Oh and I like how you slightly emphasized how to power on the bike by hitting the "middle" button. Ahh.... such fun memories of the button to the left of center..
Scott, one thing I would suggest for you and any rider is a GPS locater put in the frame. That way if it gets stolen you can notify the police. Not that they would really do their job, but it might help getting your bike back.
I have an apple air tag with an adapter that fits into the tube head of the forks. This also allows me to move it to various bikes. Great minds think alike.
Scott, I'll take it! Oh wait... I did! Glad to see the Abound video finally, such production values! And I am one very happy customer. Your demo and the riding have made me admire Aventon for versatile designs and value for money, but ... a mountain bike? Did they really pull that off?
Great review… I subbed to this channel because I was looking for opinions on Velotric (which I own a Discover 1) however I swear the universe is nudging me to get an Aventon. I have serious eyes on the Level 2.
@@scotthardesty I still really like my Discover 1, but as of right now the Level 2 Aventon looks really really good. I'm not the fat tire type so I did not want the adventure.
Love this bike and it is really checking all of my boxes for beach vacation mobile. Can we at least acknowledge though, that this is….heavily inspired by the Tinker? Moving on, lol, I wonder what you can share with us about towing a bike trailer with this nugget.
I have not seen the Tinker cargo bike so I can't comment on that. I have not attempted to tow a trailer with the Abound (I don't actually have a trailer) but with the torque this bike has, I don't see it being a problem.
We have to wait a while before we buy one but my lady and I really want one of these. I have a Level Step-Through that I use as a daily commuter and for pleasure rides, I have had it since May 2022 and it has 7,600 miles and is still going strong. Last night I bought the Quietkat 48v Solar Charger which I am really looking forward to receiving! I have been going on long distance tent camping trips with my Level this summer and have stayed at campground tent sites with an electric outlet but now I won't need that. I'm hoping that is the case. Last trip was to Gettysburg Battlefield, two batteries and 85 miles, I camped for three days and it was fantastic. I was the only person there at the time that rode in on an E-bike so many people wanted to chat about it. Anyway, I'm hoping to own one of these cargo bikes within a couple months.
@@scotthardesty I do film my trips with my Gopro but I haven't shared my footage on YT. I may do that at some point, editing programs aren't something that I am super familiar with although I do own a PC that is built for that. @@Mainstayjay yeah. The editing has a learning curve for sure. I know I am still learning. You might like the video where I compare the abound with the Velotric packer 1.
Solid bike, but also check out the Lectric XPedition if you’re in the market. It’s less expensive for a very similar bike and dual batteries…. 150 mile range.
Scott i really like the abound i read some comments on Reddit where some owners had issues with spokes breaking on the back wheel. Have you heard or experienced it? Thanks love your videos
I saw that as well. I don't put kids on the back of the bike or anything like that, most of the weight I've had on the back of this bike has been under 100lbs so I hadn't had those issues.
Great real world demonstration. Hey how did you settle on the foldylock? One of the things I would be concerned about is theft. I bet you were nervous when you saw that guy checking out the bike. They can be in and out with the right tools pretty quick.
Thanks for watching! I love my foldylock. It's all I use with all my bikes. The reason I choose it is because of its compact size. I have many of the "holders" that connect where a water bottle goes and most bikes have that feature so I went with convenience over a heavy colbalt chain or Ulock. I have been using these locks for years and never had a theft (knock on wood).
I will say that I think it's a bit ironic that I just got my Aventure 2, and then Aventon releases a cargo bike, something that I'm finding the Aventure 2 kind of struggles with. You would think that if they're going to include a rear rack, it would be something that's easy to strap stuff to. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it really tough to get a velcro strapped bag onto the rear rack of the Aventure due to how little clearance there is between the rear fender and the rack, and the seeming lack of any kind of adjustment option to increase that gap. All that being said, perhaps I just have a cheap bag, and I'm hopeful that my trip down to the local bike shop will reward me with something that'll fit my needs. On the subject of this video, and for the benefit of others taking a look, does this one also have the exposed underside wiring that the Aventure 2 has? Thanks for the video, and belated congratulations on the marriage! Wishing you and the missus all the best. :)
I also have an issue getting straps under the back rack of the Aventure. Yes, the undercarrage is exposed with wires but that doesn't bother me as I will not be taking this bike on any mountain bike trails... or will I? hahahaha... No, I will not.
