilot, and make for a lot of bad habits. Just my 2 cents, and would totally understand the urge to buy this one anyway ;)
Help! Got the plan yesterday, flap option on DxE doesn't move the flaps, tried manual flaperons on/off option but the flaps shoot up vs down. Any idea how to fix the flap issue so I can fly slowly?
I can't remember on the DXe, but you can try two things. 1st (easiest) reverse the flaps servo switch. If that doesn't work, if you can set the throws for the flaps, you can set opposite values to get them to go down rather than up (POS 0: +100%; POS 1: +50%; POS 2: 0; leave ELE settings the same)
Change the flap mode from -100% to +100% and then the OTHER setting to +100% to -100%....this should change the flap direction, without undermining your ailerons. (*SHOULD*)
New Pilot (10/22) flying an Apprentice and T28 1.1 Haven't landed or taken off without safe, in flight sessions out of safe are short and stressful with a tendency to over control. Would this model help me fine tune my control movements? I would really like to hear you talk more about the movments you're making on the transmitter.
You should get the "regular" Timber UMX, BUT if you want to do 3D, later you could go to this option. The Turbo Timber UMX is just easier to fly, but not by a HUGE margin...you COULD possibly get the Timber X and have success, but you'll be more tempted to do "stupid things" - which are very fun too ;) Good luck! You'll get there. Being NEW is hard, and it does get easier, but just don't rush through the experience too fast, learning to fly is a GREAT part of the process, looking back now, so seriously savor the learning. bprc.me/Timber
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the info, I will look into it! Ahhhh yes speaking of "stupid things" I did not heed the advice of Han Solo when he said "Don't get cocky kid". Yup I got cocky and had a bad crash yesterday. Wrecked the nose but after some glue, tape and a new prop, I was back up in the air lol!
It's not better or worst...this allows for larger more dynamic ailerons, without giving up flaps. Flapperons on a FULL LENGTH AILERON is O.K. in my book ;) I go like inboard flaps, but this is a GREAT way of doing it to save weight, complexity, and it's setup out of box - as it should have always been!!!!!!!!!!
41:02 what do you mean by pitch? And did the timber x not have the jst at this time? Also I disagree about the 2s. I enjoy flying 3s but the 2s is enjoyable aswell. And imo is more of a challenge, therefore good to use both. 3s will save you in a recovery. Gotta plane your energy at times with 2s, Also you can use a bigger(capacity) 2s. There is some benefit in my book I take both, even for my timber x umx. Although when using 2s I prefer the pitts or something similar. But again I like both options. If I had to pick one it would certainly be 3s.
Trying out my 3s 800mAh in mine today. Gonna fly the wings off it! ...or more likely, crash the everything off it 😅 But if you ain't crashin', you ain't flyin',👍
Similar in Size, Looks, easy to fly, but performance is better, and quality of build is better too. Less light duty construction, but also thicker parts. These UMX'es have come a LONG WAY!
Should be able to bind, but not 100% sure on SAFE Select assignment since you can't access Forward Programming. If I were you, I'd think about getting into an NX8 before prices get any more out of hand...but I get everyone has a budget...I know we're blowing ours up badly right now ;(
Is the umx turbo timber better for STOL, slow speed flying with its lightly bigger wing span and smaller motor? I love slow flying and taking off and landing a lot
Nice video Brian and crew. I have the basic UMX Timber and it has been a nice learning plane for me. Just curious which plane you would recommend for an beginner/intermediate rc pilot between the OMP Hobby S720 or this UMX Timber X. I have the S720 and I love the hardware and build quality but I am not a fan of the overactive gyro even in the acrobatic mode... and I have already ditched the stock radio. I know you have flown both so I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!
I think the UMX Timber X is a way better plane - hands down. If those are your picks, go with that plane! That being said, as a beginner/intermediate, there are about 500 great choices ;) Gotta get on www.BrianPhillipsRC.com and see what wets your whistle!!!
