I would say it’s a real thing she is singing about in a playful way. She says it: you got all that, but have you got the touch? “The touch” beeing also the chemistry and the ever elusive qualities women appreciate.

She has a lot of great songs- Here's some of my favorites: "Any Man of Mine" "Man I feel Like a Woman" "Whose Bed Have your boots been under" "Honey, I'm Home" "Ka-Ching!" "Rock This Country!" & "She's not just a Pretty Face." She does a lot of women empowerment type songs.
It goes down to men who love themselves so much. You have an intellectual who loves being right, and lords it over others. Then you have someone who loves their looks more than they can love anyone else. You also have a man who has a car, that is his true love and joy. She just wants someone who can love her for who she is. She wants substance.
In an interview, after this song came out, she did say, Yes, Brad Pitt did in fact impress her. The point is she needs, emotion, more than someone who is just one note.
This song was like the best song to blast to boost a girl's confidence when I was growing up, it's playful asf & humorous. Absolutely love Shania Twain! (Also Shania has been in the industry for I think like 30yrs+ now? She's a chart topper, go through some more of her discography like "I feel like a women")
Shania has had a lot of great songs over the years. I don't think I've ever heard a bad song from her. My favorites are her sweet slow songs, but she has some really good upbeat songs. Some songs to start with are: Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under Man! I Feel Like a Woman Any Man Of Mine You're Still The One Forever And Always When You Kiss Me From This Moment On I'm Gonna Getcha Good
Dude i remember i was like 6 year´s old in 2000 when my father drove me to school, this song was played on Radio SAW at least twice on a 15 minute drive :D
I've had a crush on Shania since I was like 4 years old lmao. I love her music, she has a huge collection of record-breaking songs that you can dive into. Also if you dive into her background it's super interesting, she grew up in poverty and went through a lot of hardship - there's even a short interview with her and Dolly Parton talking about their struggles growing up being similar (Shania is a fan of Dolly) and it's just so awesome to see that music has been a passion and an outlet for them which led them to where they are now.
My roommate in university did. We were in school back in 2000-2004 and the second roommate was bisexual and totally had a crush on her. It was certainly better than hearing Nelly’s ride wit me every morning like my first roommate played. Every. Morning. (I invested in headphones and left her to her obsession.)
It was a really big hit. Mutt Lange wrote it with her, he’s a big time producer and they were married. She’s being facetious, it’s a playful song. Her parents (her stepfather raised her and she considered him her father) were killed in a car accident when she was 22. She put her career on hold to take care of her younger siblings. She made money singing in bars to support them but she hadn’t made it yet.
SO yeah a lot of people pointed few things here and there and are right about what the song mean, but i'll just add little extras. Shania is a very grounded person and might be famous and beautiful, but never, ever had it easy inlife and is very knowledgeable of where she stand and where she come from. She might enjoy the fame and the money it gave her, but i bet you she'd trade it away, right away, if it meant she would be unhappy. She came from a very poor family, lost both of her parent, had to rise her siblings instead at a very young age. She always was close to her audience and never outdid herself really. She's an honest and natural person overall. Got Lyme disesase, fought it, disapeared from the indutry, didn't come back to music until Lionel Richi reached up to her and got her out of the blue. What she's saying in this song reflects what she wants/care/don't care from men and it's kind of an advice in itself for everyone. Be yourself, don't over do it, don't put yourself on a pedestal because nobody really care and it doesn't impress any sane person at all. You might have the good look, the good car, good job...in the end if you can't take care of what and who you love, why should we bother about someone like you? You're just another All talk guy.
Yes She's saying OK You have this you are this but do you have the "Touch" I don't care about all that 'No Substance" ( Rocket Scientist - Who Cares ---- You Think Your So Hot Like Brad Pitt Who Cares --- OH So you love your CAR .. Who Cares! LOLLL I LOVE SHANIA!!!!! I remember when She came out and She HIT BIG!!!!! She's Canadian.... & She's been through A Lot lost her parents in a car wreck when She was a young lady and raised her siblings worked really hard to raise them and provide for them.... I couldn't even IMAGINE!
She was married to well known rock producer Mutt Lange at one time. Mutt Lange produced albums from the likes of AC/DC and Def Leppard along with many others.
LOL...I was chuckling the whole time. Don't know what she means. My husband is Brad Pitt's identical twin. He just returned from NASA in his Ferrari and is turning up the heat pump as we speak. I'm a happy lady.