He was wrong. You can see on the Aventon website that the racks are purchased seperately, unless they have some sort of bundle special. Thanks for watching!
I was on the fence between this or the Lectric charge bike. Aventon has won me over….im going full Tim RV ing and I don’t want to get a tow vehicle (I don’t wanna pull anything) if I don’t have to….ill give this setup a try and see if it works for me.
I’m really thinking in buying this one! But You are in Chicago! I live in Logan Square and my tern HSD was stolen from my garage 😢, just thinking how are you doing with locks and security for your bike. Chicago getting worse with people stealing bikes like this one’s.
I also live in Logan Square. Hit me up on social and I will let you take it for a test ride! I use a foldy lock for all my bikes and it's worked very well.
Someone who would use the bike for transportation would obviously want the bike to be able to go 30 mph, unless they are 89 years old, maybe...I find bikes that can go 35mph and keep up with traffic on back roads or city streets to be the safest, because distracted, angered, psycho's are not passing you ever 3 seconds....If your old and joy riding, maybe that is different, but you could still go 20 mph if you want, why not let the person decide, instead of trapping everyone in the same box..I like the Lectric Xpedition better..Being able to travel 20 miles in an hour and thirty miles in an hour is a big difference for those trying to replace a car and help have a future, which is doubtful, but impossible without atleast trying...Just sayin'...
They work. I thought I put a bit showing me shoving dry cleaning clothes in there. Either way, I have used this bike multiple times for grocery shopping. It all fits!
Hey, awesome review. Just bought an abound that comes in a few days! I’m curious about how well the pannier bags open/work with the large rear rack? It looks like it blocks opening the top? What are your thoughts?
I can see this being a good choice in my situation, because running those types of errands to and from a town five miles away is my intended e-bike use. However, I'm going to disagree about the kickstand. I've test ridden a Trek model with that kickstand, and found it to be a big annoyance/ drawback. That design would be worse on a bike with 140 pounds on the back, that you'd have to lift up to put the kickstand down, and then again to raise kickstand up to start riding. You also have to be off the bike to use the kickstand, even if you have no load. Aventon should consider switching to a normal kickstand on both sides, and eliminate the need to lift the e-bike. With a load in back, I also think a bigger wheel/tire should be up front than what's in the rear, to balance ride better. Latter tire idea is just an opinion because I haven't experienced it, but the kickstand is a real shortcoming that I have experienced.
Hmmmm. Here is how I worked the kickstand. Once I had the weight on the bike, I just put my foot in front of the kickstand (which was already down) then pushed the bike forward and the kickstand sprang right up. When I stopped, I put the kickstand down, put my foot behind it, and then pulled backward on the handle on the back of the seat and the bikes weight put it on the kickstand really easily. I didn't have to lift up the bike at all.
Do you think the 2.4 tires make it not as stable? I’m thinking the front suspension might make up for some of that, and seat suspension could also be added. I think I’m going to get this bike and wonder if 2.4 tires will suffice. (Are 3 inch tires also compatible w bike and fender , I wonder?) Also do you know if those inner tube guards and slime can be put int? Thank you.
even though the frame looks quite solid but the rear rack with its seat seems to be way thinner - will it endure extra passengers 1 adult + toddler of their total weight about 150lbs?
I am curious about the pannier access while the rear rack is in place. I see you were able to stuff the dry cleaning in, but how do you think it would fare with something you couldn't "smush" in, say a couple grocery bags? Thanks!