Brain, how do you unclip the ball link for the rudder? Mine is way off and I don't want to push hard. Most BNF blanes I have have the plastic clips wit piece of fuel hose... I seems like an upgrade but do you need a special tool? Mine is was off and I need to make a sizable adjustment thx Rob
Can you get it from INSIDE??? OR just pry it off with pliers...but you gotta be super careful!!! Can you fly it first and see how bad it really is...sometimes it seems worse than it ends up being, in flight.
Apprentice 100%, every day, all day, hand down - you hit the NAIL on the head ;) Thank you Here's some actually great beginner planes...if you reject my suggestions and get the UMX Timber X, I won't be mad, but just remember you need to check your expectations on how well you'll fly it as a brand new pilot. @@BrianPhillipsRC Can I add one to your list - FMS Super EZ (FMS - FMM122PX). You haven't reviewed but it is one of the easiest yet capable planes I've ever flown. Comes with a gyro/stabilizer and floats! And BTW, just got my UMX Timber X I ordered from your link - can't wait to get it in the air.
Hey Brian - Loved this vid (as I do all of them)! I have a question about the ball links. Have you tried your ball link pliers on the UMX Timber X? I want to get a pair but didn't know if the ones I see on the various web sites fit these small balls :) Thanks!
I didn't need to, but hope they do work. They're small, as you said, but I suspect they'll work with the ones I have. Don't mean to mislead, but I have been getting by without for decades, so in a pinch, I suspect you can get by. If you KNOW you're gonna need to pull it apart and insist on using them, maybe there's a small set you can buy??? I don't think I'll do this, since I don't expect I'll be playing with my balls all that much ;)
Have you flown the mini pioneer 650mm? I’m debating on it or the umx timber x for a small plane to fly in smaller places when I don’t want to go all the way to the field
I've been here - where have YOU been - LOL ;) I had another subscriber complain that he was Unsubscribed!??!?! I visited one of my subscriptions, that I too was unsubscribed from....hope you weren't victim to the same annoyance with RUclips.
I just looked & it said "SUSCRIBE" so appairently youtube have been dicking around with people! Anyways i hit to "re-suscribe" & its good to see ya! Did ya'll get the chance to watch the new Top Gun Maverick movie??? You tube had better knock it off with their crap or they're liable to end up getting sued from someone!!!
It is empirically better, but more expensive. It has brushless motor and way better features all around. This plane has all the stuff you want, but the Turbo Timber UMX might be another great choice.
Are you sure it's just not kinda crazy? This plane flies more crazy than the other UMX Turbo Timber....but not sure if that's your basis for concern. If it's ACTUALLY Tail Heavy (just from balancing it and testing) then have you considered just throwing some change in with the battery try, and see how she does? It's temporary while you figure out what's going on, but if you fly a 3D plane, and aren't used to it, it might "feel" kinda under stable, and "tail heavy" but might actually just be about right for this platform. Please forgive me if I'm miss-gauging your skills, or some such thing...I have to kinda guess in moments like this, but if I'm right, give these things a shot, and see how things turn out.
Timber X UMX is 2S and 3S while the Turbo Timber UMX is only 2S. Also, the Timber X UMX has flapperons while the Turbo Timber UMX has inboard flaps and ailerons, among a few other differences that can be seen in the videos...they're both good, but the Timber X is newer.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thats why i watch your channel, thanks! Went ahead and got a night timber because i want a night plane with stol and 3d capabilities all in one. Will probably give the timber x a shot too, looks like you could fit that plane in more places.
I'd like to share a hack, for those who like to fly the LED UMX Timber X and Turbo Evo at dusk. There's a foam safe neon yellow sharpie that reflects a UV flashlight better than markers marketed as UV reflective markers. I actually debated this with a staff member of Office depot. She recommended I get a UV marker (I already had one), "This is better." Anyway, let's say at dusk, a variable wind pushes you out of orientation. You know generally where you were but night falls. If you have a decent UV flashlight you have a shot at spotting your timber because that Neon yellow kicks back UV HARD. A UV flashlight also draws less attention. Also, I noticed during daytime, flight, The Neon yellow will pop at a distance. Stock, unilateral white foam... it's fine to keep it stock but I think neon yellow on the Timber X UMS will look sick. If I owned a UMX Timber X I'd keep the belly white but I'd sharpie the top of the wings, rudders, stabilizer. I don't lightly recommend any mods but, This night glow hack I discovered through playing night glow disc golf has merit and application for UMX Timbers. for day and night

This one is a little less my speed but I can see how the 3S power would be awesome for floats. BTW I still have the original UMX Timber and it’s going strong after 5+ years. Great video, thanks!
