It is wonderful seeing your kids grow up and be such a great part of your videos. You are truly blessed with a wonderful family. This was a new place for us that we will put on our list. We enjoyed the ponies. Thanks for sharing. John and Bev
Thank you Randy, I sure enjoy watching you and your "fun crew" enjoying so many awesome areas of America ... I'm grateful for all your videos and so happy to be a huge fan ... Robin :-) !!
Hi friends. I get excited when I see a new upload from America's Parks. This was another fantastic adventure. Awesome that the storm kept the entire area from being developed. Turned out for the best, it seems. This was wild that you walked three trails and got to see one pony. Head to the parking lot and you get to see several. Thanks for sharing another incredible experience!
"We're not leaving until we find a pony" yeah I'd rather see a pony than a rat snake! 😆 beautiful beaches- the ponies are freezing and cuddled in a grass field somewhere ♡ glad you saw them on the last hike.
So much to see and do! I love the 3 zones highlighted in this park. Thanks for sharing another great family adventure. Take care and may God bless you all.
Randy, What a great winter retreat for the family! Thanks to Julie, Hailey, Kayla, Natalie, Shane and you for sharing your visit with us and THANK YOU FOR TAKING US ALONG ON THE TRAILS, . . . Mike
You found the ponies! It is an encouragement as you demonstrate that visiting National Parks even in the winter can be fun and exciting!! Really like the awesomely framed camera shots too! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing another great adventure. Great to spend time with family enjoying God's creation. Glad He blessed you by allowing you to see the ponies. 🐴🐴👍🙏🙏
Been there. Both Maryland and Virginia entrances. We saw many ponies in Maryland and none on the Virginia entrance. Nice seeing the ponies again. We really enjoyed seeing them 😊. Thanks.
Wow - what a cool place! All three trails looked super interesting - you shared it perfectly! Loved seeing all of you enjoying it and enjoying being together.
It was a really nice overnight get-away. Getting hard to coordinate the schedules. Sadly need to plan about 3 months out - even during the holidays. Have a great weekend!
Another excellent job--beautifully shot and the dialogue from ALL of you is funny and poignant. As always thanks for sharing your adventure with us. God bless!
AAA! Great job giving an overview of the park and capturing the varying habitats. Cool drone footage and I always enjoy the little history lessons. I completely forgot this island was slated for development, and I am glad Mother Nature had other plans. Assateague Island is a special place and our family loved our visit here...for the most part. As I commented under your Chincoteague video, we came here in May 2018. I did not say that it ended being one our more memorable trips. We ended up camping here for three nights but was supposed to be four nights, if that gives you any indication on how things went. First, our campsite was amazing, a walk-in site with an undisturbed view of the ocean. Second, we had several memorable events. 1. MOSQUITOES!! To date, worst experience ever with mosquitoes. Just huge swarms anywhere aside from the beach. I am talking clouds of mosquitoes. From our campsite we had to run to the car to avoid them. If anyone reads these comments, stay on the Oceanside and as far away from the vegetation as possible. 2. Horses!! We had a very eventful evening with a small herd of the ponies. They decided to stroll through the campground and ransack every campsite in their path. We kept our cooler in the car, as instructed by the rangers, but still had our tote with our camping gear. They rummaged through that and knocked everything off our picnic table. They left our site and continued on. We could here people in the campground banging pots together and yelling for them to leave. It was quite funny. 3. Thunderstorms! On our third night we had small but powerful storms roll through at like 2 am. The Oceanside has little to no protection from the wind and rain and our tent was just way out in the open. My wife wakes me up as this storm is hitting and it is pushing in our tent walls significantly. We are pushing against the poles as hard as we can so it doesn’t collapse on us. Our kids are terrified. The storm lightens up a bit and we run to the car and sleep the remainder of the night in there. We go back to check on things in the morning and the campground is littered with peoples canopies, tents are broken, etc. We were fortunate and escaped unscathed. So big plug here for Big Agnes tents. Another big storm was forming our last night. I mean a big storm. I still remember how viscous it looked and the eerie feeling as it was rolling him in. After the previous night no way would the kids and wife even entertain trying to ride it out another night. We packed as quickly as we could and hightailed it out of there. All that being said, we still loved it and would go back again.
Really nice to see entire family! The first sighting, or should I say droppings, of the ponies by your son was hilarious. In my only trip there, maybe 25 years ago, I saw quite a few ponies on the Marsh Trail (my favorite). I too am rocking a seasonal beard but mine is much more salt than pepper! Last week found a trail to a new county park in Northampton County Pa (Twin Lakes) near Bangor Pa. It was a short walk to 2 beautiful ponds with plenty of majestic white pines. Keep on truckin'.
This is on my bucket list, when you guys went to Theodore National Park did you see any wild horses. I go to the park everyday to see the horses. Thanks for the great videos! God Bleaa
My family went to Ocean City every year when I was a kid, and most years we ended up spending a day on Assateague Island. Beautiful place, but the ungroomed beaches led to stinging sand storms when the winds kick up and the horse attracted a lot of biting flies.