Congrats, you have a degree. Thanks for taking every spare second you have to tell anyone capable of hearing about it. That condescending attitude is truly 'attractive'. I'm sure people love it when you pull an, "Um... Actually!" on them at any chance. (I've know many mansplainers just like this. Going to college means they deserve anything they want and your time and attention belongs to them.) Congrats on being model-worthy. I'm sure your dates love you comparing your looks to their own. I'm also sure that wasting precious time that could be used for important things, on fixing your hair for the 10th in an hour, isn't obnoxious at all. (btw Brad Pitt is homely af and I will never understand ppl acting like he's attractive.) Congrats, you have a vehicle. Something many modern adults possess. I'm sure forcing people to take off their shoes before being allowed inside is swell. I'm sure your obsession doesn't lean toward a compensation for something else. (The guys obsessed with their cars are the worst! You can only listen to what they want, have to wear fabrics that 'won't harm their lady', and God forbid you touch anything.)
it's playful but real. there are a lot of guys who think they're all that... and none of it matters if you don't have the right touch... physical chemistry... a different kind of heat.
As a guy who grew up listening to this because of his mother was obsessed with Shania Twain. I think it has to do with a little bit of women empowerment. The woman has the choice. Which she was quite big on. But also that its not about the stuff you own and the money you have. It is about the emotional and physical connection that she desires. I get what you mean though. My mom made me listen to it a 1000 times because I said something similar. She wanted me to understand that money mattered but the emotional and physical part mattered more. I actually really enjoy Shania Twain. Even though she was forced down my throat haha.
She's saying you can have it all brains looks and materialistic things but if you can't connect and jive emotionally and physically it doesn't mean a thing
You have to realize this song is about at least 20-25 years old. This line about Brad Pitt is when he a certified sex symbol. Every woman wanted him so she is saying she wasn't impressed by him was kinda outlandish. This is a classic song along with "man I feel like a woman".
It's a blanket statement. However, she grew up in poverty. Where she didn't have heat or food. She worked as a singer in a casino to help provide for her and her siblings.
First of all why would you pic a live concert instead of the official video . I know you have to make so youtube don't strike content but this was unwatchable. I can't see what your are reviewing in the video. I am just going to say this. This review didn't impress me much.
Rocket scientists don't impress me much either, and intellectuals don't impress me at all. But someone who can write songs that connect with people impresses me to no end! That's the difference between learned skills and natural ability. Brad Pitt's appearance has changed over the past 3 decades. Shania's music will have the same relevance 3 decades (and more) from now as it did when it was first recorded.
It’s a mistake to take this song literally… it’s about vain guys, the kind of dudes who are too into themselves and too into materialistic things… she’s saying, “yeah yeah, all that stuff is cool, but if we get together will you pay that type of attention to me? Have you got substance or are you just a mansplaining hairdo with a shiny car?”
All women want a connection with their man that spiritual in nature! Mind, body and soul! 😊❤❤ Material stuff isn't it. And if it is than there's no real connection
Bro! Subtext... It's just about stating that you could be super smart, own nice things, be good looking or any of those type of things, but if you don't have a good heart and substance to your personality then those other things don't matter!
You should try her song, from this moment on, but the live version she sang with BSB. It showed both could really sing, not just some formulaic studio "singers."
Please react to Kaching! It's about the world's obsession with money and credit cards. Love the music video. Another gem is From this moment on. You won't be disappointed
If this is your very first time hearing Shania Twain don't make it your last. Her birth name is Eilleen Edwards. Jerry Twain being her step father who legally adpoted her. Shania came about as a stage name because Nashville didnt like the sound of Eilleen Twain. Not wanting to drop her surname she chose Shania as it was an Ojibway Indian name as Jerry her father was an Ojibway Indian. She came from very tough beginnings. Povity & violence. Withdrawing into her inner world words & music were her savour from an early age. Her mother saw/heard something in her & was the intial driving force behind her. Success didnt happen over night. In fact her mother Sharon & stepfather Jerry sadly never lived to witness the phenomenon that became Shania Twain. Enter Mutt Lange into her live & the rest is history. Her saddest thing is that her parents didnt live to share in her success. Despite her fame & fortune & the perals that go with that she has never forgotten where she came from & the struggles she had & knows many others have as well. She remains so very humble. Pure class, pure talent, pure beauty with a pure soul. If you want to get to know her, listen to her music & songs.
Dang they cut out the best part, towards the end of the song she sings “So what, do you think your Elvis or Something, whatever “ her song is about material needs/looks, she wants passion/connection/compatibility etc
It’s not about physical things. She wants the intangibles. When you strip away the physical stuff in a relationship, what do you have left? She then packaged this message in a playful song. Considering her origins, she can probably be happy with a tent in the woods, as long as the person she is with makes it worthwhile.