Totally Agree! Loving the 3S power, and love that they put on Flapperons on this, which was a cool effect!
Soooooo, I click the video, see you holding a umx with huge ailerons and used your link to get it ordered while listening to the video... got back to the flight at the end of the 2 min mark. I have the umx pitts and turbo timber, this will be awesome... thanks Megan & Brian
SWEEEEEEET! Good choices, btw ;)
Was a little skeptical that this was just a sales pitch, but got mine yesterday and flew it today, what an awesome little plane, so much fun flys like a dream.
I get it, but by know I'd hope you guys know I SUCK at faking my excitement for planes that are less than thrilling ;)
Another Great presentation by you and the camera crew. This looks like a must have. Just ordered a Trojan T28 1.1 through your link. Thanks again and Happy Fathers Day!
Good choice, and THANKS!
Ultra light! Wow that is so small but it has really good landing gear so uncommon for something that small! Loving it 😍, “be prepared to fly it like you stole it”. Epic! Touch and go baby!
Totally!
Oh yeah just what the market was lacking Another Timber Plane!!! Good Lord
Timber!! I'm falling in love😆
It totally was tho Hahaa now they need to redo the 1.3 timber x
@@flystol it is pretty large for a umx plane
At least its a t🤯p loader! Lmao!!!
@@old-rcplane-phart Good Point they did get that right
I have the UMX turbo Timber and it flies great.
Good point, and glad you mentioned this!!! I thought we could do this with just the PERCENTAGES - but I believe you're 100% right!!!
I can't wait for this to hit the UK stores - very excited for it. Brian, you were very cool after the 'prop hang' incident - like you intended to land straight afterwards ;) I video most of my flights just for moments like that :)
LOL - I can't even remember whatever I screwed up ;) LOL
this is like an absolute blast! im able to walk out front and do crazy airshows for the neighbors!
Exactly - UMX'es are a blast, and great way to introduce your neighbors to the very positive side of RC...since some might think it's all drones trying to spy on them.
Ahah nice Brian! This thing is awesome! I may have to get one! Love my Timber X 1.2m! Great camera work and flying as always!
Thanks Kyler!
This will definitely be in my hanger when it is released. Seems like a very fun little plane to fly. Already have the UMX Pitts and A10 and really enjoy flying both of those.
It is released ;)
I have the timber 1.2x. love it. I just pre-ordered this one 🥰🥰
It's a whole new UMX!
I notice that the Manual Addendum changes the CG to 56mm and the timer to 5 minutes. Great little plane! Always enjoy your reviews.
was going to send this same memo, lol
yep!
And I'm just super excited to get FLYING!!👍
PS-This is my 50th bday gift.
Yes! Exactly, the Turbo Timber UMX is one of the best UMX planes of all time, but now we have this Timber X as a serious competitor ;)
Now we need the F-16 UMX back, and F-14 ALREADY!!!!!!!
Gotta have one ! Thanks for the air show .
Yes you need it ;) Thanks!
Ah Brian!!! That's yet another rc plane you've convinced me I need ha ha ha 🙈
Excellent!
I was flying my sport cub s (in the wind and I know I shouldn't lol) and was wishing it had bigger tires and more power so I might have to get one of these beauties. Great video guys.
You can cram a bigger battery in there to help, but she won't handle much wind. Can't wait for you to get into the Turbo timber or Timber X UMX!!!
Awesome! Glad the details are helping you out, David.
i know this is an old plane but finially decided to pull the trigger just thought id come here first. gs hobby my first stop before draggin to worke late. thanls bryan and camera crew
Oh there has got to be a 3S UMX Turbo Timber in the pipeline. Just has to be. I hope.