Is that xnito very heavy, or more lightweight? What size is your measurement in inches, and what size did you get? Is the ventilation good in hot weather? Thanks, Scott!
Hi there. Very helpful review. Did you get the extra battery? If so, is there a way to store on the bike without using the bags or rack? Will it fit where your bike lock is?
I do have an extra battery as it uses the same battery as my Aventure. There is no way to connect it to the frame like you want. Not sure how someone would do that. If I think I am going to need it, I will put it in my side bag wrapped in a towel for cushion.
I really enjoyed the video, and I'm going to do a test drive this week!! :D Wish you'd of done some mounts/dismounts on camera...it weighs 81 lbs, right? I'm 5'4 inch older lady...also, is the stand easy to use? I wonder what it'd be like to stop when it's loaded. Adjust the seat then, at a red light? Thanks, I love the helmet and the dogs, too. Did Aventon give you the bike free? Kinda hard not to like it, if it's free... '
After multiple uses with this bike, I can give some insight for your questions. On a grocery run, I put 4 cases of bottle water on the bike. 2 cases of 24 bottles and 2 cases of 12 sparkling water. Also added groceries to the panniers. I don't really seeing people doing this amount of weight but I like to experiement. The bike was very unstable to start moving but once I was going I was good. Stop signs definitely had me putting my feet on the ground for stabilization. I don't really use the drop seat. It also takes awhile to get used to the center stand. Yes, companies send me these bikes for free to review so I understand your thought process. I do not use that to dictate how I review a bike. As a matter of fact, these companies do not see my review until it's public nor do they have any input on my reviews. This is why I point out the good and bad of bike. I really appreciate you watching and I hope I was able to answer your questions.
First of your reviews i have watched. Really well done. Have you tested the lectric XPedition cargo bike? It seems on paper an even better value...I am torn between this one and the lectric one as my first ebike to become my car replacement for intown trips.

I’m seriously considering selling my car and getting an e-bike to use alongside public transport in my city. The only problem is that I work rather far out from the city limits and my school is outside of city limits. (And Baltimore is not known for being terribly bike friendly) I’m just so tired of feeling chained to my car. I enjoy having a car, but I can barely afford the maintenance. Selling it would save me monthly expenses AND give me a nice chunk of change. Anyone in the comments have experience going carless?
I do 99% of my errands on ebikes. The Chicago traffic is so terrible that I truly hate driving in the city now. I feel your pain but maybe an e-bike will set you free.
Currently have a Propella 9s Pro to commute around Chicago, but I feel that the potholes really get me. How does this do with a load and front suspension? Things tend to want to fly out of my rear basket with my bike.
I recently bought a cargo net for the back rack. All the attachments are super solid on this bike, I think it's tied down you will be super pleased. The front fork really makes riding these Chicago roads much more manageable, especially when there is weight on the bike. Since you live in Chicago, hit me up, and I let you ride mine.
Those cargo bikes are the goofiest thing I've ever seen but now with our serious economy which will bring a depression we've never seen this may be the true third world country transportation that will need

Xnito hemet liner is on order. Schedule to arrive in a few days. I like riding late into fall. Will have to look into better gloves and re-think my footwear. Feet get cold. Ride On!
Good choice! I had to get heated gloves for anything under 35 degrees.
I love your reviews. If I ever start doing actual reviews on my channel, I will have to review something you don't so I won't look so pathetic with my editing skills. Oh and I like how you slightly emphasized how to power on the bike by hitting the "middle" button. Ahh.... such fun memories of the button to the left of center..
Hahahaha. Thanks for the kind words… and good eye. I was surprised this one starts without hitting the battery button first.
4:24 It does that because that was designed for the synch and they just felt like refusing that one for it's adjustability.
Well, it works. I figured out it also helps people get it into an SUV.
Scott, I'll take it! Oh wait... I did! Glad to see the Abound video finally, such production values! And I am one very happy customer.