The lyrics are about "stereotypical" boyfriend types - she's not impressed with their looks or possessions - she wants a relationship. It's just having a dig but having fun with it.
Floyd clearly was hoping that if he comes his hair right, gets a rocket scientist degree, and buys a fancy car, he can impress a girl. He’s disappointed that’s not enough for Shania Twain.
Clearly there aren't as many cold nights in Spain compared to Canada lol As others have said, this is about putting the value in the relationship and not how the guy presents his superficial and often exaggerated "qualifications."
It is an indictment of men who think all women should be impressed because of one attribute, and it is usually a really obnoxiously superficial attribute. Women, in general, couldn't give a rip what you drive if it is clean and will safely convey people back and forth. Most care less about looks than personality and substance, and nobody likes the know-it-all guy who feels the need to constantly remind you of his phd.
Dude, how can you possibly miss the point sooooo badly. It’s not that he’s actually a rocket scientist or Brad Pitt, it’s guys who THINK they are “all that” but care more about themselves than the woman their trying to get with (her).
She is saying that a man's character is more important that looks, money and superficial things. At the end of the day those things are important but they don't always last after the shine wears off.
I think a better song for you to start with would’ve been a “whose bed have your boots been Under“. Those lyrics have more depth and I think it’s more straightforward for somebody like you to understand who doesn’t seem to look between the lines. But you’re taking this song too seriously. It’s cheeky fun. And she’s basically telling the man to humble himself, so I don’t see the problem.
It seems to me that she’s not the shallow one, your interpretation is shallow. You’re referring to getting heat because of money that the rocket scientist is making, as opposed to real love from a man who can keep you warm at night. Sir, that is a very shallow thought. Maybe you were joking too. I think so and hope so!
Oh sweet summer child. She’s saying your possessions can’t really please a woman. She’s saying she’s not impressed with money or looks if you don’t listen to what we need… particularly in the middle of the night. Lmao
Gee, golly, boyd; not that kind of heat. Guys who are proudest of a particular "asset" can be most lacking in personality, humor, caring, honesty....much more valuable assets. And all women, rich or poor, have to deal with egotistical jerks.
You're being literal about the heat? I think she means emotionally I think 🤔 p.s. this live version she is singing with some venom in her tone which the studio version doesn't have
i think you missed the point of the song. she doesnt need anyone's else's money or their nice cars or to date a supermodel. she wants someone that is there for here when she needs them, thats what will impress her. you focused so much about money as though everyone can be bought.

Passion and attentiveness trump brains, looks, money/material wealth…touch a woman’s heart and she’ll be impressed.
yea i saw that thumbnail Boyd, she was a baddie back in the day
First of all why would you pic a live concert instead of the official video .
Material stuff isn't it. And if it is than there's no real connection
Bro! Subtext... It's just about stating that you could be super smart, own nice things, be good looking or any of those type of things, but if you don't have a good heart and substance to your personality then those other things don't matter!
You should check out kaching from both the red and green album
She is saying don't show me what you have... Show me who you really are.
Last I read, Shania is the richest woman in Country Music, I'm guessing not much of arrogant impress her at all Go Shania!
"Brad Pitt makes a whole lot of money, im almost positive he can afford heat" 😂😂😂
Clearly there aren't as many cold nights in Spain compared to Canada lol As others have said, this is about putting the value in the relationship and not how the guy presents his superficial and often exaggerated "qualifications."
I think you should see the official video. No, it’s a funny type song.
I wish he would read the comments n learn a little about these songs the re listen to them
Man I Feel Like a Woman
Do Backstreet Boys i want it that way next cutey
You always look too deep, it's just entertainment!
You should listen to shania twain dont be stupid or black eyes blue tears
Oh sweet summer child. She’s saying your possessions can’t really please a woman. She’s saying she’s not impressed with money or looks if you don’t listen to what we need… particularly in the middle of the night. Lmao
Canadian content!
not all about money, its about a connection and the touch like she said that's the point of the song smh
Honey, money isn't everything.
Hi 🙌🙌 can you please react to blackpink- how you like that ...? Thank you and dont forget to put cc on 🤗
So... She don't impress you much? :)
My girlfriend 8 months pregnant went out and dried off her husband's car after a rain 🌧 he called her from work.
She has more money than Brad Pitt probably.
Watch the official video for a little more context (someday when you get a minute). It IS a fun pseudo-trolling song.
Purposefully obtuse?
She used to date Brad Pitt a long time ago.
Try Man I feel like a woman!
Money has Nothing to do with it! It's about chemistry and the song is sarcasm