Yeah, has to be a 3S UMX Turbo Timber Evolution release in the future..!!
I don't know??? ;)
Thanks Brian!
No, we were using an NX6, NOT the DX6e, a transmitter we've never used.
The SLT6LP (RTF) transmitter you're trying to use will only bind with a select few "MULTI-PROTOCOL" planes.
Slow Ultra Stick UMX (Dual Protocol - INCLUDES DSMX)
700mm STOL Apprentice UMX (Dual Protocol - INCLUDES DSMX)
...so far...
@@BrianPhillipsRC Oh okay…Thanks so much for helping! Also sorry for mistaking your transmitter for the NX6E. Thanks for your help though!
Yes! Now this is one that I'm excited for! So glad I waited and didn't get the Pitts. I mean, I'll probably still get one, but this is now priority... And the F-14.. (If it doesn't get delayed again) haha
I've really been wanting a umx 3d or even a 3d profile plane really bad here lately. Something I could just mess around with in front of the house. This looks super nice and super FUN!! Great video, Brian!
I can't wait for the F-14. When they release them soooooooooooo early, I think it makes people's expectations way too high, and I'm ONE OF THEM ;)
Just ordered one from your link. Thank you and Camera Crew
Thanks Michael!!!
Used your link and got it ordered 👍🏻
Thanks so much! Every little bit helps (more than you know!)
"Easy peasy" he says.. Dude your R/C skills are off the chart... She does get right up though.. Wow! That thing lifts off like a heli!
Like the way this flies. Beautiful little plane. Checking out the UMX line of planes. So far this one, A 10 and Night Vapor. Already own the Night Vapor for indoors during Wisconsin winter. Great video, thank you.
Every time you fly near the house, I get incredibly tense, how do you not freak out when you are inches away from crashing that beautiful plane?
I've crashed before, and I'll crash again. I don't get nervous about what I understand. Practice helps a lot, but even if I crash, I understand better now then I did when I was new, that it's not the end of the world, but it does lead to a lot of wasted time...
Once you become confident enough you can fly near anything, even trees which i don't recommend
Loved the one wheel roll out. I might have to work on that trick.
U got me back Into flying. It's like free school man..
NICE! Thanks!!!! Glad you got back into it Shane!
I do use your links when I get things got nx8 on 3rd plane 3rd helli.
They said it wasnt possible to do this! Glad they did though!
Well, they also said a lot of things that I kept proving them wrong on, and guess they came around ;) LOL!!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Brian Philips for president!
Interesting, the online manual at HH shows CG at 56mm not the 42mm in your book.
Addendum was in the manual, right??? Or am I miss-remembering???
Thanks ;)
I'ma have to get this one ! Takes the same battery as the new umx Pitts heck yes
Exactly!
I have definitely noticed that this new plane has plastic tail and elevator holders. Because anyone who has flown the UMX Timber or Turbo Timber, the rudder can just fall off. Same with the tail wheel. Definitely going to be the next plane in my collection 👍
Totally! So much more heavy duty, but still flies great, and very happy there's been so much improvements on the UMX'es!
@@BrianPhillipsRC most definitely!
Grabbed up one of these today. Got it set up with flaps but it’s raining outside.
Love you guys,great vid !
Thanks Mr Chicken ;)
Great informational videos as usual. ALSO the camera wife does a great job. One question. How much time did you get from that 3s 300mah battery. Let me know please. THANKS.
I can't say, but the video will tell you if you kinda check on the time stamps.
Another plane for my Hangar.
Sweet!
so its smaller has 3s and big old ailerons ? the umx timber had (if im not wrong) the biggest wing of any umx , you put it next to an ultra micro p51 and the timber looks huge ,but also flew really good , hopefully this smaller one flys great also
It's about the same size as the UMX Timber. Sorry, I should have done that!
I change the velcro in every plane to the right piece...the hook side of velcro.
The loop is what goes on the battery. Less hair and what not on the batts
Could you do more reviews on the h-king planes or even some durafly planes?
