ABOUT ME
I’m 30 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland. That’s why I have such a strong accent!! I was born and raised in sheep with my dad being a shepherd on an Ayrshire farm.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep.
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then, in 2015, my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could keep my hand in. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 ewes.
I shear over 10,000 sheep a season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep scanner and have been building up my run since then so I have a good income stream in summer and winter.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

I made it to the end! My husband’s family came from the Orkney islands, from Folsetter Farm originally...and here we are in Tennessee raising sheep a few generations later. Funny ole world, isn’t it?
A man climbs up and over a few mountains, calls them hills, ...flips a 4 wheeler on himself, says it’s just a wee cuddle, has dogs that fly over fences like a graceful bird: must be a Scott! Such a good video Cammy, loved the high shots with the drones, and yes, I watched to the end. I could have watched for an hour, however, when you and Sean got to talking, your accent really came out and I was so glad for the subtitles, lol. I wondered at times if you could even understand each other when you got going fast. Lol. Can’t wait for part 2.👍👍👍❤️❤️🐑🐑🐑
Haha u translated that beautifully! He’s a hardy big lad! Wild Orcadian accents can be hard to pick up. Well done 😊
Watching it again Cammy, only Big Sean could have a wee cuddle with a 4 wheeler ...... Great stuff
An old Scottish shepherd in NZ told me always let stock ( sheep or cattle) think they are getting away from you, and the more you dog a mob, the slower it will move, best advice a young shepherd ever got, and never forgotten
It's not too long! This is so interesting. I just found your channel about a week ago, so now I'm watching it all. Sean! what an interesting character! I'll never get tired of watching all these sheep and their farmers. Thanks, Cam, for doing a great job!
I think Im in love with a viking lol. Bless him. Could listen te his brogue all day long.
You'll need to join the queue! 😉
@@TheSheepGamejust gotta get him to do some more. Lol good show Cammy x
Wow, great video! The Viking didn't roll the bike, he said they had a 'wee cuddle'! hahaha
Great video Cammy & the Viking! The scenery looked amazing the day before you got there. Congrats on getting over 10,000! Looking forward to part 2...no it's not too long- great content!
Cheers mate!! And that jacket is packaged up for the post tomorrow!
I'm so sorry but I have rewind the video several times to watch the bird hit your head and got a good laugh. What a wonderful way to start my day. THANK YOU for not editing it out.
Love love Sean’s voice and commentary x
Made it to the end. It always amazes me these functioning old buildings. I can only imagine the hours put into building them.
Yeah it’s a very interesting one! The drone is great for that!
I love Orkney and the scenery is terrific Matched perfectly by Sean's commentary
Glad you enjoyed Julie!
Even the foggy/misty/cloudy drone shots were beautiful.
Watched it. Love the drone footage. Fantastic buildings. I thought that dog was going to eat you!
Shawn's even harder to understand and add you.... I'm lost in a foreign land... land where my ancestors came from... but the making do with what you have on hand still runs deep! And that blue of the rope is my favourite blue!
Can I ask why I am shearing in a singlet and you have a hoody and a back warmer on?
Coz i don’t need to work hard to stay ahead of u boy 😎
What does 'a singlet' mean?
Is that what a singlet is, A singlet to me is one of those outfits the wrestlers wear.
Donna Spear a singlet is a vest with a long back that shearers wear. 😁
Thomas Duerksen he has one of those also. Likes to dresses up at weekends and runs around poking people in the eyes and shouting “CAPTAIN INSANO SHOWS NO MERCY”
I made it to the end! Only a year late 😂 what a fantastic video! The landscape of Scotland is just unreal.
You legend Victoria! Thanks!
Grate vid cammy got to the end of it no bother mayby you will have to some clipping in the western ilse next year keep your fans from the west happy
Cheers David! All good fun! Might get out your way next year!
I just started watching your videos and really enjoy them. I just have one question..... how often does a bird fly into your head??? You just kept on filming as if it didn't happen or you did a great job editing.
Just completed the video. Fantastic. Glad to catch your latest...since I'm quite busy shearing in Pennsylvania right now. What epic hills! I thought our mountains were great, but I don't know what the dogs and I would do on those cliffs! Great videos! Keep them coming!
Cheers Scott! Appreciate the comments!
Thanks for keeping the videos coming, we've enjoyed them all, you guys have such a great attitude, keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
We were going to The Orkneys via John O Groats and our trip was cancelled because of the wind. The early ferry had no wind and ignored the wind warnings and didn’t make it back until 11pm. We had to make do with Castle Mey. Nice but not what we went for, thanks for supplying one of the biggest things we came to Scotland for. Edited for spelling 😆
Really enjoyed the longer video and the history from Sean was great. Good job !
