I am a certified Dell technician and I the video is a good one. I just have one comment. Instead of using an ex-acto knife I would recommend using a plastic scribe which can be found in most computer shops. You have a less likely chance of cutting yourself and damaging the plastic with cuts etc.

Completely agree on the exacto knife. If you don't know how to use it, it's not a good idea to use it.

Thank you. I've watched several videos on this and they all skipped the part where you removed the hinge covers. That is where I was stuck, didn't want to take them off until I knew they were supposed to come off.

Honestly man thanks so much. Perfect instruction for my exact laptop. You rock. Also, if anyone happens to not have an exacto knife, like I didn't, use a one mm normal head screwdriver. Worked just as well.

The Dell manual and Dell parts people website have the whole display assembly coming off to remove the bezel. Probably to make those pesky hinge covers come off easy. Sometimes they are easy to break. Ill try your method now to save some time.

My son replaced his and when he restarted it, it came up DELL and then the screen went black. Not sure what to do now. When it first started up, it kind of had a line near the bottom.....so I wondered if it had a good connection where it was plugged in when we installed it. He got frustrated, so I am going to take it apart again and make sure it is plugged in and if it won't do anything, I'll call Dell......I hope it will still be under warranty if we changed the screen. A classmate shut the lid down on my son and his hand was in the way...it doesn't take much, does it.

the 3537 model is completely different and it is impossible to open it. Dell ya!

I have a 3537 as well. I understand the difficulty but I did open it up successfully with some minor scratches on the hinge. It must say, at least for the 3537, it requires a lot of patience. It's kinda hard to remove the hinges.