Nice review, thanks! One question, which UMX plane fly better in windy condition, this 3s UMX Timber X or 3s UMX A10 ?
The A-10 UMX, but the Timber X UMX will hold up better in general.
Just bought from your link! Appreciate your videos!
Thanks so much! You're helping to support our family, and this channel! It's noticed and appreciated!!!!
A bit like the aarows pioneer 620mm, but better with flaperons and lights. However not rtf, but in most cases that's better. Although, after flying bigger birds, I don't want to go back to something this small. Lol. 😁 I'm spoiled now.
This plane is a huge step up, but also a lot more money. That being said, the Pioneer keep Eflite on their heels ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC haha. The 1.5 turbo timber is amazing so I know the umx is good.
Found a 3s 800maH at my local hobby shop. Can't wait to cram it into my UMx TimberX and fly my damn thumbs off 👍 👍!!!
I really like that shelf liner.
yes!
Why not for my first plane? I ordered it before I watched your video

They just announced this release and you have the review up the same day. What about the new eflite Corsair? Is there gonna be a delay on that release?
That's already done ;) Can't release it for a bit ;)
Hello, new to flying and was thinking of getting the Sports Cub S until I saw the new UMX Timber X! Do you think the UMX Timber is ok for a new flyer who never flew? I know the Sports Cub is for beginners, but I think in the long run this will be more fun. I'm also going to get the RealFlight simulator as well. What you think?
You won't believe me until you're doing it, since the differences between these planes is subtle...
Start with the Sport Cub S2 UMX
Then upgrade to the Turbo Timber UMX OR the Timber X UMX
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you Brian! I will!
Brian Phillips forever, RC Sailors, never.
LOL Amazing ;)
Hey brother from another mother. Which should I purchase in your opinion. This bird or the umx pits? Thanks for your response
Tough call. Both great, and both great on 3S ....
I would usually decided based on what ELSE you have - use this to help you decide. For example, if you have Turbo Timber UMX, you might get the Pitts first...but if you DON'T have the Turbo Timber UMX, then this one would be a great choice.
Pitts bit.ly/3IUkTrF
Timber bit.ly/3OjD6jf
Sorry, but the one thing to complain about is the Price. $170 for a UMX is a bit Steep. Nice work as Always though Brian and Camera Crew.😎
Truth
That's a good price for a UMX. The tech that goes into the small planes and the convenience makes it worth the money.
Yeah I agree I'd buy more if they were 120
Thanks Paul! Everything is going up, and it's gonna suck when we get a new BIG plane...it's gonna be pucker worthy
(*SHOULD*)
Have you done a review on the Blade mCPX bl2? I just ordered one. Will be here Monday. Thanks Brian
Sorry, we haven't done that one. I wonder if we need to remind them to get one coming? Thanks for the reminder!!!
How are the STOL landing capabilities compared to the turbo?
Similar. Like, 0 inches - LOL ;)
Hey Brian do you need to charger a brand new Lipo battery right away when purchased or can you let it set for awhile. Like a month?
You can let it sit if you want. There's nothing wrong with that. I have a plane that's like 5 years old NEW in box still ;)
This is great just like it's big sister!!! Both are awsome!!!
Great videos! I'm a new rc pilot and have been flying the Volantex Sport Cub. Would this Timber X UMX be good next step? Thanks!
You should get the "regular" Timber UMX, BUT if you want to do 3D, later you could go to this option. The Turbo Timber UMX is just easier to fly, but not by a HUGE margin...you COULD possibly get the Timber X and have success, but you'll be more tempted to do "stupid things" - which are very fun too ;)
Good luck!
No slats?! And how do you like this over the Umx Turbo Timber?
Man had the turbo timber umx with flaps. How is this better. Man I'm getting new batteries lol
Gotta plane your energy at times with 2s,
Also you can use a bigger(capacity) 2s. There is some benefit in my book I take both, even for my timber x umx.
Although when using 2s I prefer the pitts or something similar. But again I like both options. If I had to pick one it would certainly be 3s.