Your demo and the riding have made me admire Aventon for versatile designs and value for money, but ... a mountain bike? Did they really pull that off?
Thanks for watching George. I'm glad you liked the video, although, I will not be attempting any mountain bike trails on the Abound. hahaha.
Dude we just bought one! Great video, stoked to my son around in it!
You will have a great time! Thanks for watching!
I'm loving the bike infrastructure you have access to. What city is this?
Chicago, but actually Chicago and not a suburb. The bike trails are improving throughout the city and I'm loving it!
Great review… I subbed to this channel because I was looking for opinions on Velotric (which I own a Discover 1) however I swear the universe is nudging me to get an Aventon. I have serious eyes on the Level 2.
Keep an eye out for Velotric. I hear they have a lot of cool bikes coming up this year!
@@scotthardesty I still really like my Discover 1, but as of right now the Level 2 Aventon looks really really good. I'm not the fat tire type so I did not want the adventure.
@@AdamasOldblade I would love to get my hands on a Level 2.
The cargo bike looks enticing. I have the Adventure and love it
I love my Aventure as well!
Great review Scott! The Abound looks like a great bike for cargo and I like the torque /power, however, I can’t get Mama to even look at it! lol. 👍🏻
Hahahaha... maybe someday she will.
The review I was waiting for, well done.
Thank you! I appreciate your support.
Wow. You should do some videos about your trips and post them on RUclips. I bet others would be interested to see how you do all that.
@@scotthardesty I do film my trips with my Gopro but I haven't shared my footage on YT. I may do that at some point, editing programs aren't something that I am super familiar with although I do own a PC that is built for that. Maybe this winter I'll go through the footage and post some of it. I am replying while at another campsite actually, 😏. For now, I enjoy content like yours. I'm a big Aventon fan. Seeing content of you riding the Abound more I would enjoy!
@@Mainstayjay yeah. The editing has a learning curve for sure. I know I am still learning. You might like the video where I compare the abound with the Velotric packer 1.
@@scotthardesty I did, I watched it and got my girl to watch it. That was the decider for us so thank you for that video!
@@Mainstayjay Glad I could help!
Very impressive! Not my use-case (I’ve got the Aventure for that), but very cool!
I totally understand. I didn't think I would like anything but fat tire bikes. This bike surprised me.
Solid bike, but also check out the Lectric XPedition if you’re in the market. It’s less expensive for a very similar bike and dual batteries…. 150 mile range.
If I could only get them to send me one to review.
Gotta love these modern "unbiased" 😂 commercials.
Well... It was my first cargo bike. You should watch me compare it to the Velotric Packer 1 and see how "unbiased" I am.
Do a MTB torture test with it like you did with the Aventure. Make sure to strap those water bottles in too :D
hahahahaha.. That would totally break this bike.
Yes, the undercarrage is exposed with wires but that doesn't bother me as I will not be taking this bike on any mountain bike trails... or will I? hahahaha... No, I will not.
one guy said the addon racks were included. regardless good actual use case testing, thank you
He was wrong.
Sounds good! I am glad I was able to help you with your decision.
I love that paint color. Its just like my Area 51 blue ford maverick! Maybe I should get one to match haha
This blue really does shine in the sun!
I totally understand your point of view on this. When I first got the bike I tried to unlock it.
Completely agree. Big miss by Aventon.
@@scotthardesty did the unlocking work? Isn't the same app as the other aventon?
@@kenc6602 It did not work. The bike remains a class 1. The app is the only way to unlock these bikes. If they are unlock-able. This one is not.
Great review but you didn’t demonstrate if the panniers work with the top rack. What is the answer? Thanks
Before I take a test ride, I cover that. The rack covers half the top of the panniers but its still very functional.
Is this a good bike for Canadian cold weather and rain or is this for like cali weather… for me it between this bike and the Envo urban flex
I live in Chicago, I have the same weather you do. You are good to go.