great hiking along the coast and of course love the ponies, hooray you found them! i didnt know there was some mystery to their origin, thanks for the info.
Dad's research must have missed the days its closed! :p Hahaha, it's always the case that you put in all the effort looking for them and then its the last place you check. Nice that you got out and enjoyed this area. Cold but beautiful!
Things come to those who wait :) Always a pleasure watching you and your family horse around LOL. Seems like a good time of year to check out some of the parks (weather permitting). Much love :)
Nothing better to hear than that! And may the Lord bring you complete healing. I am so sorry knowing the struggles of siatica. Keep persevering through this difficult trial.
Beautiful national seashore! Seeing the wild ponies is definitely an added bonus! I really need to explore the East Coast! Btw I added to my channel a bit more playlists and organized it right after you mention it. Thanks again brother and thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
I recall visiting here about 18 years ago on a family vacation & only seeing a deer of all creatures. 😆 Also, I know you stick to National Parks & Monuments, but if you were to ever make an exception, I would definitely encourage you to visit Grayson Highlands State Park in SE Virginia. Aside from seeing at least 15 wild ponies, the scenery was incredibly picturesque as I was hiking through there last month & the winter landscape gave me a new appreciation for God’s creation there (and it was voted best state park in the nation recently as well). Regardless, I enjoy your work so much & I hope you & your wonderful family can continue to have these adventures!!
Hello America's Park's😊😊! The Delmarva Peninsula Region is so beautiful, and Assateaugue Island is a can't miss place to hang out and walk the trails, hahaha😊😊, my son loves horses and he tried to get close to a horse and I had to hold him back lol. I really enjoyed the video and it's great that the whole family went. Such a beautiful place. I'm looking forward to more videos in 2021, perhaps a trip to Rainbow Bridge, National Monument😊😊.
Thanks for the video! This is number one on my daughter's Parks wish list. We visit many of the Midwest and Northwest parks, but don't travel to the east coast often. Hopefully soon!
Hello Randy and family Looks like a interesting island ...wild poneys 😳 ...I hope they are protected from robbers. Never heard of them quite amazing Thanks for sharing. All the best to you all in 2021 H&S 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦
Was the ocean air cold? Your videos made me want to take my family here if the weather warms up a little one of these days. My one daughter can’t handle summer warmth, so thinking winter may be best after seeing your videos. Thank you.
Hey Steve, it was cold, but definitely bearable. My wife absolutely despises cold temps and she was fine. Obviously no swimming, but no crowds is a nice trade off.
I live in Salisbury, MD not far from there. Island Creamery has awesome ice cream when it is warmer outside. Did you get a new camera? This video seems much clearer. Enjoy all the videos, glad I found your channel.
Love your neighborhood! Yes a few other recommended the Creamery tooThe place must be hoppin' in the summer. Got the new camera last year. Been shooting lately in 4k. Glad to see you noticed a difference!
Was wondering - on what type of device did you watch the video? For us, it looks better on the phone and desktop, but not so great on the flatscreen. Just trying to figure this out. Thanks!
@@AmericasParks I watched it on my laptop and it looked great. I’ll have to watch it on the TV to see if it looks as good. I don’t have a 4K TV though.
Great video! Thank you for sharing! By the way, I was concerned because I haven't been receiving any of your video notifications. I'm subscribed and I have the bell set for notifications. Yet, none of your videos have been on my RUclips homepage or recommended video pages for well over a month. I assumed that it might have been COVID-related (i.e., you had not uploaded any during the holidays). To my pleasant surprise, I now have several videos to catch up on! I'll keep manually searching for your videos. Hopefully, it will trigger the RUclips algorithm again.
That's strange Chris. Views have been down, but I just assumed it was the winter months. Let me know if things change. Appreciate the help and notification!
The only positives to come out of this pandemic is that my family and I have visited more state parks this year than ever before. This park is high on our next trip. Were there any travel restrictions? I'm from NJ as well.
Hey Tony, enjoy meeting fellow residents from NJ! No travel restrictions either (that I was aware of). A nice two-day overnight trip - Chincoteague and Assateague. Worth the drive!
I know it’s not exactly related to the video, but have you been to shenandoah National Park in winter? If so, any tips? I may be going in February for a day. Btw Assateague Island looks awesome!
Yeah, been to Shenandoah a couple times in the distant past. Great place. They are most famous for their waterfall hikes. Look into it... Wish I knew some specific suggestions. Enjoy!

Hi John and Bev, thanks for the thoughtful and encouraging words! So blessed to be in this family. Have a super week!
Really beautiful place! Reminds me of Skidaway Island off the coast of Savannah Ga. Awesome you got to find the ponies. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Nick! Fun two-day trip with the entire fam. Have a great week!

Thanks, Eric! Easy combo with Chincoteague. Fun in the summer!
We love Chincoteague Island. The Family cannot wait to go back!
Good taste! So under-rated and if I had to choose, even a little better than Assateague.

Did this in the summer. The horses walked right up to the ocean...to get the breeze and help reduce the horse flies. Beautifully serene in the winter.
Neat to hear, Bob! That must have been great to seen them on the beach!