Cheers Nikki. Aye he’s getting good now!
Great video I did think that dog was gunna have u when it jumped out
Hahah i hid my fear well😂😁
Loved it boys! Looking forward to part 2 congrats on the 10k!
Cheers Jimmy! Hoepfully have it for Wednesday!
The Viking is good at making videos, (surprised me). It didn't seem long to me.
Aye for someone who drags his knuckles when he walks he did quite well! 😂
@@TheSheepGame HAHA
What a job! Fascinating to see how Sean works and also how beautiful the island is. Sean's comment about how he has a flat ass was so hilarious. It would have been some laugh If you and Sean running towards each other had been slow motion with romantic music. lol Outstanding drone footage, Cammy! Please tell Sean that the helmets with the pointy visor in front are very dangerous.A friend of mine got thrown from the front of his quad bike, and visor caught in the ground.. He suffered a pretty serious neck wound and head wound, and he had to do almost a year of physical therapy.-Jo Lori D.rake from West Virginia
That's a breath taking an beautiful place 😍
Aye was amazing! Will try get to the gather day next year with Drone!
Really enjoyed this video.wonderful scenery and loved the farm set up. The drone pictures were great showing the sheep being divided.
Im watching again and I had the subtitles on cause of the wind and to understand Sean and everytime the sheep bleet it says Applause! 😂😂😂😂
It’s really great to see another way of farming sheep. I just love the day-to-day farming stuff.
Beautiful island, but looking at it on the map, the area for hardy people only. Congratulations on exceeding your goal, up the number for next year. This has been fun watching.
Brilliant thanks Judy!! Got there a lot easier than i expected 😁
I made it to the end, and I enjoyed it all, that dog being so anti-Cammy then running off to get to work was great, sorry the dog alarmed him, lol.
More of Orkney next!
Great video. Those old stone buildings just amaze me. That they have been there for so many years & are still in use is amazing. It just shows the workmanship that was put into them without all the fancy equipment we have today.
Yes definitely some amount of workmanship went into those old building Alice, some amount of time it would have taken too!!
Finished part 1. Cammie, your brogue has gotten more pronounced in Hoy!! Love my Scot’s heritage!!
Still easier to understand than Sean tho🤣
I think those are The sheep that was on the Mt.? I can't get my head around what a dangerous place to be. Thanks for this video. granny90
I love getting the Scots glossary along with the sheep
Oh my stars, those sheep farmers are so lucky to be living in such a beautiful land! I love your videos of Scotland. I've got English and Scotish in my ancestry and love to see where my Mom's side originally came from.
🤣🤣🤣 loved it, but wheres our Simon??
Cannae wait for the next part!!
I’ll get on to him for a brief update!😁
I love ur longer vlogs I am making my way through ur vids from the beginning
Thanks!
This was a brilliant video, loved it. Wow what an amazing place and another interesting building too. You and Sean together are dynamite comedy and he really should do more filming he is very good at it. Congrats on exceeding your target and getting that bike loaded. lol.
Thanks for all the nice comments Mags! We have a good laugh together and are very competitive! 😁
Well done Cammy.....Just recently subscribed and LOVE your videos.....I genuinely wish you every success in your enterprise.....your videos are very informative to people like me who are NOT farmers.....BIG Respect
That's great Keith thanks for subscribing and glad you enjoy the videos.
My goodness! What a beautiful place!❤❤❤
Good video quality.looks like you still enjoy shearing even in damp weather.wool does good bedding on shearing day and saves wool board haulage costs off Scottish islands.🐑🏴🍺😎👍
Shore plenty wet sheep this summer😂. Cheers John.
Awesome video thanks. Beautiful country man👍Interesting roof structures on the buildings are they set up like that for collecting water for the livestock. Thanks Graham 🇨🇦
Very good question Graham i’m not actually sure but that makes a lot of sense so i’ll go with that!!
My visit to the Orkneys was magical, such gorgeous landscape, for me competing for best landscape ever with the Isle of Skye. This was such a fun vlog (yes, I am 1,5 year late, who cares). The dividing of sheep to sheer and the lams, is so smart! The drone footage awesome. Dreagh (written like that?) In Lima Peru they call it 'garua' = mist from sea, a wet day indeed. In Netherlands we just say: kutweer :)
Dreich maybe?