Trying out my 3s 800mAh in mine today. Gonna fly the wings off it! ...or more likely, crash the everything off it 😅
But if you ain't crashin', you ain't flyin',👍
Great video Brian. How does this plane compared to the UMX Turbo Timber? Great job Megan. Thanks
Similar in Size, Looks, easy to fly, but performance is better, and quality of build is better too. Less light duty construction, but also thicker parts. These UMX'es have come a LONG WAY!
Newnie here considering this plane. Will this plane work with the DX6i transmitter?
Should be able to bind, but not 100% sure on SAFE Select assignment since you can't access Forward Programming.
If I were you, I'd think about getting into an NX8 before prices get any more out of hand...but I get everyone has a budget...I know we're blowing ours up badly right now ;(
Is the umx turbo timber better for STOL, slow speed flying with its lightly bigger wing span and smaller motor? I love slow flying and taking off and landing a lot
Sorry for the scam reply! We've reported and blocked that account.
Great umx airplane :) 😀
no doubt!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I will try that and thanks for the quick reply.. Thank you for super informative content !!
Would this make a good first plane trainer or would something larger such as the Apprentice STS be better?
Apprentice 100%, every day, all day, hand down - you hit the NAIL on the head ;)
Thank you
Here's some actually great beginner planes...if you reject my suggestions and get the UMX Timber X, I won't be mad, but just remember you need to check your expectations on how well you'll fly it as a brand new pilot.

The Timber is far superior, but the Pioneer is a good plane. Timber will be able to fly slower.
I wonder if the saylors got a crashed one!🤣 I love umx planes. I will get this one day. Oh yes, she will be mine !
OOps - you caught that??? ;) LOL!!!
Brian "CRASH" PHILLIPS. . . .Where ya been man??? I aint seen any of your videos in a long time!!! Sweet lil bird there. I want one🥰🥰🥰
Brian, I bought the UMX Turbo Timber EFLU6950 (red/white) How does model differ other than the yellow and white color.
We have a video of the UMX Turbo Timber - check it out ;)
Yellow and White is the UMX Timber X - modeled after the Timber X 1.2m only smaller
That shit cracks me up when you keep calling your wife camera crew
Glad you enjoy it, and it is supposed to be a joke, so glad you go it ;) Some have got all butt hurt over it, and I think that TOO is hilarious ;)
I have just ordered this plane, and I am wondering if a 450mah battery would work just fine?
Should be fine if you have an adapter.
Great plane and great review. But I have question. Would this works with 2S battery in beginners mode? No stunts,...
Thank you.
Is this better than the Hobbyzone SportsCub S2?
Or is it just a different shape, but really the same bloody thing?
It is empirically better, but more expensive. It has brushless motor and way better features all around. This plane has all the stuff you want, but the Turbo Timber UMX might be another great choice.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Wow..Sounds a big step up...many thx Brian...I'll have a serious look at it now.👍🍻
Can I bind this plane to a dx5e? And what would be the drawbacks, not worried about expo.
I wouldn't do it - you'll need more channels to make it work well.
Just got mine. I'm having major tail heavy issues
What's the difference between the timber x and the turbo timber? Because the turbo timber is bigger and sounds cooler and is $10 cheaper?
Timber X UMX is 2S and 3S while the Turbo Timber UMX is only 2S. Also, the Timber X UMX has flapperons while the Turbo Timber UMX has inboard flaps and ailerons, among a few other differences that can be seen in the videos...they're both good, but the Timber X is newer.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thats why i watch your channel, thanks! Went ahead and got a night timber because i want a night plane with stol and 3d capabilities all in one. Will probably give the timber x a shot too, looks like you could fit that plane in more places.
Hi Brian, Hi Camera Crew, Enjoy all your Videos! Very instructive. Is the Timber X suitable for indoor flying?
I don't lightly recommend any mods but, This night glow hack I discovered through playing night glow disc golf has merit and application for UMX Timbers. for day and night
would this be ok for indoor flying or is it too fast? Right now I fly a sport cub umx in the gym throughout the winter
If you have a few basketball courts, you could totally fly this plane indoors!
