Absolutely delighted to see Dad's Army being integrated into British Culture. As a Boy I saw the first ever program on the box and have kept a great deep highly charged personal affinity across the either with all the cast, although nearly all gone now, ever since. Never a week passes without a rerun. Three years ago drove up to Thetford for a pic with the Capt. And yes I admit a program never fails to bring a tear to my eye.......... as this is MY BRITAIN.
i understand that at the time filming took place the railway station was being restored to working order. i understand the filming in of the cast in the cab took place on a sound stage?
Just brilliant. They'll never be forgotten, superb actors and it's as though you knew them all as real people, they're so engrained in or culture. I never tire of Dad's Army. I consider myself lucky to have met Bill Pertwee and Pamela Cundell , just lovely people and so warm. My dad knew Arthur Lowe's father. He said he was just like Arthur and he used to give him a lift to the local pub in dad's bread delivery van. Happy days.
Just seeing Dads army brings bak memories characters were superb only sad thing is they all passed away may they all rest in peace ameen GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN comedy at its best
I discovered Dad's Army on RUclips awhile back and became hooked. Brilliant comedy from a great ensemble cast. To the rest of the fan club, greetings from Dallas.
rackinfrackin wow small world. I was introduced to this show by my cousin's friend who lives in England. My cousin knew I liked Are you being served, which I first saw on PBS. So he told me about it.
rackinfrackin they tried a USA based series but it didn't work try Google it you mite find it they definitely did the don't tell him pike when asked for his name by uboat captain but all names where changed good luck serching and best wishes .
Just imagine arriving at such a beautiful historical station on a stream train and look a like Dads army are lined up on the platform to greet you …. Wow!- thank you for posting this video and giving me a small taste of what must have been an unforgettable experience for all who attended……we’re all doomed, Mr Manering and don’t panic are still deeply rooted catch phrases in The UK and beyond, even after all these years. 🤣👍
A superb event at the North Norfolk Railway at Weybourne in association with the Thetford Dad's Army Museum. No wonder the North Norfolk is so popular with events such as this, the much celebrated 1940s weekend and the two Steam Galas.
The main thing which interests me about the North Norfolk Railway is the History Timeline of Policemen Bobbies & Firefighters of the 19th, 20th & 21st Centuries.
I was a schoolboy living in Weybourne at the time, and the crew and cast stayed at The Maltings Hotel in the village (then run by Mr & Mrs Ashcroft). They certainly kept the tiny bar busy during their stay, and on the final evening the cast autographed a pound note, which was then cut up it into pieces and later framed. It hung on the wall in the bar for a few years afterwards, but on my last stay at The Maltings in 2001 it was no longer there.
Excellent series of clips and very funny. I'm looking forward to the feature film early in 2016 - largely filmed in Bridlington, the town of my birth, I believe.
+Ray Walkington Thanks. Yes, it'll be interesting to see how the film turns out. I think NNR may be doing the Dad's Army Live event again next year if you're interested.
I was there when my son was recording this. Brilliant ❤
What a fantastic celebration! 🤗
Excellent 👍

elmfork52: Same here. I live in Los Angeles. I wish they'd run this series in the US. I'm sure Americans would love it.

Couldn't think of a perfect day out, sadly only Pike and the Vicar are the only ones left.

The Steam Locomotive just tops it off perfectly!🤗👌👍🚂🚃🚃🛤️🇬🇧
Very entertaining for an old git like me! Many thanks for posting.
Wow they are really good!, many of them are so like the real thing, how marvelous
Very good and entertaining , had some VERY big boots to fill as the original cast was so good !
Good stuff cjh30003, a very well made video and had me LOL during the water fight whilst defusing the 'bomb'. A BIG thumbs up.
Thanks Steve.

Beautiful and eccentric, in a very British way.
Looks like a lot of fun
Quality has longevity

@@cjh30003 i understand the railway station appeared in another series about a holiday camp?
@@eliotreader8220 Yes, it was used for an episode of Hi-de-Hi.
Makes me quite nostalgic for those long ago times when we didn't have to wear a mask.
Gas Mask perhaps?
Only a gas mask.
@@sheilamallett2741 Oh yes. I had one as a small boy. You could make great fart sounds with them and giggle for hours.
one of my favert eposodes love it
could have got someone a bit younger to play Pike
When I started on the railway in 79 I knew drivers who refused back in the day to take a loco out tender first.
They were only missing the engine that was seen on the show
Very nice. Wrong bunduks though. SMLE instead of Mdle 17.
there's only one difference and that's because the steam engine is bigger
Thje 9F class loco is post world war 2 but it doesn't really matter...
Can’t see the point myself 🤷🏻♂️
Rd Mountford bet you
Watch love Island
And goggle box
What a load of chaotic crap
Excellent 👍