This is as beautiful as I imagined. I've read ALOT about the Orkney Islands, and watched production films but this video is the best view I've had, bar none. Of course super interested in watching the dogs work. Imp.
That tour of the isLand was breathtaking. I can’t wait to visit Scotland. Saving my pennies. If you could suggest your fav location to visit where would it be?
Brilliant video Cammy love crack between you and Seany. I clipped up at Orgil many years back, but your session looked at bit more organised. Don’t clip many now, it’s a young person’s game. So thank you I am enjoying watching your travels around the country.
Thanks Grace! Was a great experience for me! Amazing part of the world. We are over the other side of Hoy in the next video.
@@TheSheepGame Is that down at Melsetter.? The green part of Hoy. The island is two contrasting farm areas top end wild and hilly. The bottom over looking the Pentland Firth green and fertile. We farm further round the bay from Melsetter just along from Long hope .
Grace Robertson yeah that’s the one!! Over there with Harvey in next video!
Shaun's nephew introduction was perfect.
When possible, you should tell smaller participants off your videos, (but also older ones, they too deserve recognition) that people love them all appearing. It always cheers me up seeing those kids.
How was your day at work? I just went ahead and casually climbed a couple of mountains and went down some ravines after sheep..... what a life!
Some life up there!!
Made it to the end! Easy to do since I'm fascinated with your work, country, scenery, weather, brogue, and sense of humor. Thanks for another wonderful adventure while I'm snuggling in my warm, cozy bed.
Wow. What a wonderful experience. Beautiful countryside. ❤️❤️
its a good watch Cammy. Thank you for letting me take part in the video. From Harv 👍
You’re some man Harvey hope u liked it!!
i always watch to the end. it's fascinating stuff! :) How old are the buildings?
Thanks Barb! These buildings will be couple hundred years plus. Low arches and strange roofs!
The subtitles are TERRIBLE! 😂😂😂 We're on the Island of Hawaii just off the Island Devotee!? 😅😅😅😅
Beautiful. I hope to visit someday when the world has settled down a little.
Hoy is IN the Orkney Islands - it's not "off the Island of Orkney". The big island in the middle is called "Mainland".
So if you're Orcadian & wete travelling from a smaller island to the big island, you would say "I'm going to Mainland", but if you're going to the big bit of Scotland, you would say: "I'm going to the Mainland of Scotland".
Having said that - I've come across incomers who moved to Orkney & are convinced the big island is called Orkney - even after 40 years of living there! I guess because they never had a geography conversation with an original Orcadian.
It's illogical to call the big island "Orkney" as a name, because that implies all the little islands are not "Orkney".
It's an archipelago called the Orkney Islands.
watched it to the end cammy loving these vlogs again haven't seen any for over a month, moved house done second, sheeep work all sorts this first chance i had to sit haha Here in cumbria we call those knots twitches! Oh and well done with the 10K
That’s great John!! Hope the move goes well!!
Wasn't that family also on "This farming life"? What happened to the farmers? Are they becoming Tv-internet personalities? How on earth do they have the time for filming, editing, producing etc?
Yes I came to Scotland and didn’t see it when I was a child, made up for it since. Population actually 301, you forgot the old man. I hope the wool has some value cheviot X shetland sounds like good wool. Did you shear with cover combs? Tell Sean he doesn’t have a big arse, fine figure of a man!
Thankyou Wendy great boost for the confidence 👍😂
Hahaha don’t go easy on him Wendy!
Sean Cursiter, nice rugby jersey you had on!🇳🇿
So wonderful to see the Isle of Hoy! (It's my last name by marriage). Thank you for sharing! (Also, any update on Simon?)
I made it to the end. I didn't think it was long at all! I am new here. I am American (from California) so I admit I didn't always understand your words. But I am trying to learn because the content is so interesting to me!
Thanks for watching! I’m always trying to improve my articulation but it’s hard because the Scottish accent / dialect is very strong where i’m from😁. Hopefully it keeps getting clearer for u!
The drone footage is amazing....Sean is not a man to be messed with Cammy, don't think you should have told on him!!! 😅😅
My Husband has always wanted to visit Orkney Islands, thank you for sharing, Elliot Lake , Ontario Canada
Another great episode! Thanks for the scenery and congrats on reaching your goal.
Thanks Lisa!! The next one should have some great shots too! Hopefully out midweek. 😁
Great photography. The drone shots are amazing. It's interesting to see how the sheep are living in the rough cliffs, and then how they're brought down to be sheared. I hope to get to Scotland in a few years, and now I have to add the Orkneys to my list of places to visit.