I didn't have to lift up the bike at all.
really cool ebike!! in my opinion, three changes and it would be perfect: black colour , 20x3.3 inch tires and dual battery system
Maybe on the next version! Thanks for watching!
Thank you.
Nice review. How responsive is the throttle?.
Have u review the radwagon or the radrunner 3?
I starts of gentle but no delay. I just received the Radpowers RadRunner 3 Plus. I should have that review out next week!
even though the frame looks quite solid but the rear rack with its seat seems to be way thinner - will it endure extra passengers 1 adult + toddler of their total weight about 150lbs?
The back rack area holds 140lbs on its own. So you should be good to go with the maximum weight of the bike being 440lbs.
It is really beautiful.
It's adorable! Thanks for watching!
I am curious about the pannier access while the rear rack is in place. I see you were able to stuff the dry cleaning in, but how do you think it would fare with something you couldn't "smush" in, say a couple grocery bags? Thanks!
Good question. I do believe you can pull out the sides enough to put groceries in there with minimal effort.
@@scotthardesty Thanks!
Is that xnito very heavy, or more lightweight? What size is your measurement in inches, and what size did you get? Is the ventilation good in hot weather? Thanks, Scott!
I did a full review on this helmet. Maybe the answers you are looking for are here: ruclips.net/video/e7R-sYQw7FM/видео.html
I love this review, super helpful, but 64 bottles of water make me ☹️ you should invest in a reusable water bottle!
Actually, we do use filtered water at home, but I need something heavy that would fit.
Will the A2 Battery fit in this bike without changing the cover, looks like the battery's are the same.
Yes you can. But you will have to quick press the battery to get it to power up.

Great review. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great review! Love the bike!
Thank you! I was suprised by how functional it is.
First of your reviews i have watched. Really well done. Have you tested the lectric XPedition cargo bike? It seems on paper an even better value...I am torn between this one and the lectric one as my first ebike to become my car replacement for intown trips.
Thanks for watching and the positive comments. I have reached out Lectric as I would love to review their cargo bike but they have not responded. :(
Yes, I am vacillating between the XPedition and the Abound. 😵💫
@@theartofginablickenstaff1314 and now the velotric packer1 is in the mix as well...waiting for a cross comparison from someone of all 3 in one video, 🤞
I am a big rider at 450 lbs. Looking at this and the adventure 2. I know I am maxing out both, but in your opinion...which one would be more ideal as far as durability and quality of components? Thank you!
Both have the same quality of parts and components. I would go for the Aventure 2 Step-thru. I believe you would feel more secure and safe riding that one.
@@scotthardesty thanks for the input Scott! The cargo bikes are what I have been looking at because they can carry more weight...but the components of the adventure bike (being a bit more rugged), I feel can hold up just as well. Especially with the thicker tires
@@loganlong9793 I agree, plus that bike will get you down in pounds as it is so much fun to ride. You will be under that max weight in no time. Here’s the link. alnk.to/aAJWjg2
I’m seriously considering selling my car and getting an e-bike to use alongside public transport in my city. The only problem is that I work rather far out from the city limits and my school is outside of city limits.
(And Baltimore is not known for being terribly bike friendly)
I’m just so tired of feeling chained to my car.
So can you confirm that the battery is interchangeable with the Aventure? Tested? Works ok?
Yes. You will see me switch it out on my Abound vs Packer 1 video.
@@scotthardesty Awesome! I'll go check it out. Thank you!
Would Hiplok D locks fit this
Not sure. Never had my hands on one of those locks.
Where are you located with all the great bike infrastructure?
In the city of Chicago. Logan Square area.
I would encouraged anyone interested a cargo bike to purchase the Abound.
It's a little beast.
Outstanding Review. New Subscriber here.
Thank you!

It's a review of a bike. In theory, I feel every review is ad of some sort.