Amazing drone footage above the clouds. Really fascinating work you do.
That part was so cool!!
You two are a great duo!
The mask makes no difference to you speaking we hear you fine whilst wearing it. 453 in one day, how many hours in that day did you work 23 ?
By fare my favourite video I have seen this year! Looking forward to the next one keep up the good work! 👌🏻🤙🏻
Really appreciate that mate thanks!!
Wow, that is beautiful country views! You all are so lucky to have that to look at! I hope to visit Scotland and Shetland one day for a wool adventure.Shetland is my favorite breed to spin!
It’s amazing! Make sure u stop by at Orkney on your way to Shetland😁
im not a farmer but i bet you could make a straight-faced brilliant drama about it, especially with Sean. I would definitely watch it
Great video! That's some spot!
Amazing! Loved being over!
Enjoyed the video. Mules instead of atv’s might be something to consider. Mules are agile and very sure footed. Just a suggestion.
So beautiful Cammy ! What a place, even in the rain. Thank you for sharing.
🐑🐑😷👍🏴🇺🇸
Thanks again Randolph!
The barn roofs are interesting with the pitches creating internal valleys, why is that? To collect rain water?
Stunning country ooh those cliffs have my tummy doing backflips
Great scenery almost like being the but very Muddy lol. Always watch to the end
giga chad owns a farm, ofc he does.
Great video , banter was up to your usual high standard. Shetland sheep are devils to keep in fields , have experience of trying to keep them of my land, from the neighbours hill . 🏴😤
Cheers James. I just bought 120 😂
@@TheSheepGame I hope they do well for you , they do thrive coming south , just be careful which field you put them in , if a dog can get out the field , then they will escape. 😇🏴
Such Rugged Terrain, you all are a Tough lot to Work and Live there. Hard workers for Sure.🐑
Breathtaking video - definitely not too long. Really enjoyed the hill muster, some skill and local knowledge at work there for sure. Really fascinated to see the steading infrastructure that's required for such a challenging environment, centuries of local knowledge still relevant and being used. Fantastic.
In Nov 2009 Sarah and I spent a week on Skye. My Edinburgh born brother was our host and guide. It was freezing (we too mist the Cuillins....) but the sheep we saw didn't seem at all bothered, I remeber wondering at the time how the heck you got them dry to shear......
Great to see the similarities between the Western Isles and Orkney! Sadly, we're not allowed to use ATV's or two wheelers here 😅
If course I made it to the end. Wonderful! How else to your the world during this pandemic?
Another good yin Cammy, yer some man for one man cheers jd
Cheers JD! Appreciate the support!
Fabulous video , beautiful scenery , awesome work carried out by everyone.
Watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. New to your channel and started from the first vlog.
How long did it take you to learn how to shear properly
I’m still learning Simon. I haven’t shorn enough sheep yet to master it. To be able to shear without any pain would have been 3 UK seasons. 👍
I used to lived in orkney and I enjoyed growing up there on the mainland and it is safe place and lovely place to visit
Hi cammy love the vids I was just wondering what u do throughout winter when u are not clipping
Hi Logan! Cheers for that. I scan sheep in winter and also crutch lambs at a market. I have a near full time office job in the city as well which keeps me busy.
Was lovely to have a chat to ya on the boat Cammy! Hopefully you’ll come back to visit Orkney 👋🏻
Yeah Ellis made me feel famous😂!! Hopefully get back up near Ner’day.
I only this 🇺🇸 could understand more than every 4th or 5th word!
Awesome island. Thanks to Sean for his wandering.
Aye the boy did well!!
great watched all the way again stunning scenery and decent people
Having to go mountain climbing before you can start gathering! Wow!
Yep, watched it and wanting more! What a gorgeous place, even when it's gloomy. Question: why would the roof of the sheep barn have parts built into the roof that point to the floor instead of the sky? Seems to me that invites big water problems, eventually, and who wants a mucky barn floor?
Of course I watched to the end! It's an absolute joy to see you and Sean together again. Was that Emma trying to keep out of camera range in the blue jacket? Beautiful scenery, and good friends. You made my day. On to part two now.🐏☺️
just found this waow even an old sheep counters can take delight at this must be magic channel
I watched the whole thing!! Now to part 2 😀… Absolute gorgeous country. I am literally obsessed with Scotland. I want to tour the whole country…every island!! I have soooo many questions….lol…here I come, Google
